Integration Scenario's utility in IR/ID ?? & Communication Channel

Hi All,
Please clear the following doubt about integration scenario and communication channel.
1. Is it necessary to create integration scenario in the IR(design) and then to import it in the ID(configuration) ?
Is it possible to create the integration scenario in the ID without even mentioning the same in the IR ?
2. During the design phase in the ID we get the option to create the communication channel tempelate, What is the purpose of it ? What if we create the communication channel in ID wihout using the IR option... ?

Michal had already answered you questions to the point. I just thought of adding few words..
Integration Scenario basically helps you to define the integration flow and you can use the same during the configuration> Because of this Ur ID work will be simple. As Michal said this is not mandatory and you can goahead without a Integration Scenario.
For Eg:
You think of a development enviorinment that there different consultant for Design and Config. I mean the person who is designing will not be doing the config... In this kind of situation how come the config consultant knows which interface to use where... say for instance if you use BPM it really hard to understand it. So either he needs to have a clear documentation with the clear name before he could do the configuration. The integration scenarios helps a lot in this case... The config guy just have to give few parameters and click next, next and done.

Can body tell me the use of Integration Scenario & actions in Integration repository?

In simple terms...
Integration Scenario represents one view of your complete integration scenario.
It includes all the components like business system, interfaces, business process etc.
You can import the same Integration scenario designed in IR to ID and use it for configuration purpose. No need to define all objects separately. ALL under one roof.
1. Integration Scenarios are definitely not just for documentation. With them, you avoid having to create the Configuration Objects manually (or even interface by interface, using wizard); you just run the scenario configurator, relate each application component to a business service/system/integration scenario, create/refer necessary Communication Channels and that's it;
.2. Of course you can use business services in Integration Scenario Configurator, but only for B2B communications. Hence, your application component must be set with "external" flag (same for action);
3. You don't "import" BPM from IS into ID. You just refer to the Integration Process as a service, meaning, the only information you have about IP in Integration Directory is its interfaces, inbound or outbound (output or input ones; actually they are all abstract);
Finally, for the actual question: an action reflects an execution within the integration scope, meaning, a system triggering an access to other system(s). In XI's scope, that execution means one interface, and that's exactly the information that goes into the action: the interface, its type (message interface, imported RFC/IDoc etc), whether it refers to an internal (reflecting an A2A scenario) or an external (reflecting a B2B scenario) system and whether it's an outgoing or incoming message (outbound or inbound, in the point of view of the application systems).

Communication Channels for IDOC scenario

Hi!
I have a conceptual question regarding the communication channels within IDoc scenario.
Case 1:
- File_to_RFC scenario
Here I defined a File communication channel from business system A.
1a) For which system (business system A or B) do I need to define a IDoc communication channel?
1b) What is the RFC destination and Port I need here?
Case 2:
- IDOC_to_IDOC scenario
2a) Do I need in this scenario only one communication channel for business system A?
2b) What is the RFC destination and Port I need here?

in this case no IDoc CC is involved. All you need is a File sender adapter and RFC receiver adapter

in this case you will need a IDoc receiver adapter only.
The basic settings:
In XI
SM59 - R3 connection pointing to R3
IDX1 - define the port with the above dest.
In R3
SM59 - R3 connection pointing to XI
WE21 - define the port with the above dest.
WE20 - Partner profile type outbound/Inbound

In repository what is the use of communication channel templates

HI,
The communication channel template is for the documentation purpose that will give the information about the sender and receiver communication channels in IR. So No need to goto ID and check the related CCs each time for every scenario.
You can preconfigure a communication channel with a communication channel template. You can use the communication channel template as a template to define a communication channel at configuration time.
If you want to create multiple communication channels with some identical configuration data, you should use a communication channel template.

Error when trying to change the communication channel

Hi SapAll.
under the Integration Directory ,when i try to change the Descryption of communication channel and save it ,it is raising the unknown error which i cont uderstand at all as it is complaining about the other operation mapping which is using this comm channel in its process Integration scenario.
one thing i cont understand is y it is complaining about the other operation mappings which the communication channel is not at all related to ot.
the following below is the error that iam getting while changing the descryption of communication channel and saving it

the problem is sorted.
my colleague has got incorrect objects in the scenario which is using the same communication channel,so she just deleted all the objects in that scenario under configuration .
now i can change and save,activate the communication channel after my colleague deleted the objects of the scenario.

Anyway I can do a search through scenarios in the Integration Directory for a sender communication channel without having to drop down through all scenarios?
I have a sender communication channel kicking off, but I cannot find it.

Consider a file to file scenario..
and in the receiver Communication Channel,We have to specify the name of the output file right.but i want my output in a different way.....
my output file names are different.....what shall io do now....

Sender communication channel stopped after error "Connection Timed Out"

Hi experts,
in our scenario we have an asyncronous sender communication channel with polling every 6 seconds to an external FTP server.
Yesterday evening a "Connection Timed Out" error came.
After this error the polling stopped but channel in communication channel monitoring still remains green.
So status green but no polling.
To solve this problem we stopped and then restarted channel from CC monitoring.
The channel is configured "manually".
The question is: Is it possible to avoid this problem? Maybe there's a parameter in configuration to set?
After a time out error the channel must go on polling, it should not stop. Or it must shows red status.

Need help in troubleshooting communication channel using soap adapter

Hello friends
I have a simple scenario.
I have created 2 communication channels, one for searching a record and another for updating it with a new value
Both uses SOAP as sender and RFC as receiver with a Standard BAPI.
Everything was working ok, but without any changes, all of a suddent I am not being able to update the values and when I checked RWB, I see for Update SOAP Adapter Channel, the messages say
Request received for a channel
but in a second it says 'Call Failed'.
I haven't made any changes.
I even tried restarting XI and ERP servers but still getting the same error.
Any suggestions or feedback will be greatly appreciated.

THE PROBLEM WAS WITH A JOB GETTING HUNG IN THE QUEUE AND I HAD TO FORCIBLY KILL THAT. THAT TOOK CARE OF THE PROBLEM

Adapter Engine Name is not displayed in Communication channel

In Integration Directory -- Service without party -- Business system -- communication channel -- when we create new communication channel then go ahead selecting File , JDBC, Mail adapter. ADAPTER ENGINE IS DISPLAYED BLANK.

I have performed all the above given instructions, but the issue is still pending.
Steps followed :
1. Performed all the steps in RZ70 as instructed.
2.Downloaded the TPZ file and assigned it in the required path
3.Adapter Engine is already assigned in the SLD.
Can you let me know, whether to assign hostname, IPaddress or fully qualified domain name in the exchange profile( where exactly in JAVA stack and ABAP stack)
Kindly request you to provide further inputs.

AE: multiple Communication Channel instances and message re-sending

Hi All,
My scenario is as follows:
We are running the adapter engine on a server cluster. In the RWB, I have multiple instances of the Communication Channels, for theit various cluster nodes.
My question is:
I have a message in the RWB, which is in System Error state in the AE. If I resend this message from the RWB, does it get queued for the same communication channel instance (as last time, when it failed), or can it get assigned to a new instance?

Hi,
I realized that, a message will always be handled by the same instance of the Communication Channel.
But Exception is when an instance is down. In this case the dispatcher will immediately schedule this message for another instance.
In our scenario, all the instances of the Communication Channel were down, and all the messages were in System Error state, with the error: "Channel not initialized."
In this case, if the message is resent, will it go to the same instance, or to a different instance?

Communication channel doesn't show in runtime workbench

In Integration monitoring Runtime Workbench does not show communication channel list in communication channel monitoring. It shows empty but we have created lot of communication channels. This is problem in XI adapter or any other problem? Please can anyone tell the solution for that.

If ur searching for Xi and Receiver IDOC adapter in RWB.U cant find them in RWB then run in IS.try to check ur sender adapter and u can find the complete flow of it.

Communication channel Inactive

Hi All,
Right now I'm working in RFC<->SOAP scnario. After creating the receiver communication channel with soap adpter I tried to execute the scenario. but when i start the communication channel in communication channel monitoring it shows "Channel started but inactive" . is there any issues in that or shall i continue working with this one.?

SOAP channel gets active when some data is sent through it.
1)
Did you change any configuration in the SOAP channel, then check your Adapter configuration.
check message interface and action
2) If it is not active, you have to check correct message is coming to the SOAP adapter. check in the SXMB_MONI call adapter pipeline payload.
if any problem here, you have to check your mapping(before that try re-importing WSDL)
-If you made any changes in Message Interfaces after you executed the scenario, you need to clear the cache.
Go to SXI_CACHE and do delta cache refresh & complete cache refresh

Configuration Wizard in ID is not using existing Communication Channel

I am using PI 7.1.
I created a Communication channel FileSenderCC for a Business System Sys_Sample_One_D with Party as blank.
After creating i can see below object in the list of communication channels in the left pane.
|Sys_Sample_One_D|FileSenderCC
After this when i use Menu: Tools -> Configuration Wizard -> Internal Communication, to configure the scenrio, I selected the Business System Sys_Sample_One_D and Adapter Type "File", and proceed, while selecting the sender communicaiton channel, it cannot find the FileSenderCC that i created.
If i manually enter FileSenderCC, and complete the scenario, it is creating a new communication channel with the samename, and not using the exisitng one.
After that i see two communication channels in the left pane.
|Sys_Sample_One_D|FileSenderCC
*|Sys_Sample_One_D|FileSenderCC
does this happen in PI 7.1 only, because when i worked in 7.0 long time back, i dont think i got this issue.
