Integration Scenarios and Enterprise Service Bundles

Hello,
I understand the concept of both individually, but I am wondering about their relationship; e.g. there seem to be some identical names like Order to Cash for both. Can someone please explain the relationship. Thanks.

  • Integration scenarios from scratch -- idocs or enterprise service bundles

    Hello,
We are starting a SAP PI implementation for a new SAP ECC 6.0 system. The implementation is from scratch, so we don't have to consider any historical issues or decisions. One of the first business processes to be integrated with business partners is the Procure-to-Pay process. The old way of implementing this B2B scenario was with idocs (e.g. ORDERS05 and INVOIC03), but nowadays the enterprise service bundles also contain services for this scenario. Should I choose idocs or enterprise services as a technique to get the information send to SAP PI or send the information to SAP ECC? What are the advantages and disadvantages of both techniques? Does anyone have experience with the implementation of the enterprise services for Procure-to-Pay?
    Thanks for your response!
    Kind Regards,
    Mark

    Hi Mark,
here are my 2 cents to your very interesting disussion.
The IDOC was designed to customize EDI data distributions between SAP Systems via messagetypes and transaktioncodes (Vorgangscodes) in the partnerdetermination which itself is mapped (the "Vorgangscode") to functional modules to do "something". The complete customizing of IDOC distribution might sometimes seems to be complex (and we both know it is more than that but it is FULL CUSTOMIZABLE from a consulting point of view.
The Enterprise Service (my personal view multiplied with the last TechEds and RampUp Delta courses) have another focus. An Enterprise Service is (mostly) some entity which is consumable from the outside world such that they are implemented with Request-Response patterns. When you only want to distribute information why will one use something like Request Response Patterns? One could argue to get back any response, any confirmation or something else....but this is also possible with IDOCs and their acks.
Another argument against to use an ES for P2P outbound scenario is, if yet not seen any ES which is triggert while create a purchase order in its related transaction. Is the BADI for such Transaction triggering the ES while the save event has been processed? If you could find out this fact and if the BADI (or some new kind of user exit for transactions) is implemented and fully supported from SAP I would choose the ES in the P2P processs. Otherwise why using the ES instead of the IDOC when using a PI as Middleware which is converting the source message type (ES or IDOC) into its proparitary legacy system format. Please let me know when you found such userexit/BADI for ES.
Please don't missunderstand my point of view, I would really throw away these IDOCS and using a couple of ES instead but what is the fully supported STANDARD from a customizable and manageable point of view. When you are familiar with proxy technology you know how easy to implement, monitor and manageble theses technology is - BUT - you always have to code some (maybe not release independent) proxy method and you maybe have to invest some knowledge for error handling, rollbacks or additional commit works - all of these stuff will be handled (mostly ) by the SAP standard delivered functions.
Last but not least - if there is any standard out there to trigger an ES from a transaction without coding I would rather use the ES instead of the IDOC. If there is no such standard I would discuss the functionality with the customer (if to complex implement an inbound or outbound proxy=ES) or extend the IDOC or use a BAPI (and extend the BAPI if needed) - mostly the proxy will the be the easiest choice if the needed field count is not to much (<30).
So long, let me know about your findings and your decision.

    Dries

    Hi,
Enterprise Services (ES) bundles are collections of enterprise services, grouped by common business scenarios, which enable customers, partners and independent software developers to extend the functionality of the SAP Business Suite.ES bundles help create composite applications using SAP NetWeaver's enterprise services development and modeling tools. In this way, SAP is promoting an evolutionary path to SOA and lowering barriers to overall SOA adoption.
SAP providing bundles of enterprises for evry industry,if you want to use any enterprise services then you have to read teh documentation for the servcies and how this service can help you to reuse,if you want to provided any extension for the same you can.
All enterprise services stored in Service Registry, first you have to consume the services fromService Regsitry.Service Registry is the place holders where servies available.

    LO,
For example for SAP CRM bundles,
    go to htttp://service.sap.com/swdc
Support Packages and Patches - Entry by Application Group" SAP Application Components" SAP CRM" SAP CRM 7.0 / NW7.01
Select XI Content and download  XI CONTENT ESM CRM 7.0.
Then you go to ESR in SAP PI and you import it.

  • How to map business process and enterprise service?

Recently, I read some documents about ESA. I'm confusing about the relationship between business process and enterprise service. In other word, how to map the business process to enterprise service after the business process is analyzed? Is there any methodology/rule to define business process and wrap them into service in ESA?

    Hi Sherry,
I like to add some of my thoughts about that discussion. From my point of view ESA is much more than just another BPM or Enterprise BPM. ESA is adresses six key areas and I think all of them are really needed:
    - <b>People Productivity</b> as the word itself describes...it's about portals and productivity.
    - <b>Embedded Analytics</b> has to integrate transactional and analytical content.
    - <b>Service Composition</b> is used for model-driven service composition and services orchestration.
    - <b>Service Enablement</b> is about a Enterprise Services Repository filled with business meaningful Enterprise Services and service patterns for enabled objects. Excactly this is where SAP has years of experiences.
    - <b>Business Process Platform</b> is about service enablement of all application platform objects and engines. This is the place where "BPM" for core business processes resits.
    - <b>Life-Cycle Management</b> has to cover the deployment, configuration, operation and change management for ESA based processes.
Therefore the term "BPM" is located in serveral layers of an ESA approach. On the level of <u>Business Process Platform</u> BPM is providing the choreography for core business preocesses.
At <u>Service Enablement</u> BPM needs to compose out of granular services (I would say "atomic" services)
buiness meaningful services (here we have "molecular" services).
The third level where BPM could be used is <u>Service Composition</u> because exactly this is the place
where serveral Enterprise Services could be combined to a process representation.
To come back to the discussion:
    1. The question should be how to indentify business meaningful services which could represent single process steps. ATP check, Credit card check, ... could be examples. In theory this service could be out-tasked, defined more flexible etc. This means that processes needs to be evaluated for Enterprise Service candidates. Afterwards you can check against SAP's Enterprise Services Repository for already existing Enterprise Services. The evalution for enterprise services candidates will be supported by the metodology mentioned by Kaj and David.
    2. I think domains in this context should be motivated by business and/or functional areas. Depending on the granularity. For example Order Fulfilment Services, Master Data Services, Search Services... These kind of serices can be combined again to services such as "Search of Master Data" (Search Service + Read Master Data Service) etc. or can be used to generate UI to be used in a ESA application.
    Your thoughts?
    Very best regards
    Wulff

  • Regarding Integration Scenario and Communication Channel Template

    Dear All,
1.What is the purpose of creating Integration Scenario in IR?Is it compulsary to create Integration Scenario in Every Case?(I mean Scenario not using BPM and Scenario using BPM).
2.What is the purpose of creating Communication Channel Template in IR?
3.If we create Communication Channel Template in IR?Do we need to utilize that Communication Channel Template for creating Communication Channel in ID?
4.IF we have created Integration Scenario in IR,and we transfered that Scenario from IR to ID,then Do we need to create Sender Agreement,Receiver Agreement,Receiver Determination,Interface Determination?or will they automatically created?
Please clarify my doubts. Thanks in Advance.
    Regards,
    Ramana.

    Hi Ramana,
<i>1.What is the purpose of creating Integration Scenario in IR?Is it compulsary to create Integration Scenario in Every Case?(I mean Scenario not using BPM and Scenario using BPM).</i>
    >>> For graphical overview about the sceanrio. It is not compulsary to create Integration Sceanrio.
<i>2.What is the purpose of creating Communication Channel Template in IR?</i>
    >>> In integration scenario while creating the connection between two actions u need to specify the communication channel templates for Sender and Receiver.
<i>3.If we create Communication Channel Template in IR?Do we need to utilize that Communication Channel Template for creating Communication Channel in ID?</i>
    >>>You can utilize these templates in ID.After completion to creating the configuration sceanrio need to modify the parameters of the channels.
<i>4.IF we have created Integration Scenario in IR,and we transfered that Scenario from IR to ID,then Do we need to create Sender Agreement,Receiver Agreement,Receiver Determination,Interface Determination?or will they automatically created?</i>
    >>> From Tools-->Transfer Integration sceanrio from Integration Repository, From input help choose the sceanrio,Continue and click on Finish ,with the same name the configuration scenaro will create in ID.You need to follow the Confiuration steps like <b>Assign services</b> , here need to choose u r source & target business systems and <b>Configure Connections</b> in this step you can cross check the interfaces, mapping, channel templates involved in this sceanrio and <b>Generate</b>. It would automatically generates Sender Agreement,Receiver Agreement,Receiver Determination,Interface Determination. It would shown to u Generation Log, here you can check what are the objects generated and if there are any errors it would shown Number of errors.
By setting the appropriate channel parameters, activate all objects from change list. Now u can able to test the sceanrio.
However in latest version it is not compulsoary to create Integration sceanrio in IR and to the above things. You can use Configuration Wizard to do all these things or you can do these mauvally.
Hope it will helps to clear u r doubts.
    Cheers

  • Integration scenario and configuration scenario - is it madatory

    Hi,
Integration Scenarios are not mandatory, the reason for creating them is given in the blog you mentioned:
The advantages of defining integration scenarios in the Integration Builder (design tool) are as follows:
    · The integration scenario provides you with an overview of the process and the process flow
    · The integration scenario club together all objects like SWVC,Interface objects, mapping objects, integration processes. You can access all of these objects from the integration scenario.
    · The integration scenario gives you the design time information which is required for its configuration.
The configurtation items are getting created.
    Regards
    Patrick

    Hi Priya,
       There are two things here.
    1) Create the Integration Scenario in the IR.
    2) Use the wizard to configure the integration scenario in ID.
The Integration scenario created in the IR acts as a template to create the configuration objects in ID.
The wizard will create the actual configuration objects only (not just documentation).
But creating integration scenarios is not mandatory.
YOu can as well create all the configuration objects manually.
Generally, you will go for Integration scenarios if you are building a general purpose product (Product based ).
If it is a project that you are building for a particular customer, you can chose to create the configuration objects using the configuration scenario approach.

  • Difference between Webservice and Enterprise Service

    Hi all,
In SAP, web service is known as Enterprise Service. What makes Enterprise Service different from a normal web service?

    Hi,
Enterprise Service is a web service with business semantics.
The tecnology is same i.e HTTP,SOAP,WSDL.
But there are some governance rule for defining an Enterprise Service and it can be defined only in ESR(using business objects, process components etc).
There are no such governance rule for defining a web service. You can simply write a mehtod/functional module to add two nos and expose it as a web service . But would not be called as Enterprise Service.
    Hope this helps.

  • DI Integrator XI and Data Service Designer

    Hi all
I am playing with DI XI (11.7) now, but very soon we would have Data Service Designer (new version of DI which is called Data Service Designer). I'm just wondering what the difference is between DI Integrator 11.7 and Data Service Designer. The interface and object types are very different and a big surprise for me? Or I might ask what's new in Data Service Designer?
    Thanks for your help.

You will be very familiar with DataServices Designer. You will find more transforms - the data quality transforms - and a few menu items, flags etc. But really, DataServices is just a name change. For DQ customers things changed a lot.

  • ERP 6.0 and Enterprise Services

    Hi everybody,
Currently we have installed an ERP 6.0 (IDES) system and we want to integrate it with a third-party software using XI (PI) and web services.
I have the following questions about it:
    1) Is the Enterprise Services included in our ERP 6.0 system? or do we have to activate or install it?
    2) We are looking to work with web services, where can we find them in our system?
    For example:
    ESR Object Type: ifmoper
Software Component Version: ESA ECC-SE 603
    Technical Name: MaintenanceOrderCreateRequestConfirmation_In
    Namespace: http://sap.com/xi/EA-APPL/SE/Global
    Category: 3rd Party A2A
    Application Component PM
    Any information will be appreciated,
    Thanks!.

    Hi jessicab,
    1) Is the Enterprise Services included in our ERP 6.0 system? or do we have to activate or install it?
Ans: Yes include in the ECC6 you have to configure as per guide.
    2) We are looking to work with web services, where can we find them in our system?
Ans: For this you have to install java component at the time of installation. If you have not install at the time of installation then you can install now and configure as per guide.

  • Difference between Process integration scenario and configuration scenario.

    Hi,
Please tell me what is difference between Process integration scenarion and configuration scenarion in SAP PI.
Is Process integration scenario is BPM concept? also what is the advantages over configuration scenario.
    Regards,
    Manigandan

    Hi Manigandan,
    Speaking widely:
Process integration scenario: there is a ccBPM, like the workflow in ABAP, even when you one inside the PI it's generated a workflow in the ABAP stuck
Configuration scenario: it is object to link the integration directory and the esr/IR when  you define the logic of your implementation. It isnt mandatory, but you can organize better you develoments if you make an scenario for a "real scenario" like a file to soap integration, you can define it like a configuration scenario.

  • MII and Enterprise Services

    Hi All,
Does anyone have any experience creating or using Enterprise Services using MII as the service provider?  Is this functionality possible with any current (or future) MII software releases?  If so then is there any documentation out there that may define this path/procedure?
    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

    Hi,
It is possible to consume ESOA service using MII. But I doubt about the ES using MII. All esoa services are registered services so it will have a link to WSIL file of the server. But for MII services, the transactions are exposed as WS using WSDLGen (http://<host>:<port>/XMII/WSDLGen/<Path to the transaction>). These services will not be registered in server level.
    Thanks,

  • Comparison between ODI and Enterprise Service Bus (ESB)

    Hi,
As per my knowledge Oracle has provided two infrastructures, namely ODI and ESB for migrating data across applications.
My query is where I should use ESB and where ODI. Is there any comparison document available? I heard that for bulk data movement ODI is suggested by Oracle. Is there any benchmark exists for comparing these two tools?
I also want to map these tools with Oracle E-Business suite's conversion process. Is it possible to map each stage of a traditional Conversion Process (Data Loading, Validating, Importing to Oracle EBusiness Suite) using these tools?
Any kind of help/idea will be very much appreciated.
    Regards.
    Tapas

I also think that same way. I do not know what is so apecial about BEA Aqualogic ESB and other market matured ESB products such as TIBCO & SONIC. The samples which BEA has given in their evaluation guide are very simplistic. BEA should do more to provide extensive knowledge/features about their Aqualogic line of products.
