Intel 2200BG wifi nic and aironet 1131 LWAPP's

We recently had a nice sized installation of 1131 LWAPPS's (180) w/ WLC's and a WCS. The problem I'm having is out of the blue one day my Dell Latitude D400 w/ intell 2200BG internal wifi just disconnected and I wasn't able to reconnect. I've since formatted and rebuilt the system to ensure it's the latest n' greatest drivers (I'm running 9.0.4.13) from Dell. I checked Intel's site and they have 9.0.3.26 but nothing mentioned about the connection to LWAPP's problem. I can connect at home and other locations just fine. If I put in an external nic, I can connect to the 1131 LWAPP.
Suggestions? Help?
-Rob-

Hi Rob,
My WLC current software version is 4.0.179.8. Please tell us the stability of 4.0.206.0.
I enabled only 802.11b and 802.11g in my LWAPP environment. The LAP model is LAP1242AG-C-K9. Antenna is AIR-ANT4941 (diversity).
I'm using L3 LWAPP transport mode; the two WLCs (within the same Mobility/RF group) are located at a centralized data center while the LAPs are located at a remote office building. WAN is MPLS L3 VPN. WLC redundancy mode is 1+1. All LAPs join to one controller; the other acts as hot standby.
Clients use Windows Zero Configuration (WZC). Encryption is WPA2/AES and user authentication is using Microsoft PEAP against a backend AD. ACS version 4.0.
Clients use Dell Latitude D610 with Intel PRO 2200BG chipset. Driver version is either 9.0.4.17 or the latest 9.0.4.26. They face frequent disconnections while users with 3945ABG chipset have more stable connections.
Please advise.
Thank you.
B.Rgds,
Lim TS

  • Satellite P10: How to enable Intel 2200BG WiFi card

    Hi
I have a Satellite psp10e which I have recently installed an Intel 2200BG WiFi card. After having problems getting it to switch on I have put tape on pin 13 on the card to switch the radio on.
I have installed all the latest drivers/ BIOS updates and spending hours searching the internet I am still yet to find a cure to get the hardware switch/fn+f8 and the WiFi led to work.
Is there something that anybody has figured out to make the hardware switch/led work? There must be a better cure than a piece of tape!!! It is it the BIOS that has anything to do with the hardware switch?

You cannot get it work with the switch because the Toshiba wireless cards have another pin to power off. And noone knows that pin. You could get one original toshiba from somewere and put it in and check out which pin is connected to the power switch.
Then you could change the pins on the new 2200b/g card. As the pins are very small and close together - it is nearly impossible to isolate them... But make your try ;)

    Hi,
For wireless, this series has few flavors: could be Intel card or Broardcom card. Please check the sticker to get the right one and go to this site to download driver for it (Does it have Centrino sticker ?).
    Good luck.

  • WLC AND AIRONET 1240 LWAPP CONFIG

Hi all, Can anyone tell me what I need to do to configure my 1240ag access points to work with my wlc using lwapp.
Also how reliable are the wlc's should you use a backup wlc on each site ?

Your 1240ag must be an LWAP. Look at the back of the AP and check the model. If you see AP1242 then no, but if you see LAP1242 then all you need to do is stage the LWAP to the WLC.
Backups depend on your policies and how important the wireless will be to your byusiness.
Read this doc to help you understand better. Hope this helps:

  • A30 and intel 2200BG miniPCI adapter

    Hi!
I've read the same topics on this forum but didn't find an answer.
I've installed wifi adapter(intel 2200BG) to my A30 everything seams OK but it says hardware switch off the switch is on but the green light stays off and the wireless doesn't work.
I've found a hint to cover 11 and 13 pins, made everything following the instruction, but nothing happend. It still doesn't work.
    Any hints?

    Hi,
I had the same problem at our company when I wanted to install a Wifi card!!
I called the tosh hotline and the hotline guy told me that I have to attach the ends of wireless LAN connector cables. The white aerial cable should be attached to top-most connector (nearer the back side of the computer), the black aerial cable to the bottom-most connector.
After that procedureit works! Also you have to install the Wifi tools from https://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com at the driver downlo section!

does anyone use wifi card: Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100

Realtek RTL8168C/8111C Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC , Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 , Bluetooth
And I want to know is some issue with hardware described above especially sound, wifi and grafics.
Previously I've had intel wifi 4965 and realtek ALC268. First use iwl4965-ucode (package) and module in kernel, second causing some issue: it was necessary to add "options snd_hda_intel model=acer" to /etc/modprobe.conf.
If anyone use that laptop or some of hardware, please describe me the details about it ( firmware, /etc/modprobe.conf or any incompatibles ).
    I'm interested about:
-Does nvidia 177.82-1 driver support Geforce 9650M GT,
-Does iwlwifi-5000-ucode firmware and kernel module enough for Intel Wireless WiFi Link 5100 to work,
-Does Realtek ALC663 work smoothly (just alsa), or any /etc/modprobe.conf or /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base  options are necessary?
    I'll be grateful.

I can answer about the wireless intel 5100 part. I've got an intel 5300 and it's working fine. The drivers are included in the 2.6.27 kernel so you just have to install the iwlwifi-5000-ucode firmware.

The 15" Retina's will have better performance than any 13" Retina. Not only do the 15" machines have dedicated GPU's, but they also have quad-core processors, whereas the 13" Retina's only have dual-core processors.

  • AppleTV and Intel My WiFi Technology + Airplay Issues

I am using a Samsung laptop and iPhone 4S and iPad Generation 3 with my Home Sharing.  All home sharing is turned on and I have WEP 2 Personal security. How to get AppleTV to work with Intel My Wifi Technology? Does bluetooth has any part of the mirroring?  My iPad shows the TV present to make the configuration, but then disappears once configured.

    Howdy mcm145,
It sounds like there’s an issue getting your Apple TV connected to your Wi-Fi network and setting up Home Sharing. Take a look at the articles linked below, the first article will help you resolve the Wi-Fi connection issue and the second article will walk you through the process of setting up Home Sharing for your Apple TV.

Problem was setting in security section for the profile in Thinkvantage Access Connections; it was set to cancel Microsoft File and Printer sharing.

  • Intel i217-LM NIC Causes Broadcast storm and High CPU

Wanted to post this here to help others that may be experiencing issues with broadcasts.
If you have PC's with the Intel i217-LM NIC if you don't have the latest driver from Intel the NIC will cause an IPV6 broadcast storm when the computer goes into sleep/hibernate.  You have to have at least two PC's on your network in sleep/hibernate mode.  It causes the same affect as a network loop.  In my network it would cause the MDF CPU to go to 100% and basically shut the network down.
We have Lenovo M93 desktops that have this NIC and I know that there are other PC's that have his same NIC and experience the same problem.
When the broadcast storm is happening you can issue the command
show interfaces | include is up|line|broadcast on your MDF switch to find which interfaces have high broadcasts.  You may have to trace it through your uplinks to your IDF's.  You can then shut those interfaces to stop the broadcast storm.
Your long term solution will be to get the latest NIC driver from Intel and update your PC's.

It's connected IPV4 but because of the faulty NIC driver it starts broadcasting IPV6 when in sleep/hibernate mode.

I doubt that this will work, but try ir5 and go to forge.novell.com
zfdimgdrv to see if you can get support there..
otherwise you would need to get a hacked version of the zdm 7 stuff or even
    higher..
If you have already compiled drivers or have linux.2 please put them on

  • M83 and M93p ipv6 storms intel i217-LM NIC

The Intel i217-LM NIC in some new lenovo devices will create massive IPv6 listener discovery spam when the machine sleeps, hibernates, or is turned off.  This can be resolved by using the 19.0 or later driver from intel (currently 19.1).  The officially supported driver provided by Lenovo is older than 19.0 and causes network storms.  Highly recommend that Lenovo bump up their supported version and anyone using this NIC on a production network update their driver from Intel's website.
This problem only seems to occur if there are 2 or more machines with this NIC on the same network that are in a sleep, hibernate, or off state (off but plugged in).
This is also a problem for T440 machines, probably others as well.

It's connected IPV4 but because of the faulty NIC driver it starts broadcasting IPV6 when in sleep/hibernate mode.

  • T60 WLAN COMPLETELY GONE after installing latest Update Intel Wireless WiFi Link for Windows XP

I just reinstalled a T60 from scratch TWICE  to the point of updating  - Intel Wireless Wifi Link for Windows XP -
Just after that very latest Update (3.1.1.1 or so?)  there is no WLAN possible and I had to find out, that  a system restore is impossible either! (Simply does not work and asks me to get another point and try again)
I have a full backup done by acronis 2010 so that does not bother me so very much.
The point is that I like to WARN everybody to install that Update to their T60  e.g. 2008YWJ !!!
    (contains 3945AGB WLAN Module!)
After Updating U HAVE NO CHANCE TO REPAIR IT! U get always the problem signature
    szAppName: AcSvc.exe  szAppVer: 5.6.1.33  szModName: PfMgrApi.dll
    szModVer : 13.0.0.2  offset: 000d4912
and the System wants to report that stuff to MicroSoft...again and again...every time u
    start AccessConnections.
U can DEinstall AccessConnections and Intel Wireless Wifi Link for XP completely, reboot
and REinstall it....just 2 get the same messages and NO WLAN anymore.
I could not get out of this Driver Installation Hell until I did a complete Recovery Install and
I got back to Hell when System Update REinstalled Intel Wireless WiFi Link for XP
    automagically...;-(((
And again NO CHANCE to roll back, No chance to get rid of that annoying bug. This time I have an ACRONIS-Image so I can spare some time....
Somebody shoud really CHECK this, because it should not be possible to break down an completely NICE RUNNING Thinkpad THIS WAY just by updating it! As it took me abaout 12 Hours of Administration by now I
really would apreciate to help whomever to find out what the hell is responsible 4 this !!!
Why is XP System Restore not working on an T60 to roll back to Point b4 installation of this Update???
(I could  not use that Thinkvantage-System Recovery because it did not even get all its updates by the
time the system went in limbo during install! What i defintely can say is that it breaks at exactely
same point when Intel Wifi Updates is installed...
I do my Acronis Restore now and try 2 avoid this Update....;-(
if anybody KNOWS how to get that system 2 an earlier point of an install orgy i whould be thankful to get that information...
    I am keeping alive 12 Thinkpads here R40 R50 T42 T43 T60 T61p T400 T500 and  NEVER
experienced problems like this in many  years!
    cheers

    gal9000, welcome to the forum,
have you tried running windows system restore from safe mode? It usually works then because some anti-virus softwares will prevent it from running successfully from "normal" windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • New Wifi NIC card not supported

So I have a DV4 4141us and I wanted to upgrade the wifi card to something that supports AC. So I bought an Intel AC wifi card that people said gave them good speeds. It was cheap and that makes me happy. I go to install it and Im getting an error 702. Im thinking maybe a BIOS update will help me out but all the changelog says about that is better memory management. Im wanting to know if there is a way I can install this bad boy wifi card. I would really hate to think Im screwed out of 802.11AC support. The model of the NIC is 7260HMW. Thanks.

Some people have had success with that module on some notebooks and many have not.
Did you install the driver from Intel?
Check the BIOS mod websites.  You may be able to get a modified BIOS that suports the WIFIO module if you are willing to forgo your notebook's warranty to try to use the WIFI module.
Don't forget that once you go down the modified BIOS route you are on your own.  You will have accepted complete responsibility for possibly making a brick out of your notebook by installing and using modified firmware.

I need to know this too.  I have a Lenovo X61 and we need CKIP.  I found only one Access Connections that would install on this laptop and it doesn't have CKIP.
I know that CKIP is considered "non-standard", or so I was told and that TKIP replaces that, but we need CKIP.
