Intel 5100 stop working occasionally

OS: happend both on Vista Home Basic and XP SP3
Machine: X200
Driver:
happened both with Lenovo pre-install and Intel new driver
happened both w/ or w/o Access Connection
Wireless Router:
ordinary router that I used for a few years. all other notebook/desktop works fine with it.
Problem:
1) sometimes the network just stops working, though the icon may still indicate connection
2) sometimes after standby the network cannot resume without rebooting
What's done, and doesn't seem to make difference:
Disable power saving in the property sheet of wireless adapter, in device manager
Disable power saving on wireless in Lenovo Power Manager
Any insight?
Thanks.

I have same problem and done everything tech support could tell me and they sent someone and changed the card but still have same problem. After many calls to tech and sale I had to order and pay for a new machine and they are suppose to take this back. Although I paid for new machine I have not received return authorization yet.

  • Home button stops working occasionally

iPhone 4 with 4.3 firmware though this problem has been happening for a couple of months now even with older firmware. I don't have a cover or screen protector on the phone.
Occasionally, the home button does not respond. Sometimes, it finally responds after many clicks. At other times, I eventually give up. This may be just my imagination, but the problems may be happening more often when the battery is low. When I plug the phone into my computer and come back a while later, the home button usually starts working flawlessly again.
What might I be doing wrong?
    Thanks,
    Reza

Thanks for the advice. The home button stopped responding again Thursday night. Friday morning, I must have pressed it 100 times, and it finally started to respond. Went to the Apple store in the afternoon. It wasn't displaying the problem, so they couldn't replace the phone. But they made a note of my visit in their records, and asked that I go back if it does this again. I think that's fair.
One interesting thing the tech did was point out to me that all my apps were still loaded even though I had rebooted the phone many times, and had only used a few of them recently. The phone remembers which apps were loaded before a reboot or a sync, and loads them again in the background. He suggested I close the unneeded ones (double click the home button to display the 4 most recent apps on the bottom; touch an app icon and hold it for the red "-" sign to appear; press the "-" to close the app; scroll over the apps) and see if that makes a difference. We'll see.
    Thanks,
    Reza

  • My iMac intel core5 stopped working today.  Couldn't hard restart.

Screen lights up, nothing else but the whirling icon.  Aside from taking it in to the store for service, what are my options.  I bet the hard drive that has the startup disc is fried.  I have a time capsule and another external 1T back up drive, and I assume I should bring both drives along with the iMac and may be necessary for restoring data.  What should I do.  Thanks.

You might try an SMC Reset and a PRAM Reset to see if that will then get your iMac started, as offered by expert user Rkaufmann87:
    SMC RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
    Wait 15 seconds.
    Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
    PRAM RESET
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.

    2. Enlightenment thinks the screen is connected and it appears in the screen setup as on.
    3. The monitor no longer recognizes that there is a laptop plugged in and just stays off...

As far as I can see my options are to try and roll back via pacman -U in my /var/cache... or to figure out how to make my Nvidia HDMI output work using Synergy...
I suspect this is some type of driver regression (kernel/mesa/xorg) but am not sure as I have not seen much information about this issue online.
Unless someone has a better idea... when I get time to try to resolve the issue I will update this post.

So I downgraded those packages and the kernel with no luck.
I tried to get the HDMI working via Synergy... and failed
I then tested the Display Port on Windows and it did not work there either - exhibiting the same symptoms as Linux - the OS sees the monitor but no data was transferred.
So I ended up using one of my Display Link monitors at work... the USB monitors were ok, just an irritation with a flickering mouse.
I hope it is the miniDP>HDMI adapter and not the port... very frustrated by this problem.
I hope to test another adapter soon.
I think as nobody else is experiencing this issue that it may well be hardware/firmware related.
Hope there is a happy end to this post but not feeling so positive right now.

  • My Imac 17" stopped working, repair says Motherboard? Help!

My trusty 17' Intel Imac stopped working, repair shops says its the motherboard and can not be repaired.  Any suggestions? Help!

Time for a new iMac. Even if you could find another shop that would repair it, it wouldn't be worth putting a lot of money in. Better use of the money to put towards a new or refurb.

  • T400 Display Driver igxprd32 stopped working...

    Hello!
On my T400 6474-19G without ATI Graphics the integrated Intel graphics stop working sometimes when I play games like F.E.A.R or Enemy-Territory. The game crashes, windows goes to 256 bit colors and 640*480 resolution and tells me to reboot with a message like the Topic
"The Display Driver igxprd32 stopped working properly[...]"
It also tells me that I will get a report after next reboot, but nothing happens.
Im running Windows XP Service Pack3 with the latest drivers installed by Lenovo System Update.
Please let me know if this is a hardware or software issue and if I could fix it somehow.

Does this happen when you run the game by using dGPU(NVIDIA graphics) or iGPU(Intel graphics)?
(Check the color of your power button light, it lights red when dGPU is running and blue when iGPU is running)
Does this happen on all games you play or just one single game?
Tell your current graphics driver version(both NVIDIA and Intel graphics driver).
If you're running the game with NVIDIA graphics, check your vbios version in NVIDIA control panel(Right click on the desktop> NVIDIA Control Panel> System Information>Video BIOS). There is version 80.04.EF.00.22 released on the MSI website, and if you have a different one, I'd suggested to update the VBIOS and see if the problem still remains.

  • I have a MacBook Pro 13inch 2.4GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM, 250Gb HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, SD card slot, up to 10 hour battery life)bought in October 2010 in the UK. The charger has stopped working. Which model and voltage do I need please?

I have a MacBook Pro 13inch 2.4GHz (Intel Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM, 250Gb HDD, NVIDIA GeForce 320M graphics, SD card slot, up to 10 hour battery life) bought in October 2010. The charger has been playing up for a while now - the light going out but coming back on when I move the cable a bit - faulty connection it seems. It has now stopped working at all.
Apple UK charge a whopping £65 for a replacement - and the reviews are AWFUL for it!
I need to know which one I need - 45w, 60w and 80w are listed - can someone tell me please? If I'm going to pay this price I want to make sure I get the right one!
Also, is a genuine Apple one available on Amazon UK, does anyone know please?
Any help will be much appreciated.
Meanwhile my battery is going down.....

Thanks for that wjosten. Much appreciated.
I've read here on Apple's site that the 85W version will work, as you say, and that it would run cooler with a 13" Macbook - I have a 13" MBP of course but assume this would be the same with mine. I wonder if running cooler is a good thing (it sounds as if it is) and it would be better for me to get the 85W version than the 60W one?
Then I have to decide whether to pay the (extortionate as it seems to me, though I may be wrong) £65 from Apple (bearing in mind the rotten reviews here of the Apple product), or risk a cheaper alternative from Amazon UK, at around £20 (also with various rotten reviews)... Any suggestions? Please? :-)

  • Intel wired ethernet driver stops working

We have this issue with several T400 and T500 series ThinkPads that the Intel ethernet driver stops working after a while. All this started to happen maybe a month ago. We have both 32- and 64-bit Windows 7 OSs.
Wired ethernet works ok first, but after a few hours or a day or two this yellow exclamation mark appears on the network icon and it says limited or no connectivity. Wired network stops working and there is nothing we can do to fix this other than reboot the computer. It doesn't even shut down properly, just says "Shutting down" forever and blinks the HDD led maybe once a second. So we have to force it and after booting everything is ok until the next time this happens.
When the network stops working, nothing can be done with the driver because everything just hangs. You cannot disable the connection or uninstall the adapter from Device Manager or anything. Unplugging the ethernet cable does not help either. There is nothing about this problem in the Event log other than about the symptoms of not having a network connection.
What could be the source of this problem? Do you have any ideas about how to diagnose this problem further? We have the newest driver and I have also tried the newest driver from Intel.

Go to Local Area Connection (Wired Intel adapter), Properties and the Configure button, in the Power Management Tab UNCHECK "Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power".
Window7 does NOT always resolve IP and DHCP when it come out of sleep etc. All attempt to release/renew are in vain. I have seen this on various systems for some time. Occassionally a router reboot fixes it but most of the time is the PC. Frustrating but for Wired use this should always be disabled if you're using it a lot. Power savings is not in your best interest.
Let me know if that does it.

Using OS 10.9.2 on an Intel Mac, my CS3 Photoshop says . licensing for this product has stopped working.' I've reinstalled and attempted to use the fix in the Adobe website. However the fix will not work on an Intel Mac only a G5.

For Intel Macs running 10.7 and above, there is a python script that you copy and paste into Terminal. Have you tried it?

  • I have an iPhone 4s.  After upgrading to iOS 6 (and 6.0.1) my sound occasionally just stops working and I have to power off/on to get it back working again.  Anyone else having this issue?

My sounds occasionally stops working after upgrading to iOS 6.  Is anyone else having sound issues with iOS 6 or greater?

I am having this same issue on my iPhone 4. The most recent update to iOS 6.1 didn't fix it either. Has anyone found a fix for this problem? It doesn't happen often, maybe every third day or so but requires power off, power on to bring the sound back.

  • IMac Intel Core Duo Keyboard Stops Working Intermittently

    Hello,
About every 10 minutes or so, maybe longer, my iMac's keyboard stops working completely. The list shown below are additional items that I have tried or is a side-effect to the keyboard issue:
The problem occurs on more than one keyboard, therefore, it doesn't seem to be a faulty keyboard issue
The quick solution is to unplug the keyboard from the back of my iMac and plug it in again. Then the keyboard resumes its normal operation. However, on some occasions, the unplug/plugin technique does not work. It that case, I have to do a hard power-down, wait 10 seconds, then turn the iMac on again. Normal keyboard operation is finally returned.
The mouse will turn off, which is indicated by the light inside the mouse turning off
If the mouse does turn off, I unplug it from the keyboard and plug it directly into the back of the iMac. The light inside the mouse comes back on, but the mouse cursor is unresponsive
The iMac Intel Dual Core is about six years old.
    Any information is appreciated
    Thank you,
    Tony

Try doing a SMC reset, if that doesn't work try a PRAM reset. Don't be afraid to do these resets 2-3 times each if they don't work the first time.
    _SMC RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Unplug the computer's power cord and all peripherals.
    • Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    • Release the power button.
    • Attach the computers power cable.
    • Press the power button to turn on the computer.
    _PRAM RESET_
    • Shut down the computer.
    • Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    • Turn on the computer.
    • Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
    • Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    • Release the keys.

  • Occasional error message saying "Labview.exe has stopped working"

    Hi,
I am using Labview 8.0 on a Windows Vista operating system to communicate with lab instruments through GPIB. Occasionally, when one of my programs finishes running, an error message appears saying "Labview.exe has stopped working". The error window gives me the option to close the program or debug. After clicking debug, Windows cannot find the source of the error and the all labview applications get closed. Any ideas? Thanks.

The code that I have been having an issue with is attached. The main program is called "Frequency Sweep Real Time2". The other two attachments are subVI's used within the main program. I am a young programmer and I have never had any official training with Labview so sorry if my Labview programming is unconventional or just plain bad. Thanks to whoever looks this over.

  • [SOLVED] Audio over HDMI stopped working? (Intel/i915)

My audio over HDMI was working fine until recently and I can't figure out what's stopped it from working... My configs haven't changed and aplay -D plughw:0,3 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Front_Center.wav gives no errors, but no sound can be heard. There are no errors/messages in dmesg either.

Yeah I checked and everything is fine... this is really weird!
I've tested audio over HDMI on windows, so I know it's not the cable/HDMI port. I've looked through my pacman.log (I tend to update daily) and the only thing I can see which could affect it is a kernel update and intel-dri. I tried downgrading those and re-tested, to no avail.
I also installed pulseaudio and pulseaudio-alsa before it stopped working. This could have broken it, but I've since uninstalled them and replaced /etc/asound.conf with my original, so that rules those out; unless there is something else that pulse could have broken?
    Cheers
