Intel 865PE/G fan does not work

I have a 865PE Neo2-FIS@R Motherboardand the Intel 865PE/G fan does not work. Lately my computer has been crashing after some video intense programs. Could the problems be connected. If so does anyone know how to fix/start the fan? Is there anything in the bios? Any ideas would be appreciated.

  • Intel Ultimate-N 6300 does not work with W520?

I ordered my new W520 to replace my existing laptop, since my current laptop already had an INtel Ultimate-N 6300 wireless card I just ordered the W520 with the base wifi card with the intent of swapping the cards once the new laptop arrived.   So, it arrived and I did the swap and was not even able to get past post.  I get the dreaded message below.
I was left with no choice but to pull out the card and put the original one back in.  What is really confusing to me is that I was under the impression that the Ultimate-N 6300 was one of the supported cards.  It makes no sense to me that it does not work.  Is there something else I need to do?  At this point I am just wishing that I had ordered the laptop with the Ultimate-N already installed.  Sigh.......
1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in - Power off and remove the miniPCI network card.

You will have the same problem with that card from NewEgg   If it hasn't been sprinkled with Lenovo pixie dust, it won't pass the white-list.
From the maintenance manual, it looks like the FRU # for that card w/Lenovo branding is 60Y3233.  The Google says that it's as much as $150 or so from Lenovo, down to $35 on eBay - and everywhere in between for refurbs.
Just make sure it's a 60Y3233, not the generic 6300.

  • 12" Powerbook battery won't charge, fan does not work

Thank you so much in advance for answering. I recently acquired a 12" powerbook with a broken hard drive. I replaced the hard drive and everything seemed to work fine, except that the fan was always on and the battery would only partially charge(to about 30%) and then would only trickle charge. The battery has 251 charge cycles and holds 82% of original amperage (at least it is supposed to). However, it only charges to about 30% (or about 1200 mAh) and then will only trickle charge from there. After browsing these forums I now think that I may have a bad logic board or DC in. It occurred to me that the fan issue and he battery issue might be linked, can anyone verify this? I am thinking that if the hard drive was broken, this computer could have been abused, heavily dropped, etc. Is there a way to check my logic board or DC in board? It could also be that I merely need a new battery, and the fan issue is unrelated. Help!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
For charging issues, a good place to start is to reset the PMU:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1431?viewlocale=en_US
Did you get the set of discs that originally came with the powerbook? If so, one of them will contain the Apple Hardware Test, and you can run the extended version of it to check for hardware problems.
The fan always being on might be an indication of processor heavy activity. You can check for this in Activity Monitor (in your Utilities folder in your Applications folder). Be sure to select "All Processes" at the top. Sometimes a process will hang up and hog the CPU, which will make the fan run and is hard on battery life. If the fan is no longer running, are you noticing any particular heat build up?
I think your powerbook was from 2004, and since this is 2009, the original hard drive would be 5 years old, which is probably at the end of its average lifespan of 3-5 years of useful life. A failed hard drive does not necessarily indicate other abuse.
After resetting the PMU and checking activity monitor, I think the next step should be to run the extended version of the Apple Hardware test and see if it tells you anything in the form of an error code.
    Good luck!

  • Fan Does Not Work

My computer does not turn on the fan when it becomes overheated. Instead it becomes extremely hot around the monitor screen and by the speakers of the 17inch MacBook pro. It has become hot enough in the past that it could potentially burn the user. How do I go about getting this checked into?

Run the Hardware tests from the Install DVD (hold d at Boot) and see if it reports MTR (fan motor) or SNS (temperature sensor) errors.
If one or more motor has failed then get it into Apple a.s.a.p. for replacement(s) - do not use it for any extended period of time or it could cause much bigger problems.

  • HP Elitebook 8470p - from battery the fan is not working

    Hello Everybody elitebook Expert!
My laptop config in short: i5-3320m 2.60GHz with integrated graphics Intel HD4000, 4GB Ram.
I don't like the elitebook 8470p cooling system and i can't see the normal reason of the machanism.
So, there is no problem when the laptop is on AC power, the fan is on and works well and this is ok.
But, i have problem when the laptop is on Battery because when the laptop is in idle mode the fan is not working but stay.
Only  starts then just when it attains the 55 degrees.  This is not good, moreover it is bad for me, i dont like it because it is warm.
I want the ventilator to work so when the machine is on AC power everytime on Battery too.
In the BIOS there is no option for that and i can't see why...
Plase help me! I need a program what can turn on the fan when the laptop is on battery or a tweaker or something else i don't know what but i need something.
Aida64 says: motherboard name is: HP 179B
                              BIOS type is: Compaq EFI
                              BIOS version: 68ICF Ver.F.32            Date: 2012/05/12
(I know that there is a newer BIOS but i don't think so that there is an option in the new that can handle the fan on battery mode).
    (Sorry for my English please).
    Ákos

    Thanks for the question Akos,
I understand that CPU FAN does not work on battery mode in windows mode however it works in BIOS mode.
firstly, as you know BIOS has control over CPU fan and CPU thermal table - however OS has better thermal managements. once PC is up, BIOS information and thermal control is handles by OS. to trigger a change it has to be still routed through firmware only however instructions are based on the BIOS thermal table and windows power management.
we know the thermal management of windows is better than BIOS and best to provide you best battery performance. so in BIOS CPU fan may be not mostly spinning all the time but in windows its more effective.
one example for the same is, when you update BIOS on your PC or we-write a BIOS - CPU FAn will be running at full RPM during the process because windows does not control the CPU fan at that time due to update/change process.
its completely normal that you see most of the time CPU FAN is off or spins for a very minimal time. if its always off that means there is something wrong, however if its seen off on battery in windows - its ok. i do not think there is anything wrong here.
if you want to have the FAN run always, that means you need to run your PC at a poor/bad thermal table. which i do not think possible with windows 8 platform because its largely looks like a mobile focused(better battery run time) platform.
you may try installing any of the older (prefer non-windows OS) to check. however its not recommended. because it may result in a damage to hardware too (if a non-supported OS used).
Hope this helps... Good Luck !!!!!
    Regards,
    WW

  • Wireless net does not work after installing SP1 for Vista - Error code 10

After installing Vista SP1 on my computer (T61 - Vista Business 32 bit) my intel 82566mm wireless net does not work.
Windows says "Error code 10" and suggests that I update the driver. I have downloaded the newest driver via another computer, but it does not help. Still error code 10.
Any one else has the same problem?

I fixed the problem. Uninstall iTunes and then reinstall it clean. Looks like upgrading is problematic.

  • HSTNN-E06C - Fan is not working, need a replacement.

    Hello.
I have a HSTNN-E06C laptop. It seems that my CPU fan does not work anymore.
Before I got my  laptop  disassembled, I would like to prepare myself  with proper   components. I would like to ask You what is the  FAN product code, so I will be able to order a fan replacement?
can you also provide me some  service manual, which will help me to take the laptop apart in proper  order.
Fan replacement should not  be any problem for me, so I really   count on you, guys
    Thanks in advance.

If it is the fan that is you're having problem with, you can replace it. HP doesn't provide cooling fan alone as spare part.
You might want to contact the online sellers mentioned above or your local stores with the part number & ask about it.

  • Satellite A110 shut down suddenly - CPU fan is not working

    Hello!
The CPU fan on my brand new A110 is not working. The notebook will shut down suddenly, without hibernation or standby for any CPU consuming activity.
Can it be linked to a configuration/ software problem? If so, how to check it?
    Many thanks.

    Hi
For me it seems like a hardware malfunction. If the fan does not work as it should then it has nothing to do with the software.
The A110 seems to be a very new unit and I dont think the dust and debris are responsible for such automatically shut downs.
Why you dont take your warranty??? If the warranty is valid everything should be checked and replaced for free

I have recently upgraded my iMac Intel G5 iSight (iMac5,1) to OS 10.6.8 and now the internal mic does not work with skype or facebook. I can here static when playing back clips. Do I need to update firmware or reload old system parts. I have zapped PRAM. The blue indicator in system audio panel will appear for a second as I slide the bar for internal mic but then it disappears. Is there a fix?

The sound seems very faint but can here static on playback.

  • Emagic mt4 and intel iMac does not work with 10.4.5

    Hi there,
after updating my iMac on 10.4.5 my MT4 does not work any longer. It is still shown in the system profiler! But that`s it! After I`ve installed the latest driver (emagic v1.7), it was not shown in the audio/midi preferences. On my G4 with 10.3.9 it is still working properly. I have tried to use it with Garage Band 3, while I am waiting for Logic Pro 7.2 . It worked in the begining, but now the USB connection on the MT4 does not light up, but the midi devices. My question is: Do I need a driver using Logic Pro 7.2 with an Intel iMac? Includes the update the driver for Emagic MT4?
thanks a lot for any reply, experiences and clues

    Hi Glyn,
I will try to get some driver information of apple. Emagic is apple now, so who else could that know?! I use an m-audio fw audio-interface. For that m-audio got a driver and it works by now. Fortunately! I will tell you if apple got a clue.
Thanks for reply ( So I am not the only one in universe with that problem!)

  • After upgrading to Lion Image Capture does not work, even though it is intel software.  Gives error 9931.  What gives?

After upgrading to Lion, Image Capture does not work, even though it is intel software.  Gives error 9931.  What gives?

Ouch, if it is indeed damaged, then sadly you need to restore the whole danged huge OS!
Didn't used to be this way before Lion/10.7.
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • Window 10 build 10041 does not work with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet on ASUS motherboard

I originally posted this question here:
    answers.microsoft.com/en-us/insider/forum/insider_wintp-insider_update/window-10-build-10041-does-not-work-with-intel/6729892f-83aa-4822-b20a-ea84f4fd06c7
and was asked to post it on this forum...
I updated a computer I have which is a quad core i7 that I built and includes an ASUS motherboard with Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet built in. Windows 10 preview 9926 worked fine with this network adapter. Window 10 build 10041 does not, and I have tried
it twice so far. I even went as far as buying a Thunderbolt-Gigabit Ethernet Adapter (Broadcom, sold by Apple)... and while it installed the driver automatically, it did not work either. Each time you try to view the properties of either of them, it locks
up or give an error. In fact, doing much of anything with the Intel adapter icon assures you of not being able to do a clean reboot... have to kill power.  I have finally gone back the previous version 9926, which has its issues but no where near as bad
as not having any network connectivity!  Does anyone have this issue and a workaround?
Note, there are two images on the windows 10 preview forum that I posted this question on. I could not post the full link as I was getting a message here that links and graphics are not allowed.

Thanks Roger, I posted the following yesterday in the other thread (thinking it was this thread - confusing after they moved it here)... It may be that the new driver fixes the issue that 10041 has with it, but I have not tried that yet. If I do I will update
    this... Thanks!
I have more information about this, which basically exonerates any issue with the Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet hardware or software. I have 3 computers with Windows 10 preview so I have multiple angles to see issues from. With this I have found a culprit
(but I suspect not just the only culprit) in this above mentioned problem...
10041 build combined with installing (or attempting to install) CISCO VPN Windows 7 64bit 5.0.07.0440-k9 client causes the issue mentioned above. I confirmed this on a completely different machine with a totally different Ethernet adapter. First machine
is an ASUS motherboard in a tower system I built, with the Intel 82579V Gigabit Ethernet hardware built in. Second machine is a Gateway Laptop from 2008 which has a Marvell Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit adapter built in. Build 10041 will work fine with my 2008
laptop, including the MS VPN client (which I have tested). However, if you attempt to install or even uninstall the Cisco client you will have to do a recovery to a restore point (as I have done twice) in order to get your network working again. Installing
or attempting to install (because it never even does install properly and times out), CISCO VPN client will render your entire network unusable. Going back to a restore point saved me and I am still running 10041 but I can't use CISCO VPN client any longer.
I could with build 9926, including on all 3 machines. I now have 9926 on two machines and 10041 on only the 2008 laptop.
Hopefully this above information helps someone resolve the issue. I will also mention, even though my network is working on the 2008 laptop, I still can't go into the Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections and right mouse click on the Marvell
Yukon 88E8057 PCI-E Gigabit adapter icon. I get an error when clicking on Properties menu popup : "An unexpected error has occurred". So something is still up with my network adapter driver or windows software, but it could be a side effect of all
that has happened with the Cisco software install attempts under 10041.
Another note: CISCO Anyconnect also has the issue.

Hi, I did everything, but nothing has brought me out of this misery .
I Updated Maverick just 2 days after its release. Had no problems, other then slow Finder. I restarted my iMac last week, and got caught with these issues, known to me, not sure what all bugs are there.

I do not know how to do a clean install, as I had upgraded from Snow Leopord to Mountain Lion and to Maverick using App Store, which does not open at all.

  • Sleep Mode in Windows 10 Does not work

Ever since I upgraded to Windows 10 Sleep mode does not work properly when closing the lid or pressing the shutdown button when you set these to sleep.  I have updated the BIOS, Intel Chip Set Drivers, and Video Driver to the latest.  All HP and Windows UPdates installed. Problem is not everthing goes to sleep, typically my ethernet connection, audio and fan stay on.  Must use the Power Button and Hold to recover.  Each time I close the lid and open it I have a black screen.  I can tell when it is not going to sleep by noticing the Ethernet jack is still lit and the fan making noise after closing the lid or pressing the power button. Here's the kicker, make a change to any of the power settings, save and come back into them and reset to sleep and it will work with the lid ONE TIME ONLY.   There after its back to never working, never fully sleeping and having to reboot. Need Help.

I just discovered that HP has posted a new support page for people who are having issues with the computers after converting to Win 10. I was particularly interested in the section on issues with Sleep/Hibernation and found this whole page: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03383935 Looks like apart from the driver issue, it could be that the settings in the Device Manager for your KEYBOARD are not set correctly!!! - yeah, that's what I said.  Anyway, the full resource is located here and may be of some help. http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04773236/ PS: I also checked to see if there were new drivers for my notebooks and see that it has now been two days since they were last updated. Perhaps there is hope!

  • Installed Premiere Pro CS4 but video display does not work?

I just got my copy of CS$. After installing Premiere I found two things that seem very wrong:
    1) video display does not work, not even the little playback viewer next to improted film clips located on the project / sequence window. Audio works fine.
    2) the UI is way too slow for my big beefy system.
My pc is a dual boot Vista-32 and XP system with 4GB of memory installed and nvidia geforce 280 graphics board with plenty of GPU power. The CS4 is installed on the Vista-32 partition. My windows XP partition on the same PC with Premiere CS2 works great and real fast.
Any ideas how to solve this CS4 install issue?

I would like to thank Dan, Hunt, and Haram:
The problem is now very clear to me. The problem only shows up with video footage imported into PP CS4 encoded with "MS Video 1" codec. So this seems to be a bug. The codec is very clearly called out and supported within various menues but video with this codec just will not play in any monitor or preview window. In addition the entire product looks horrible with respect to performance while PP CS4 trys its best to play the video. Audio will start playing after about 30 seconds. And once in awhile part of video shows up at the wrong magnification before blanking out again.
My suggestion to the Adobe team: fix the bug and add some sample footage to the next release so new installations can test their systems with known footage.
