Intel C-state Package Limit

Today, while simply browsing, I got a BSOD x124. I googled and saw munaim1's thread (http://www.overclock.net/t/1120291/solving-fixing-bsod-124-on-sandybridge-read-op-first). He suggested to disable C3 and C6. In my mobo its under Intel C-state Package Limit. I have 5 options, C0 / C2 / C6 / No limit and Auto. I guess for me to disable C3 and C6, I have to Disable Intel C-state Package Limit? Not sure if it's ok to disable this,  I tried to google for more solution but no luck. I played for hours and hours and no problem. It was my first time getting that bsod. Anyone?

Sorry I couldn't find multiple quote button so I had reply each one.  Later today after I posted this thread.  It made me wondered 4.5ghz at auto voltage was unbelievable.  Even if the tests were stable, feels like something is wrong.  So I change a few things in cpu features and down clocked to 4.3ghz. Then a few hours later,  I decided to go old school oc... which do you guys suggest I should do?  Both passed all tests but for some reason I like 4.5ghz better.

  • Enable/Disable Intel C-state in Windows?

I installed teh controlcenter (without mei since it says it affects oc´ing). Thought this could change intel c-state in windows but I cant seem to find it. Is the only way to do this to change it in the bios?
If you are wondering why, it loweers dpc substantially. Around 30-50%.

So you dont know of any way to change c-states from windows?
    Not with a B3 mainboard. If MSI offers the Click BIOS II as is on the G3, then it would have been possible to change many settings in a Windows environment. You might ask MSI Technical if such plans are anticipated;

    Hi,
I asked something similar before, but my question was not as clear as now: Is there an open FREE Math/Stat package for J2SE available?
If yes, can this package do multiple linear regression?
If yes, where can it be downloaded from?
    Thanks, rasped

    yes but cannot do regression.
yet have the matrix classes necessary to do your own regression classe.

  • PC restarts after Intel C-State enable P55-GD85

Hi all, I hope for your help...
My problem is that Turbo Boost Tech is not working properly without C-State enabled, but when i enable it in BIOS and restart, it comes to a OS welcome screen and after few seconds shuts down and then restarts again.
    Other BIOS settings is:
    Green Power
    - Phase Control: Enabled
    Cell
    - CPU Feature
    - - Intel EIST: Auto
    - - C1E Support: Enabled
    - - OverSpeed Protection: Disabled
    - - Set Limit CPUID MaxVal to 3: Disabled
    - Intel EIST: Auto
    - C1E Support: Enabled
    - Adjust CPU Base Frequency (MHz): 133
    - Adjust CPU Ratio: 20
    - OC Genie Operation: Disabled
    - Over Speed protection: Enabled
    - Execute Bit Support: Enabled
    - Intel Turbo Boost: Enabled
    - Virtual Technology: Enabled
    - VT-d Tech: Enabled
    - Auto Disabled PCI Frequency: Enabled
    - VDroop Control: High VDroop
    - Spread Spectrum: Disabled
Without C-State enabled it works fine, except turbo boost increases multiplier only to 22 with no matter 1 or 2 or all cores loading.
In safe mode everything works fine too/
I am already tried to reset BIOS settings and flash latest BIOS.
Sorry for my bad English   :(

your Over Speed protection is enable or disable?
maybe you try to set to disable.

  • T420 (4236) - Lenovo Update Retreiver is missing the Intel Wireless Driver Package

    Hi,
I'm using Lenovo Update Retreiver with ThinInstaller. We got our new model T420 and got everything except the driver for Intel Wireless Driver.
The new version Power Manager 3.62 is also fail. Missing information and won't install.
    Could you please add it!

After seeing the above comment, I again tried to update Power Manager on my 3 ThinkPads, without success.
On my R500 running Windows 7 professional with SP1, Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) still fails to download the package for Power Manager version 3.62. Of interest here is that when you try to list the details for this package, you still get a blank screen. If you try to bypass Update retriever, and go with System Update (version 4.01.0015) directly,  the update still fails with message "1 package did not download".
On an R500, running Windows XP SP3, Power Manager (version 1.99j) still fails with similar messages. Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) still reports "1 update failed to be downloaded" and System Update (version 3.15.0017) still reports "1 package did not download".
On an R61, running Windows XP SP3, Power Manager (version 1.99j) still fails with similar messages. Update Retriever (version 4.02.0011) still reports "1 update failed to be downloaded" and System Update (version 3.15.0017) still reports "1 package did not download".
I know that I can update these packages manually, but the point is that System Update and Update Retriever still cannot process this update. I use the update logs within System Update to keep track of what has been installed. Doing the update manually defeats that purpose.

  • SAP MDX statement size limit ???

    Hi all,
we are developing complex stuff with MDX and now the question comes up, if there is any limit in the MDX statement size in SAP Abap world. The main handler classes are CL_RSR_MDX_COMMAND, CL_RSR_MDX_OLAP_REQUEST does anyone here know if there is a limit in the MDX statement size ???
    Thx a lot !

Not sure on the MDX but from a OLAP statement point of view - a straight SQL against an Oracle tablehas a limit of 32k and in unicode 64k
I am seeing some interesting scenarios when SQLs are fired through the application and not direct..
A select with multiple in clauses will first try and do a between on the SIDs - if that fails it will build an in clause..
On the phsical level the SQL is partitioned up and fired mutliple times (obviously to get aroudn the 32k/64k limit)
However in a virtual cube scenario - a function module can only call 200-250 (hard coded!) statements on an in clause - you can override this but risk a database error on too long a SQL statement..
THis may or may not help.. but it's all background

  • [SOLVED]Intel XDK AUR package is not running

    Hi,
I have installed Intel-XDK from AUR:
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/intel-xdk/
The install completed successfully but when i tried to launch the program by typing intel-xdk or intel-xdk.sh nothing happens. And there is no error message. This is freshly installed 64 bit ArchLinux with PekWM.
Last edited by Paingiver (2015-02-02 22:21:17)

Thank you Lone_Wolf for alerting me about the matter.  I think it is a problem for some other programs too because someone created an AUR package just for this symlink:
    https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libudev.so.0/
When the package didn't run without any error message i emailed the AUR maintainer. He quickly replied and said he is a developer at Intel and will look into matter when he got free time. I searched the internet but couldn't find a lot of information about it. Then i stumbled upon a thread on Manjaro(https://forum.manjaro.org/index.php?topic=11695.0) forums. In their system AUR package was giving the error of libudev.so.0 not found and suggested to install AUR package libudev.so.0. Installed that and program worked.
What can we do about that beside that symlinking?
Later edit: Also i stumbled upon some post that Intel-Xdk Linux install script looks for a package named gtk2. If your distro's gtk2 package is not named gtk2 it is not installing. Someone created a dummy gtk2 package and fooled the program to run.
Why install scripts from big companies always have problems on Linux? Until today there isn't even one package that haven't given me problems. On the other side installed a lot of Linux distros and %99 of time it went flawlessly.

  • SQL statement with LIMIT and total count?

    Hello,
I would like to know if it is possible to execute a single SQL statement that will return me a subset of data (for pagination purposes) that not only includes the subset of data for the page but the count of all available data. Can this be done so as to not take up the cpu and time it takes to essentially run two queries? One to get the subset and one to get the count? I think simply doing a subselect is not going to give me what I want in that we actually query twice.
There may be no way to do this other than that, but I wanted to check with the gurus here first. :)
    Thanks,
    Mark

    select *

    select i.*,

    from mytable
where < PUT ALL LIMITING (i.e., "search") CONDITIONS
    HERE >
where rn between 41 and 50 -- pagination clauseNice one
BUT of course it adds additional row in execution plan and takes additional time and CPU :)
I assume that it directly depends of course on returned result set and some other factors like available sort space but a simple test case on a table big which actually is 1.6 M rows like dba_source got following results:
here is the first one returning also count(*)

  • [SOLVED] Tracking down intel pc states

I'm trying to figure out which part of the hardware keeps my laptop above pc3 (haswell, i7 4500). I can't find much doc on that and wondered if there were any tips...
On Windows, it goes to pc3 just fine.
Sample (system is pretty much idle/nothing running):
    sudo turbostat sleep 60
    Core CPU Avg_MHz %Busy Bzy_MHz TSC_MHz SMI CPU%c1 CPU%c3 CPU%c6 CPU%c7 CoreTmp PkgTmp Pkg%pc2 Pkg%pc3 Pkg%pc6 Pkg%pc7 Pkg%pc8 Pkg%pc9 Pk%pc10 PkgWatt CorWatt GFXWatt

    1 3 49 2.79 1745 2394 0 11.72
    60.001607 sec
CPU is correctly spending most of its time in C7 (and core watts is low) , and GPU is correctly in in RC6 (0.03 watts).
However, its most spending time in pc2 and pkgwatt is still relatively high.
System temperature is also about 8C higher than in Windows.
    PCIE ASPM is on.
powertop doesn't report anything odd except that the total discharge rate is around 7w instead of 3.5w (windows) when fully idle.
Same result on the LTS and latest (3.16) kernels.
    Any idea?

  • Z77 Mpower 17.11 Bios Fault

hello just flashed from 17.10 to 17.11 went to setup my overclock and noticed in cpu features that all these are missing,
    long duration power limit
    long duration maintained
    short duration power limit
    primary plane current limit
    secondary plane current limit
    primary plane turbo power limit
    secondary plane turbo power limit
    1-core ratio limit
    2-core ratio limit
    3-core ratio limit
    4-core ratio limit
without these i cannot setup my overclock. have tried turning c1e/intel c state/package c state limit on and off it makes no difference these options are simply not there, when i flick back to my second bios 17.10 all these options are there.

  • Whats the use of these Bios Option

after Flashing the bios of my x58-pro To 8.50 I saw there is some new option in the bios that you can say there is practically no guidance in the manual on what they do.
i'm interested specially in 3 of them which i believe have something with power saving ,I wonder if somebody can tell me what they exactly do.
C State Package limit setting     (which have the option of Auto,C1,C3,.....,C7)
    C1 Auto Demotion                    ( Disable,Enable)
    C3 Auto Demotion                    ( Disable,Enable)
    thanks

Actually, there is not that much to explain here.  C-States are IDLE- or HALT States that the processor can enter to save power (when it has nothing to do).  C3, C6 & C7 are more enhanced power-saving HALT States than C1. When the system enters a certain HALT State, CPU Core Frequency and voltage are usually reduced to save power.
The first option allows you to specify or limit the "deepness" of the HALT State.  If you don't want it to enter the C7 HALT State, choose the next lower state as the limit.  The second and third option are actually rather self-explanatory.
thanks so if i want the best powersaving in first option i use c7 and then at 2nd and 3rd option i use disable

  • Problem With Package Statement

    Hello -
I am semi new to Java and I am trying to place two classes I have created into a package. At the top of both classes I have the statement:
    package mycode.stringtests;
I have saved both files into d:\jf\mycode\stringtests and set my classpath variable to d:\jf;.
I can compile just fine, but when I go to run from the command line with the java command I get an exception:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: StringTest (wrong name mycode/stringtests/StringTest)
    Any ideas? Thanks!

You probably cd to the stringtests directory and using
    the command "java StringTest"
java is finding a file named StringTest.class, but
when it looks inside the file, it finds that the fully
qualified name of the class is
    mycode.stringtests.StringTest. Since the name you
supplied in the argument is different from the fully
qualified name, you get a wrong name error.
When a class is executable and part of a package, you
need to supply the fully qualified name of the class.
So your command should be "java
    mycode.stringtests.StringTest"Hi,
I am having the same problem as the one mentioned and I have come here to find a solution. I have tried the answer you suggested and am still getting the same error message as above. Could you please elaborate or point me to some more information on the topic.
