Intel Centrino Advanced–N + WiMAX 6250 hardware compatible with Verizon 4G LTE?

Hello all,
Can an existing Intel internal (laptop) card be used to connect (with necessary VZ software) to the Verizon 4G network  WITHOUT ADDED HARDWARE? (USB modem or internal card)
My feeling is that the two are incompatible, but I do not know with any certainty.
Solid answers are appreciated. Thanks.

To; NVRambo, toughbook, & M91-30....thanks ya'll for your help.  I have received my new Dell computer and have learned the following:  The wireless internet connection on my new computer works fine with my existing Verizon USB 720 modem and current Verizon plan.  The Intel Centrino WIMAX 6250 is of no value without changing plans from Verizon to (Sprint? AT&T?).  I have disabled the WIMAX feature on my new computer and will only use it in the future if I decide to change from my current  ISP to another provider.  As for whether my current USB 720 modem  will work with the new Verizon 4G LTE, that is still an open question.  As Rambo suggests, I SUSPECT that if I am interested in Verizon's 4G, I will have to purchase a new 4G modem, and sign up for a new 4G contract at whatever that enhanced feature price is.  As for now, my internet connection seems to be working just fine but I obviously am enjoying no benefit from the WIMAX feature as it is currently disabled on my new computer.  Thanks again for all your help.  Ken

  • T431S compatible with Verizon 4G LTE?

Hello everyone! New to this board. I'm trying to talk my boss in getting my a new laptop. I would really like to get something that could be used on Verizon's 4G LTE network. I'm having a tough time verifying if the new T431s will work on with Verizon. The website says "WWAN 3G/4G" but not if it's specific to any carrier. Does anyone know for sure?

    I found this for you.

    It's a dual band (2.4 + 5 ghz) card
For $7 it is worth it to see if it works. The problem on some newer model laptops is that the only dual band card listed does not actually exist. This one appears to exist.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook and Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 WiFi Card

I've got a dv7tqe (Quad Edition HP Pavilion dv7), part #XW397AV, notebook computer.  On page 8 of the manual, it says that the
Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 wifi card is compatible with this laptop.  However, upon further research online from many sources, including suppliers, it appears that this wifi card is not compatible due to HP's whitelist in the BIOS.
I'd like to know from an HP representative whether this card is truly compatible (it's not listed on PartSurfer for this laptop).
I'd also like to know why HP feels the need for a whitelist for wifi cards.  Is it to force your customers to pay your exhorbitant markups for replacement parts?
I'd really like the answers to these questions.  If it's not compatible, then it shouldn't be listed in the manual.
I'm also posting this as a warning to potential future HP customers that these types of inconsistencies as well as gouging their customers for replacement parts is commonplace for HP products.

    Hi:
This is a consumer to consumer forum.
You will not receive any answers to your questions from anyone speaking on behalf of the company (HP).
It is more complicated than the wireless cards having to be listed in the service manual as supported.
    1. They must also have the HP part # on them, or they will not work.
    2. There are a few cards listed in the service manuals that have the wrong part numbers, and no one knows the right part number.
So, when you think you have the right part number, you sometimes get the wrong card which may or may not work.  It just so happens that the Intel 6230 is one of those cards which no one can seem to find the right part # for.
Therefore, changing a wireless card in any HP notebook--especially a consumer model like yours is nothing short of a nightmare.
    3. No one has an answer for the whitelist issue. If you want to believe that it is to force customers to pay exorbitant markups for replacement parts, that is certainly your prerogative.
If you don't want to pay HP's prices, do what I do and go on eBay and query your search by the HP part number and get a used but tested and working wireless card for pennies on the dollar.

  • Why is the Iphone not compatible with Verizons 4G network?

Will Apple be coming out with an iphone4S that is compatible with Verizons 4G network?

Why? Because it does not have an LTE radio in it.
As for will Apple come out with one that is, nothing has been announced, therefore no-one knows. It's highly doubtful that there will be a version of the 4S that is LTE capable.

What up with this??  As I see it just another marketing ploy

  • Intel centrino advanced n6235 wifi not working only bluetooth

hello could anyone help me with this a bought a new wireless network card with bluetooth but only the bluetooth works and i have a dv7t pavillion cto 6b00 quad edition laptop could anyone please help me, i'll appreciate it , thank you

I don't find that strange at all. The wireless adapter that you chose to purchase ad install is simply not supported by the BIOS.
You do have options. As seen in the image there are two Realtek models for the notebooks in your model series with Intel CPUs that already have BIOS support.
You can install one of those.
What was the originally installed wireless adapter?
If your warranty period is over or warranty is not of a concern to you there is another thing you can do.
There are BIOS mod websites ( do a google search for BIOS mod). Find a site, become a member and request to have the Intel 6325 whitelisted in your current BIOS.
Did you upgrade to the latest BIOS?
    Best regards,

  • Windows 8 bugcheck (133) on T430 & W530 with Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6205 AGN

I have bought both T430 (Windows 8) & W530 (Windows 8 Pro) this ThanksGiving. I have seen both machines crashed when I waked them up from S3. I analyzed the crash dumps, all point to Intel wireless link driver NETwew00.sys.
    Repro steps:
    1. Leave the machine idle, let it go sleep (I did not customize the system power settings so far)
    2. Wake the system up
    3. Black screen for a while, then system restarted
    4. Check c:\windows\memory.dmp
I live in an appartment building, lots of WIFI access points.
Here is the crash dump analysis:

  • Is Advanced Port Replicator III plus compatible with Portege R200

I just ordered a new Portege R200 and the above port-replicator... however, I note that the R200 isn't listed in the supported notebooks list for that replicator! Can anyone confirm if I have made a mistake and need to change the order?
    Will

I have visited the Options & Accessories area on the Toshiba European site and as you already said the Portg R200 is not listed in the list of compatible notebooks.
So I presume the Advanced Port Replicator III plus (PA3474E-1PRP) does not support the Protg R series.

  • Configuring Hardware VPN with Verizon modem/router

    Hi-
I'm a Northern VA FIOS subscriber. Verizon provided the following:
    Modem: Zyxel Prestige 861
    Wireless Router: Actiontec MI424WR
This setup has been working fine.
My job recently gave me a hardware VPN: Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall, Model FVS338
I'm having a bit of difficulty setting it up the way I'd like.
    1) In general, should I connect the HW VPN directly into a free port of the Modem (parallel with the router), or should I connect it into the Router? (Does Verizon support multiple devices connected to the Modem, or do they expect us to connect everything via the router?)
    2) I tried a number of different configurations, and the only way I was able to get the hardware VPN to function was to disconnect the router, connect the VPN box in its place, and configure the VPN box to mimic/use the MAC address of the router. This provided connectivity to the work network, but is not acceptable because I need the wireless home network provided by the router as well.
Does anyone have any recommendations for how to set this up properly?
    Many thanks.
    -Steven
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    From actiontec.com
Can I use the Actiontec Gateway or Router to connect to my employers VPN so that I can work from home?
Yes, the Actiontec Routers and Gateways support connecting to VPN servers. By default, Actiontec Routers and Gateways allow Client VPN traffic to pass-through. (the Actiontec will allow a connected PC to "pass-through" and connect to a remote VPN server).
NOTE: Unless otherwise specified, Actiontec Routers and Gateways do not function as VPN endpoints. They cannot make a VPN connection directly to a VPN server, router or client. The reverse is also true, VPN routers, servers and clients cannot make a VPN connection directly to the Actiontec Router itself. (Some of the proprietary VPN applications require specific ports be opened in the Actiontec, for a successful connection. Not all VPNs use the same ports, so determine the ports used by your VPN software before attempting to forward the ports.)
did you set up the pptp port forwarding rules ?  you should have l2tp (1701) protocol and pptp (1723) port forwarding protocol for port forwarding.

I am new at all this, but when I am trying to install Leopard on my MacBook Pro and I am on the set up assistant, it is asking what internet connection I have. I use the Verizon Smart Card and that isn't one of the options to choose. Am I still able to install it?

    Yes, it is.

  • X201 wireless adapter : Thinkpad vs intel centrino?

Hi- I am going to purchase a X201 laptop- but am confused about the wireless adapter option.  There is the thinkpad bgn and then intel centrino wireless, advanced and ultimate "n" .  The help buttons are of no help.  Under what circumstances would I need to opt for one of the intel centrino adaptes?  Are they faster or more compatible?

Well I'm not and expert, but in a nutshell, with the right antenna setup and router/access point for each, you get speeds up to:
    • ThinkPad Wireless BGN
    • Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000 BGN
    • Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6200 AGN
    • Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 AGN
    • Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 AGN
ThinkPad Wireless BGN: 150Mpbs transmit/300Mbps receive (Realtek-based last I heard).
    Intel® Centrino® Wireless-N 1000 BGN: 150Mbps transmit/300Mbps receive.
    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N 6200 AGN: 300Mbps transmit and receive.
    Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300 AGN: 450Mbps transmit and receive.
    Intel® Centrino® Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 AGN: Adds WiMAX.
These are theoretical maximum speeds and of course the real world rate is lower and ymwv.

Oracle Linux and the Oracle UEK kernel are optimized for server installations and have only limited support for Laptop and Desktop hardware. However, support for your Wifi adapter should be installed by default. You might want to check the following:
    # yum list ipw2200-firmware
    Loaded plugins: security
    Installed Packages
    ipw2200-firmware.noarch   3.1-4.el6    @anaconda-OracleLinuxServer-201302251503.x86_64/6.4
    # modprobe ipw2200
    # lsmod | grep ipw2200
    ipw2200               151920  0
    libipw                 29860  1 ipw2200
    cfg80211              179027  2 ipw2200,libipw

  • L530 with Centrino 6205 - compatible with 5GHz 802.11n?

I have L530 with Centrino Advanced-N 6205 wireless built-in. The computer does not see any of the n networks I have setup (either 2.4GHz or 5GHz). When I get advanced properties on the centrino adapter, the "Wireless mode" shows only a/b/g options and not n.
Is the 6205 adapter compatible with 802.11n? If yes, how can I enable it? I have the latest drivers installed thru Lenovo Thinkvantage Tools app.
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    According to Intel, that's a dual-band "N" card.
See their recommendations on setup here:
    http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/sb/CS-030709.htm
    Two questions:
    a) What type of encryption do you have on the router?
    b) Are other devices able to connect with the router on the "N" networks?
    Cheers,
    George
