Intel graphics 30 bpp support?

Hi, I am looking into a new monitor and have been searching the web for a while on specs for the Intel Graphics 6000 (on my NUC i5). However I can't find any information on the bit per pixel it supports. The manual for my NUC only says the displayport supports 30 bpp and the hdmi port only support 24 bpp, nothing directly concerning the graphics card. Is it only a driver issue or am I missing something here?
Christian

And what is the relevance? Do you actually have a monitor that could benefit from the extended 30bit color range? I'm afraid you are asking the wrong question. That said, it is doubtful that the limited power of any intel graphics could support 30bpc and at the same time keep all required accelerated features in PS running...

  • Thinkpad T440p: Does Intel Graphics really support 3840x2160@60Hz via miniDisplayPort?

I am thinking of purchasing a Thinkpad T440p (i5-4200M, Intel integrated graphics, no NVidia) from a local retailer. My monitor is a Dell P2415Q (3840x2160@60Hz via DP) Will this combination work? Does a T440p i5-4200M Intel-only laptop really support 4K@60Hz as it is stated in Lenovo spec sheets?

  • Which intel cards DO support vaapi?

I'm not sure if multimedia is the right section and not hardware...
I tried to find something about which intel graphic cards support vaapi and the information i found is not very good.
Something like "G45 or newer" does not really help me...
I have an eee 1000h with intel 945GME running with the i915 driver. I think I cannot use libvaa there.
Some websites say you need poulsbo = GMA 500 (whatever this chip is) or i965?
As I am not very familiar with intels chips this does not really help me:
    http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/vaapi
It says "Intel Embedded Graphics Drivers (IEGD)" and this includes support for "Mobile Intel® 945GSE and 945GME Express chipsets" which is my card I think.
Is this included in the i915 or do I need something in addition to this driver or do i need to replace it or am I just misunderstanding what it is saying?
Can someone clear it for me? Maybe with a list of supported cards?

Intel doesn't want to publish the information because of the massive overhaul that they've been doing in their driver model. In short, it's not ready. Freedesktop's Intel implementation is by Intel itself, so they'll only publish what Intel publishes.
The GMA 500 (Poulsbo) is a piece of crap on Linux right now. The most stable driver with any kind of acceptable performance is uvesafb, which has no 3D, hardware decoding support, or color management of any kind. There is no stable driver for this platform for Linux (or even Windows the last time that I checked).
The problem with all of this for desktop users is that desktop Linux is not a priority for Intel. If they have even four developers working full time on the entire Linux stack with desktop use in mind I'd be surprised.
And, to complicate this a little more, uvesafb doesn't work with the latest stable kernel at the time of this post (2.6.34)...
    http://bugs.archlinux.org/task/19645
so, if you haven't already bought a netbook wich comes with the poulsbo chipset (i envy you), my recommendation is: don't do that, at least for now, because poulsbo support under linux is _very_ uncertain ATM.

  • Linux 3.11 breaks triple monitor support on intel graphics

I just ran pacman -Syu, observed linux (3.10.10-1 -> 3.11.1-1), and found that I can no longer use more than 2 monitors simultaneously. When I try to configure 3 or 4 monitors with xrandr or arandr, I get an error message like "xrandr: configure crtc 2 failed".
When I boot with linux-lts 3.10.12, it works reliably again.
I have Intel HD Graphics 4000 on a i5-3320M CPU for a Thinkpad T530 with a ThinkPad Mini Dock Series 3.
I have 4 monitors: internal laptop screen, DVI, DisplayPort, and a USB DisplayLink. With linux 3.10, all 4 can work simultaneously. With linux 3.11, any 2 of them can work simultaneously.
In my journalctl at boot time, I see

My symptoms seem similar to Unable to configure 3 display multihead / X fails to start with 3 displays connected, although that was reported on linux 3.4.

Googling around, I found a few more people with what looks like the same problem commenting at the bottom of wrpll sharing not implemented (3x HDMI/DVI screens).
I have Intel graphics card and it supports triple head setup very well. ... I updated kernel to 3.11.1 after it appeared in Archlinux's repo and one of screens stopped working. I tried to fix it with xrandr but I got only "xrandr: Configure crtc failed" errors and these in Xorg.0.log:
I have a similar setup and am experiencing the same thing. Downgrading to 3.10 fixed the issue. I'm also happy to help fix this.
But apparently it's not the correct bug since someone said "if triple display worked and regressed in recent kernels then you have a different bug."
I think I should report this somewhere, but I'm not sure I understand exactly where (linux or xorg or arch?)

  • Intel Graphics Processors Not Supported!?!?!?

So I read the Logic Studio system requirements and bought the new version for my Core 2 Duo white MacBook, since it fits the specs. I'm just about to install and I read the "Before You Install" doc.
It says about STP and Compressor, "Integrated Intel graphics processors not supported.) Whatthe?
What does this mean? That STP and Compressor won't install on my MacBook?
Shouldn't this have been in the Logic Studio system requirements?
I'm stuck and don't want to install now at all.
    Help?

Well, it all installed, though when I launched STP, it threw up a dialog that said it might not work properly with less the 128 MB VRAM. Oh, joy. We shall see.
Apple really needs to put this on their LogicStudio System Requirements page.

  • NVIDIA NVS Graphic adapter support KVM-Intel AMT/vPro?

    Hi there,
I have a Thinkpad T410, Intel core i7, Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6200 AGN and the NVIDIA NVS 3100m Graphic adapter, I asked to Intel and that adapter does not support KVM:
    http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/showthread.php?t=78585&o=a&s=lr
I need to use KVM and I cannot understand why if the Lenovo product review shows the NVIDIA adapter supports AMT why it acually does not support KVM, so it does not really support AMT (it's just a partial support):
    http://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/showthread.php?t=76173
So, I'm forced to lose a good NVIDIA graphic card for an integrated one, the question is: can I change to Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 57000MHD-AMT? -it's a cheaper one-
    Help!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi javiercaceres!
According to the Hardware Maintenance Manual, it's part of the system board, so the graphics adapter can't be swapped out.
    I don't work for Lenovo. I'm a crazy volunteer!

  • Intel HD Graphics 3000/2000 (Sandybridge) Windows 10 Graphics Driver support ?

Do you know if the Intel HD Graphics 3000/2000 (Sandybridge) is supported on Windows 10?
According to http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-034343.htm there is no support for Intel Graphics HD 3000 for Windows 10.
    Thanks,
    nkef

    NK
According to the link (footnote 2) that cards drivers were only supported in "legacy mode" (compatibility) even in win 8.1. It may do the same in win 10 and the only way to find it is to try it
To install in compatibility mode do the following:
    Right click the installer>properties>compatibility>choose OS
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Make-older-programs-run-in-this-version-of-Windows?SignedIn=1
(works in vista, win 7, win 8, and win 10)

Maybe it is this bug: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=154969
The decisive effect is 'Improved window management' - if this effect is enabled kwin works normally.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

I have a similar issue using the same graphics driver (i965) and I've been unable to track the issue down. I have little more than the stacktrace that X11 spits out. What are your hardware specs or the model of your laptop?
I'm on a Thinkpad W520. The Xorg logs are the only source of information on this issue that I've been able to find. If there's any further requests for information, do ask.

  • I can't install Intel graphics driver for HP Pavilion G6 2240SH under Windows 8.1

    HI!
I installed Windows 8.1 Update 1 x64 to my HP Pavilion G6 2240SH laptop. I started install the drivers and I got an error message in the Intel High-Definition setup: "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software."
    Intel HD driver version: 10.18.10.3277
Can anybody help me to solve this problem?
    Thanks,
    Spatrik
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hello Spatrik,
I have read your post on how your notebook computer is displaying an error message that your updated driver does not meet your system requirements, and I would be happy to assist you!
The first step I recommend is to remove the Intel graphics driver, as well as removing the chipset drivers from Programs and Features. These chipset drivers will be named Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver, and Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver. Once the drivers are removed, please restart your computer.
When the computer powers back on, please download and install the following drivers:
Intel Chipset Installation Utility and Driver
Intel Management Engine Interface (MEI) Driver
    Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
Once these drivers are re-installed, please follow this document on Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8). This should help in updating your computer's Intel drivers.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, and I look forward to your reply!

  • T520 with Optimus - Can't install Intel Graphics Driver in XP

    Hello,
I have T520 with Optimus FHD screen.
I have XP installed in my Ultrabay HDD.
I understand that XP doesn't support Optimus and that I must go to BIOS and choose either Discrete or Integrated.
OPTION 1 (Discrete Only)  Which someone what works:
    - So, when I have Discrete enabled in BIOS - and installed Nvidia Drivers in XP - everything works fine, expcept on 90% initial boot ups after going from Win 7 to XP (F12 Options) -  I assume the NVIDIA driver doesn't get initially recognised and the XP boots up in non native resolution.
    - It's only after I restart again and use (F12 again) to pick Ultrabay with XP, the Nvidia gets properly loaded. But this time, there is a prolong delay (60 to 90 seconds) of black screen after the WIndows XP Welcome screen before the desktop appears.
OPTION 2 (Intgrated Display Only) - Of couse, this after uninstalling NVIDIA Graphic Driver in XP
    - In BIOS, Integrated Graphic in choosen.
    - XP boots up in basic resolution.
    - I download (From Lenovo T520 Driver Page) - Intel Integrated Driver for Win XP 32.
    - When I try to install it, it says "The computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements for installing the software"
    - BTW, I do have all the WIndows Updates including NET 3.0 and higher
    - So then, I try to forcibly installed through Device Manager and Having DISK  - but I get Error message.
    - But somehow, it works after.
One guess I have and that confuses me is the Otimus Graphic Card - where maybe it can only work with either Optimus Drivers in Windows 7 or Nvidia Drivers in Windows XP. And that the Integrated Intel HD Graphic Drivers in for XP on Lenovo website are only meant for T520 with Intel Graphics ??!!
Or can optimus be used with intergrated intel drivers only in the XP?
If anyone can shed a small light, I would be grateful.
    Thanks You
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Glad to know everything is working for you.
You shouldn't need the discrete to watch flash videos, the Intel integrated should be able to handle that on its own.
The nVidia card shouldn't be running at all when the machine is in integrated . In fact it doesn't even run in Optimus except when it is actively being used. nVidia proved this when it was first demoing the technology. nVidia removed the nVidia chip from the motherboard of an active system that was running in Optimus using only the integrated graphics, and the computer kept running without issue and the power consumption was the same with and without the chip on the board.
If you really wanted FireFox to always run with the nVidia card (again, I don't know why you would want this) you can change the settings in the nVidia control panel to force FireFox to run with discrete.

  • Intel Graphics

Maybe this isn't in the right forum, feel free to move it.
So I've been hearing that the intel graphics are working really well under linux. I've had experience with intel integrated graphics in a vaio in the past. It was a horrible card, even within windows. I'f I were to get a notebook with recent intel gfx card, would it be able to handle some lighter games (like tremulous, openarena, etc)
Or would I be better off going with one of the RadeonHD cards?

current intel is going through a transition phase as we're transitioning to the GEM structure but support is not yet properly enabled in xorg. using an older version or development packages will give you good performance though. A few months from now you can expect very good performance on intel cards when xorg server 1.6, kernel 2.6.29 and Intel 2.6.x drivers are all out.

Radeon. Intel has some features I need, but after googling, finding
    and reading this topic:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?14@@.59b6c473/0
till the end, I see it does not fully support Photoshop
CS4!!! I also need Flash CS4 working, so does it support Flash?
So can you still recommend me buying intel integrated-laptop
or should I take an ATI Radeon powered one? I need Flash working
without annoying compatibilites problems. I don't want to buy an
Intel one, if it is not Photoshop- and Flash- compatible....
    Thank you!

It's important you understand what "fully support" means in
    this
context. According to Eric Palmer's Dec 4 reply (12:11pm),
    Photoshop CS4
does, in fact, run reliably on systems with Intel graphics.
    Eric purports
to be an Intel employee, but obviously there's no proof of
    that.
Regardless, his assertion jibes with with I hear from
    colleagues with Intel
    graphics chips.
It's not as if Photoshop suddenly fails if you happen to
    choose, say,
red from the color swatches. It's not as if Photoshop fails
    to export GIFs
on Intel machines. The only thing you're missing -- and this
    is true for me
too, even though I don't have Intel equipment -- is
    functionality that
relies on OpenGL. One of these features, for example, lets
    you rotate the
canvas while you work on a file. I don't mean rotate the
    image itself ... I
mean rotate the actual work space without resampling the
    image, just as if
you were rotating the piece of paper on which you were
    drawing. Granted,
that sounds like a neat feature (I'd like to experiment with
    it, myself!),
    but it's not a deal-breaker.
As far as I've seen, the Flash CS4 authoring tool doesn't
    rely on any
    OpenGL-accelerated features.
