Intel HD 4600 - Switchable Graphics not Switching

HP,
My laptop is currently up to date with your software (9.18.10.3324) for Intel HD 4600, however - not up to date with Intel's Iris drivers (15.33.22.64.3621) - what gives?
My current issue is attempting to load DayZ using the ATI (in Switchable Graphcis Settings) High Performance Settings, which i've set everything to default to "High performance" but it defaults to software settings (Intel HD 4600) instead of the builtin AMD Radeon HD 8600/8700M. I've attempted to disable hybrid graphics in BIOS, which takes away the option for the AMD chip once i return back to windows so that was a dead end. I've attempted to add the applciation as "high performance", which did nothing. I've attempted to update my outdated drivers to Intel's release but they don't "match my system"
How can I disable the Intel HD 4600 so the only video card running on this laptop is the Dedicated Graphics Card?

  • AMD CCC / switchable graphics not working properly

    Hi all,
ok first of all i read bunch of posts on this forums, and on most of them i saw only responds with links and to download and update drivers - and those things seems not to work for most of people. So i decided to write here a post where someone will actually fix this problem because it is common on most of HP laptops.
First of all, i bought my laptop in Qatar while i was on bussiness there.
    Model: Pavilion dv6-6b20se
    Product Number: A6N20EA#ABV
Graphics: Intel HD 3000 and AMD HD 6490
I bought this computer because im working as an architect and designer and sometimes i need it for rendering, and yea i would like to mention that part time i love to play games. So at that time (2 years ago) and for that money it was pretty decent laptop.
So i've never touched anything myself on laptop, i always let my HP Support Assisstant do the work it is on computer. To be honest i didnt even know that this option of Switchable graphics exist. Until yesterday when i put game to play and i got problem wherever i press ESC it closes came and it crashes.
I googled around and I saw that the problem apears when your graphic card is low.
    Requirements for the game:
    Minimum System Requirements
    MinimumOS: Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor: 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
Memory: 1 GB RAM for Windows XP / 2 GB RAM for Windows Vista and Windows 7
Graphics: 256 MB (With Pixel Shader 3.0 support)
    DirectX: DirectX 9.0 c compatible
    Hard Drive: 15 GB
    Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Supported Chipsets: NVIDIA GeForce 6800 or greater, ATI Radeon X1600 Pro or greater.
Please note that NVIDIA GeForce 7300, 8100, 8200, 8300, 8400, and 9300; ATI Radeon HD3200 and HD 4350 are below minimum system requirements. Updates to the video and sound card drivers may also be required.
    Recommended System Requirements
    OS: Windows XP SP3 / Windows Vista SP1 / Windows 7
Processor: 2.6+ GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent AMD CPU
    Memory: 2 GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 2900 XT, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT, or better
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c August 2008 (included)
    Hard Drive: 15 GB
    Sound: DirectX 9.0c compatible
So by looks of specs here and specs of my computer and the game is like 4 years old, it should fly on my computer.
I googled a bit more and i saw that every program reads only Intel HD graphic card and not AMD. Ok so i went and checked tutorilas on youtube how to switch it and there is where my suprise was. When i open CCC as per everyone on internet i dont have Switchable Graphic option - only Power Play. So i read on your website that some computers need to be set in BIOS from Dynamic which was my original setting to FIXED. I did that to but my option when i right click on desktop for switchable graphics disaper and my CCC is not working.
Ok so i went to your website again, was looking for original drivers for my computer. And there are 3 drivers.
    1.AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver
2.AMD/Intel Switchable High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
    3.Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver
Ok so when i download them, i can install only No.1, other two i get message that i dont have minimum requirements.
so i checked those to, and it says that  you need to have windows 7 which i have since i got this laptop with original licensed product.
The thing is when i install new version of AMD driver and CCC i get switchable graphics option when i right-click on desktop, but when i get in in CCC i get defoult page and there is no option to switch. When i update intel graphics i loose switching. Either way, it wont work, and im stuck with crappy card that i cant use on bunch of programs and games that i need it for.
So please for once give us a bit detailed answer on how we can fix this. Because it is not only me that have this problem, alot of people are having them and they still cant fix this.
Sorry for my lenghty post, but i thought i needed to explain in more debth.
Thanks in front for reading and takning time to answer.

And yea i forgot one thing. When ever i instal newer version of AMD driver in Device manager it changes from AMD HD 6490M to AMD HD 7400M Series. Dont know why it constatnly does that.

  • Windows 7 RTM x64 Power Manager and switchable graphics not working

Installed Windows 7 RTM x64 on my T400. After windows update and installing Lenovo's drivers, everything is accounted for. ATI graphics works fine, and I can see the Intel graphics on the shortcut menu. I just cannot manually switch to the built-in graphics, nor did I see the Power Manager. What do I need to do? I have installed the drivers for the power management, even though on the list of driver on lenovo's webpage it says it's only for SL models.
    Help would be appreciated.
    Specs:

Have you installed the Power manager http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html#powm ?
And after that, make sure you have installed the right driver (the one for switchable graphics): http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html#m8xswitch
    Hope that helps.
I also have Windows 7 Professional x64 on my T400 and everything works fine (i only uses programs and driver from here: http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/WIN7-BETA.html

  • Onboard/discrete graphics not switching properly

I have a 2010 15" MBP i7, and I very rarely can get the discrete graphics to engage. Even when using graphics-intensive processes the MBP would continue to use the intel board. I just installed gfxCardStatus, which does allow me to trigger onboard/discrete whenever I want (or power-dependent), but I'd like to know if anyone else has discovered their MBP not switching, and if they were able to remedy it without third-party software...

I believe so long as the video card you are getting supports this, it is possible. I have never done it myself, but I seem to remember reading about it as part of crossfire.

  • Switchable graphics not working on windows 10

Model: HP Pavilion dm4-1024TXI currently upgraded my Operating System from Windows 7 to Windows 10. I have issues with switchable graphics. Iam not able to use My graphics card(ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5000 Series). Updated driver using windows update and even tried updating from ADM website, Still doesn't work. Right now iam unable to use any graphics intensive applications.      Will HP provide Switchable Graphics Driver  Windows 10 update for my laptop model? Is there any fix for this issuse?Or should i Revert Back to Windows 7

Hi, I had the same problem on my HP laptop and finally figured out a solution.  1. I downloaded the Windows 7 version of the drivers from the HP website (make sure it's the hp version not the generic amd driver). 2. Uninstalled the drivers that were installed. Type in Device Manager, select Update Devices then display adapters, right click and uninstall both devices.3. Reboot4. Install the intel driver in Windows 7 compatibility mode5. Unzip the AMD exe file using 7zip 6. Go into Device Manager again, right click on the AMD graphics adapter, Update Driver software, Browse computer, Let me pick, Have disk. Browse to the AMD folder and find the INF file that works.7. Reboot Now I can use an external monitor. Catalyst control panel doesn't work, but I can do what I need to do.

  • HP 15-g505nc (K7R17EA) - Switchable Graphics not working

    Hello,
I have a problem with my switchable laptop graphics (A4-6210 APU with R3 / HD 8570). When I try to run some games or more demanding application with high performance settings, applications are using only APU integrated graphics, but not dedicated. Even in game setting dedicated GPU is recognized, but the option is greyed out. I've tried to install both latest AMD Omega drivers (14.501.1003.0) and also HP provided drivers for my model (13.351.1105.1005) with no success. Also in BIOS there is no option to cofigure swtichable graphics.
Please, need some help. I'm pretty new HP and AMD user. I was used to intel/nvidia hardware, so maybe I am overseeing something. Thanks.

    Hi @LukasB92 ,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums. I see that you are having some problems with the switchable graphics options. I will be happy to show you how to use the dedicated card. You will actually use the Catalyst Control Center to determine which program uses which graphics card. This HP document on switchable graphics Figure 1 will show you how to use the Catalyst Control Center. Make sure that you are using this HP AMD High-Definition Graphics Driver.

  • [G510] Intel HD 4600 integrated graphics and AMD HD 8570M

    Greetings!
I have recently ordered a Lenovo G510 with an Intel i5-4200M cpu and an AMD HD 8570M gpu. While waiting for my laptop, I have been doing some research regarding any issues I might face (something that would make me really upset, since it took me forever to decide which laptop to purchase for my needs, university and work related tasks and some gaming, and it really cost me a considerable - compared to my budget - amount of money) and I came across a problem that people face when they upgrade to windows 8.1 or downgrade  to windows 7. As other users have stated, the "switchability" of the graphics malfunctions on every os apart from the pre-installed windows 8 (I'm not sure if it doesn't malfunction in that case as well). That being said, I want to ask whether such problems existed and if they persist. I suspect they are caused by driver issues, so they should have been fixed with the release of an appropriate driver.
I'm eagerly waiting for anyone's response, thanks!

A fast response could save me from buying a laptop that i won't be able to get to work, so bump
I also failed to note that I want to upgrade to Windows 8.1 and I don't plan to stick with Windows 8, so if the gpu won't work after the upgrade it would be a dealbreaker for me..

  • T540p (20BE) Intel HD 4600 Lenovo Version drivers will not install. (Fix provided)

    Hi all.
I figured I would post this issue. I recently did (another) re-install of my Windows 7 Professional OS from a Windows OEM DVD. I noticed that when I attempted to install the Intel HD 4600 Video Graphics drivers from the Lenovo site, I got an error saying "This computer does not meet the minimum requirements for installing the software." I have the dual-video graphics system (Intel HD 4600 & NVIDIA GeForce 730M) T540p Lenovo package. In order to install the NVIDIA mobile chipset drivers, you must first install the Intel drivers which fails to run.
Resolution:  Download and install the Intel HD 4600 drivers from Intel's website, install, and reboot. Once installed the NVIDIA drivers can then be installed.
Hope this saves people some headaches in the future.
    Thanks.

Ok, Gyz... since Lenovo driver team has hands grown from the arses.... they manage to forget adding proper HW id to the inf file provided in the recent drivers.
My sys has id : PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0416&SUBSYS_221117AA&REV_06
    Thats what I did:
    1) Downloaded recent drivers from lenovo (sfx exe).
    2) Ran it and got error "your system is not ... something"
    3) At this point it made folder with intel crap on c:\drivers\video\
    4) I edited c:\drivers\video\graphics\ki103976.inf by adding tis line:
    %iHSWGT2UT% = iHSWM_w7, PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0416&SUBSYS_221117AA
Just find simular hw id string under "; HSW Classic" and add.
Then I ran setup exectutable and have my updates. This works for win7 x64. If u need fix for win8, go your windows/inf directory and find oem92.inf, then you can find your hw id string and add it in same manner to the proper section of the inf.

  • Intel hd 4600 crashes while playing games

I have an HP ENVY 700 series PC with an Intel i5 processor and an Intel HD 4600 onboard graphics processor running Windows 8.1 64 bit.  When playing high graphics games the computer will restart itself.  This happens with all full screen games, (Diablo III, Starcraft II, Sim City, etc).  I have tried all of the suggestions given on other forums.  None work.  I have the game graphics set to the lowest settings and the resolution in the game set to the same resolution the computer uses.
Does anyone have any REAL solution to this problem.

    Fred, welcome to the forum.
The best solution is a discrete video card.  Integrated video simply is not designed for gaming.  This will no doubt require a power supply unit (PSU) upgrade, as well.
If you would like more help, you should provide the full model of the computer.

  • [Y40] Switchable Graphics seems to not be working. Every game is running on the Intel HD graphics?

So, I went on the Switchable Graphics options. I put Counterstrike Global Offensive on the "High Performance" option. Which means it should be on my AMD Radeon R9 M275 2GB, right? I tried monitoring what GPU it uses as well, but that's bugged and won't tell me.
Anyways, on low settings, CS:GO lags to hell! What? This is a quad core i7 processor with a 2 GB card. Why can't I play CS:GO without lag. I'm talking about below 20 FPS. Even though it SAYS Optimum or High Performance, it seems to be running off of the Intel HD graphics.
    Thanks.

I know this is an old thread but I had the same question and found the solution.
So, anyone else who is curious, open the AMD Catalyst Control Center and check the settings for the "Switchable Graphics Global Settings" and the "Switchable Graphics Application Settings".
That should fix the switchable graphics issue.

  • AMD 5650/Intel switchable graphics setup configuration woes

I was wondering if someone could help me with my POS HP DV7-4100 ATI Radeon 5650/Intel switchable graphics setup.  I'm so annoyed with this and don't know how to proceed but it looks like I'm not completing the configuration properly.
I have tried seemingly everything so far:
    Catalyst w/ Catalyst-utils
    Catalyst-hook
    Catalyst w & w/out utils-pxp
    Catalyst-total-pxp
Anyway, loading catalyst without xorg.conf seems to get me the closest to a working setup but once I log into Cinnamon, I get a message saying that it has loaded in fallback mode and if I would like to try to restart cinnamon (nothing happens).
This leads me to believe that this is a config issue.
This is the dmesg without an xorg.conf file.

  • Radeon HD 8750m switchable graphics driver BY HP is not working on Windows 8.1

    Hello all,
    I have  laptop Envy 6-1200el.
It's a good machin but I have always been annoyed by video drivers trouble.
When I bought my PC last year it worked good when we had Windows 8, but the video drivers didn't work properly already there.
The drivers made troubles when I tryed to start some 3D applications as Batman: Arkham Asylum. The problem was the HP video driver. That driver is made by Radeon HD drivers plus Intel HD 4000 series all together.
To make the two video cards working together properly you cannot use intel driver installation first then the AMD catalyst installation utility, but you need a driver installation utility that installs the two video cards both, otherwise the switchable graphics will not work properly and 3D applications won't start.
When I had Windows 8.1 update I had absolutely to find a new driver. I downloaded the automatic utility from AMD site and luckily it downloaded an updated driver that was including and installing together both the video cards properly. Since there my laptop started to work very good in everithing.
Some days ago I had to format my PC and that good video driver got lost.
I installed almost everithing including windows 8.1 update but I sadly discovered that on AMD site it was downloadable only the Radeon HD driver not including any more switchable graphics installation and Intel HD driver.
I have now installed the video driver given by HP on the right laptop portal, but this driver IS SO BAD!!!
HP says that it's an update driver working properly on Windows 8.1 but it's false!
MY PC WITH THAT HP DRIVER IS MAKING MANY TROUBLES:
    - 3D GAMES ARE NOT STARTING OR NOT WORKING PROPERLY;
    - PASSING THE MOUSE ON THE NEW START BUTTON ON WINDOWS 8.1, THE BUTTON BECOMES BLACK!
    - HP UTILITY CENTER IS NOT OPENING;
    - HP SUPPORT ASSISTANT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY;
    - THE SYNAPTICS MOUSE DRIVER DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY, THE DOUBLE TOUCH DOESN'T WORK ETC.;
    - iNTEL DRIVERS INCLUDED ON THAT HP PACKAGE ARE OLD;
    - SWITCHABLE GRAPHICS DOESN'T WORK GOOD AND IS NOT ABLE TO ADDRESS SOME 3D CHARGES TO THE RIGHT CARD.
PLEASE HP RELEASE AN UPDATE! pLEASE MAKE A REAL COMPLETE DRIVER THAT IS REALLY ACTUAL AND IS REALLY WORKING ON WINDOWS 8.1 WITHOUT CONFLICTS, WITHOUT GRAPHICS ERRORS ETC.!!!
THIS SITUATION IS UNACCETTABLE, SOLVE IT PLEASE!

    Hi Fotoji,
I want to be honest, it's very disappointing for me to be treated like a child.
You should know that most of the people you meet here in this forum are not n00bs and the causes you suggest to consider haveall already been excluded in every way you would try yourself too!
The fact you say, that the issues are caused by a 'broken OS' are so disappointing and unbelievable!
I work in IT field since I was 14yo and now I am a graduated 28 who knows very well how to handle a PC in a clean and smart way.
Look, many of these issues was already 'on' when I bought and started my PC for the very FIRST TIME.
The video drivers needed are auto-installing drivers containing intel and AMD video drivers both and installed together at the same time.
The first day I had my PC the system was VIRGIN, I simply installed steam then ran 'Batman:Arkham Asylum' to make a try, it has never ran up, no matter if the OS is W8 or W8.1, no matter if the PC is new or used for 6 months, that driver has never worked good.
I tryed many things, used HP recovery manager several times in order to make a clean OS new installation, but it always went like that.
Recently I sent my computer to HP Italy fro an hardisk problem, replaced in warranty. The laptop came back CLEAN, perfect, with W8.1 and all the new recent drivers.
The problem was the same, games did not run or ran badly, the start symbol was black, HP Utility Center didn't work.
So tell me where's the magic when I unistall in a CLEAN AND CORRECT way those video drivers, why EVERITHING COMES TO WORK SO GOOD BACK????
Some months ago I knew that those drivers where so bad so I tryed to download the original driver package from AMD site, hoping that they was including the intel video drivers both, and guess...IT WORKED!
Those drivers was including the intel video drivers too during installation, then after a restart I had NO GRAPHICS ERROR, NO HP UTILITY CENTER FREEZE, ANY GAME OR 3D APPLICATION WORKED AT LEAST 2x FASTER AND NOT ANY COMPATIBILITY PROBLEM IN ANY STATE OR SITUATION.
Unfortunately my laptop started to have maybe some motherboard power problems and my HDD passed away then HP took my pc and fixed it.
When it came back it was perfect again, virgin, with all the update installed, with those bad HP drivers installed again, so with all those problems that I found since I bought it: graphics error, compatibility problems, some programs freeze, all WHITOUT TOUCHING ANYTHING!!!
I knew that I would solve it just downloading the right drivers directly from AMD site but UNLUCKILY THE NEW CATALYST 14.4 DIDN'T INCLUDE THE INTEL VIDEO DRIVER ANY MORE.
I had all those compatibility, stability and graphics problems always with a just-formatted computer with all the updates installed, a virgin untouched machine just formatted completely automatically using HP recovery manager or fixed by your engeneers!!!
The only case everithing worked very good was when I used the original AMD's drivers, when these used to inclued the intel graphics drivers too during AUTO-INSTALLATION.
I am replying now using a just-formatted machine automatically and perfectly just using HPRECOVERY MANAGER,and updated using WINDOWS UPDATE and HP SUPPORT CENTER self updater.
So guess what???? When I uninstall in A CORRECT WAY your HP video drivers (doesn't matter if the new one or the oldest) everything works good back, and when I used original AMD drivers everything worked so good.
It's so hard to do something wrong about it, the driver installation utility are IDIOT-PROOF, you cannot do anything during installation except for clicking the RESTART button.
So AMD used to make perfect drivers and now not any more, sadly, every issue disappears without your driver installed, HP sent me a perfect virgin computer with the same issues.
So please, don't tell me that AMD is able to make better software, don't tell me HP is not able to handle a recovery and sent me a pc with the same issues, don't tell me I probably made a bad use of my VIRGIN laptop after years spent on SGI workstations UNIX based.
I know how to keep a pc clean, and I'm telling you something more: the new synaptics mousepad driver package you are giving from HP website and HP support center DOESN'T WORK GOOD TOO!!!
Once you accept the auto update it starts with the self installation, but after the restart gess what?? The double toe gesture used to simulate the right click doesn't work any more!!!
No matter if you try to change any option in the control panel, no matter if you have windows 8 or 8.1, just try to unistall that and reinstall the old synaptics mouse driver and, OH WOW MAGIC, IT WORKS GOOD BACK AGAIN!!!
    So now what?
Are you thinking that HP engeneers who fixed my laptop wasn't able to re-install windows and drivers?
The IT engineers working for HP are maybe also n00bs that can't handle a pc format and send me a BROKEN OS as you said?
I am magically breaking my os system just clicking one time on clean automatic HP recovery button then click on the automatic update buttons twice????
Perhaps AMD is able to make more stable end recent drivers than HP does???
(considering that aven the last HP graphics drivers update is so bad because the intel side of the package is very old and you can recognize it just making a comparison with the new intel additional control panel!)
I don't need to recover the system for the 4th time in a proper way (plus HP fix would be the 5th!), I know these silly things.
I need to be taken seriously and not be treated like a grandmother who's not able to switch-on a smartphone!
I would challenge anyone to operate on my computer and try to solve it using Teamviewer and HP's drivers!
I think I've been quite hard nut hopefully clear, so please do something more than giving me a manual fro grannies.
    Thank you.

  • Switchable Graphics Mode in the BIOS is not listed(seen)

    Hi everyone!
    I've read that:
NOTE: If you do not see Switchable Graphics Mode in the BIOS or it cannot be selected, see the following section Updating the BIOS to enable Fixed Mode .
However,  I didn't see that switachable craphics mode is seen in my BIOS:
    Product Name: HP Pavilion dv6-6093ex
    Product Number : LM610EA#A2N
    Version of BIOS is: F.05.
    Vendor of BIOS is: Insyde
Also, I would say that my BOIS is not a UEFI BIOS because I cannot navigate the menus with a mouse but only just with the keyboard.
However, I really was told that I shouldn't update the BIOS unless I am having a problem with it.
Thus, I am afraid that if I had updated it, I would be encountring some problems not loading my machine well. However, I really want to know how to switch to external or internal adapter, thus I read here:

  • Do I have switchable graphics or not?

My T61P with the NVIDIA graphics died on me Friday. I was "under the gun" and wanted to get back up quickly and decided to replace it with another T series. I scored a "fixer upper" T500 (2422 7VU; xxxxx 09/09) off craigslist. It recognized my T61p Windows 8.1 Pro system disk and booted up straight away. After downloading and installing all the drivers I could find, it's not clear to me whether or not I have "switchable graphics" or not. I have a mini dock and dual monitor set-up. My main Lenovo screen is 1280 x 800 and the only display driver showing is "Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (WDDM 1.1)" My secondary display is a Samsung SyncMaster EX2220 running at 1920 x 1080. It is connected to the DVI port on the mini dock. I've installed "Switchable Graphics Controller(s)" and the ATI Catalyst Control Center but I don't see an ATI display adapter in Device Manager. If I right click on the Desktop and select "Catalyst Control Center" two processes are started; "ccc.exe" (Catalyst Control Center?) and "MOM.exe" (Monitor?). I also noticed that after these two processes are started, my installed memory drops from 8GB to 7.91GB. I've installed the Thinkvantage Power Monitor but when I select "High Perfomance" in Control Panel Power Options "Apply" is "greyed out" If I try to start any of the programs in the Catalyst Control Program Files folder nothing happens? Do I have an ATI chipset installed or not? If so, how do I make it work?
I haven't cracked it open except to install the memory modules, although I will probably do so soon. The CPU fan assembly has a really annoying rattle. That will certainly tell me more, but maybe someone knows the answer. Compared to my T61p with NVIDIA 570M this system feels a little sluggish and jerky when watching video.
    Any insight would be appreciated.

    Solved!

    Hi there,
here is a direct link to the Lenovo Drivers & Software download page: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/default.page?
You can also access it by clicking "Support Drivers & Downloads" at the top of this page, choose "Think laptops" then "Drivers & Software."
If your type/model # is indeed 2242-7VU then here are your factory specs:
    ThinkPad T500 (2242-7VU):
    Based on 2242-CTO: P8400(2.26GHz), 2GB RAM, 320GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1280x800 LCD, Intel 4500MHD, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, Camera, 6c Li-Ion, WinXP Pro
As you can see you have Intel graphics only. For example, I have a T500 here which I have upgraded and will be selling soon. It came with the following factory specs:
    ThinkPad T500 (2055-2CU):
    T9400(2.53GHz), 2GB RAM, 160GB 5400rpm HD, 15.4in 1680x1050 LCD, 256MB ATI Radeon HD3650, CDRW/DVDRW, Intel 802.11agn wireless, Bluetooth, Modem, 1Gb Ethernet, UltraNav, Secure chip, Fingerprint reader, 6c Li-Ion, WinVista Business 32
I installed the ThinkPad Switchable Graphics Driver for Windows 7 (which is found towards the bottom of the "Display" drivers listed on the Drivers & Downloads page). Then, to switch back and forth between Intel or ATI graphics (which they call "Energy saving" vs. "High Performance", I simply right click the Lenovo Power Manager icon, which I have installed). In your case you only need to install the "Intel GM45 Display Driver" but should first un-install any "ATI" drivers as having the wrong graphics drivers can cause "sluggish" video. Then again, Intel 4500 graphics is not that advanced. I can't advise which video driver to use for Windows 8.1, as I find it a useless burden to mankind , and only use Windows 7 on my systems. However, I'm sure T500 Windows 8 drivers have been discussed many times on this Forum, so just use the "search" function above. Anyways, it sounds like you may have already gotten the correct driver from Windows update.
One more thing: You need to clean/ lubricate/ re-do the thermal paste on that machine if you hear a rattling noise. Else just change out the entire fan/heatsink assembly. It's very easy to do, and T500 fan/heatsinks are available pretty inexpensively. Then, you will find you need not even bother with TPFC.62.
P.S. Don't mind my overly-detailed responses. It's just the teacher in me  I'm sure you know most of these things. I always write assuming completely un-initiated laptop owners may read these posts later on and be glad for simple step-by-step instructions.
Have a great day. (I do not work for Lenovo)

  • About 2 scream!!! NOT SWITCHABLE GRAPHICS PROBLEM!!! Vid card seems 2 FAIL PERIOD!!!

I have the dv7-6135dx with the intel/radeon 6490 blah blah blah. You guys know the machine. Every time i try to find information regarding the bleeding ati card, all i can find is switchable graphics this switchable that, bios update for switcha....
When i disabled the dynamic in bios long ago, i lost ability to control screen brightness. Was very dim. Haven't tried it again.
When i plug in a monitor to HDMI port=nothing. Vga port works fine but i can not watch any video greater than 1.2 Gb without super skipping and digital breakup of the video (the million tiny boxes thing).
From ati site, auto thingy detected my card, gave me best driver, installed and when i open catalyst, it always says can not start because no ati device.
Before? I could watch 18gb hd vids with stunning performance. Now? Its dvd rips or choke and die.
Can SOMEBODY.... ANYBODY tell me what if any troubleshooting there is to see if the card is shot, or if there is a fix please? One that does NOT involve some gahrbajje about bleeding switchable bloody graphics?
Thanks in advance for any and all help in THIS matter.

    Hey,
i don't know if this works, but for my TimelineX laptop it works:

I don't know if there is an "official" version, so I can just provide you with the link above. This script stops my radeon card when I boot. I only have as kernel parameter i915.modeset=1
and my intel card is always on.
