Intel HD Integrated Graphics Photoshop CS5.5
Tested video cards | Photoshop CS5
I own CS5.5 and I need a new cheap PC to switch my license to since my laptop is dying.
The video card is Intel® HD Integrated Graphics and the link above says it is "TESTED" for CS5.
Am I safe to assume:
A. If that card is listed, and there are no known issues, then I am safe to purchase my PC with this card.
B. If A is correct... then can I assume if it was tested for CS5 it is also ok for CS5.5?
Thanks, if you are using this card and it works, or have experience with it not working please let me know. I would like to buy a new machine soon.
Weird. After I bought a new hard drive (SSD, actually) and reinstalled everything, all seems to be well with Photoshop.

Intel's integrated graphics chipsets
Im considering about intel's integrated graphics chipsets. I have dedicated ati radeon mobility hd5650 graphics card. My processor is 1st generation intel core i5. All intel processors have built-in graphics chipsets like (intel hd2000, or lower configuration)??? If they are how can i disable my ati card and start using intel's built-in graphics chipset?
I have the same setup (first generation i5, Radeon 5650). Here is how I do it:
1. Mount debugfs in /etc/fstab (to get the vgaswitcheroo directory needed later)
2. Black list the radeon driver in /etc/modprobe.d/modprobe.conf
3. If using an xorg.conf file, make sure the intel driver is used
4. (Using KDE) I have a script in ~/.kde4/Autostart called ati-off that contains the following
sudo modprobe radeon
sudo sh -c "echo OFF > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch"
The last step is necessary because if the radeon card is not enabled and shut off with VGA switcheroo, it will still consume power and make the laptop temperature rise.
I don't know if all these steps are currently necessary -- I set it up like this probably 18 months ago and haven't changed it since. -
Best Mac Pro Quad-Core Intel Xeon Machine for PhotoShop CS5/Lightroom
I want to buy a new Mac Pro. I use it almost exclusively to process large quantities of digital images, with large files sizes. Am I better off going with the lower power Dual Quad Processor, or the Higher Power single Quad Processor? I want speed for light room and CS5. DO LIghtroom and CS5 support these Dual Quad machines? Or am I better just getting the highest speed single Quad Machine
thanks
Chuck
[email protected]Hi Photoman1125,
With regard to Photoshop CS5 the 8-Core has the advantage of 64GB maximum RAM compared to 32GB for the Quad Core, and CS5 can use all the RAM which is available.
The 3.33GHz Quad Core would have the edge in performance over the 2.26GHz 8-Core for most applications.
However, the 8-Core could prove more future-proof in the long term, particularly if advancement in software makes more use of the additional processor and extra RAM.

Intel 915 Integrated Graphics - Sluggish behavior in general
I'm running Arch on an old Dell Laptop (Inspiron B130, to be exact)
Includes a 1.5 GHz single-core Celeron, 1 GB RAM, and Intel Integrated 915 graphics.
What would be the recommended configuration for optimal performance? Right now, I'm using the intel driver and the Xfce desktop environment. Some sites in Firefox (such as Facebook) seem to scroll rather slowly.
Is there anything I can do to get things running a little smoother? (Would the i810 driver provide better performance, or anything else for that matter?)
Thanks in advance.

Any ideas? It almost seems like the window borders "come up" slower than the windows themselves... that doesn't seem right. Stuff in general just seems slow.Xyne wrote:http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=65460
Seriously, posting identical threads in two different areas is pointless. Not only do you litter the forum, you also split up replies which means that anyone looking for a solution to the same problem will have less of a chance of finding it quickly.
Yeah, sorry about that. Was going to ask a mod or admin to have the thread you mentioned moved here, because it seemed like a more fitting section. Oops. -

Systemd multiseat with NVidia card and Intel integrated graphics
I'm trying to set up multiseat Gnome 3 on a system running the nvidia proprietary drivers. The first seat on the nvidia GPU is working fine. For the second seat I'm trying to use an integrated Intel GPU, but all I get is the GDM "Oh no, something has gone wrong" screen. I'm not sure why, but I suspect it could be because the intel driver is also trying to load nvidia's libglx.so:

[MASTER] graphics:fb1 "inteldrmfb"One thing you can do to ensure highest perfomance on games is go to the Nvidia Control Panel, Manage 3D Settings, Programs, then find the game you want and set it to use only NVIDIA High Performance (or Discrete) graphics. You can't use both cards at the same time as of writing this (DirectX 11), but with the arrival of Windows 10 and DirectX 12 on July 29 you will be able to use both at once to increase performance. Until then, though, it is simply not possible to use both at once. The best option is to just use the GTX 860M.

Photoshop crashing when my 3rd monitor is on (3rd monitor uses Integrated Graphics)
So as I said in the title, when my third monitor is on (which is hooked up to my i5's integrated graphics photoshop crashes a lot. When I go to my Device Manager and disable it, photoshop workes flawlessly.
My main videocard is a Radeon 6970 2gb, so it has no problems running photoshop alone. The processor seems to just get in the way. Any way around this?If you read Adobe Site about GPU support you will read you can not mix display adapters. It is posible to hook all three of your displays to your 6970.

Photoshop cs5 64-bit hangs all the time when editing photos on Win 7 64-bit?
Recently installed Master Suite Collection CS5 on Win 7 64-bit. The computer is a 64-bit i5-480 CPU Lenovo and has an Intel HD GPU. Photoshop CS5 64-bit hangs constantly when I load a picture for editing and there is no way to get rid of the photoshop process except for a reboot. Have tried PSkill, and other options and nothing can get rid of it excetp for a re-boot. This is a major pain because I cannot get any work done.
The Master Suite cost me a fortune and can't get a basic application to work properly
Help!!!Let me first start by saying the Intel GPU drivers that implement OpenGL are often faulty. That's quite possibly the root cause of your problems.
If you reconfigure Photoshop not to try to use the OpenGL subsystem, via Edit - Preference - Performance, and unchecking the [ ] Enable OpenGL Drawing checkbox, does it get any better? Make sure to close and restart Photoshop after making this configuration change.
It is possible Intel has released newer drivers that may have corrected the OpenGL problems. Check their web site.

Photoshop CS5 OpenGL support with latest Intel integrated graphics?
Intel's latest "Sandy Bridge" CPUs (Core i5 2500, Core i7 2600, etc.) included much-improved integrated GPUs, thus allowing for systems that do not require a discrete graphics card. Although not suitable for high-end gaming, the specs appear to be more than enough for Photoshop CS5's GPU acceleration needs. Can anyone confirm or deny that CS5 will be able to take advantage of the new Intel HD 2000 and HD 3000 graphics? The driver specs say it supports OpenGL 3.0 and Shader Model 4.0, both of which satisfy the minimum requirements of OpenGL 2.1 and Shader Model 3.0 for Photoshop CS5.
I'm 99% sure the latest hardware is supported, as Adobe's own document mentions "Intel HD Graphics", just not the specific model numbers. The document was also last updated in November 2010, before the current series of CPUs were released to the public.

Surely those won't stress an OpenGL implementation that is aimed to work in scientific visualization apps, model rendering, 3D games, and so on?
Having implemented my own OpenGL applications over the past several years, I can tell you that it's absolutely not that simple. The word "surely" cannot be applied here.
Photoshop, in displaying 2D things with a 3D system, is NO DOUBT using OpenGL differently than any other application has ever used OpenGL. It's the nature of the beast. What they put in which type of buffers at what time in which mode using what calls in which order and using what performance features are all open choices. The software itself makes choices at run time about what parts to use based on OpenGL version and advertised capabilities. Plus they're using Shaders (on-GPU programming), and there are a bunch of different ways to get that done as well.
In order for a system to run perfectly, the applications and video driver / GPU subsystem have to get things exactly right all the time every time, and not just for Photoshop but for all the other apps (and Aero) as well. Though Intel and the others may do plenty of testing, what might work on a test bench might not work when combined dynamically with other things in ways that only happen on an end-user system. Note the number of video game bugs fixed in each driver release.
However complex you think OpenGL is, multiply that by 100 or more and you may be getting into the ballpark.

Photoshop CS5.1 crashes at loading graphic on OS X 10.7 Lion
Hi all:
I've been using Adobe products for over a decade and have never seen an issue like this. It just won't load. I've uninstalled, used the clean tool & reinstalled - rebooting prior to each step - and I can't get photoshop to load past the 'loading brushes...' message in the opening loading graphic. Prior to the issue I was playing with extendscript and loading them into PS, but I've since deleted all scripts and, as mentioned, wiped the entire suite.
Following is my crash report. I appreciate any help and/or helpful comments.

Thanks for your reply. When I uninstalled the suite I ensured that preferences were also ticked for removal.
So no luck there I'm afraid. -
Problems with the graphic card and adobe photoshop cs5
hello,
i installed adobe photoshop cs5 for my sisters computer:
specifications:
Prozessor: AMD Phenom™ II X6 1090T Six-Core Prozessor(3,2GHz, 9MB Cache)
Festplatte: 2x 1 TB SATA II
Arbeitsspeicher: 8 GB DDR3
Grafikkarten: VGA PCI-Express ATI Radeon™ HD5870 1GB GDDR5 (2x DVI, HDMI, DisplayPort) x 2 (2 von der sorte)
Sound: 7.1 support
Netzwerk: Gbit LAN
Software: Windows® 7 Home Premium,
Schnittstellen/Anschlüsse: Gehäuse-Front: Mic., Audio, 2xUSB 2.0, Front MCR, 1x Firewire, 1x eSATA Gehäuse-Rückseite: 8x USB 2.0, 2x USB3.0, 2x
Firewire, 2x eSATA, 2x DVI, 1x HDMI, 1x Gbit LAN, 2x SPDIF, 6x Audio
Besonderheiten: 80 Watt Netzteil
as you can see, absolute new hardware...
now photoshop tells her that her graphic card wouldnt fit the requirements, and allways switches to "software-sides" rendering.
this can't be true, this mashine is running hardchore grafic apps, and has the newest ATI Raedon Gra-Card (2 of them) which even now has a native support for open GL.
the computer has all latest drivers (no newer versions available)
so what to do?
i can't even tell photoshop manually in the settings to enable open GL...
i defenitally reached the end of my knowledge here.. i tried everything, also changing (as suggested by photoshop) the open GL settings of the graphic card card. no changes ...
need help with this one..
thank you already for your time and hopefully help

When clicking "Edit Copy with Lightoomroom Adjustments" from Lightroom, I get an error in Lightroom 3 complaining that the Camera Raw plug-in is not up to date; full message below.
"This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 6.1 for full compatibility.
Camera Raw version 4.6 is the latest version available for Photoshop CS3. If raw file support for your camera was introduced after Camera Raw 4.6, the Photoshop integration features in Lightroom require Photoshop CS4 and the latest Camera Raw version 5 plug-in.
The version of Camera Raw plug-in currently installed is 0.0."
After I click "Open Anyways", Photoshop CS5 is initiated but it seems to have lost context of why it is opened and asks me what file I want to open (i.e. the Open As dialog).
"Edit Copy" and "Edit Original" from Lightroom 3 works as expected and opens images fine in Photoshop, CS5 however.
My installation is on Windows 7. I currently also have Lightroom 1.4 and Photoshop CS3 installed. Everything worked fine with the old configuration. I also tried the same workflow in Lightroom 1.4 again just now, which is now linked to CS5 instead of CS3. The "Edit Copy with Lightroom Adjustments" also work just fine.
Things that I have tried but do not worked:
I did an Update via the Help -> Update menu, and also manually downloaded the Camera Raw 6.1 plug-in.
Blew away the Photoshop preferences file
Made sure that Lightroom 3 points to Photoshop for editor
I'm thinking that I'll try uninstall CS3 next. Anyone else encountered this issue?[CS5.1 (12.1) ACR 6.5RC / LR 3.5RC; MacbookPro 4gb Leopard 10.5.8 ] As a Lightroom instructor, up until now this has been a vexxing problem to explain to my students. Even if ACR in Photoshop is up to date (I just downloaded 6.5RC and installed the PS Plugin), I still get the error when attempting to edit from Lightroom 3.5RC. I deleted the PS prefs file to no avail. I was not willing to re-install Photoshop as a solution (per some blog's suggestion), although that might be the ultimate answer. But what an ordeal if so!
For a solution, I went back to a resolution I devised when I had a CS3 compatibility problem with LR3. I went into the Preferences of Lightroom and manually chose the Photoshop app as the "custom" image editor. I went back to edit the file in PS from Lightroom and the ACR error disappeared. Try it. Yes, this means you need to use the Custom editor as your image editor, but it seems to have resolved the issue. -
Repeated error from Intel integrated Graphics card in my brand-new B320
Hi
I am getting repeated errors from the Intel Integrated Graphics card (on the Intel i3 chip as I understand it) in my brand-new B320.
I checked via a tool from Intel that my drivers were up-to-date (version 15.22.1.2361).
I checked via Device Manager Update Drivers that my driver was up-to-date.
I attempted to uninstall and re-install my driver BUT the uninstall reverted me to a VGA Adapter (so my screen was then running in a low res 800x600 mode!) and I could not even then see the Intel Integrated Graphics card in Device Manager to be able to re-install the driver against (even if I ran scan for new hardware): I had to restore to a System Restore Point - so the problem has of course come back.
I have even had one error where the screen then went completely blank and nothing would bring it back: I had to power off the PC (Ouch!)
PLEASE advise how I rectify this incredibly frustrating problem step-by-step.hey johnestlea,
i was going through the download list of the B320 here : http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/us/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_list.aspx?CategoryID=156819
And could not find any driver with the version 15.22.1.2361 for the Intel Integrated Graphic Card. Where did you get that version ?

Photoshop CS5 Qualified Graphic Cards
Updating computers to Windows 7 64bit with a new graphics card and need to know Adobe's recommended graphic cards for Photoshop CS5. Is there any information regarding this. They have them listed for Photoshop CS4. I would like to be like a good carpenter and measure twice and only cut once.
Thanks.function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}

I'm runing WIndows 7- 64 bit and have an ATI 4850 graphics card with CS5 trial and latest updates to both ATI driver and CS5. CS5 still says there is a GPU problem and when I look in "preferences/Performance", there is NO video card detected. Every time I re-enable the GPU, CS5 turns it back off. Anybody have any hints? The ATI 4000 series is a supported GPU.
The 32 bit Catalyst 10.7 drivers do that to me too at the moment (I have an ATI Radeon HD 4670 card) - OpenGL cannot be enabled in Photoshop 32 bit (it reports the somewhat bogus error message "No GPU Options Available in Photoshop Standard"). Photoshop 64 bit loves the 64 bit drivers from the very same set, though.
Clearly the ATI developers have something wrong in the latest 32 bit drivers.
This has been a problem since 10.5 and I have reported the problem to ATI. I suggest you do so as well. Perhaps if enough people complain they'll start testing their new driver releases with Photoshop CS5, which I don't think they're doing now.
For what it's worth, I am discovering quirks in the OpenGL implementations of the various drivers from the various video card makers myself as I do my own OpenGL software development. The realm of OpenGL and graphics drivers is highly complex, evolving rapidly, and more oriented to gamers than serious users with, e.g., Photoshop.
If you're interested, I posted some info in this thread about how to override Photoshop's default startup OpenGL checking, which can allow you for test purposes to enable Photoshop's OpenGL features despite whatever's failing:

Maybe someone will try the exe file installation and report back -
I followed the manual installation instructions and for now everything works fine.
Message was editedHi mate
First of all thanks a lot
Ive got a U400 and I have installed a Intel graphic card driver from the Intel page too.
I didnt execute the exe file but I updated my driver in device manager.
This worked fine.
Also I read here in the forum that drivers from external pages can be used only at the own risk because such drivers are not tested and not certified by Toshiba
However, my U400 run trouble free till now.
