Intel Mac plug-ins?

Anybody know of a resource list or web page for Intel compatible plug-ins? I've looked on the KVRAudio page, but there doesn't seem to be any indication as to which plug-ins are Intel compatible and those that aren't. Maybe I'm not looking hard enough....? I am especially interested in a nice dubby delay similar to a Lee Perry or Sly & Robbie feel....
I was disappointed to find out that the King Dubby delay plug-in isn't Intel compatible....had I known that, I wouldn't have tried to install it for an hour!

  • Code Sign Mac Plug-Ins?

    Hi Folks,
Does anyone have any information or experience about whether or not a developer should code sign the Mac plug-ins he/she creates? Will an unsigned plug-in cause any issues with Mountain Lion's Gatekeeper settings when a user installs it?
I've not had time to install and test the Mountain Lion beta (which I will eventually do when I get some time), so I'm not sure if signing makes any difference. I'm thinking it's not necessary to code sign plug-ins since earlier versions of ID are not signed, but I'm not sure what the consequeces of not code signing might be.
I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.8 with Xcode 3.2.6 installed, and I used the "codesign" command-line tool against an Adobe created plug-in in ID CS6. I get "code or signature modified" returned. Which means, I think, that the plug-in was code signed, but somehow got modifed since the signing. Running against the ID CS3 app, it tells me that it's not signed (which makes sense, since it came out before Leopard).
    Here's what I did:
    codesign -dvvv "/Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Plug-Ins/Layout/Alignment Panel.InDesignPlugin"
    and got this result:
/Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Plug-Ins/Layout/Alignment Panel.InDesignPlugin: code or signature modified
Any opinions, comments, suggestions, etc. are welcome
    Thanks!

  • Intel/PowerPC plug-ins

    Howdy.
I have upgraded to an iMac Core 2 Duo, it's faboolus. Only problem - will my Waves 'purchased' plug-ins work on the new Intel machine, as opposed to my now old iBook?
    I'm frightened to install them.
    I welcome any response/ideas.
    Mucho Appreciation.
    Brad.

When I moved from a PPC Mac to a MacBook Pro, none of my older PPC version plugins worked. I had to upgrade them all. I don't have Waves, but I'm betting you'll need to upgrade. Some companies are offering free upgrades, so check it out.

  • PSE8 and third party plug-ins

I have just had to get a new compu8ter, iMac running 10.6.2.  I also upgraded to PSE 8.  I tried to move my old plugins to PSE 8 and now get messages that they cannot load.  I particularly want to use NoiseWare and Focal Blade.
Can anyone help with this please?

Unfortunately, PSE 8 will not run in rosetta, so it can only use intel-native plug-ins. Any older plug-ins that were written for the PPC architecture won't work, so I'd hang on to PSE 6 if you have that, for running those. Otherwise, check with the developers to see if there are newer versions available that are written for intel (usually not, alas).

  • TUTORIAL: How to make PPC Plug-Ins work on Intel Macs!

Hi guys, I wanted to share this brillant method with you all, collect ideas and create a list of Plug-Ins, you have succeeded to make work (I guess nearly all PPc Plugs will work this way but lets better stick to facts). Maybe there is a way to work with more than 1 Plug - Feel free to report and contribute! Kudos goes to a dear friend of mine... Let' share some power...
"I noticed some people complaining about not being able to use Trilogy and Atmosphere on Intel Macs. There's a tricky way to do it that takes about ten minutes to set up the first time and after that is easy. It probably works for other PPC-only instruments as well.
Here's the outline: OSX for Intel contains a layer called Rosetta, which runs PPC software that hasn't been updated. (You might run Microsoft Word via Rosetta and not even know it.) In general, Rosetta is no good for audio software: you can't use it for a sequencer or a recording application. But it's good enough for a lightweight plugin host like Rax, which does nothing but serve as a host for Atmosphere. So you can load Atmosphere into Rax via Rosetta, then run it alongside a UB sequencer like Live or Logic.
The only tricky part is connecting the two together. You need to get MIDI out of your sequencer and into Rax, and you need to get audio out of Rax and back into the sequencer. The MIDI can go via an internal IAC bus. The audio can go via the handy freeware audio-routing utility Soundflower.
    Here's how to set up:
-- download Rax version 1.2.3. (Version 2 and up won't work.) You can find it at http://macmusic.org/software/view.php?id=395 . Use the serial in SerialBox to install.
-- download and install Soundflower from http://www.cycling74.com/downloads/soundflower
-- in Audio MIDI Setup, create a new IAC bus. Instructions on how to do this are at http://www.spectrasonics.net/news/Creating-an-IAC-Bus.html . Name it Rhino. (You can name it whatever you want, but in these instructions I'm going to call it Rhino.)
    Now you're ready to go.
-- Open your sequencer and create a MIDI track and an audio track. Set the MIDI track's output to Rhino. Set the audio track's input to Soundflower 2ch.
-- Open Rax and load Atmosphere. In the Preferences, go to the Audio tab and set Audio Device to Soundflower 2ch. Now go to the MIDI tab and, under MIDI Inputs, make sure Rhino is the only thing checked.
You should now be able to send MIDI from your sequencer to Atmosphere, and then hear the audio through the sequencer. One last stage is to sync Atmosphere to your sequencer's MIDI clock, so that tempo-synched effects will work properly.
-- Still in Rax Preferences, on the MIDI tab, set the MIDI Clock dropdown menu to Rhino. Close the Preferences window. At the top of the main Rax window, make sure the Ext. Sync box is checked. The Tempo window should say 0, which means Rax is following the sequencer's master tempo.
And you're done. Save the Rax document and you can open Atmosphere with a single click. Trilogy works the exact same way, obviously.
If you want to use multiple instruments from Rax, you'll need to use SoundFlower 16ch and send MIDI on a different MIDI channel for each instrument (using the same IAC bus).
Anyone who's tried this, please post your results in this thread. Especially, try out other PPC instruments, and try using multiple instruments at the same time, and let us know how it works for you."
Maybe one of the Admins wants to sticky this
    With my very best,
    Vic.

There's another shortcut I've used successfully in order to access 'old' PlugIns on an Intel MBP :
Just use Logic 6 - and take full advantage o' that ole rotatin' rosetta
Meaning : Other than with native Logic versions 7 and 8, Logic 6 has to be fully emulated by the rosetta engine, and if your intel mac is fast enough, it does so very well - thus including all PPC PlugIns you still may have installed. Also works fine for PlugIns that were converted via FXpansion's VST-AU manager.

  • Will Apple one day support AE plug ins on Intel Macs?

    Hi,
I was interested in upgrading my G5 to the new Mac Pro until I discovered from Apple's release notes that Apple had dropped support for the After Effects plug ins in FCP 5.1 for Intel!
I need my plug ins, so I'll stay on PPC for a while it seems. Has Apple stated anywhere that this is the way things will be FOR ALL future Intel versions, or is this just a temporary situation?
    Thanks!

    Sry, just found my answer:
"Adobe has not yet announced plans for a Universal Binary version of the After Effects plug-in API."

  • IMovie plug ins not compatible with Intel Macs

I need a page turn transition for an iMovie 6 project I'm working on. I downloaded one from cfx, but apparently a lot of the plug ins are not compatible with Intel Macs. Anyone out there have any suggestions?

Any GeeThree plug-in that uses flash will no longer work, which include all the WildFX plug-ins. Apple did away with flash support in Quicktime 7.3.1 or newer! Now iMovie is basically unusable without the very cool & professional GeeThree plug-ins. If Apple keeps this up iMovie will probably go the way of the dinosaur. I've talked to Apple about this and they responded "why don't you buy Finalcut Pro". It's what Apple does best, Farm the base.....

  • Would my plug-ins work in Logic 7.2 and intel mac?

This may be a dumb question but would my plug-ins that work in Logic 7.1 on my Powerbook work in Logic 7.2 on an intel mac?

The statement I made is not a "blanket" one, if one is looking at the big picture.
I understand why you would consider that a blanket statement, since you are narrowly looking only at one angle.
The user did not state that this is the only reason he is getting a computer, and he did not specify that he is using the computer ONLY for Logic, and therefore, it is wise to consider all options.
In what way was my comment narrow?
Everyone's situation is different depending on what software, plugins and peripherals are used. Making a recommendation based on months makes no sense since someone's software may be ready much sooner than that, or may be available even later.
The decision to upgrade should be based on whether the things you need to run are ready or not. Doing it this way considers all options, picking a number of months out of a hat is narrowly looking at one angle.

  • 3rd party plug-ins on intel macs ?

    hello
just got my macbook and was keen to use all my plug-ins that work on my g5 into the new macbook and use in logic.
none of them work, is this going to be the way for all plug-ins untill they do intel versions. or is there another way to get them working?

    Great point SvK!
Logic plugins are worth the price of admission alone.I've bought the best of the best plugs and hardware synths. It seems that the ES2 has become my "go to" instrument.Sculpture,great.Ultrabeat,great.Exs24, great.Sound Designer, great.

  • Again about mac intel and au plug ins (sorry, newbie)

    Hi everybody, here's the question:
    - 'got 4 steinberg plug ins, not universal binary BUT PERFECTLY WORKING with rosetta (vst versions) in Cubase SX3 (also non universal, also working quite slowly but working).
Why logic refuse to recognize and run the same plug ins in AU version?
    Thanks!
    Paolo

Because native applications require the plug-ins to be running on the same platform that the app is running as the plug-in become a part of the apps instance while the app is running. Because you're running Cubase in Rosetta, you are already in emulation mode, thus seeing the plug-ins.

  • Migrating PS CS3 to Intel with OS 10.5.6 Plug-ins Not Available

After migrating CS3 to MacBook Pro, 10.5.6, a list of unavailable plug-ins comes up. All except two were PS plug-ins, NOT aftermarket. Sure enough, they don't show up in the filters menu. I don't know where else they are missing. (migrated from Powerbook 10.4.11)
    What is to be done?
    CS3, OS 10.5.6/ MB Pro 2GB ram, 2.4 Ghz

Migrating is never a great idea, but migrating an application originally installed under Tiger on a PowerPC machine to a Mac-Intel box running Leopard goes beyond being a monumentally bad, horrendous idea. It's sheer lunacy!
You need to wipe out that drive, or at least use the Adobe Uninstaller (installed by CS3 in Applications/Utilities/Adobe/ on your old machine), look for, download and run the CS3Clean script, and then install the application from the original media.
Also, realize that any plug-ins that were not written in Universal Binary will NOT run under CS3 on the Mac-Intel machine,
unless you run CS3 under Rosetta software emulation with a corresponding
    massive performance hit.
    Never, ever try
    "migrating" again. :(

  • Current state of photoshop plug-ins for Intel?

The good news (I guess) is that CS3 is now Universal. A reason to send a large chunk of money to Adobe.
Bad news seems to be that every plug-in I've looked at so far is not available for Intel OS-X. (Admittedly I've only looked at a few like FocusMagic and FocusFixer -- but I'm detecting a theme.)
What are Intel Mac users doing for PhotoshopCS3-compatible plug-ins?

If you go to the following site you will get much of the information you need as well as some useful tools. Some of the downloads will also come will a plain text document with instructions on how to install plug-ins.

  • For some reason, the Flash Player on my MAC Pro stopped working, I've checked the install on my Adobe Flash Player and the are current, but the plug-ins don't seem to be working.  Can anyone help me get it working?

For some reason, the Flash Player on my MAC Pro stopped working, I've checked the install on my Adobe Flash Player and the are current, but the plug-ins don't seem to be working.  Can anyone help me get it working?

It happened w/ my MacPro 2.66 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon about 5 months ago; tried everything I could think of including multiple downloads of Flash, and hadn't seen any solutions here.  Adobe insisted many times that I download & update, but the newest vers. wouldn't work on the computer.
On checking Adobe/Flash was reading the computer as being an earlier model. So the new version of Flash wouldn't work w/ it.  Snow Leopard 10.6.8 was being read correctly but not the computer model (can't remember what MP model  it was reading).
Nothing worked. So -- a very old PC trick: If nothing else works get the hammer out and bludgeon it-- might work. So I reset everything by putting the Snow Leopard  install disk in, held down 'C' on restart and let it run.
Didn't take anything off the HDD first, just ran the install disk over everything.
The experts on the forums are probably cringing right now & I'd like very much for them to jump in. Love to know how my computer model was being mis-read. All I can say is, for the brave and desparate, it worked for me. Something to keep in mind.
It helped that I had a new computer on order & have 2 backups, one being mandatory. Might work only the one time but worth a check.
Good luck on working this one out.

  • 10.4, How to stop plug-ins update reminder, Windows fix does not work on Mac.

Need to get rid of bar across top saying plug-ins are not up-to-date. The "fix" posted for Windows does not work on my Mac. When I try for updates, none seem to install. How do I really find out if the ones I have are the latest available for my system? Everything seems to work OK as is. Could it be that my Mac is PPC and that there are plug-in updates that would work in 10.4 on Intel but not on PPC, and that FireFox cannot differentiate?
