Intel Management and Security Status Icon started appearing 3 days ago

We didn't install anything new, and this "Intel Management and Security" icon (which you can't close) started appearing in the start menu on the bottom of the screen. What made this start appearing, and how can we get rid of it?

Intel Management and Security Software -- How to remove completely?

I recently rebuilt my x201 Laptop, installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and ran the Lenovo automatic update tool. I now have something called Intel Management and Security software which I neither want nor need.
I do not understand why it was installed as the Laptop does not have a G3 Broadband card and the Intel software appears to be dependent on it for most of is functionality. The Lenovo automatic update tool should have been smart enough to realize that the Intel software was worthless on a machine without a G3 Broadband card and not have installed it.
How do I unistall it and make sure that Lenovo's automatic update does not reinstall it?

Do you mean Intel AMT? i frequently have that popping out too. Not sure if you can permantly prevent it from showing up, but the bios has an option that disables this functionality. It doesn't matter if you have mobile broadband or not, it is just a hardware for coporate IT administrators to easily handle the thousand of company laptops around the world.

I have been using Safari for years and have always kept it on "private." Starting two days ago, I suddenly found myself unable to log onto my blog and many other sites that I normally log onto when private is set. Why?

I don't like Firefox nearly as much as I like Safari. What is happening? How do I fix the problem?

Might be a corrupted database ...
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Quit and relaunch Safari to test.

Back up all data. Rebuild the mailbox.

Video and status icons not appearing

I'm trying to set up a chat between my sister in Canada and my parents in the Uk. My sister's using a macbookpro with OSX0.4.1 and ichat 3.18 and my parents are using an imac running 10.3.9 and ichat 2.1
We got into a video chat with my parents the other day, but today although all is good here, my parents can only see themselves in the video - they fill the screen. I don't know how to get them so they see themselves in the smaller preview, and us in the large preview. Also, they don't see the status icons, nor any of the green camera icons next to my name or my sister's name in the buddy list (and apparanty never have). They've tried quitting ichat, unplugging and replugging in the external isight, and rebooting with no difference.
Can anyone help?

iChat sometimes does this.
The easiest fix is to reconnect.
Or restart iChat.
Now in addition they should really check some other places.
With iChat open go to the Video menu.
This should have the Camera Enabled item ticked.
In the View menu they should make it Show Video and Show Audio Status.
This will produce the Green icons in their Buddy list if they are not already there.
There are in fact loads of ways to start a Video chat
1) Clicking on the Green icon for that Buddy.
2) Clicking once on the Buddy and then icons at the bottom of the Buddy list
3) From the Buddies Menu
4) Right Clicking /Control Clicking a Buddy and then from the Contextual menu
I can understand that they may have the green icons but not use them.
If the above does not work they should try Repairing Permissions
As they are in iChat 2 and Panther then they may need to Run the Cron Scripts.
See this FAQ for both the previous.
For the second bit they will need MacJanitor (Simplest and cheapest and only does the Cron script)
Download and install
Click the Padlock and type in Admin password
Run the Scripts one at a time or all All Tasks

Intel Management Engine Interface Status Device Power Failure

Dear community, Recently I noticed that my Intel Management Engine Interface is not working and show the STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE error. My computer is a Lenovo Yoga 2 prowith Windows 8.1 latest Windows update and fresh installMy BIOS has laster firmware 76CN43WWI've installed the laster Intel MEI driver 9.5.15.1730 and the latest Intel chipset driver 10.0.27 Please someone help me to find a solution. I have an iPad mini retior new messagna. How do I stop iCloud from asking ID every time I press icons to write new message/reply. This only started 3 days ago and is really annoying. I have tried most things apart from reset.

For what it's worth, you posted this in 2011, and here in 2014 I am still having this same issue. Over the last two days, I have had to unlock my apple account 8 times. I didn't get any new devices. I haven't initiated a password reset. I didn't forget my password. I set up two factor authentication and have been able to do the unlocking with the key and using a code sent to one of my devices.
That all works.
It's this having to unlock my account every time I go to use any of my devices. And I have many: iMac, iPad, iPad2, iPad mini, iPhone 5s, iPod touch (daughter), and my old iPhone 4 being used as an ipod touch now. They are all synced, and all was working just fine.
I have initiated an incident with Apple (again) but I know they are just going to suggest I change my Apple ID. It's a simple one, and one that I am sure others think is theirs. I don't want to change it. I shouldn't have to. Apple should be able to tell me who is trying to use it, or at least from where.

Session in status active started two hours ago is not in v$session_longops

I have a session with status active. This session starts two hours ago.
but if I query the v$session_longops to see how long I have to wait for that session I don't see it.
And if I execute:
execute dbms_system.SET_SQL_TRACE_IN_SESSION(429,15706,true);
to trace the session
oracle doesn't generate the trace file.
Does someone know why?

But since the OP stated the status = ACTIVE then there should be an active query. This is where the full Oracle version is important. Depending on the version if the active code is pl/sql then the pl/sql will not show when you check the v$session.sql_address and there have been issues with v$session_longops also.
But just because a session has been connected for hours does not mean the SQL it is currently executing has been running for more than seconds. If the process includes commits then it may be nothing more than a long series of very short transactions and hence not long operations.
Also the following two conditions must be true >>
Set the TIMED_STATISTICS or SQL_TRACE parameter to true
Gather statistics for your objects with the ANALYZE statement or the DBMS_STATS package << Oracle 9.2 Reference on v$session_longops

Firefox is blocking access to my Picassa albums and I can't post new pictures to it. It just started two days ago. I looked at the opitions and my picassa site is listed as ALLOW but it doesn't work. Can someone tell me a solution? Thanks.

I use Firefox to load pictures into my Picassa Albums. Two days ago when I tried to make a new album, Firefox repeatedly block Picassa. I checked in the Options box and my Picassa site was listed to ALLOW but it will not allow. How do I fix this problem so I can use Picassa?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
"Clear the Cache":
*Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

Printing problem in 2 programs started 2 days ago, only firefox ,works fine with Internet Explorer?

Banking web site has a "Print - Friendly View", text on the upper right side of the page which prints out the account information in a different format if you click on the text. All other print functions work ok. The problem is not their when using Internet Explorer. The other program is at Aflacs Web site, and the problem is very similar. When I click on the text that says "Print copy of Invoice" nothing happens, just like the bank text. They both work perfect with Internet Explorer. The problem started about 2 days ago. When it works right, a window will open up and show you what it is going to print and you click on the "print" text, and it prints. Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

I wish to get AppleCare Protection Plan and my Warranty expired a few days ago.

I got my iPod touch on 12th november 2011 as a prize in a Quiz Competetion. A few days ago I called apple customer support and they say my warranty is expired... According to them, the warranty started in February 2011 and has expired. I wish to get AppleCare Protection Plan and a customer support executive told me over the phone that I would get it but I got no follow up call. My Apple Support /case number is 292089289
I have got a dead pixel on my iPod and I wish to get it replaced. I hope something can be done.

Check your warranty here: https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do . If it truly as expired, there is nothing you can do ablut it. You ca no longer extend the warranty. Otherwise people would wait to see if their iPod needed service beforing buying the coverage.

you list bits you have tried but don't say if you have tried a new lead?
i'm not being tricky, as an electronics engineer of some 40+ years who repairs consuls, iPhones, iPads etc. i have some experience of what gets overlooked. Some of the cheap after market leads aren't the best quality,and some darn right lethal, likely to catch fire while your asleep. you might have bought of them.
i find it tends only genuine Apple leads lock in, but there might be fakes of them to. either way worth a go. perhaps se if your family or mates have one.

Firefox 4 is not appearing in Task bar or some times it is Disappearing from task bar when i am minimising the window. so, i had to go to Task manager and find the icon.Its becoming big messy if tabs are not found , to switch programmes.

I am unwilling to attempt navigation away from these sites. The pop-ups that occur on the attempt to leave a site or to close the browser are exit traps offering incentive to stay.
Once upon a time, when the internet was less dangerous, I would be willing to close the exit pop-ups. Now, after twice being infected with malware trying to close the pop-ups, I now force close whichever browser I am using.
Recently, I clicked on the red X to close one pop-up, and it installed a trojan that I had to pay to be removed. When I clicked on 'Leave' in another exit pop, it didn't exit and it turned out I was giving permission to run a script file. Now that criminals have learned these exit pop-ups can be used to force a click action, the sites using them have become dangerous.
If I force the browser to close using Task manager, Please tell me how to stop FireFox from sending me directly back to the same site because it mistakenly believes it crashed when it did not. I forced it to close because I was on a site that had taken control of my browser and was not allowing me to leave the site.
No other browser sends me back to the potentially dangerous sites. I prefer Firefox, but the new version must have a setting that allows me to get safely away from a problem site?
