[Intel] Mixing different size and brands of memory. MSI 6507 Motherboard.

Hello,
Does anyone know if it is ok to mix, firstly different size ram and secondly - different brands. I am currently using a 1x PC2100 512mb stick and 1x PC2100 256mb stick (Different Brands) and have never had any problems. However I am looking to replace the 256 stick with either another 512 or 1g, when searching on the net most of the advice is not to mix brands and always use pairs rather than different size sticks?

Using matched pairs is still the best way to go with memory but that doesn't mean that having different brands won't work. It is a crap shoot when mixing different sticks of memory. Sometimes it works fine but most of the time it causes problems.

Maybe someone can help me on this Photoshop script. I am working on a psd file with few layers in Photoshop CS6. I would like to save it to the png format.
Below is my workflow.
1) Drag and drop 01.psd into Photoshop from A folder.
2) Save 01.psd to 01.png into the A folder with different sizes and suffixes as shown below:
    - name: 01-xhires.png, size: 180x180
    - name: 01-hires.png, size: 90x90
    - name: 01.png, size: 45x45
3) With png options: (I have no idea of some options below, but at least you know what I am lookng for. )
    - Compression: Smallest/Slow
    - Interlace: None
    - Transparency: True
    - Blur: 0:0
    - includeProfile = false
    - optimized = true
    - quality = 100
    - PNG8 = false
4) Use lower case extension.
5) Other options should be in default setting.
The script should be able to:
1) Overwrite the png files whenever the psd file has been updated and saved multiple times without prompting.
2) Save the png files into the same folder as the source file without creating any subfolder.
3) Not close the psd file, but still keeping it opens in the Photoshop without any changes.

Goto Russell Browns web site download the Image Processor Pro script install it and use it to do what you want. However the script will not overwrite files.   Overwriting file in an automated process is dangerous you could easily wipe out all you image if you make a mistake. If you want to replace files create the new files in a new temp location then when you see the files are what you want. Move(cut) the files to the location you want replacing any files with the same name.

If you want the script to overwrite the output files you need to edit the script and remove the code that generate new name when output files exists. You may also need to change some save options. I would think you would want the profile you convert the image into stored in the png file, Most of the otions you want can be set like same location no subfolders, 16bit not interlace etc.

I do not know how up to date this is, but there are menus listed in how the message displays when you compose and open an email. [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Font_settings_in_Thunderbird#Message_display] That may help you set the preferences.

Java options heap size and out of memory warnings

I have a 904 10g oc4j mid-tier build.
I have three applications deployed to the Home container.
Occassionally, one of the applications will get an error message stating java.lang outofmemory. The java Option was set to Xmx1024. I increased this to Xmx2048, but this had an adverse affect on the Home container and I couldn't get it running. Eventually I put the value for java option back to it's original value. The Home container started again.
Is there another way I can increase the amount of memory available to the container/applications without having the adverse effect described above?

how much is your available physical memory size ?
if you have more than 1 Gb, follow this :
try set jvm options :
-Xms1024m -Xmx1024m -XX:MaxPermSize=256m
try to increase MaxPermSize if error still occured.

Mixing RAM sizes and issues

I'm having an issue with my late 2012 iMac 27 inch. It came with 8GB stock RAM installed on the 1st and 3rd slots (lookin from bottom to top). The 2nd and 4th were empty. I bought a Crucial 16GB RAM (http://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC3-12800-204-Pin-Modules-CT2C8G3S160BM/dp/B008LTB JFW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1365482251&sr=8-1). I installed the new ones in 2nd and 4th slots. Much to my surprise, when I switched on the machine and checked "About my Mac", it only showed 16B 1600Mhz RAM instead of 24GB RAM and after a few seconds, the system hung. I restarted the machine and I heard several beep sounds and the system never turned on. I checked th slots and all were seated OK. On switching again, I heard the same beeps. I switched off the machine completely, waited for a few seconds and tried again and then all was normal. The system was showing 24GB RAM and I was able to use my system for couple of hours and all was OK.
I have couple of questions:
1. What's going on here?. Is it a bad RAM that I need to worry about?. I still have ample time to order a new set of RAM and return the ones I have now.
2. Why the system acted up and now it is OK even though I didn't change anything?
3. Is the seating correct?. What is the best order to get maximum performance?. I intend to remove a 4GB RAM and keep it at 20GB RAM. If that's the case, what should be the order of arrangement?
4. Is there any cause of concern that my system is acting up?. I'm well within my 14 day return period and I can go for a exchange if you guys feel that way.

Sounds like maybe the modules are not firmly seated in the slots.
Try re-seating them, only this time push real hard on each module with both thumbs to ensure that than are firmly seated in the slots.

Can I run 2 different size and ratio monitors from my mac mini

I have a samsung 50" TV currently hooked up to my mini via HDMI, I have another TV 32" which i'll plug in either via a splitter or more likely displayport to hdmi, but when I tested the 32" via HDMI there was no input signal.
I've checked and this can be fixed going in remotely and changing the ratio but surely this would affect both displays or can I change settings for each display output?
I do want a 3rd TV hooked up to, but how would I do this if that display is again different? - not bought this one yet

If these are all TVs then presumably they are all the same aspect ratio, namely 16:9 widescreen. You should be able to run both, or all three using a splitter, as long as the lowest common resolution is selected. It sounds like perhaps the 32" TV only supports 720p. But so should the other TVs. So as long as you set things to what is supported by the least of the TVs, they should all work.

Acrobat 8.0 Merging pdfs to one pdf, first pdf of different size

I have about 60 jpegs that I would like to convert to single pdf file.
When I try to make one pdf from these files, a binder is made without any errors but when I open this binder, the first pdf is of original size and all rest are of 25% size of the original. I tried converting each jpeg to pdf individually and then merging into one, results in same story.
Can anyone see whats going on here? I am using default settings at every point.

Are you sure it really is 25% of the original size? It's possible the image is of different sizes, and while in a binder, they will show them in relation to the other pages, not of their actual size.

Compressing Different Sizes/Formats into One

Hi everyone
I'm trying to make a video out of clips from three of four different sizes and two formats (.mov and .mp4) into one video.
The .mp4s are very small files, the .movs very large.
Any tips to making the end video - smooth. I'm getting break ups and green screen in a couple places.

Adding memory of different sizes

I have a Mac Pro 8 core running with two 1GB memory sticks. I'd like to add additional memory. I'm looking at adding 4x2GB memory sticks. Is there any reason why I couldn't install the 2GB sticks and leave the 1GB sticks in the system for a total of 10GB of RAM? Some systems perform better if all the memory is of the same size and I'm not sure if that holds true for Mac hardware. This is my first Mac and my first memory upgrade so I wanted to make sure before I purchased anything. Right now, all I'm using the system for is Final Cut Studio 2.

Yes, it should be possible. I think every MacBook Pro ever sold has some kind of port for an external monitor. You would have to nail down which kind of port your MBP has and where on your MBP it is located.
Can you find the little "getting started" pamphlet, manual, or PDF that came with it? It should name the connectors.
My guess? If the only ports you have besides USB and Ethernet are smaller than those, you could have a Mini DisplayPort.

Saving each image as different size - is it an option for you? I would save images with their name as: 20x30.png, 16x20.png etc etc.
Or explain whether you want these in a webpage in which case only one image is necessary and different sizes are displayed with good CSS code. this is question for Dreamweaver forum if this is what you want.
