Intel Pentium D 9xx series Compatibility with MSI 955x?

Hi All,
I just wanted to get some feedback from others who may be running an Intel Pentium D 9xx series processor on a MSI 955x board.  What processor are you running and have you had any compatiblity problems, strange quirks, etc?
I found this link as well but wanted to get some real world opinions!

Thanks!!

They are compatible and won't have any issues.

  • Pentium D 945 Processor compatibility with MB 955X Platinum MS-7158

    Hi everybody.
I’ve bought a new processor (Pentium D 945 3.4 GHz) to my MS-7158 955X Platinum. But I’m not sure about use it in my board. I’ve checked on the global MSI site: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodcpusupport&prod_no=188&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=  but they only say’s “under testing”.
Can anyone help me If can I use this without problems, what would be happen If I install this processor? Any possible damage will occur?
    Thanks a lot!...

    probably will work.

  • Compatibility with MSI motherboards

    Hello
I want to know if any one of you have known compatible issues with the Graphics cards like XFX, eVGA, PNY, BGF, Zotac, Sparkle, Galaxy...(all non msi models).
Sometimes the cards may get heat or go crazy.
    Any known incompatibility issues?
    BTW I have a P35 Neo Motherboard.

On my P35 Neo I have at one time or another used: PNY 9600GT, EVGA 9600GT, MSI  1950 Pro, MSI N250GTS 2D1G and now MSI N260 2D896 OCSP, no MB compatible problem with any of them. There were some Saphire ATI cards being a problem but I believe that was a particular run of cards and not a brand specific issue.
I've become quite fond of MSI products because since I started using them I've had no problems with their hardware.

  • Very low 3DMarks03 benchmark with MSI Ti4200TD 4x GPU

Very low 3DMarks03 benchmark with MSI Ti4200TD 4x GPU
I have download the lastest demo version of 3DMarks03 from futuremark.com and have downloaded the latest DirectX 9.0 from Microsoft.
After downloading both applications, I have update my DirectX 9.0 first before installin 3DMarks03 in my com.
After all installation is done, I have test the Benchmark for my AGP card which is MSI's Ti-4200TD 4x 128MB and the results was worse than expectations.
The first test was ok and I managed to hit rather high points of nearly 200fps for it, but the problems starts at the second test onwards... I managed to only hit at the highest point of 15fps only!!! Therefore at the end of the Test I only managed to score 1018points... ;(   and my screen starts to flicker on occasions... but I have switched to 75Hz for my refresh rate... :O
And the very funny thing is that I have no problems driving games like Unreal Tournament 2003...  ?(
My first query here is whether there's anything to do with DirectX 9.0(I have de-activate and re-activate directdraw after each restart) or is it because that I did not reinstall the Card driver as in Settings> Advanced Options> DirectX version still shows DirectX 8.1 or better... By the way, the driver was the latest version which I've download from MSI website and I have switch of SBA already...
My next query is whether because 3DMarks03 or DirectX 9.0 is not yet digitally signed as DxDiag has prompt me to get my drivers signed or DirectX 9.0 and 3Dmarks03 are not updated yet to run on nVidia based cards as I know that all Radeon 9500Pro/9700 series comes with direct 9.0 drivers and not for nVidia cards?
Hope someone could assist me... Thanks!!!

I've load and install all my motherboard drivers, SIS AGP driver ver 1.4 since my last format and before the installation of DirectX 9.0 and 3DMarks03...

  • Will intel core i7-4790 be compatable replacemetn for intel dual core pentium g620

I have a Lenovo Idea Center K330B with an Intel pentium dual core g620 2.6GHz LGA1155 processor.  I want to replace it with an Intel core i7-4790K 4.0 GHz LGA1155 processor.  Is the i7 processor compatable with my system?  In other words, will I be able to do this?  I would apprecitate it if I could get some helpful information on this.  A yes or no will do, but I'm hoping for more of an explanation than that.  Thank you for any help you can give me with this.
    TonyB

i would say no if there has not been a bios update in a while with a list of currently supported cpus i would only upgrade to ones that came out with the system, so if the fastest k330b was with an i5 760 then thats it
also the mobo you have is 1155 and that cpu is a 1150
if you do get another cpu you might need to reformat and install windows as sometime it does not go well

  • WHATS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN..INTEL CELERON..INTEL PENTIUM..INTEL CORE i3..AMD A6 SERIES...THANKS

WHAT WOULD BE THE BEST LAPTOP BETWEEN THESE 4: 1.ASUS 11.6" TOUCH SCRN INTEL CELERON 4GB MEM 500GB HARD DR 2.TOSHIBA SATELL 15.6" TOUCH SCRN INTEL PENTIUM 4GB MEM 750GB HARD DR 3.TOSHIBA SATELL 15.6" INTEL CORE i3 6GB MEM 750GB HARD DR 4.TOSHIBA SATELL 15.6" AMD A6 SERIES 4GB MEM 750GB HARD DR

I would probably go with the A6 over all the other ones purely because of AMD. Even the slower AMD processors have always struck me as performance friendly compared to the Intel family. True, the more you pay for an intel processor the better but we are talking about very low tier processors in the first place.
Just to give you a "ranking" example though and keep in mind these may be desktop/laptop processors I am listing.
The BEST pentium processor I know of is only ranked 448 out of 2,000 processors, most of them being in the lower sector.
The BEST celeron processor I know of is only ranked 544 out of 2,000 processors, most of them as well being in the lower sector
The BEST I3 I know of is ranked 240, the worst being ranked 1,223 so this would be an optional one for you.
The BEST A6 is ranked 524, worst being ranked 1,127. So as you can sell all of them are i3 level or better ( benchmark wise )
If you can give us exact processor models I will be glad to give you their official current standing.

  • Intel Pentium D 925+ on MSI 975X Platinum v1, won't install Vista

I have this 2 components - Intel Pentium D 925+ on MSI 975X Platinum v1 - and a licenced Vista Ultimate won't install with them. I had first an Intel Pentium 4 640 and worked great. Than I've changed the CPU to Intel Pentium D 925+. When I first boot in Vista it hanged the system during the green bar sliding. Changed to XP, worked just fine. Tried again to install Vista, after booting from DVD and loading the files needed, the green bar goes again and after 2-3 passes it hanged again. I found that there is the latest bios available 1.4 and made an bios update... Then I retried to install vista.. It worked just fine... Decompressed the files, copied them onto hard drive, and after the first restart , when the screen appears again on installing and says "Completeing installation ..." it hangs again.   I just can't pass this phase no matter what I do and tried to install about... 30 times, every install being a clean install, formatting the hard drive. Every single time it hangs just there. Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

I've found the problem if anyone is interesting in knowing it and if maybe someone is having the same problem as me.... just disable EIST (Enhanced Intel SpeedStep Technology) from bios and it will work smooth. Oh   PS, and if Vista isn't ment for public use then why was it released by Microsoft in so many versions even a home version? Do you even know what you're saying with that affirmation? Or you're just a end user that is just too lasy to try understanding Vista or even learning where these operating systems are going to? Saying that if it works just fine on XP why should I install Vista...???????

  • Is it possible to set up a HP Scanjet 8200 series (8290 with ADF) Intel Mac

Is it possible to set up a HP Scanjet 8200 series (8290 with automatic document feeder) on the new Intel based Mac Pro desktop computer (nehalem 2.93 dual processors, 8 core)? Can anyone please steer me in the right direction -- I tried one of the drivers from the HP website and the install reflected that it does not work on intel based computers. Does OS X Leopard come with some type of utility to help me set up the scanner (I don't see where to set it up)? Thanks.

  • I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lighroom 5 if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?

I want to upgrade to Lightroom 5, but I'm concerned about compatibility with my 2008 intel Core 2 Duo iMac with only 4G of Ram.  Will I be able to run Lightroom 5 okay if I upgrade from Snow Leopard to Lion?  What will happen to the applications that aren't 64-bit compatible?  Also the Eye-one Display 2 colorimeter to calibrate the monitor will not run on Lion, so that will be an expensive upgrade to an i1DisplayPro. Is the upgrade important enough to offset the expense?  I have an Epson R2000 printer.  Will there be problems with the drivers if I upgrade to Lion?  It would be great to hear from other mac users who are also photographers and who print their own photos.

Before upgrading to Lion be sure to read this link:
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6271
    Adobe lists these requirements:
    http://www.adobe.com/products/photoshop-lightroom/tech-specs.html
Looking at http://www.everymac.com/ even the earliest 2008 iMac was fully 64 bit, even though Boot Camp doesn't support 64 bit Windows on that machine.

  • Is MAC Pro (late 2013) compatible with Intel E5 or E7 Series 10 core CPU

Is MAC Pro (late 2013) compatible with Intel E5 or E7 series 10 core CPU?

    http://macperformanceguide.com/MacPro2013-CPU-upgrade.html
Someone did some testing and these Xeon processors scale differently, turbo-boost means it can put a core to sleep when it isn't needed and give more to the cores that are.
But, the number of apps that do use more than 8-core are in short supply.
Then there is the contention between cooling and whether the cpu or the twin GPUs get preference, OS X won't allow both to ask for full 100%.
We assume you know all there is about cpu scaling and usage and just need to see which ones are on Intel's list that are pin compatible and have the right thermal requirements and such.
Fall is always IDF and v3 of the E5

    yes
However, if your Mac has only Firewire 800 ports, you need an adapter such as one of the following to connect your FW400 external iSight:
    • This Firewire 400-800 cable can work:  http://store.apple.com/us/product/H7041ZM/A (I use this one.)
    • Some report that this low-priced alternative cable works:
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812189097
    • To use your iSight's FW400 6pin-6pin cable, you can use a 6pin-9pin adapter like one of these:
