Intel PRO/10GbE Server Adapter

I have Intel PRO/10GbE SR Server Adapter installed in dual CPU AMD opteron server. The OS I tried are Solaris 10, Solaris 11 07/05 and Solaris 11 snv_19.
The output of the scanpci is:
Intel Corporation PRO/10GbE LR Server Adapter.
The problem in the MAC address. Please see the output of the dmesg below.

"The installed version of Intel PROSet is not supported for upgrades. You must uninstall it before installing this version."
I have uninstalled the older version and also the PROSet Wireless driver as recommended in the text file installation instructions.  I keep getting the same results.
Can anyone help me get this software installed?
    Thanks,

  • How to install  driver for Intel Pro 1000 PCI Network-card

    Hello,
I just bought the a.m. Intel Pro 1000 Network adapter, but I don't know at all how to install the driver for Solaris 10.
The installation instructions delivered from Intel didn't help me at all, because I can't uncompress the INTCGigae.pkg and the INTCGigaE.tar.z files.
I copied them to /tmp and folllowed Intel's Installlation Instructions.
Please keep in mind I am new to Solaris 10, with no Linux/Unix experience, when helping me.
Thanks in advance for help and assistance.

    Hi!
And what happens if you install the driver from the Toshiba WLAN portal:
    http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/wlan
I still dont know what you mean with Askey for Toshiba
You should try to install the driver manually. Choose in device manager the WLAN card, right click and select Update Driver. Choose the advanced installation where you can choose the driver directory yourself and navigate to the folder where you have stored the downloaded driver.

  • P35 Platinum - Intel PRO 1000 MT Network Adapter problem

    Greetings.
Found out very strage thing - installation of "Intel PRO 1000 MT  Network Adapter" in any PCI slot disabled onboard Intel raid controller!  :(
If this card installed Intel Matrix Storage Manager screen  do not appear in boot process and Raid do not listed in Boot Sequence bios options, instead
I can see Network Adapter in this list. I tryed "Boot from othe devices" option, bus it not work too.
So with this adapter installed I'm not able to boot from raid.
Currently I use bios version 1.4
Any idea how to solve this?
P.S. Installation of old 3COM 3C905CX-TX-M Adapter did not have such effect, but there is no Win x64 drivers for it.

    Hi Maesus,
Thanks, I did and filled information about my computer configuration.
Hope it'll help solve the problem.
    AaronYuri, thans go reply.
But maybe it's some misundestanding - when I say that installation of Intel adapter in PCI slot "disabled onboard Intel raid controllr" it does not mean that raid controller disabled in bios settings - settings in "Integrated Peripherals->On-chip ATA devices" are the same (PCI IDE BusMaster = Enabled, Raid mode = RAID), but it's looks like bios "did not see" raid controller - it disappers from list of devices to boot from and I did not see screen of Intel Matrix in boot proces (this screen alwais presents if controller switched in raid mode)

  • Does my Intel PRO/100 VE Desktop Adapter have auto-negotiate?

My two desktops have all but identical hardware & software (both run XP Pro SP2). I use no router or hub (at least not between these two computers) and for security and other reasons, connect PC 1 to a CAT 6 cable for web surfing and downloading. Occasionally, however, I'll want to back up those youtube videos I download to PC1 onto PC2. I've been using flash drives to do this, but I was curious whether this could also be done via the Intel Pro/100VE NICs in both pcs. Once this simple pc-to-pc network is set up, I thought that during a backup session, I'd just have to disconnect PC2's CAT cable from the house Internet jack, connect the cable between both NICs make a copy of the file(s) that I want to send from the C drive of PC2 to that of PC1 and click send.
However, I've read that the first step is to have valid connectivity between the NICs. That is, you need a CAT crossover cable, not the CAT patch cable I have. OR one, if not both NICs need to have auto-negotiate capability. During a file sharing session, auto-negotiate (which I think is the same as auto-detect, ditto Auto-MDIX, ditto Auto-MID-X) senses that the cable is a patch configuration and electrically re-routes the connections as a crossover (for what I think the Wikipedia calls Full Duplex data communication).
Thus, I connected both NICs with the patch cable. But in Explorer on both PCs, when I click on Network Connections, click the NICs icon, click Configure, click Advanced click Link Speed and Duplex scroll to Auto Detect and click OK, I can't get the NICs to communicate (ie. the red X stays on the icons and the LEDs on the NICs don't light).
So does anyone know if 1.) The Intel Pro/100VE NICs have auto-negotiate. 2.) If yes, how do I enable it or is it done automatically when I connect a patch cable instead of a crossover cable? 3.) If these NICs do have auto-negotiate and if it's fully plug & play, what else has to be done to get these NICs to talk to each other?
Can this kind of NIC to NIC card file sending via CAT 5 cable be done without having to load the Windows XP CD every time I want to transfer files from the hard drive of one pc to that of the other?
And does this involve little more than creating a unique IP address for each of the pcs. If yes, can someone please provide a step-by-step procedure?

  • Network card: e1000g (Intel PRO/1000 MT) did not working properly

    Hi to everyone!
    I'm having some strange trouble.
All computers attached to one DLink gigabit switch
    Server #1:
nf4-based motherboard, Intel PRO/1000 MT net card, onboard net card (forcedeth driver used) Ubuntu Linux 2.6.25 kernel version.
    All just working.
    Server #2:
nf6-based motherboard, same Intel net card, SunOS 5.11 snv_86.
    All just working.
    Server #3:
Same as server's #1 nf4-based motherboard. Same onboard card. Same SunOS 5.11 snv_86 as server #2 have installed.
    Its work. BUT..
Intel card is not working as expected.
It is seen by system. It is properly up and running. It is sending packent and receiving packets. Ierrs=Oerrs=Collis=Queue=0.
But thru e1000g0 interface no one computer can reach this one, and from server #3 no one computer is seen thru e1000g0. Exept...
Except two old Sunray1 devices (attached to the same switch for testing purposes)! But even these devices seen only by arp requests, and is not pingable.
It is some mistery, but if I turn on jubmo frames, these rays got a picture from SRSS, testing on this sevrer! Not for long, heh, they hung up fast, but this is proof a physical connection :)
So, I can not disable onboard network card on Server #3 - server becoming unreachable :(
I know, those network cards must work on Solaris - as they did it on server #2. I know, those network cards work with my nf4-based motherboards - as they did it on server #1.
But I can't uderstand, whait is going on with e1000g driver on server #3!
P.S. Kernel driver e1000g settings are the same. All difference from servers #2 and #3 is: #2 had Intel netcard installed then Solaris was setting up, and #3 had Intel netcard installed later. All netcards are working (I trying to swap them from one computer to another - did not change anything).

*) #3 thinks it is sending, but a NIC/driver error prevents it.NIC is fully health. It is tested on another PC. Driver error - or driver's bad implementation - is the one I'm thinking.
*) #3 has a bad transmit pair of wires (would affect all communication)This patchcord works w/o problems on other PCs and even on onboard NIC of server #3.
    *) Network problemsHeh :)
*) Firewall or other device is dropping the ARP repliesIt is some very stealthy and very selective firewall, affecting only external NICs :)
BTW, then cord is attached to NIC, it sends "who has this IP" requests, asking to be shure there will not be an IP conflict. No one seen this requests.
*) #1 has a NIC/driver error preventing it from seeing the reply.Only for send from #3? It is like a firewall on #3 :) And, there is more PCs, not only #1-#3. No one can see #3's replays (or asks), not only #1..
I'm repeating: this PC works in network now on onboard NIC w/o problems. But onboard NIC is only 100 Mb/s, and we need 1 Gb/s.
I was thinking, Solaris took wrong MAC for NICs - but not, ifconfig shows the same MACs as marked on NICs.
Even more, yesterday i plumbed e1000g1 - second Intel NIC in server #3. And I was surprised - it worked perfectly!
But I make "touch /reconfigure; init 6" - and after reboot, no one of two Intel NICs working again :( They both have the same behavior - no one can see packets they sends.)
I even try to restrict connection on 100 Mb/s by driver's .conf modify - it works, link become yellow instead of green (take a note, NIC is able to "speak" properly with switch!), but all other stay the same.
Strange, really strange behavior. More strange is a fact this NICs work on another instance of same SunOS, but on different motherboard, while the same MB with same NIC is working w/o problems under Ubuntu. Looks like some bug in Solaris driver.

  • Gigabit EtherChannel between 6509 and Intel Pro/1000 MTx

I am trying to configure gigabit etherchannel to connect our backup server with a 6509. The Intel Pro/1000 MT nic in the server has two gigabit ports and supports teaming using LACP. I have configured two gig ports on the 6509 as layer 2 etherchannel ports ( channel-group 2 mode active ). The switch ports always show up as disabled. I can't seem find any documentaion on connecting server to switch using etherchannel ( although the Intel Pro MT nic documentaion does mention it ). Does anyone have experience doing this ?

We always just use load balancing on the Intel NICs and do nothing with the switch but make sure that the ports are in the correct vlan.
We have been using this for over 3 years flawlessly.
    Our switches are a Cat4006 and Cat4506.

  • Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Crashes XP-Pro T61

I recently updated my windows XP Pro SP2 version of windows to SP3. When I went to connect my wireless, it successfully connected, but then I got the BSOD suggesting I uninstall any recently installed h/w or s/w. Windows error reporting suggested a wireless adapter problem, and sure enough, as soon as I disabled the Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection adapter, the crashing stopped. So I went into device drivers, and attempted to update the driver, but was told that it was already updated.
Then I went to Intel’s website and found a couple of updates, but they indicated:
“The driver version of the following products will not update. The Intel PROSet/Wireless WiFi Software version will be updated.
    Intel® PRO/Wireless 3945ABG Network Connection”
So since I prefer to use the ThinkVantage Access connections, I decided to run ThinkVantage System Update, but got the message: “An error occurred while gathering user information.” So I was going to try the solution George had given me a few days ago to solve my “T42 will not connect to secure home wireless/ThinkVantage Access Connections Freezes” problem:
Of downloading the latest version of System Update from here:
     http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS013489
    But I wasn’t sure that would work for my T61 Type 7665-CTO s/n **-***** 08/05. Product ID 7665WZK.

    'afternoon.
first, you should edit your post to remove your serial number.
next, the version of TVSU you linked is correct for your XP machine. the version for win7 was just updated to v5.
finally, if you want to bypass TVSU, for now, you can get any drivers for your PC from the driver matrix here:
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?&LegacyDocID=MIGR-67853
looks like the WLAN driver pack you could use is v14.03.000 available here:

    Hi,
    A probably silly question follows.
    I was given an Intel Pro/1000 Gigabit Ethernet adapter ( 1000BASE-SX )
and I was wondering if I can fit it to a Sun Ultra 30. I plan to buy another
Sun workstation soon ( probably a Blade 1000 or 2000, will see ), will it
    fit there?
( I am after a Sun adapter but just in case... )
    Regards,

    Ops!
Thank you for your reply. :-)

  • Connecting kurzweil sp88 to GB I want to connect my Kurzweil sp88 to GB. The Kurzweil has a baffling array of buttons and possible MIDI channels. It also has the old style MIDI plug ins. I've got the MIDI out connected to my MacBook Pro via USB adapter.

I have my Kurzweil connected to my MacBook Pro via an adapter (old style MIDI from Kurzweil to USB adapter connecting to Mac). The Kurzweil has a baffling array of buttons and possible MIDI channels. Can anyone please tell me which of the channels I should use? Also, should I leave the MIDI In cable out of the Kurzweil? Thanks for as detailed an answer as possible. If you like you can respond directly to me at [email protected]

First of all I do not own this keyboard. But a quick look at the manual (found on the internet) says that when first powered up the SP88 is in Internal Sounds mode. Meaning you hear the sounds selected when playing the keyboard. It also stated that the default Midi Transmit Channel is Midi Channel #1.
Looks like you would need to go to the SP88 Keyboard's MIDI SETUP and simply select LOCAL OFF. Now the keyboard should be ready to transmit Midi Out only and no internal sounds should be heard.
Next you may or may not need to do this but you might need to go into the Utilities Folder found in your Applications Folder on your Mac and double click AUDIO MIDI SETUP the keyboard Icon. Figure #1 below.
Next you need to make a physical connection from the Midi Out of the SP88 to the Midi In on your Midi Interface. Figure #3 below. You may need to Click on Add Device first. Figure #2 below.
In the examples shown below I have a Yamaha Electronic Drum Kit that is Midi Out only... not USB out. I had to plug a Midi cable from the Midi Out Port on the back of my Drum Module to the Midi In Port on the back of my Motu 828 Audio Inferface which is connected to my Mac. Next I created the Audio Interface and Drum Module "Devices" as mentioned above.
I then double clicked on the Drum Module and made my Midi Out Selections. Figure #4 Below. And once it was setup and the icons closed I used my mouse to draw a virtual cable connection from the Drum Module Out to the Audio Interface In. Figure #3 below. This is how I got my Midi Devices to talk to one another.
Once you have made your setup as I have outlined create a MIDI Instrument Track in Garageband, select an instrument for example a Piano then Record Enable that track in Garageband and see if you now hear what you are playing. In this example the SP88 is a Midi Controller only and you will only hear sounds selected in Garageband which is what you want.
Keep in midi your setup may be different than mine. You can keep your SP88 Keyboard on the default Midi Channel #1. That would be a good place to start. Garageband receives Midi on all channels.

  • Request procedure for migrating PPC 10.4 Server setup to Intel 10.4 Server

Here's the background: I've got a G5 Xserve running 10.4.11 Server. It's and OD Master, Windows PDC and AFP, NFS & SMB file server for my whole department. We've purchased a new Intel Xserve (prior to Leopard - I'm not ready to go there yet), but I'm uncertain about the procedure for moving the setup from the G5 to the Intel box, keeping everything the same and working. I'm keeping the hostname the same, too.
What's really unclear (since there's no specific documentation on PPC -> Intel migration) is the order in which to do the OD Replica to Master promotion, the Windows BDC -> PDC promotion and the running of "changeip" to use the original host name on the new machine. I've botched the migration up three times so far, and I'd like to get it right the next time.
I know there can't be two Windows PDCs running concurrently, so I'm assuming that's the last step, but I'm really having trouble with knowing when to run changeip and whether or not the original machine should be running at the same time while changeip is run. Should the OD Replica be promoted before changeip?
If anyone's moved the functionality of a PPC 10.4 Server to an Intel 10.4 Server and moved the name of the system along with it, I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks in advance for your help!

  • Creating PDF's with Central Pro Output Server for AS400 (iseries)

Today we generate spool files on the AS400 (iSeries)using Central Pro Output Server on the AS400. The user now wants to create the spool files as PDF's and then email them as attachments with a password to open them. Can this be done ?

I don't know if there is anything specific about the AS400 version of Central Pro that would prevent you from doing that. The Windows version comes with a task "JFPVMRG" that demonstrates how to create a PDF. Of course, the forms have to include the PDF "Presentation Target" before this will work. There is also a "JFEMSEND" task/agent for firing up the "messaging agent" that would do the emailing. I have no idea if you can require a password before opening an attachment.
