  • PCMCIA Realtek Ethernet card not detected

Hi, I'm trying to use a PCMCIA Etherner Card with Realtek chip.
If the card it's already plugged when booting, Udev takes 180000 ms to finish and the card doesn't work. If it's plugged while booted, dmesg shows that there's a "something" at SmartCardBus but, again, card doesn't get recognized.
"Ifconfig -a" shows nothing, and I know the card works 'cause I've tryed with an Ubuntu cd and the cards works perfect. I've looked for the modules, and 8139too & 8139cp where loaded, wich I've tryed in arch and still doesn't work, It also detects the same hardware with lspci (Arch detects the Cardbus but not the realtek card, Ubuntu detects both) and lspcmcia.
Ubuntu is using kernel 2.6.27-7 and Arch 2.6.28.

    Nevermind...It's Kernel 2.6.28...I'm a lucky guy, eh? :-(
Booted into Arch Overlod cd and a simple lspci show my shiny new card...Now  i'm going to erase my hole system (it was new anyway) and check if a Suy breaks the drivers again. In that case, i should file a bug somewhere, right?

  • Installing RealTek ethernet card in solaris 7 sparc machine

I inserted RealTek ethernet card in my Solaris-7 Sparc machine. But to work it properly ,need to install driver for the card. I searched a lot but i did't get the driver to download . I have read from some sites that the driver for solaris 7 sparc is not avaliable. How can i solve this problem.?
Anybody please help me to solve the problem.

You can try a NIC driver from RealTek, directly.
    http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/
... but for a SPARC system? That may be problematic.
Does OBP see the device? Use show-devs at the OK prompt.
If it isn't seen at OBP's elementary hardware level, the OS will never use it.
If it is recognized at OBP, then try the manufacturer's drivers.
Return to the forum and let the rest of us know what happens..

I have installed the agent 10 or 15 times and one installation has failed, no error appeared during the installation but I am having inconsistent issues with my ethernet card not working here and there. We rebooted and can log into Novell client but the login prompt did not appear for ESM client or the icon was not in the systray. Everything seems to work, besides at times (a couple times today) it terminates his ethernet card/connection. I would re-image his computer but he has several applications and it would take several hours, so I am hoping someone has an idea to fix this issue. So I was trying to figure out why he did not get the prompt to login and why it's not in the systray and it appears to not have completed the install? I checked the add/remove programs, its not listed within their, I also checked the registry and found nothing for endpoint within their, but the files are within c:\program files\novell\zenworks endpoint security.
I have also tried uninstalling it but that fails due to it "not being installed", and it will not reinstall over itself either.
I did notice that stuninstdrv.exe is running in task manager. Any help would be great...

If you are searching the registry, check for the "Senforce" string. It should be at HKLM\Software\Senforce
Try running the install program for the ZSC with the following command line:
    setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1"
If you've specified an uninstall password, try this one instead:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1 STUIP=password"" (please note the double quote at the end)
Let me know if that helped you.

  • Ethernet card not found?

    Hello all
I'm new to Solaris. I have Solaris 8 for the intel platform and installed it successfully on an amd processor but it does not go out to my network. I can not ping my router or access the internet with the box. How can I tell if Solaris picked up my ethernet card <linksys 10/100 PCI> during installation and if it did not what possible steps would I have to talk in order to connect this box to my router and the network. Anyone can help?
    Thanks all,

If Solaris detected the card at install, when it was defining your system, it would've asked for an IP address, whether you wanted to run DNS etc., and whether you were on a subnet, prompting for the subnet mask if you replied 'yes.'
Network cards seem to be the great jumping-off point for Solaris on the PC platform. I am trying desperately to find a NIC that 2.5.1 likes.
    Good luck.

  • Ethernet Card Not being Detected on my iMac 27Inch (Mid2010)

    Hello,
I have only had my iMac for a couple of months, and it appears to have developed a fault. I have a network router, and a network cable is plugged in however, the Network Panel keeps reading as "Cable: Unplugged". It is not, i can assure you.
When I got into the About This Mac > System Profiler, it has "This computer does not appear to have any PCI Ethernet cards installed." under the Ethernet Card option
I'm currently on Wireless (very skechty), and that also keeps dropping out even though the router is less a foot from the iMac.
    Any Solutions or Advise please?
    Thanks Phill C

I have the same problem after I installed LION on my imac 27" (Late 2010). It was working for few days and then after I restarted my computer my network card just went dead. Since I have several partitions I can boot back to Snow Leopard and it shows me ethernet just fine. So it means that LION has bugs and many bugs from what I can tell. It is wide spread problem and not sure if apple is doing anything about htis.

  • PRESTO GIGABIT PRO Ethernet Card not detected in Mac OS 10.5.8

    Hello,
I am an IT Technician who is troubleshooting an issue with the network card on a PowerMac G5 tower. I have installed the PRESTO GIGABIT PRO Ethernet card (which states that it is compatible with Power Mac G5 (with PCI or PCI-x slots). After I install it, and plug an ethernet cable into the ethernet port on the card, it appears as if it is getting network activity since the LED lights begin to blink on the card. However, when I boot the G5 with Leopard 10.5.8, it does not see the network card in the system profiler under PCI cards. The only PCI card detected is a Broadcom 5702 in PCI slot 3. I have tried seating the card in different PCI slots but I still get the same result. Do you all have any ideas what may be causing this issue and a possible remedy for it? Thanks for any assistance that you can provide.

Hi Bruce, and a warm welcome to the forums!
I can't find the PCI card, just the PCIe card...
    http://www.sonnettech.com/support/kb/kb.php?cat=164&expand=a3_a2b405&action=b490#b490
    http://www.amazon.com/Presto-Gigabit-Ethernet-PCIe-Card/dp/B0017K6BR8
But on a hunch, System Preferences>Network, unlock the Lock if need be, see if you get New Port Detected, or click the little + icon and see if you can add Ethernet.
If it works & that is the Interface used for Internet, click on the little Gear icon>Set Service Order, drag Ethernet to the top.

  • Bridging WiFi and ethernet cards not working

My setup is that I have a laptop with both a wifi card and an ethernet card that can connect to the network via wifi. I also have a desktop with no wifi card that I want to use on the network. I have the two connected via an ethernet cable. I want to bridge the wired and wireless connections on my laptop so that my desktop can be on the same network. When I do this, however, problems arise on the wifi. According to iwconfig, it can connect to the network, but when I run dhcpcd on the wireless interface it times out on waiting for carrier. The bridging in WIndows works fine, but I'd rather not reboot just for this task. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? I am running a bcm4312 wifi card if it helps.

  • Airport card not configured?

Hello all, i have searched and searched and still can't find an answer to my questions. I am trying to setup airport express with my speakers (airtunes)... I have an airport extreme base station (802.11n) and it works just fine with my MBP and my wife's MB. When I start AirPort Setup assistant....
"In order to use the AirPort Setup Assistant your AirPort card must be enabled and AirPort needs to be turned on and set to use DHCP. Click OK if you would like to change these settings, or Skip if you would like to configure AirPort Base Stations using ethernet."
when I click OK, the following comes up:
"There was an error communicating with your AirPort card. Please make sure it is installed properly and try the AirPort Setup Assistant again."
I have Airport Disk Utility, Airport Utility, and Airport Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow - i think they came with the airport extreme. I tried to run the airport setup assistant on the macbook as well, but the same thing happened. please help, it would be so greatly appreciated.

When joining a wireless network, it is normal for the device that is joining (in this case your AX) to no longer be an available wireless network on the AirPort drop-down menu. However, both base stations should still be "seen" in the AirPort Utility after restarting the utility.
If this is not the case, then do another "factory default" reset on the AX, and then, try placing the AX near the AEBSn when setting it up to "Join an existing wireless network." Update the changes on the AX and then wait at least 5 minutes for it to restart. Once restarted, shutdown, and then, restart the AirPort Utility. Do you see both base stations now? If you do, go ahead and move the AX to it's desired final location downstairs. Again, wait at least 5 minutes for the AX to restart after you plug it back in.
If both base stations are still not visible in the AirPort Utility, and the AX's status light is flashing amber, then the problem might be related to Wi-Fi interference...
It is very possible that you may have some form of Wi-Fi interference in the immediate area that is preventing you from getting a good clean signal between the AEBSn & the AX.
I suggest you perform a simple site survey, using utilities like KisMAC, MacStumbler, iStumbler, or IPNetMonitorX to determine potential areas of interference...and then, try to either eliminate or significantly reduce them.

  • Satellite M-115 S1061 Ethernet Controller not configured correctly

Hi all. I'm the third person who's owned this laptop and I have none of the original documentation, software - nothing. I recently had to reinstall the OS and since I didn't have the original OS I had to use another copy of WinXP pro that I had. Well, the network adapter is installed fine and working correctly, but the ethernet controller is not. I don't know a lot about these things, but I thought that if one was working right the other should be too. Do they use different drivers? I tried the file here:
    http://cdgenp01.csd.toshiba.com/content/support/downloads/lan_driver_realtek_25058B.exe
and I tried the latest file from the realtek site, for my Realtek RTL8139 Family Fast Ethernet NIC.
Neither of those solved the problem. The Ethernet Controller is still there in DM with an exclamation mark next to it - along with the SM Bus Controller. Could the bus controller be the reason the controller won't install right?
What am I missing? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, all, I appreciate the replies. Unfortunately, the problem persists. I've downloaded all drivers, installed everything I could find for the M115. Everything is working fine (including now the SMBus controller) EXCEPT the Ethernet Controller. It's still not installed properly. I've manually searched for a working driver in every lan driver download for the M115 I could find, and also the PCI_Install pack from the Realtek site. None of them work.
Someone please clarify something for me: is the ethernet controller a component of the Network adapter or is it related to the wireless card? I'm thinking it must be for the wireless because I don't have it on my desktop system, which doesn't have a wireless card. But if it's for the wireless, why can't I get an internet connection through my cable modem? The Network adapter on my laptop is working, and I see that all the settings are exactly the same as on my desktop, and when I run IPconfig it shows an IP address and subnet mask, but I keep getting that message that my conenction has limited or no connectivity. In addition to the Client, File & printer Sharing, QoS Packet Scheduler, and the Internet Protocol, should I be seeing anything else when I look at the Connection Properties of my laptop? (And for the record, I've installed the wireless drivers too.)
Could the problem have something to do with me using WinXP pro rather than the home edition originally installed on the laptop? Maybe none of the drivers are compatible with the pro version? Doesn't seem likely, but I'm getting desperate here. Also, is it possible I get no internet connection because I'm not using the original computer I set up my internet on? Something to do with different MAC addresses or something?
    TIA!

  • USB Ethernet will not configure

    Hello,
Today I started to have problems with my USB Ethernet dongle on my Yosemite Macbook Pro Late 2013 Retina.   I deleted the device from Network Utility then rebooted thinking I would re-initialze it.  After rebooting, the System Info recognizes the USB LAN device but Network Utility does not list it.  This appears to be software issue.  I have confirmed the dongle works fine on another laptop (Windows).  Any ideas how to fix this issue?
    TIA

The driver is built into Mac OS X.  The dongle worked fine for weeks on Yosemite.  It is a Cable Matters Cable Matters USB 2.0 to 10/100 Fast Ethernet

  • AirPort Setup Assistant says my Airport Card is "not configured"

I'm trying to install an AirPort Express Base Station that I got for xmas.
I'm using a MacBook Pro 17" with OS X 10.5.1, and my goal with the AirPort Express is to plug it into a stereo to play iTunes wirelessly.
By the way I use AirPort on my MacBook every day, all the time, for internet access through another base station which is plugged into the internet.
Okay, so when I launch the AirPort Setup Assistant and hit the continue button it immediately tells me "AirPort card not configured. In order to use the AirPort Setup Assitant your AirPort card must be enabled and AirPort needs to be turned on and set to use DHCP. Click OK if you would like to change these settings, or Skip if you would like to configure AirPort Base Stations using ethernet."
After I click OK it tells me:
"AirPort card error. There was an error communicating with your AirPort card. Please make sure it is installed properly and try the AirPort Setup Assistant again."
Obviously my AirPort card is working fine, or I wouldn't be able to post on this forum!
When I open Network Preferences I see AirPort is connected to my home network. In the Advanced Settings, on the TCP/IP tab I see that "Configure IPv4" is set to "Using DHCP". And "Configure IPv6" is set to "Automatically" (Not that I have any idea what these two things mean!)
Maybe someone on this forum is much smarter than me with this stuff? Ack!

That solved it! Thank you very much.
Apple, if you're listening, it would be nice if something in the install flow had checked with my OS or something to see if I still needed to install what was on the CD. All I did was open the package (which was purchased in December) and follow directions, and wound up with a problem not covered in the documentation.
Thanks to Tesserax I'm still a happy customer.
    Send Tesserax a giftcard!

  • Changing the speed of the ethernet card

Referring to this topic I posted earlier: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=568098&tstart=0
I called my ISP, and they could only think of one thing: that there is a conflict between my MacBook's fast ethernet card and my old DSL box (that is capable of only 10 Mb/s).
So, they suggested I try to change the speed of my ethernet card to 10 Mb/s.
The problem is, how do I do it?

I think your ethernet builtin is downgrade compatible, which mean it will run on 10 mbps too without you have to changed the speed.
It is the first time I hear that we should adjust the transfer rate to lower setting.
If your ethernet card max is 10 mbps and you want to use 100 mbps, than you must change the ethernet card or use other external ethernet card, not the other way around.
    Good Luck

I am running Solaris 8 IA, and have two 3com Ethernet cards. One (elxl1) is a 10Base-T card that is used to connect to my cable modem, and the other (elxl0) is a 100Base-TX card that I use to connect to my internal network.
I had been using a crossover cable to connect elxl0 to my Windows machine (my Solaris box is running ipfilter for firewalling and NAT), and it worked perfectly. I purchased a Linksys switch, and get about 90% packet loss when the two machines are connected to it.
What I'm thinking is that I need to hardcode the speed and duplex settings of elxl0. Of course, I'd prefer to set it to 100/Full, but if I edit elxl.conf, the settings take effect for both cards, and causes elxl1 to not function, since it is not capable of running at 100/Full.
Is there a way to tell the OS that I want to set elxl0 to 100/Full without affecting elxl1?
A response here or via e-mail at [email protected] would be greatly appreciated.

maybe a driver configuration bug? Does modinfo show two instances of the driver??
Does man ndd offer any help?

  • Configuring RTL8019 Ethernet Card

I'm installing Solaris 8 for PC and would like to use my RTL8019 Chip based Ethernet Card. However it seems that solaris do not support it. I can config thet ethernet card as NE2000 Compatible, but this model is also not supported.
Is it possibkle that solaris for intel doesn't support these ethernet card ? is there someone that has a driver for it ?
    Thanks

    Hi Karim,
You check the intel solaris 8 hardware compatibility list with your NIC card.
