Intelligent Agent doesn't work

Hi dear colleagues,
I got a problem with the Intelligent Agent.
I installed Oracle 8i EE 8.1.5 and OEM 2.1 on Windows 2000 server. When I
try to discover the databases with OEM, OEM could only find the node, it could
not find any database. So I thought maybe the Agent got some problem. I
opened the log file nmiconf.log, the following is the message in it:
DBSNMP for 32-bit Windows: release 8.1.5 - Production on 13-MAY-02 20:04:18
Warning : Listener LISTENER defined in H:\Oracle\Ora81\network\admin\listener.ora will be skipped because, it does not have a corresponding NT service entry

Warning : No Listener found for SID SIDDB1. SIDDB1 will be skipped

But I don't know where and how to create a NT service entry corresponding to
the listener LISTENER. Please help me!

I think there is no problem with the intelligent agent. It seems to be a problem with your net8 configuration. I think the problem could be caused by several reasons:
1. Your listener is not configured properly: the listener.ora file should contain a valid service entry for the database (you can do this with the net8 assistant provided by oracle. Normally it should be installed by default)
2. The agent looks in the wrong listener.ora file for a service entry. So do you have more then one ORACLE_HOME and more the one listener.ora file on the node?
3. Do you have more then one network interface and are you working with more then one hostname alias? That could also cause a problem. It could be a solution to replace the hostname in the host=name part of the listener.ora file with the right!! IP adress. May be you have to test all the IP adresses of your node.

Intelligent Agent doesn't recognise database

I've got a database under ORA 8.1.7. The Net8 Manager was replaced by Net Manager when I installed the version 9i migration assistent. So the listener is configured by this newer version. I copied the listener.ora file in the correct Oracle Home directory but still the intelligent agent refuses to recognise the database. OEM fails to show the database in return and thus I'm not able to backup the DB, e.g.

Chat with an agent doesn't work

I have been trying for the last hour to get into the chat with an agent feature, does this feature work? Has anyone else used it?

So I've been trying for the last hour on my new Intel iMac using Safari and the browser Window just hangs ... Maybe I should get my Windows laptop out and use IE?

SMD Agent doesn't work

I have been trying to install SMD Agent in my BI system but Solution Manager can't check it, this is the message in Solman_setup
Wilyhost Agent configuration finished without errors, but on Enterprise Manager (sapl917.intra.banesco.com:6001) no Wilyhost Agent was detected from host svs978. Please check the log file jvm_smdagent.out whether the Wilyhost Agent could connect to the Enterprise Manager. If the Enterprise Manager configuration has been changed recently please restart the SMD Agent on OS level.

LM Components were updated for EHP1 SPS21, I installed SMD Agents in DEV and some QA servers and they work, but this one specially works as a fail over for a PRD cluster enviroment, and for that reason I'm using logical name, in SMSY it is configure with the same name, do you have any ideas?

Launchd - agent doesn't work

Hi Didier,
   I like your MontageAuto.sh script; I've not seen df used that way. If the AFP shares are not mounted, does the script work when run in the command line as dchambon? The only possible syntax error I see is that you didn't use fully-qualified domain names for the servers, XServPao and W2SSINFOB01. It is possible that your dchambon user has a search domain preference. As a consequence, the mount_afp commands may work only after that preference takes effect. Naturally, it's possible that that preference is not set at the time the Launchd job is run.
   I don't think that RunAtLoad is a mode in which you can run this type of job. RunAtLoad is used to start daemons that run continuously. In fact, Launchd is expected to relaunch the daemon if it quits, which is why you get the error message, "fr.dchambon.MontageAuto: exited abnormally: Broken pipe." One would think that the script would run at least once but I've heard reports of other scripts failing under these circumstances.
   Unfortunately, I don't have a good alternative to RunAtLoad. I would try just removing that key and its value. You could also make the script a LoginHook. To that end, you might find the following article useful, Mac OS X: Creating a login hook. Of course the LoginHook would be run as root.

Has Anyone gotten the Intelligent Agent to work???

I have Oracle installed and all is well except for a few minor
problems that I think the Intelligent Agent will solve. Has
anyone gotten this to work on RedHat 6.0 with Oracle
Enterprise Edition 8.0.5.1??? I was able to get it to work
under Oracle8 SE, but I need EE for the ConText Cartridge.
I have gotten to the point where I can get the dbsnmp process
running, but OEM cannot talk to it.

I'm having the same problem. Does anyone out there have a
solution?
I am running RedHat Linux 6.0 straight out of the box. The only
change I made was to set the kernel parameters according to the
release notes and recompile the kernel.
P.S. Oracle deserves our thanks for providing free developer
licenses to so many of its products, but this is the buggiest
install I've ever seen in my 12 years of working with their
products. Didn't anyone from Oracle test the install? This
problem and the zero length libnjni8.so file are the real
doozies.
I've followed the release notes and installation guide to the
letter and have found several documentation / distribution bugs
that should have leapt out at the first person who tried it.

TFS 2012 Update 4 - Build Alert - "A build controller or agent's status changes" doesn't work correctly

We are running TFS2012 Update 4 and have set up some build alerts. The alert we have set up is "A build controller or agent's status changes". When this alert is first set up the default filters which are included are for fields "Team
Project" and "Status". However through much testing we have discovered that when either of these fields are included as a filter the alert doesn't work. When other fields are used in the filter the alert works fine (as long
as neither of the stated fields are included), indeed if all alert filters are removed then the alert also works successfully. Has anyone else experienced this? Is there an issue with the fields "Team Project" and "Status"?

SSH Agent in GNOME Doesn't Work

I'm using GNOME for my personal desktop needs.. I have to connect to several remote server (or PC's) in a shell and I don't want to re-enter my passwords in the same session. This is my problem:

So SSH Agent doesn't cache or save the passwords I enter.. So I have to enter the password each time. (Maybe this is happening because of the same reason why Seahorse doesn't working on my system.. :S)

Did you run ssh-add to tell ssh-agent which key to use ? If not, ssh-agent will not know anything about any keys/pass phrases you enter into specific ssh sessions.

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

Oracle intelligent agent executable has encountered a problem and needs to

Hi All,
I am getting the following message after commence of OS (windows XP) on my LAPTOP.
"Oracle Intelligent Agent Executable has Encountered a Problem and needs to close."
due to the above problem it takes time to be fit to start working. that is; when i start my laptop then it gets ready very shortly but just later on it is seen that my laptop gets to be hanged. it seems that some background process runs and during this time nothing can be done on my laptop (even REFRESH - F5 doesn't respond). then after some time the above message comes. this process seems to be very much annoying.
there is a small Oracle database (9i) in my laptop along with Oracle developer (10g).

You probably don't want/need that service to run anyway. So go to your control panel/Adminstrative Tools/Services
and set Start Type to Manual for Oracle<ORACLE_HOME_NAME>Agent service

Intelligent Agent 8.1.6 and Enterprise Manager 8.1.7

I installed the Oracle 8.1.7 Enterprise Manager on Windows 2000 and want to connect to a database on a Dec-Unix system. My Problem: On the Unix-Server there is installed an 8.1.7 Database, but the 8.1.6 Intelligent Agent. Is it possible, and how can I get the information, wich Agent is running?
I think, I cannot connect with a never version of Enterprise Manager to an older Agent. Is this correct?

Missing lsnrctl Intelligent agent after installed patch81501

I don't know how to solve out this problem ! I need to start the
agent:
%lsnrctl dbsnmp_start
This file should be under $ORACLE_HOME/bin, at this time the
file cannot executables and renamed "lsnrctl.pre-81501"

This worked for me... on S.u.S.E 5.3

Livid with Apple - It just doesn't work. EVER

Hi Guys,
As the title suggests I am beyond aggrevated with Apple. But in the interest of healthy blood pressure and actually solving the problem; I will now continue with the problem at hand.
I have through the years provided support for clients who own Apples, and I have through many years of frustration (due to illogical, broken and unnecessary Apple software functions) and oh so many forum visits solved their problems to their satisfaction.
This one takes the cake however.
My client recently broke the glass of his iPad (64Gig) and is now unable to navigate around. He did however buy an ipad mini(16Gig) for his son afterwards and now wants all the kiddie apps loaded onto his sons. I proposed that we perform a backup of his iPad in iTunes and then just restore to the iPad mini as some of his apps was bought in Mauritius and are nor available here for purchase.
First problem:
We can't restore the backup (45gig of which 30 gigs are pictures) because the iPad mini has too little space. No problem (or so I thought), let's just delete his photos after I manually backed them up. It turns out we cant delete the photos on his iPad (syncing doesnt work, nor can we manually remove them) because iTunes (he is running 10.6.8 and cannot upgrade further) doesn't provide the function of deleting things, and like I just said the syncing doesn't work. This after trying EVERY solution and workaround presented in the forums.
Second Problem:
This would all have been easily solved if we could just do a memory upgrade on the mini. But Apple has seen fit to force their clients to go out and buy BRAND NEW iPad's if they want a small ram upgrade.
Third problem:
I tried the syncing seperately via iPhoto and guess what? After about 4 hours of waiting around for it to syncronize it did Jack Diddly Squat.
Can anyone that maybe has had the same problem provide a solution?
For those PR agents out there who actually care, just make things simple. People WANT simple. I'm done with punting your low quality products though.

you can import ALL those photos into iphoto. Then EXPORT them to a large capacity hard drive. Then sort through the photos and sync em to the other ipad.
When you export movies then make sure you choose ORIGINAL not JPEG.

Intelligent Agent Won't Run - Please Help!

Suse 6.1. Most everything seems to work correctly. I can connect
to the databases from client software.
But I can't get the Intelligent Agent to run in either case.
When I check on it's status after attempting to start it I get
the message "The DBSubAgent is not started".
What does this mean? What do I need to do in order to get the
Intelligent Agent to run?
