Intelligent agent installation.

I just found that the reason my OEM's Navigator doesn't populate is because the Intelligent Agent is not running on my Oracle/Linux box. But how do I install/run it? Some Doc mentioned "<Note:97135.1>" whithout telling where to find it. Can someone help me on that?
Thanks.

  • Installation of  Oracle Intelligent Agent from the Oracle CD-ROM

I just want to Install the Oracle Intelligent Agent from the Oracle CD-ROM as per the Oracle Enterprise Manager Installation Guide. The Intelligent Agent is a separate component to select but it was not selected at the time of installation . Please suggest how i can install it now.

When prompted hit 'Custom install'. This allows you to select any component.
Obviously this is also in the installation documentation.

  • Has Anyone gotten the Intelligent Agent to work???

I have Oracle installed and all is well except for a few minor
problems that I think the Intelligent Agent will solve. Has
anyone gotten this to work on RedHat 6.0 with Oracle
Enterprise Edition 8.0.5.1??? I was able to get it to work
under Oracle8 SE, but I need EE for the ConText Cartridge.
I have gotten to the point where I can get the dbsnmp process
running, but OEM cannot talk to it.

I'm having the same problem. Does anyone out there have a
    solution?
I am running RedHat Linux 6.0 straight out of the box. The only
change I made was to set the kernel parameters according to the
release notes and recompile the kernel.
P.S. Oracle deserves our thanks for providing free developer
licenses to so many of its products, but this is the buggiest
install I've ever seen in my 12 years of working with their
products. Didn't anyone from Oracle test the install? This
problem and the zero length libnjni8.so file are the real
    doozies.
I've followed the release notes and installation guide to the
letter and have found several documentation / distribution bugs
that should have leapt out at the first person who tried it.

  • Oracle 8i Intelligent Agent Service problem

    Hi!
We successfully installed Oracle 8i (8.1.7 ee) on Intel P-IV (Xeon) server running Windows 2000 Advanced server (Service Pack 2). It was working properly until now. There was no problem in implementing the tricks useful in installation. After that, database service "OracleService<DBName>" presented problem by not automatically starting on computer startup but it was tamed by "Oradim" command added to startup folder.
All was going smoothly for about a month now but when I rebooted the server PC yesterday, the service "Oracle<HomeName>Agent" failed to start. Along with it the DataGatherer and TNSListener services also failed (Only db service OracleService<DBName> starts but very very slowly). The Windows Event Viewer descriped the problme for Agent service as ,"The Oracle<HomeName>Agent service terminated with the following error: %%3221356551 ". The Event ID is always 7023 for this error. The rest of services just don't give any error codes. It is also stated that nothing has been installed/Uninstalled on this PC in the last several days and no configration changes, in tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora, listener.ora, win registry has been made. The TCP/IP configration are intact and NTFS folder and file rights are properly defined.
Starting the service using "Net Start <service_name>" also failed with the message,"System error 7 has occured, Storage control blocks will be destroyed".
Searching online, I also performed some steps in correcting the problem like backup and delete all *.q, snmp_ro.ora, snmp_rw.ora, services.ora files. But to no help. The log files in Oracle_Home\network\logs also dont record the problem even after setting the trace level to Admin or 16. The Agent service simply refuses to start...
Reinstalling Oracle (over existing one, not first removing it altogether. We simply cann't do this now for data loss!!!) or just the Intelligent Agent itsself using univeral installer also fails at the end when it tries to start the intellegent Agent Service Oracle<HomeName>Agent. This time the error described is "O/S error in starting service".
Is this something to do with Xeon server coz the same Oracle 8i is installed much before than this on another P-IV server (not xeon) running the same Op system and it never presented us this problem todate. Its also worth mentioning that this problem occured before as well, on the second day we installed Oracle 8i the first time on Xeon. Since there was no data then, we simply removed oracle, cleared registry and started all over again BUT now it cann't be done.
Any help shall be highly appreciated.
    With Regards, Rashid.

Thanks for stopping by this thread. Problem has been resolved from another forum. Actually c:\oracle folder was accessable to administrator only, when I added 'Everyone' to the permission list as well, everything started fine. Allowing 'Everyone' to this folder is dangerous but its working for now :)

  • Oracle 10g intelligent agent

    Hi,
I can see the agenctl and dbsnmp in the $ORACLE_HOME/bin for 9i installations but I can't see any of that for the 10g install. Can someone please point me to where the agent executables and control scripts reside on a 10g install?
Or the agent does not come with the 10g database software?
    Thanks

    wait,
there is no Intelligent Agent in 10g.
There is new kind of agent, the Enterprise Manager 10g agent. You deploy only one 10g agent per host, and it will monitor not only all your databases, but also your file systems and operating system.
You can have both agents running, the Intelligent Agent (8i/9i) and the Grid Control Agent (10g).
There is no way, as far as I know, to upgrade your 9i agent to 10g. You have to configure your Grid. The agents are not at all compatible, they do not use the same port and they do not use the same protocol (the 10g agent use HTTP).

  • Manually starting Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant and HTTP Listener

I have installed Oracle 9i on Solaris 8 and it stopped with an "Out of Memory" error during the Starter Database creation. I have fixed the memory problem and have now manually started the Database Configuration Assistant manually and managed to install a new database. Now I am trying to start the Intelligent Agent Configuration Assistant and the Apache HTTP Listener, but I cannot find out how to do this so that I can continue on with and complete the installation process from where I left off.
Do anyone know how to do this? I would appreciate any help that anyone can give.
    Thanks
    Anthony

Lets start with what product you are installing and why. An Oracle database installation, in and of itself, does not install an HTTP server.
Of course one might also wonder why you are, just now, installing software so old it is in desupport.

  • Oracle Intelligent Agent Won't Run

    Hello World,
I have just installed Oracle 9i DB on Windows XP. When I installed Oracle
Dev. Suite 9i on the same machine my Oracle Intelligent Agent stopped working. I checked the services tool and noticed that the installation of DEV. SUITE 9i had installed an agent for Developer's Suite Oracle home. Both agents are not working. They both terminate in the same manner AGNTSRVC.exe Failed and the GUI request to send the error to MicroSoft. What can I do to get this Oracle Agent working.
    Many thanks
    Emmanuel

I am also having this problem, but generally just when it is starting on boot up. I can go into services and start it manually, so it runs (although it has a tendency to crash). I get the following in the nohup file:
    Service name is OracleOraHome9iAgent
    Failed while initializing Comm service
    Error initializing subsystems
Agent exited on 08/29/2002 06:00 with return value 55
Could not start agent. Initialization failure
Agent startup failed. Check E:\oracle\network\log\OracleOraHome9iAgent.nohup for details
Not a big problem, yet. Experience tells me, though, that when one little thing starts having problems, more and more things start having problems.

  • How to install intelligent agent

Can someone please tell me how to install the intelligent agent on the NT server 4.0 platform? I can't install the intelligent agent extension pack due to my intelligent agent hasn't been installed yet.
    Please help!

Explain what kind of installation you did. Accoding to what I know in 10g there is not an intelligent agent service to administer it explicitly.

  • Intelligent Agent and TCL7.5

Hello, following the Oracle8i release notes I've compiled and
installed TCL7.5 for use with the Oracle Intelligent Agent.
Once libtcl7.5.a is built and copied to the

installation in /usr/local be deleted? I have 8.0 already
installed and have no use for 7.5 other than for Oracle.

Yes, all that Oracle needs is the library to link in.

  • Problems installing TCL 7.5 and Oracle Intelligent Agent

    All
Has anyone had any success in installing TCL 7.5 and Oracle
Intelligent Agent? If so could you please provide a step by step
summary of the installation process. I keep getting error
messages when I run gmake for TCL. I commented out the lines
specified in the instructions. Does one have to use TCL 7.5? I
even tried to run version 8.2 and it restarted my machine while
running gmake test. Maybe it is how I commented the lines. I
used the # character to comment out the lines. Please help. IFve
got everything else running I can even use Net8 and SQL plus
from my Windows NT Client. I now need to be able to use Oracle
Enterprise Manager, which requires TCL 7.5 and Oracle
    Intelligent Agent.

I ran into "stat" symbol issues during some builds. I don't

"-shared" to the cc (for linking) command helps. I think the make

  • Request for Intelligent Agent separate download

Is it possible to separate sub-components of the RDBMS release? Specifically, I would like to be able to download just the 9.2 Intelligent Agent for various platforms. The full 9i release is far too large! Also, having to move between 3 installation disks during a session with the OUI is "a pain" for installing a single component such as the I/Agent.
May I also suggest, for the same reasons, that some other sub-components such as the Enterprise Manager and HTTP listener be considered for separate downloads from the OTN site.
    Thanks,
