Intelligent agents for data retrieval

Hi all,
does anybody know about the feasibility of deploying java agents to gather information from public-access databases? Does java provide any predefined classes, for example?

Opinions on IBM DB2 Intelligent Miner for Data...

I'm going to be getting into Oracle data mining or the IBM DB2
Intelligent Miner for Data. The info given out by IBM (online at
http://www-3.ibm.com/software/data/iminer/fordata) indicates
that it ought to be okay if I've got an Oracle database. I've
installed Oracle8i Enterprise Edition (8.1.7) on Windows 2000; &
I've got the 9i installer cd's (I've not gotten that far yet).
For now, I'm interested in opinions on if/whether I ought to go
with Oracle Data Mining (9i, I guess...is this an option in 8i?)
or the IBM data mining option. I'm looking for an intuitive
interface, obvious & easy-to-follow instructions (if this
exists); & features, I guess. Is one going to offer a nicer
overall interface but be limiting?, etc. Thanks,

Update
i had another hanpup in BW.
Our AIX level is : 6100-05-01-1016 (released in 4/2010)
I find an APAR for TL4 from 4/2010, which shows the same behaviour.
So i'll try db2_use_iocp=off
Info to APAR:
APAR Number: IZ74508
APAR status
Closed as program error.
Error description
When IOCP is on and used by DB2 at AIX 6.1 TL04, DB2
calls
sqloGetMultipleCompletionStatus() which in turn
calls AIX's IOCP extension.
The IOCP call GetMultipleCompletionStatus() never returns
causing I/O to stop when DB2 is in it's page cleaning
routines.
Local fix
1. Stay at 6.1 TL03 and below
or
2. Do not activate IOCP in DB2.
We will see how it works.

Oracle Intelligent Agent for Novell Netware 5.01

Does anybody has configured the Intelligent Agent in a Novell Environment. We are running Oracle 8.0.4.2.0 in a Novell 5.01.
We are running an environment with 3 Databases. One for test, one for mess arround and our working database. I need to installa the Intelligent Agent in order to run the Enterprise Manager.
If so, can anyone send me a copy of the SNMP_RO.ora and SNMP_RW.ora and some instructions to configure the Intellingent Agent.
I am sending this because I am having the following error:
DBSNMP Discovery Warning: No Listener found for SID TEST.
DBSNMP Discovery Warning: No Listener found for SID OMED.
DBSNMP Discovery Warning: No Listener found for SID PILO.
can't read "OutSnmpOraLocation": no such variable
Failed to initialize nl component,error=462
Please help.

How to config or start Intelligent Agents for OEM

I have install the ORACLE 8.1.7 on redhat 7 successfully. Then I start the "o8ibegin" database instance, start the Oracle Management Server successfully. But, when I start the OEM by using "oemapp console", I could not discover the nodes, it tells me that I maybe do not have Oracle Intelligent Agents. I have chosen to install Oracle Intelligent Agents on install phase, and I have checked that Oracle Intelligent Agents have installed on my system.
I want to know how to start the Oracle Intelligent Agents service. I remember Oracle Intelligent Agents is a service on Windows NT/2000 version. I alos met such problem on Windows NT/2000, and when I start the Oracle Intelligent Agents service throught service applet on control panel, I resolve the problem.

try 'lsnrctl dbsnmp_start' to start
and 'lsnrctl dbsnmp_status' to verify

How to make join bsis,bkpf,bseg table with zdbb and zobb table for data retrieval

I have an abap development requirement in which i have to retrieve data fields from different table, like bsis ,bkpf, bsip, bsas, pyar, lfa1,skat,etc.
I have retrieved data from bsis and bkpf and bseg by finding common field like "belnr, budat bukrs gjahr" to through FOR ALL ENTERIES, but when I going to get relevant data from zdbb table which is orginated bank details table ,in this I haven't find any common field on the basis of which i retrieve relevant data,
please guide me in in this regard as I have already searched web for this solution but haven't find a satisfactory answer.

Performance tuning for data retrieval for PCL4 cluster

I am using PCL4 cluster to read history of employee data. The FM modules used are HR_INFOTYPE_LOG_GET_LIST and HR_INFOTYPE_LOG_GET_DETAIL .
Currently it is taking lot of time. Do we have any better methods.

Data retrieval for Sony handycam with 60G harddrive.

Does BestBuy do data retrieval? I have a handycam with work video on it that accidentaly got formated. I know with a standard harddrive you can still retrieve it if there has not been recording since the formatting but I am not sure about camera harddrives. If BestBuy does not do it, does anyone know where it can be done and approximate cost. I live in the New Orleans area.
I may try the same question in computers if nobody knows. Thanks in advance for any guidance at all.

Request for Intelligent Agent separate download

Is it possible to separate sub-components of the RDBMS release? Specifically, I would like to be able to download just the 9.2 Intelligent Agent for various platforms. The full 9i release is far too large! Also, having to move between 3 installation disks during a session with the OUI is "a pain" for installing a single component such as the I/Agent.
May I also suggest, for the same reasons, that some other sub-components such as the Enterprise Manager and HTTP listener be considered for separate downloads from the OTN site.

Oracle intelligent agent failure

Hi,
I am on windows 2000 server running Oracle 9i database and I cannot start the intelligent agent for database 9i it keeps giving the ,message that it is idle therefore was stopped. When I start it in dos it dumps the message belog in its log. I would like to use the OEM to manage my database but can't because the OMS cannot detect my nodes cos the agent is not running. Please assist.

check for the time zone.
In my case it was solved when I was creating a system environment variable named TZ and choosed a valid content, see metalink for timezone problems:
nsupportedtzs.lst
supportedtzs.lst
in the sysman\admin should have a common denominator.

Data retrieval from failed ibook hard drive

my ibook G4's hard drive failed after about 18 months, which is ridiculous in itself. they tell me i have to send it off somewhere for data retrieval.
WHERE is a good place to do this? i need the data.

Have you already removed the HD?
Do you have access to another Mac where you could try Target Disk Mode ? It may be worth a try and shouldn't cost you a thing.
If you are willing to buy some software, Alsoft's DiskWarrior has helped crack some pretty tough looking jobs.
If your drive has not completely failed either one of these may work. Target Disk Mode is worth a try as it won't cost you a thing but time.
Edit: As Ryan M said, in the future backup...backup....backup.....backup.

Can anyone tell me how to start the enterprise manager intelligent agent for an Oracle 8.1.6 database under LINUX?

The command to start the intelligent agent on Linux is ./lsnrctl dbsnmp_start. The should be executed from the $ORACLE_HOME/bin directory.

Intelligent matchmaker agent for annotator

Hi everybody
I wish to develop an intelligent agent which will have functions below:
1. Summarise an user highlighted paragraph/sentence and get the main concept of the paragraph. For the summary, extract main keyword and poss to web to retrieve their synonyms or related words or meaning.
2. retrieve the result and match with user's comment/annotation.
3. if there are no related to the highlighted paragraph/sentence, an error message will promt up and ask the user to correct.improve their comment.
For example: "This article is good"...will be considered as an useless comment.
This seem a little AI project as pc have to "understand" the user's comments and annotation. Anybody know similar project or resource which i can get as guide or reference?

How do you specify a "custom data retrieval program" for a query ?

I may have to rebuild an old SQ01 query in ECC 5.0 to get rid of some hyphens in structure field names.
The query gets its data from a custom retrieval program.
How do I specify the custom retrieval program when (and if) I redo the query?

When you go to SQ02, ente the infoset name and click the change button, then on the next screen, click Go To, Global Properties, notice here is the same dialog when you create the infoset, notice the radibuttons, notice the one for data retreival by program, I think this is what you are looking for, but as you can see here you will not be able to change it. I think you may have to re-create the infoset as well if you want to change this.
