Intelligent crossfading with a click..? it would make itunes perfect

i sometimes get asked to dj in my friend's bar. i take my laptop along with all my music and playlists in itunes. but guess what..? i have to use the dreaded winamp for the job because i can't crossfade from one track to the next BEFORE the first track has ended (if i DO click from one track to the next, there's a nasty click and then a wait while the next track picks up speed - which is not cool).
yes, i know there are expensive programs that enable you to do all sorts of high end dj-ing out there. but if the mac people would just put an intelligent click-activated crossfader in (like this ABSOLUTELY AMAZING free add-on for winamp ---> http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details/32368) itunes would be completely perfect as it is.
have you ever done any dj-ing with itunes..? at a party or a wedding or a bar..? do you therefore know exactly what i mean..? leave a reply below and HOPEFULLY mac will take note of this issue which has been commented on on the net - and dreamed about by users - for about ten years now (though i won't get my hopes up: they're too busy selling phones to be bothered listening to anyone in here).

No, I don't have McAfee installed, but with about:crashes, I was able to see other threads with same crash report and it seems that the Skype AddOn is the problem. After a couple tests, it does seem to work correctly.

What specs would make the perfect MacBook Air for college?

I've decided I'm going to get a MacBook Air for college, but I want to make sure it's the best possible for my four years as an undergraduate so I don't have to get a new one over this time period.
For the processor: how much of a speed difference will there be between the i5 and i7? I'm thinking the i7 will be a better choice, but I really don't know what the difference will be.
For RAM: 4gb should be plenty for four years, right? Right now I have a late 2008 aluminum MacBook with only 2gb of RAM and only recently did I notice it to start getting slow.
Storage: My biggest concern. Will 256gb last me four years? I will be bringing an external hard drive, but I plan on only really using that for Time Machine backups and storage for photos. Should I make the jump to 512gb?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Regrettably, because this an open discussion forum, we're all free to respond to whoever and whenever. It's very possible that the OP may not know the technical differences between the various CPUs and thus would base his purchasing decision on your false information. Imagine his surprise when he's told that his i7 CPU is a dual core and not a quad core.
Seeing you've asked (so eloquently I might add), I'm happy to provide information on the CPUs.
The i5 in the 13" MacBook Air is an i5-3337U, the i7 is an i7-3667U. Both machines when benchmarked against one another in a PassMark CPU test scored as followed:
i5 - 2,652
i7 - 2,841
A difference of 189 points. You're a numbers guy, Kappy. So if real estate property #1 is worth $2,652,000 and real estate property #2 is worth 2,841,000 how much more is that property worth? It's sure not 25%.
My apologies to the OP for the divergent of your topic, but I think it's important when a frequent poster who's opinion is highly regarded but (other) members on here to be corrected when bad information is provided. I know I would expect the same correction if I recommended something incorrectly.

An improvement that would make my life easier

It would be great if the report-this-post form had a collection of check boxes for terms of use violations. Then as I am reading through the forums and come across a post that fits one or all of these criteria:
1. Impolite
2. Off Topic
3. Not Constructive
4. Poll or petition
5. Untested
6. Advertising
I could check off the applicable items and more easily report it.

Make iTunes default Music Player????

I just updated my windows comp. to itunes 6.5 or what ever the newest itunes is. But now when I open up my songs from 'My Music' in my documents, they all have the quicktime icon next to it. i some how think i didnt click on the "make itunes the default player" when i was installing the new itunes. does any one know how i can fix it and make itune the new defualt thing. thanks

Select "Edit", choose "Preferences", click the "Advanced" tab and then select the "General" tab. Lastly put a check mark next to "Use iTunes as the default player for audio files". This should solve your problem.

Just bought a dell pc with windows 8. on my old pc (vista) i would right click a movie (in itunes format) and say open with itunes and it would play. Now it won't open in itunes and it just CRASHES. HELP PLEASE. is there a glitch with win 8???

Okay i bought a dell pc with windows 8 (big mistake) i downloaded itunes and from my external hard drive, right clicked a movie file (in ipad format, because this worked in vista on my old laptop) and it will not go into itunes. Take a look at this MBP, a refurbished unit. Don't let the late 2011 release date put you off. For about $500 less than an equivalent 'new' one with similar specifications you get a quad core CPU and excellent graphics. As Steve359 mentioned, this can be upgraded if the need arises and has the same warranty as a 'new' one
I would not be surprised that these may actually be 'new' MBPs due to the length of time that they have been replaced by the current generation. I purchased a 17" model about 5 weeks ago, and a serial number check suggests that it is 9 weeks old.

With one click, can one upload an entire folder containing at least 7GB of Excel spreadsheet to ICloud and then be able to view them on an Ipad using Numbers. Also, would this cause one to have to pay for over 5GB of space?

Reply: Cor-el > Excellent!! Thank You. In Tools, Add Ons, Extensions there was a Default Tab enntry which was the culprit. Am running W7 so the XP Tools, Options, Advanced , Use Hardware acceleration when available, wasn't of much help here, however I did fix a problem on another computer running XP with that same fix. When check how much memory I am using, with only Safari open I am using 3.9 and more of her 4.0 memory. She is very. very slow in processing. I had 4000
trash to clean out and it took her over an hour to expel. Also for some reason Safari will not allow me to click on a link, in my G-mail, and let it go to the page.
It has a sign saying a pop-up blocker is on and will not let me do it. I must open the stamp to look at my e-mails and if I have redirected link now I can do it.
I have not changed my preferences so where is this pop-up blocker?
I have looked at preferences on Safari and Google, which I do not understand Google, and do not see where this blocker could be.
Malware is something I want to make sure is not on my computer. Tech Tool Pro 6 is all I know of and it does not detect Malware.

The AC100 is an early attempt from Toshiba to create an ARM based netbook (a smartbook) with Nvidia's successful Tegra2 chipset.
Although, the AC100 looks like proper hardware design, it became only
mildly successful. Some of the reasons may have to do with the primary
operating system, Android ([see my earlier article about this|http://soltesza.wordpress.com/2010/06/27/toshiba-a100-smartbook-with-android-but-why/]) but even more can be attributed to the design decisions Toshiba made.
Since these machines are now available in my home country (Hungary)
at quite attractive price points (~$250 USD, some people seem to be
trying to get rid of it soon after purchase) I can't help bumping into

I am a gadget fan, I always have my hand trembling seeing those prices
and I need to cool myself down before doing some impulse-buy I regret

What could make me click on the "Buy" button?
*More memory*
First of all, 1-2GB of RAM instead of the measly 512MB the AC100
hosts. Why the heck tried Toshiba sell a netbook with 512MB of RAM when
ALL of the Atom N450 netbooks seemed to come with 2 GB at that time?
This amount of RAM would allow to slap Ubuntu onto the machine and not
worry about running out of memory when loading up OpenOffice. Ubuntu has
been demonstrated on the AC100 and even looks snappy. (see this [site dedicated to Ubuntu on the AC100|http://tosh-ac100.wetpaint.com/]). Toshiba could easily put 2GB of RAM into the machine without major cost-increase.
*Desktop OS and/or Android*
Putting 1-2GB of RAM into the AC100 would open the gate for using a
proper, netbook-oriented desktop OS which can take advantage of the
form-factor. They should use Ubuntu, since that could be fixed up on
this hardware in no time (especially if they purchase some consultancy
from Canonical).
I don't think that Android needs to stay on the machine but if
Toshiba still thinks it is such a good idea for any user-group, they
could make the AC100 dual-boot, or even better, run both OSes in
parallel (2GB of RAM would make this absolutely possible). Android would
be the light-and-easy OS on the device but the user could any time
switch to a full Ubuntu desktop with an Android launcher icon and start
using OpenOffice or other decent desktop software. The
paravirtualization developed by B-labs would be an [instant solution |http://armdevices.net/2011/04/04/android-virtualization-on-ti-omap4-processors-dual-core-cortex-a9/]for this problem and would future proof the machine for a possible Windows8 scenario later.
*More battery*
The 8 hour runtime of the AC100 is decent enough but more
battery-time is always welcome. The enclosure has a LOT of free/empty
space under the keyboard due to the ultra-compact nature of Tegra2 and
its supporting circuitry. Toshiba should again take advantage of the
form-factor and add one or more extra battery docking bays under the
keyboard which could extend the runtime to 16-24 hours. (Admittedly,
they would make the unit weight much more but since these batteries
would be optional, this decision would be up to the user. A 24-hour
runtime with a 3-battery arrangement would make the AC100 extremely
appealing for a large-set of users. It would be acceptable that the
batteries are charged in series (so the recharge process is lengthier)
so that Toshiba doesn't have to switch to a more expensive power supply.
(Although the power supply issue is probably not a serious cost
factor).
*What else*
Of course, there would be a lot of things to be improved (more USB
ports, higher-resolution display...etc) but I tried to draw up things
which require smaller redesign so that an improved version could be
implemented faster.
I believe the AC100 line could be made really successful and Toshiba should take steps to make this happen.

I buy notebook toshiba ac100 3 weeks before and I suffer major problem...
something happened with my screen , I press the power button and notebook is running /I can tell from turning on play-multimedia button for music and it plays music/ but the screen is not running !
I try many many things, like only on A/C , only on battery , pushing button for switch between screen and ext.monitor , but unfortunately - the screen was still black !
so I connect to flat tv with HDMI cable, and there you go - i have the screen ot the TV , but only there !
my question is this is problem with the screen or something I do wrong ?!

Ubuntu has a book but still coudn't make any sense of it so I gave it to the friend who encouraged me to try the program.He certainly didn't the book but his idea of fairly straightforward was so much different than mine.

Disable (all) functions on the block diagram with right-click menu

Hello to everyone,
here is one more idea, which I'd like to propose.
As for me, it would be useful to have the following: when all components (functions, wires, subVIs, etc.) are selected on the block diagram (like, after ctrl+A), operator could do right-click, and in the menu would appear menu item "Disable everything". After it, all the code could be placed into Disable structure.
Of course, I can add Disable structure to block diagram manually, and cover whatever I want, but with right-click menu it would be much faster.
Also, it can be modified to disable only selected items - then each of them can be placed into separate Disable structure, and, for example, additionaly in the enabled case of Disable structure, corresponding wires will be connected. Sometimes it is needed for testing - just to disable couple functions, and test subVI. Or to disable subVI fully (it's faster, then disable place, where it is called. Especially, if subVI is used in many places).
It will not make debugging difficult, because anyway Disabled structures are used; such functionallity can just make life a little bit easier...

There is always the File->New... which opens up a new window. You can have your templates in that window by putting them somewhere (I don't remember where at the moment).

Text entry box with double-click button - is this possible?

I need to produce a simulation in Captivate 3 where the user types in some text, then double-clicks a button to open another window.
With a normal text entry box the button doesn't seem to have the option to respond to a double click.
I can't add in an extra slide with a click box to simulate the double-click as I have icons that change colour with time on the first slide.
Are there any other ways of getting round this?

Thanks for the suggestion. That would work brilliantly normally, just not on this slide, unfortunately.
The reason for this is I have two hint icons on the screen - 1 shows a basic one then the second is a rollover slidelet with a clip of the correct action being performed. The first is on screen for a few seconds, then the second takes over.
The earliest I would be able to set the second click would be around 8 seconds in, to allow the second hint to appear before the text box pauses the slide. So anyone who immediately knew which area to click would have to click once then wait a while to make the second click.
It's annoying that the problem is of my own making by having the 2 icons, but as I've done this through a series of lessons, I can't really change it now.
I might just go ahead with the single click option (unless there's a double-click in C4? [hoping to get this soon!]) and hope that no-one notices that the screen changes a bit too quickly to really have registered the second click.

I am new to the forum so hello to you all!
I start here with a question that doesn't leave me sleeping during the night.
I am working on a interactive slideshow.
That's all right, ultil now.
Now things becomes blurry for me.
In every page I would like to add a little animal in the lower right angle of the screen so, when u click on this animal, a baloon appears with a wroten sentence inside it.
But, I wanto to make the sentences inside the baloon RANDOMLY different every time u click on the animal (using a selection, for example, of 30 sentences at all), but I don't really know what I have to do in order to realize my idea.
I am not interested to create a preset cycle of sentences, but a random behavior with a click.
any suggestion please?

How I have to write the sentences inside the text editor in order to subdivide the text into first sentence, second sentences and so on? There is a special syntax to follow?
