Interact with widget post publishing of module.....

Hi there,
I was wondering if it was at all possible to click on a word in the module and get taken to that word and explanation in the glossary.
From what I have heard, it is not possible to do this as you cannot interact with the widget post publishing.....if that is correct, then does anyone have any suggestions on how to achieve a similar result?

Yes that would be huge....., the other option I thought of was making a rollover for every particular glossary term (139) but that would still be time consuming...

Module interacting with LMS incorrectly

Can anyone help me with my following issue.
My LMS software requires no intercation from captivate 5 module and only reports on the score.
I have set this in the scorm settings to report scores only and pass/fail etc but when the module is completed the user is recorded is a fail.
The scoring is also recorded in the attempts on how many questions the user has completed instead of how many time the module has been completed (i.e. if there are 5 questions in a module and the users had completed the twice, it shows the user as 10 attempts instead of two).
Any ideas on how to solve this will be very much appreciated as I am sure I have one of the settings set incorrectly.

The LMS software built by a company that we are using for our LMS solutions so I have a meeting tomorrow to find out about there specs.
My scorm settings are as follows;
With regards to finishing the module, how do chaging the settings to close as option to Exit is not availble on the list. I will find out tomorrow with the reqiuements are but it will be very intresting to find.

No Sound on Interactive Keynote Widget?

OBJECTIVE: I am trying to imbed an interactive Keynote Widget into an iBook with short audio clips that play after transitions between slides. The Keynote presentation consists of 8 slides that generally consist of an image, a couple of buttons (shapes with associated links to specific slides), a text box or two, and some have inserted audio .m4a files (less than 5 seconds in length). The audio objects are set to 'start after transition'. The overall presentation is set as a 'Links only' presentation type.
PROBLEM: After testing succesfully in Keynote, I saved the presentation, dragged it into iBooks author, and previewed it in iBooks (running on OSX 10.9.2 Mavericks). The widget works splendidly... except the sound. Audio objects aren't activated by transitions. No sound at all out of the Keynote Widget.
WHAT I'VE TRIED: I have checked that sound is working right on my Mac. In fact, Audio widgets on the next page of the same iBook work fine. I changed the audio files in the keynote presentation with a different one that was already working in my iBook as an audio widget. I have tried putting the keynote presentation into a untouched standard Apple template. No sound at all from the Keynote Widget. I also looked for solutions in online help files, Apple's Developer Forums for iBooks Author, and here in this section of the Apple Support Communities. I only found two similar questions/problems neither with a posted resolution (https://discussions.apple.com/message/22443281#22443281 and https://discussions.apple.com/message/22444086#22444086).
TECH SPECS:
iBooks version 1.0.1
iBooks Author version 2.1.1
Keynote version 6.1
OSX version 10.9.2
Any ideas as to what I am doing wrong? Or is it an inherent limitation in the program? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

That being the case, Apple has stated that recorded narration will not work in the keynote widget (see iBooks Author: About the Keynote widget - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5067).
Self-Playing and Recorded presentations
Self-Playing presentations and Recorded presentations with voiceover narration may not work as expected. Readers will be able to view and manually advance your presentation, but recorded narration and timings won’t be available.
The same article seems to indicate that some audio files should work in the widget, evidently as sound objects.
Keynote files can contain media—such as images, movies, and audio—but don’t use a Keynote file just to add media to your book.
I haven't been able to figure out how to get it to work yet though. If we can figure out how to get sound objects to work you could still put the audio in your widget, just break it up into a seperate sound file for each slide, and advance to next slide on click. Someone would have to figure out how to get the sound objects to play like they should though...
With regard to the other audio files: That is weird that Apple told you to use .m4p format for audio. Their online documentation says to use m4a. The following is an excerpt from iBooks Author: supported file formats - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2838.
Video and audio files: M4V, M4ANote: For the Media widget, you can add a video file or an audio file (in a format QuickTime supports) to your book. You can convert other types of files using iMovie, QuickTime Player, or Compressor. For the HTML widget, the suggested file formats are MP4 video files and M4A audio files.
Either the tech who emailed you saying to use .m4p is mixed up, or their online documentation is wrong.
Please let us know if changing to m4p works for you. That may help others out.

Feedback on new "Interactive Label" Widget

I have mentioned in another thread that I was working on a widget and that I would like to have the community feedback on its usefulness.
So, here it is. I call the widget an "Interactive Label". It's primary use is to identify areas on an image and provide some detailed information about it. When you mouse over the green dot you get a summary but if you click on it, it expands to provide more details. Following is an image of the final product but I have also provided a link to the sample file and to the widget itself so you can try it yourself.
If you try out the widget in your project, you'll see that the widget look & feel can be customized. You can change the background, the border, the corners, the label placement and much more. Just go to the Widget Parameters tab.
Obviously, this is a work in progress and has full of issues that I will fix. However, I wanted to get your opinion to see if it would be a useful widget. I plan to add:
Automatic height resizing based on the size of the description.
Add an "Auto" layout feature that will figure out the best label placement position.
Font selection and Rich Text
Work out the animation effects
Make the widget a complete Interactive Widget so it can transmit success/failure
Have the green dot customizable in term of color and maybe shape. Also have a much nicer look (I'm not a graphic artist!)
Add animation (glowing effects?) on the dot.
Clicking on the dot a second time will collapse the description
Use themes so you don't have to individually sets all the style parameters for all the widgets on the page
Allow the use of captivate variables within the text.
I'm sure I'm forgetting some ...
So, if you can comment on it, it would make my day! Let me know what features you think are important, any priorities? Finally, to be honest, I may eventually charge for the component. What would be a good enough price for you to consider buying it?

I certainly don't mean to ruffle anyone's feathers here, but my mind hasn't really changed. I guess when I posted that reply, my vision was for the comments and testing results to be fed back via a different avenue. Indeed a great job has been done on the widget and I commend anyone capable of producing them. I'm totally in awe of what you, Yves and others are able to accomplish with widgets and I'm envious! I'd love to have that knowledge and capability myself! But at the moment I'm just a Flash doofus.
I just worry about a thread explosion with gobs of suggestions and comments and the forums really aren't the proper venue for ongoing discussion of a product that isn't actually Adobe's. Sure it does assist with extending their product, but I'm pretty sure their intent isn't to host discussion forums for developers.
When I boil it down I see it as follows:
I see it as being perfectly fine to make an initial post and solicit feedback. But have that feeback occur via a different channel. For example, (and just to show I'm actually following my own advice) over in the RoboHelp forums I posted once about a RoboHelp curriculum I was building last year. In the post I encouraged folks to contact me privately if they were interested in beta testing and getting some free training as a result. But all the discussion about it occurred privately.
For one thing, Yves could possibly see someone snatch up the code and pre-empt with their own version of the widget they are charging for.
Anyhoo, those are my thoughts... Rick

Able to interact with a cRIO remote front panel from one computer but not another

I have a cRIO application that publishes a remote front panel for monitoring and control of the application. From one PC (Win7 & firefox) I can see, interact and control the cRIO through the published remote front panel. From a second PC, also Win7, I can see and monitor the cRIO's state, but the remote panel that is opened does not allow for any interaction and this is true whether I'm using IE, FF or Chrome as the browser. When either PC is connected to the cRIO, it is via a dedicated Ethernet link and only the cRIO and the one PC are on that network. For this two-device private network, the PC is always at address 192.168.1.1 while the cRIO always uses 192.168.84.199 (port 8000).
The firewall rules on both PCs are setup to allow all incoming and outgoing programs/ports/protocols to be used between these two IP addresses.
Both PC's have up-to-date LabVIEW development systems installed on them (which more or less guarantees they have the minimum require LV runtime needed to see and use a remote front panel).
What might be different on the PC that view but cannot interact with the remote panel?

As I tried to say in my original post, there was only one host physically connected to the private network at any given time (by virtue of the fact that the one Ethernet cable connection to the private network was being moved back & forth between the two hosts) so there was no way both hosts could be trying to control the cRIO at the same time. I even went so far at one point of restarting the cRIO while it was connected to the problem host to see if would render it functional, but it did not.
But I did not know that it was possible to do what you suggested, much less that there was a right-click context menu associated with a remote panel, so I tried it and it worked! Thank you!

Blurry Photos in Photo gallery and Interactive image widget--(iBooks Author)

The pictures that I put in my photogallery and in my interactive image widget were at first clear and would get bigger when I tapped on them (in preview mode on my iPad), and then all of the sudden, they all are blurry, and now when I tap on them, they don't get bigger/zoom! How do I fix this??

The iBook is about 80 pages, and there is an average of one widget per page, sometimes 2. There are a few galleries in which there are more than one picture, but many of them are simply with one picture (because this is the only way to make it get bigger when you tap on it when on the iPad). For the Interactive Image widgets, I took a screenshot of a google maps route, and then focused on different stops to show directions on my iBook. I just redid all of the photo galleries that were blurry, and they are fixed now (no longer blurry). BUT the interactive images are still blurry....maybe I just need to go back and redo them?

The error message clearly says that "Cost Center validity starts from 01.10.2014" i.e. in the future period.
Change the cost center from period in the past date and try.

Quality is about ongoing support longevity of product.

So try respective the customers you have, it wont be long before theirs a better operating system and your lead in hardware is marginal.

If you have an iPhone or iPad do not update to ISO 7 unless you want an operating system that looks like windows 8. The graphics looks like it was designed by a artistically challenged mongoose and the operating system is not intuitive something apple users expect. Issue with the Posting Date of the Purchase Order.

Hi All,
There are fields in BW like SSL1: Time OK, SSL2: Qty OK, SSL3: Time & Qty Ok, SSL4: Days Late (Routines are written to calculate). These fields will indicate whether the delivery against a GR is OK or not with respect to Time, Quantity and the No. of Days..
But here the issue I am facing is
If there is only1 delivery/ GR against a single item the calculation in BW are correct - i.e. for a particular PO if there is only one delivery the above fields like SSL1: Time Ok, SSL2: Qty OK will show like the delivery is done within the specified time and everything is OK (in case if it is delivered within the allotted time)
But if there are multiple deliveries or multiple GR's posted for one PO item, the calculations are going wrong i.e. even if the delivery is done well within the specified time it is showing the wrong calculations like it is delievered too late. Because in this case the earlier dates are overwritten.
Can anyone throw me some light on how can I go about solving this issue.
I am thinking of declaring the Posting Date as the KeyField of the DSO as of now it is a Data field I also want to know the impact of assigning this as a Keyfield.

Hi,
As I understand, you have a DSO based on Purchase Order and your key field is PO and its line item. The problem as you stated will always be there if you have multiple deliveries/GRs created for a single line item because the system will overwrite the entries for same key.
Problem with adding Posting date as keyfield will be that then your key will be PO-PO Lineitem-Date. When PO will be created, the Posting date will be blank(correct me here if I am wrong), therefore you will have one entry for same PO-line item combination. One without date and other with date, which again would be incorrect. If my assumption about Posting date was wrong, even then your data may not be correct because then you may have many entries with same posting date which again would overwrite each other.
If there is any direct link between PO line item and number of deliveries that will get created for them, then you can bring that field in DSO as keyfield. But I don't think there is any such field.
Looking at your report requirement, I would suggest that you make a DSO based on Goods Receipts and then calculate these keyfigures by comparing the dates between GR posting date and PO line item date.
Else you can change the way your datasource works(if its generic one based on function module). Since your main requirement is to check whether the GR posting date has met your SLA or not, you should fetch all the details only when GR is created and make your key field as PO-PO Line item-GR

Do migrated forms still interact with EBS database?

Once you have completed a EBS forms conversion into APEX, are you able to have the new APEX applications forms read/write from the EBS database?
For instance ,say your wanting to take currently used forms XYZ out of EBS and put them into APEX so you can create a better UI and such for them or just give the users better use of the data. Can the EBS users then use those forms rather then the EBS ones to do their same day to day functions?
I'm just not seeing anything regarding how the APEX forms would interact with the EBS data tables, but i could be overlooking something.
A simple Yes/No would be great, a yes w/ some pointers or tags to documentation would get ya some bonus points!

A good example could be a custom form for some module that you built using Oracle Forms for the 11i stack. Maybe it maintains data in a custom table that you use for reporting or extension purposes.
You know that although R12 supports Forms in the techs tack, its going to be de-supported in the future in favor of ADF/Fusion/Next Java technology. You don't have a lot of java experience in your shop and want to retain the pl/sql developers you have, so you decide you will use Apex for your custom form development from now on instead of forms or OAF.
Apex is really no different than any other framework (no matter what anyone will lead you to believe). Its great for interactive applications, forms, read-only..etc. So if you can do it in java, you can do it in Apex. I completely agree that you absolutely do not want to modify the EBS forms in any way - in fact by doing so you are pretty much de-supporting yourself as support won't touch anything that didnt come from Oracle directly.

How can I interact with a Database?

I've got a project I'm working on in my Java class, and I can't find out how to make the program interact with a database. I was wondering if anybody here could help me out at all? My partners and I have already gotten most of the program figured out (but not programmed), and this is giving us a little bit of trouble. Our books don't have this information, and our teacher told us to check here, so here I am. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

You need to get a jdbc driver for your database. Your vendor should provide you with one. If not then you can try looking for free implementations of that particular database.
This jdbc driver is used by your program to execute sql statements in the database itself, removing the need for you to handle all the nitty gritty stuff. Kind of like ODBC.
Like the earlier post pointed out, the tutorials is a good place to look at code samples
