Interaction on Windows 8//content preview

Hi,
we would like to create an applikation that runs on Windows 8, on a Sony Vaio tap 20.
For this we already prototyped in Indesign, including panorama, buttons, links, pan and tilt and in generally all interactive elements.
Is there a way to export for Windows 8? either as an App (Adobe announced in July) or in worth case as a swf or html5 (but will these be able to include all interactive elements), or even pdf?
second: how can I preview my applikation on mac? the adobe content viewer did not interacted well. For example the pan and tillt did not work.
many thanks,
Kitz

There is a beta version of the Adobe Content Viewer available in the Windows
Store but it is Windows 8.1 only and is clearly a beta viewer. Many overlay
features are not yet supported.
If indeed this is a DPS issue please post follow up inquires in the DPS
forum. If it's not about DPS you're going to need to clarify what you're
doing.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Notebook on Windows 8 Release Preview

Recently started using Windows 8 Release Preview as my main OS (gotta get up to speed for when it's released). While the Audigy was detected by Windows and installed some default drivers, they were of course basic. Installed daniel_k's Audigy Support Pack 4.0 and generally it works, but am missing the CMSS2 and Stereo Surround options, and the CMSS option (while there) doesn't do anything. 5.1/7.1 output works fine when the source / app provides such content but as I'm using Spotify for 99% of my music, I'm stuck with Stereo output only. I know CMSS is just a bit of a gimmick, but I do like filling my room a bit more + my sub is just idle too.
Anyone had better luck with this card/OS combo? I've a desktop with a PCI Audigy 2 ZS that I'm considering upgrading from Win7 to Win8 to see if that's works any better.
I'd like to be able to have a hack around with drivers etc to see if there's something that can be done to get missing settings going, or maybe it's just never going to work without updated drivers with the newer audio system in Win8. Not really sure where to start though - there appears to be so many driver/component files involved in running the sound card!
Alternatively, I'd like to find a way to force any application to upmix to multi-channel, of course without actually changing the application. Programs like XBMC, Media Player Classic, Winamp have options / plugins to do this.
    All idea/thoughts/comments welcomed!

I have moved to Lync 13 client and the same behavior is displayed.
Lync client crashes when connecting audio or receiving files.
Windows 8 was a clean build again with the Lync client installed.
This is making Lync unusable on Windows 8
Only info I get in the Event Viewer isthe bleow which isn't much help.
The program lync.exe version 15.0.4128.1019 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

  • Windows 8 Consumer Preview: AMD Switchable Graphics - Unswitchable

    Hello everyone,
I have a HP Pavillion dv6-6004tx notebook computer, and I recently upgraded it to the Windows 8 Consumer Preview (Build 8250). I would like some troubleshooting from those who have/are experiencing this and may have found a way around it.
As far as the specs of my computer goes:
    Intel Core i7-2720QM
    6 GB DDR3 RAM
    64-Bit OS
    AMD Radeon HD 6700M
    Intel Graphics Family
The problem lies within my display drivers. Some of you may also have a Switchable Graphics feature installed in your computers. But for those who don't, basically what it is is a feature that allows one to switch their display adaptor from a Power-Saving GPU to a High-Performance GPU, and vice versa.
In my case, as you can see above, the High-Performance GPU is the Radeon 6700M, while the Power-saving GPU is the integrated Intel one. My problem deals with not being able to switch back and forth between them, like I was able to back on Windows 7. As this is a feature of AMD Catalyst Control Center, I have searched their website and they actually have a supported driver version for Windows 8 CP, albeit it still being a beta and sometimes glitchy.
    http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/Windows8ConsumerPreviewDrivers.aspx
(As you can see, my model: AMD Radeon HD 6000M Series is listed)
After installing the Control Center, I restarted and a pop-up notifcation tells me that:
"The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by the driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your AMD graphics driver, or enable your AMD adapter using the Displays Manager."
I found this odd at first, as my model clearly was listed. But after some inferencing, I realized that my computer must be running on the integrated Intel graphics by default. This was further reinforced when I tried playing some games and other applications (It would be slightly choppy - as experienced before when I had forgotten to switch back onto High-Performance GPU).
The AMD Radeon card used to have an error (The device won't start. Code: 10) under device manager, but with a fresh install of the driver obtained from AMD, it seems to be working fine. However, my computer is still using the Intel card by default, and I have no way of switching to the other GPU as Catalyst will not start.
Has anyone found a way around this?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I'll give you a two way to make it work!!!!  There is so much incompatibilities with the FIRST METHOD listed, you won't get use a Intel (less power consuming card) GPU to work after the changes! you've got to wait till HP let's it work properly or deal with power hungry AMD GPU even in battery mode .
THE SECOND METHOD listed works without any problem with compatibility in any apps BUT IT IS Require pace and order ( may be exhaustive  for newbie's, no worries listed below got all the info you need to make it work)
    SO the first option:
NOTE:THIS WILL TRIGER THE OUTCONTROL EVENTS SO PRECAUTION METHODS I WILL ADVISE FURTHER AS WE GO STEP BY STEP _ DOWNLOAD CHROME IF YOU RUNNING INTERNET EXPLORER ( GRAPHIC CARD WILL WORK WITH GAMES BUT NOT WITH METRO APPS THEY WILL NOT CRASH JUST NOT LAUNCH
ALL THE METHODS BELOW TESTED BY MYSELF AND GET WORKED YET MANY INCOMPATIBILIES STILL WILL REMAIN USE IT ON YOUR OWN RISK!
as i can tell all the games working properly yet battlefield 3 won't launch
    1.      AT first make sure that windows UPDATE IS SWITCH OFF or let you choose to download and instal (not automaticly or it will update ur device (at device manager) without ur permision and all eforts are gone!
2.uninstall AMD Catalyst from "program and components" at control panel, then uninstal all the devices Intel and AMD at device manager at the control panel  (check unistal driver at intel HD driver)
3.reboot! after reboot download this http://www2.ati.com/drivers/hotfix/win8/amd_catalyst_win8_consumer_preview_[rc10].exe
    and this
    ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp53001-53500/sp53025.exe       -      300mb
    4. instal sp53025.exe at windows 7 compatibility mode (it'll unpack by default in C:/SWsetup)
then start the istalation make sure u choose a "custom" , THIS IS CRUCIAL - uncheck the CATALYST (check all the rest intell driver amd driver ect.) after the instalation do not reboot
    5.      Next start the instalation of the windows 8 consumer preview driver from AMD.
uncheck all the rest ( after the sp53025 there will be only AMD driver (check/uncheck) and the catalyst (check/uncheck) box available) uncheck the AMD driver and install only the CATALYST driver!!!!
Reboot! Enjoy !!! There will be no CATALYST(only the intel preference and settings where the CATALYST should've be) at the right mouse click but switchable graphic is now awailable LIKE THIS
Unfortunately you'll won't be available to choose between the INTEL and AMD ! AMD is now working by default
All the .exe will now recognize 6770m
AND METRO APPS WON"T WORK!!!!!!! AS internet explorer will crash as you'll open it
SECOND METHOD IF THE FIRST FAILS (WHICH IS IMPOSSIBLE IF HANDS ARE STRAIGHT MORE OR LESS)
    FURTHER IS TESTED!
THIS METHOD EXCLUDE THE METRO APPS CRASH AND ALL THE REST INCOMPATIBILITIES WITH EVERY EXECUTABLE PROGRAMS AND GAMES!!!!
Note: Requires knowledge to sign your own drivers, disable signing enforcement at boot and modding some inf files.
I am not responsible for any damage that may arise. This guide is not exhaustive.
    Requirements:
.NET Framework 3.5 -- Can be enabled within Windows 8, in "Turn Windows features on or off"
Windows Driver Kit (WDK) -- Can be downloaded from here
Configure Windows Update to only "Download updates but let me choose wether to install them", and hide both Intel and AMD updates. This is to prevent our driver be updated by Windows.
1.Download the latest switchable graphics drivers from this site: leshcat blog IT Tips & Tricks: Catalyst 12.3 Pre-WHQL UnifL for Switchable Graphics
    2. Run the installer that will extract the contents of the file, by default it will ask you to disable "Signing enforcement of Windows", you will know that it is working after rebooting because a "Test Mode" watermark is added to the desktop, above "Windows 8 Consumer Preview".
    3. At this moment, do not run the AMD installer yet. We need to modify some files. By default, the driver will be extracted to "C:\Drivers\Catalyst 12.3 Pre-WHQL UnifL".
    4. Go to this directory, and open the following file "Packages\Drivers\Display\W76A_INF\C7133662.inf"
    Do the following changes:
    In the section [Version] add:
    Code:
    [Version]
    CatalogFile=C7133662.CAT
There is a section that has the listing of all the supported cards. Rename it from "[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.1]" to "[ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.2]"
    It should look like this:
    Code:
    [Manufacturer]
    %ATI% = ATI.Mfg, NTamd64.6.1, NTamd64.6.2
    [ATI.Mfg.NTamd64.6.2]
    "%AMD68F2.1%" = ati2mtag_VancouverC_PXAI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_68F2
    "%AMD9519.1%" = ati2mtag_VancouverC_PXAI, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9519
    5. Follow this guide to Test-Sign a Driver Package. (This guide is generic)
    6. After the previous step, you should have a Catalog file and the inf file we modified previously.
    7. Now proceed to run the AMD installer in "Win 7" Compatibility Mode. It is most likely that the driver install will fail at this stage, but the rest of Catalyst software will be installed.
    8. Now install the driver using the "Have disk" method in device manager and your modified INF for both Intel and AMD cards.
9.If you did the test-signing process correctly, the installation will succeed for both cards.
    10. Reboot and enjoy your switchable graphics under Win 8.
I still have to figure out how to make brightness controls to work.
BTW sorry for any grammar mistake, I am not a native English speaker.
    Known issues:
    - Sometimes switching may not work, resulting in BSOD.
    - When AMD gpu is active, Intel driver context menu options are still available.
    Features:
AMD gpu can be turned off, so battery will last longer.

Hi everyone from the Build 2015 conference happening right now in San Francisco! If you haven’t already, check out Terry’s blog post about all the Windows 10 announcements we made today. If you’re at Build this week or at Ignite in Chicago next week – keep your eye out for me and say hello!
Today we have a new build available to both the Fast and Slow ring for Windows Insiders (that means we’ll have ISOs available too for those of you who like a clean install.) With this build we continue to evolve the features and design for Windows 10, and you’ll see a lot of subtle changes and improvements, many of which were influenced directly by Windows Insiders. One of those changes is the reintroduction of some Aero Glass elements in the UI, but there are many more things throughout the product as well. We continue to use your feedback directly day to day in how our feature teams operate, and we hope that Windows 10 will be the best version of Windows yet because you had a direct hand in its creation.
One other subtle change that you’ll notice is that we’ve changed how we talk about the builds from “Technical Preview” to “Insider Preview” to reflect the importance of the Windows Insider community in how we’re building Windows 10.
And speaking of Windows Insiders, we were super excited to host the 10 winners of our Windows Insiders to Campus contest in Redmond last week and hear their thoughts on the program and the product. We’ll share more on that soon.
Here is what’s newSome of the things that Joe demoed on stage earlier today during the Build keynote are not yet included in this build and will be in future builds. But we still have a bunch of new stuff for you to check out!
General UX improvements: We made a bunch of UX improvements with the last build and you’ll see even more in this build. For example, you’ll notice a new Live Tile animation for Start in addition to in addition to some performance and stability improvements for Live Tiles.
We’ve done work to better support high DPI displays. And we know many Windows Insiders are running multi-mon setups – often with 2 monitors with different DPI. You will start to see some work we’re doing to make sure core UX components in Windows scale correctly on both your monitors so things look nice regardless of DPI.
We’ve also heard loud in clear that many Windows Insiders want to see Aero Glass from Windows 7 make a comeback. We’ve been working out how to satisfy this request, and are trying some things out with this build to see how you like them. We’re running a little A/B test with this build. 50% of you will normal transparency on the Start menu and taskbar while the other 50% will see a blur effect on the Start menu and taskbar (like frosted glass). If Windows Insiders really like the blur effect, we will add it to more areas and even consider making it the default instead of standard transparency. Which one did you get? Send us feedback about it via the Windows Feedback app!
Even more improvements to Continuum: We’re continuing to make Continuum better and invest in a simplified taskbar. Additionally when you close an application in Tablet mode, we take you back to the Start screen instead of the desktop as you would expect when using a tablet. You will see general polish on snapping, and the shared divider between two snapped windows now let’s you adjust the size.
Multi-tasking improvements: We’re continuing to refine and complete our mulit-tasking experience with Windows 10. Check out Alt-Tab, Task-View, and Snap Assist. Snap Assist also now supports the ability to close a window during Snap Assist.
New default Windows sounds: We’ve heard a lot of feedback from people that they want some fresh system sounds for Windows 10. Check them out and let us know what you think.
Visual refresh for Cortana: You will see a visual refresh for Cortana in this build that makes the experience feel more ingrained into the overall Windows experience. Start and Cortana are now more tightly integrated. As you start to search for an app from within Start, Cortana can seamlessly take over and bring back the right result. The new Windows split view control has been added to Cortana’s left rail, offering quick access to key Cortana functionality like the Notebook, Reminders or Feedback on how Cortana’s doing. This split view control helps anchor Cortana to the rest of the Windows UI and provides navigation consistent with many other Windows first party applications.
New experiences in Cortana: We are making available some new and updated experiences in Cortana powered by Bing Instant Answers. Cortana will aim to answer your question while you’re still typing. Here are a few questions you can try:
    Weather – “Seattle Weather”
    Finance – “MSFT stock”
    Dictionary – “define astounding”
    Calculator – “48*92”
    Flight Status – “UA 238”
Reference – “how tall is brad pitt”
    Showtimes – “movies near me”
Tech Help – “memory in my computer”
Time Zone – “time in London”
Unit Conversion – “42 ft in meters”
Chit Chat – “tell me a joke”
Updates for the Music and Video Preview apps: We’ve also shipped updates to these apps. The Music Preview app (3.6.999.0) has some UX improvements including a more immersive Now Playing experience with a true full screen mode. With the Video Preview app (3.6.999.0) – you can download movies, TV shows, and TV seasons and check progress, pause, resume, cancel the download. You can also download, delete, and even re-download videos as many times as you want on up to three devices (we’re planning to increase the number of devices you can download content too!). Closed captioning for purchased content now appears. You will see a list of new features when you first launch these app after each update!
Xbox app April 2015 update: The Xbox app for Windows 10 has been updated (your version number should be 4.4.9014.0 or higher) with new features like Game DVR for PC games, screenshots, a Live Tile, user profiles, and real-name sharing. Oh and the drivers for Xbox controllers are now included with Windows 10, so you no longer have to download and install controller drivers on Windows 10. For more on this month’s Xbox app for Windows 10 update as well as the new Avatars app – read this blog post.
Windows Store Beta improvements: We’re excited about delivering a single unified Store experience in Windows 10 which we’re talking more about this week at Build. We’ve made some improvements to the Store Beta which is now a blue tile instead of grey. Xbox Live games should be working and so are in-app purchases. Apps you purchased on a PC running Windows 8.1 will now show up in the Store Beta on Windows 10 as owned (and vice-versa). We’re also expanding the Store Beta from 41 markets with the addition of these new markets: Afghanistan, Åland Islands, Albania, Algeria, American Samoa, Andorra, Angola, Anguilla, Antarctica, Antigua and Barbuda, Armenia, Aruba, Azerbaijan, The Bahamas, Bangladesh, Barbados, Belize, Benin, Bermuda, Bahrain, Bhutan, Bolivia, Bonaire, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Botswana, Bouvet Island, Cyprus, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Georgia, Ghana, Guatemala, Iceland, Iraq, Kazakhstan, Malta, Pakistan, Qatar, Sri Lanka, Jordan, Lebanon, Nicaragua, Oman, Panama, Puerto Rico, Paraguay, Trinidad and Tobago, Uganda, Venezuela.
Discovering features and apps in Windows 10: We are investing in easy “bite-sized” learning and discovery experiences so that users can get more out of Windows 10. This ranges from tips and tricks on the Lock screen, to helping users discover high quality apps through Start, the Lock screen and Cortana. Be confident that you won’t miss out on new features and enjoy the ease of having high quality apps curated for you. It’s optional, and if anything doesn’t strike your fancy, you can provide feedback directly, such as whether you like an image or an app. These new experiences will be rolling out over time, so you may not see them in your market yet.
Here are some things we fixed
You can now launch Win32 (desktop) apps from the Start menu again. Sorry about this bug!
You should be able to download music in the Xbox Music and Music Preview apps.
When you minimize an app playing audio, it should continue playing in the background.
    Here are some known issues
Developers cannot enable Developer Mode in the Settings app for installing and testing apps on this build. We’ll enable this in an upcoming build. In the meantime, you will need enable your device for development using the Group Policy Editor.
There is an issue in this build preventing some games from playing in full screen mode. We’re working to get a fix out via WU as soon as possible.
The People app continues to crash. We’re planning to release an update for the People app through the Store Beta that fixes this.
We hope you’ll agree that 10074 has some nice improvements and is another step forward towards delivering a great Windows 10 release. Please put it through the paces and keep sending us feedback on the things that you like and the things you want us to keep working on using the Windows Feedback app. I hope that you’ll also download the development tools released at Build and will build some terrific Universal Windows apps as well!
    Thanks,

  • Movies flash problem - Internet Explorer 11 (Windows 8.1 Preview)

    Hi.
I've got a problem with a flash content in IE v. 11 on Windows 8.1 preview. I'm unable to watch any movies requires flash (ex. movies on starwars.com or the movie on the Adobe test page) neither on Metro mode nor desktop mode. Hope u'll help me find solution.
    Regards,
    Simon.
Edit: Ok, nvm. I found out what I have been doing wrong - I had got disabled shockwave add-on in IE options. Thanks anyway.

    Hi,
Besides that, please also try to reset your Internet Explorer to check if it helps:
1.Close all Internet Explorer windows that are currently open.
2.Open the desktop, and then tap or click the Internet Explorer icon on the taskbar. Changing your settings will affect both Internet Explorer and Internet Explorer for the desktop.
3.Tap or click the Tools button, and then tap or click Internet options.
4.Tap or Click the Advanced tab, and then tap or click Reset.
5.In the Reset Internet Explorer Settings dialog box, tap or click Reset.
6.When Internet Explorer finishes applying default settings, tap or click Close, and then tap or click OK. You'll need to restart your PC for these changes to take effect.

  • Windows 8 Consumer Preview driver compatibility with HP Slate 2

Having big issues with Multitouch driver support and image rendering on my HP Slate 2, after installing Windows 8 Consumer Preview.
I've installed windows 8 consumer preview on my Elitebook 2740p and it works, like it was meant to run windows 8, great experience but, i tried the get it even better by installing it on my HP Slate 2, and to my disappointment, driver support for the Multitouch interface is giving me a hard time.
From scratch without any drivers, windows 8 was able to support the touch and pen interface, and i could touch and use the pen on the screen, but multitouch was not working, so i decided to install all windows 7 drivers, just like i did on the Elitebook, all drivers where installed correctly except for 2, Display card and Multitouch support.
The display driver is creating ghost images of previews windows and the Multitouch does not work, i can't pinch to zoom anywhere on the screen, or use any multitouch combinations, strange enough, after restoring the original Operating System (Windows 7), the multitouch worked, but then as soon as i upgrade it to windows 8, it stops working.
Is there a driver in the works, beta or anything, i'd really love to be able to use my HP Slate 2, running windows 8 consumer preview, that would make it a great Windows 8 tablet PC, by HP, and it would save my investment on the HP Slate 2.
    Any ideas?

    > Any luck on finding those drivers, or getting the Win 7 ones to work?
I think this thread started before  N-trig  finally came out with new drivers to help support W8...
    http://www.n-trig.com/Content.aspx?Page=Windows8
FWIW  in my case,  TouchSmart tx2,  my problem was not multi touch but Tap.   I had to use my pen to "click".   The new  DuoSense  driver has fixed that problem and allowed me to keep using Multitouch too.

  • Windows 10 Technical Preview: Windows Defender

    Hi,
I have recently come into an issue with the Windows 10 Technical Preview
I have Disabled Windows Defender through the program and i now want to turn it back on.
When I go to the control panel and press turn on now it does nothing. I have checked the registry and the values DisableAntiSpyware and DisableAntiVirus are set to 1 when I try to change these values to 0 it prompts me with: Error writing Value's new contents.
I have tried this on 13 computers and the problem is there
The version for these computers was 9860 through 9879
I believe this to be a Windows error
    Thank you,
    Microsoft Guru

I briefly had the same (or similar) issue. On the "Home" tab of the Defender interface, the "Turn On" button refused to work, citing the error about the Defender service being off (but both were, in fact, on.)  The "fix"
was easy enough, though...instead of from the Home tab, I went to the "Settings'' tab and from there simply checked the box and hit "OK/Apply"...and bingo...the problem disappeared and Defender successfully restarted.
IMO, it's a UI bug in Defender--a small one that I would never have noticed at all except that I turned Defender off to correctly apply build 9860 (as it would fail to install otherwise), and discovered the bug upon my attempts to restart Defender after
9860 installed.  9879 installed, however, without my having to first deactivate Defender's real-time (actually, I forgot about it...;))
That was the very first time I've had to turn off Defender's real-time in order to successfully install a program...but Win10 is a beta, and so such things are par for the course.  What counts is not that they happen, but rather that we resolve them,
    eh?...;)

  • Region content preview ?

Yes, i'm busy for a new poster, but i just wanted to ask if this was possible.
Ive been using Logic for many years but never been able to find out how to change the region contents preview from notation to piano roll, so that my midi regions show a piano roll style preview instead of the regular musical notation, when in the arrange window.
Ive been told on here that this is possible, but i'm pretty sure it's not.
    Please help.

    X-man,
I see... Well, there is no option that controls the behavior of what's displayed. The behavior is to show notes when the zoom level is sufficient to display that. If you're zoomed out far enough you see nothing.
Would be a nice option to have tho.

  • Windows 8 Release Preview on Mac Mini mid 2011

I was wondering if its possible to install Windows 8 Release Preview on a Mac Mini mid 2011 via Bootcamp (Mainly for gaming purposes)

I've finally got it installed on my HP Touchsmart 610-1000t (or whatever the number is).....
    Apparently it's a graphics card/driver issue.
I downloaded the enterprise final release and it did the same thing to me (black screen etc etc).
In the end, I highly doubt some of these models are compatible with windows 8 if the final release is giving me the same problem.  The only difference is- now the sleep button worked, so I fiddled around with it until I got it fully installed (user created).  After doing so, I booted into Safe mode and disabled the graphics driver/restarted and it booted up fine/works fine.  Every now and then it crashes on IE10.  I wasn't able to test the touch capabilities during the releases between developer and final, so it wasn't until now I can finally test the functionarlity of ALL the gesture functionality.  I can say, the combination of the touch screen desktop and short cut keys makes everything so much quicker and easier.  I perfer windows 8 over windows 7 on my touchscreen, finally the touchscreen experience is much better! Of course I still use my keyboard and mouse.  The touch pinning/swiping is awesome.  I can't say the same for normal desktops in a corporate environment (without touchscreens).....I can say however- windows 8 tablets would be really nice in place of my Ipad or my laptop that I carry around from meeting to meeting, thus the reason I'm waiting for the Surface!  CItrix and apps can only take you so far.

  • Welcome to the HP Windows 8 Release Preview

Welcome to the HP Windows® 8 Release Preview
Welcome to the HP Windows® 8 Release Preview discussion board. This board has been set up for consumers to discuss Windows® 8 Release Preview as it relates to their HP products.
Windows® 8 is the new operating system from Microsoft®, following the introduction of Windows 7 in 2009.
HP is working closely with Microsoft on the release of Windows 8 to bring new and exciting innovations to market for consumers and businesses alike, including devices that will build upon Windows 8. HP engineers are performing extensive testing of Windows 8 on current and recently introduced HP PCs and printers to confirm compatibility with HP products and to create any needed drivers or other materials.
    As a friendly reminder:
HP does not support Windows® 8 Release Preview. Please visit www.microsoft.com regarding support for these versions.
This board has been set up to facilitate discussion of the Windows® 8 Release Preview versions. When the official operating system is released, we will archive this board and allow the discussion to migrate to the normal fully supported OS discussion boards within the Notebook PC, Desktop PC and Printing and All and One categories of the forum.

OK, just tested this on my HP Touchsmart 520-1030 with Windows 8 Pro RTM and got the driver to install using the following steps...
    1. Download the "NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen Driver" from here
    2. Run the sp54627.exe driver download package (but don't select "Proceed with the update?" when prompted)
    3. Go to the temp extract folder location (e.g. under c:\users\username\appdat\local\temp\xxxxx.tmp)
    4. Go to the "src" folder, right click on "NextWindowInstall.inf", and select install
    6. Go forth and touch away on Windows 8

  • Photoshop CS gives me an error under Windows 8 Release Preview

I'm getting an error when I try to update Photoshop CS. I'm using Windows 8 Release Preview. As soon as AAM starts, it gives me an unspecified error.
I have follwed all the advice given above. Nothing seems to fix it.
    Pieter.

Yes ok so apparently you are attempting to utilize Photoshop CS6 then?  At present we have not released a specific update for Photoshop itself.  You can locate the product update page itself at http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/.  You can then select the product you are looking to update from there.
It should be noted that Windows 8 Release Preview is still a preview/beta of Windows 8.  I can not guaranttee that CS6 at the moment will perform correctly in this environment.  I have seen a couple users who have been successful however.  They all were initially running into a variety of different difficulties.

  • How can I remove the recent pages which appear in the windows 7 screen preview

by the windows 7 screen preview I mean the little preview screen who popup when I right-click the Firefox buttom in the Windows task bar.
I do not ask about the browser History from the browser menu.
    Thank you,
    Pascal

You can disable the Taskbar preview by setting the pref <b>browser.taskbar.previews.enable</b> to false on the about:config page.
To open the <i>about:config</i> page, type <b>about:config</b> in the location (address) bar and press the "<i>Enter</i>" key, just like you type the url of a website to open a website.<br />
If you see a warning then you can confirm that you want to access that page.<br />

  • "view content preview in thumbnails" option is not available in view settings for "finder" for one user

"view content preview in thumbnails" option is not available in view settings for "finder" for one user

I hope this discussion can be revived. I have the same problem. There seem to be quite a few Japanese sites that don't bother specifying their encoding. Perhaps they are older and from a time when it was not necessary to adhere to standards. Examples: http://www1.plala.or.jp/CUE/cave_yozawa.html, http://chigaku.web.fc2.com/saitama/sanchi/youzawa/youzawa.html. Happy to upload screenshots, but how?
Is there a way to tell Safari what encoding to use if the web page fails to do that?
