Interactive Animation

Hi
I'm hoping someone can give me some pointers on creating an interactive animation in Dreamweaver CS5.
To help explain I created this animated gif:  http://www.matthewhawker.com/
What I would like to do is 'on mouse over' each book to pop out and 'on mouse down' link to another page.
Is this possible or should I use Flash?
Thanks in advance.

  • Can Adobe Flash interactive animations be embedded into DPS indesign?

    Hi...

    Thanks

    No.

  • How do I create a slide/push interaction/animation?

There's an interaction/animation I want to create, but I don't know how (or if FC currently supports it).
For example, let's say I have a custom component that consists of a rectangle with some text in it. Below it are a "back" and a "next" button. When I click the "next" button, I want to create the effect of a second rectangle sliding in from the right and pushing the first rectangle off to the left, like when you move between home screens on an iPhone. It seems you'd need to set the right and left boundaries, like the scrollable content of a scroll panel. How could I create this effect in FC?
    Thanks for your help

    Hi Scott,
You can do this using an action sequence. You'll need to create an interaction to start the action sequence (e.g. "on application start" or "on button click"). In the interaction editor and change "Play Transition to State" to "Play Action Sequence". When you hit OK, Catalyst will open the Timelines panel to the new action sequence. You can now sequence a bunch of arbitrary events in time. To create a slideshow, make your slides the states of a custom component, and create "set component state" actions when you want to change slides.

  • Using Director to create an interactive animated comic? Advice to know if Director is the right tool

Hi all, I am looking for advice regarding interactive animated comics.I am creating animated comic sequences using After Effect,
but I would like to introduce an extra layer by adding interactivity in the mix (branching story for example).
I believe Director can do that, but I want to be sure it is the right software before I start digging in too much.
My main question is about portability (standalone, web and IOS/Android) and to have a pipeline which is futur proof. Is Director really going to move on and survive the next few years? Is Adobe Edge (still in beta) not going to take it's place? How versatile is Director to export for different platform?
Thank you in advance for your help!

  • Interactive animations

Hy!! Im using Director on Mac OS X 10.3.9 and Im having
problems with the library interactive animations. If I start a new
project and just drop a shape on the canvas and add the animation
it works. But when the project gets a bit larger they wont work
anymore. I tried them on .jpg, .png, on text... and they simply
    wont work.
    can anybody help me?
    THANX !!!

There seems to be this perception among Captivate developers that because a lot of widgets out there are free, and others are only 20 or 30 dollars, that widgets must be quite simple little bits of software and take only minutes to knock up.  People are also under the mistaken impression that widget developers charging for their creations are raking in a fortune.
Neither of these ideas is true.
Lilybiri is correct.  When you build a widget, you have to keep RE-building it each time a new Captivate version comes out because the architectural changes keep breaking your widgets.  The more widgets you've created, the more headaches you have with every version upgrade.  And now that Adobe is putting out a new major version every year, with update versions every few months, and the CP Subscription versions are slightly different to the others...well that just gives me migraines thinking about it.  And although I've helped hundreds of clients fix issues with projects containing our widgets, even though the issue was NOT a bug in the widget, I've NEVER had one offer to pay me for my time.
The reality of this 'widget business' is that I can earn literally 5 times more money building courses for clients than I can building widgets for course developers.  That's why there aren't more widgets in the world.

  • Using interactive animation with Version 7.1

I have a MATRIXx superblock that I would like to animate and test. I viewed the block using System build which came with MATRIXx 7.1 running on Windows. I added input and output ICONS from the animation pallette and I saved the block along with inputs and outputs to an RTF file in c:\Temp. When I used version 5 of MATRIXx, I recalled being able to load an RTF file into ISIM and simulating it. I noticed there is an animation builder that is provided along with xmath so I selected that and the standard Interactive Animation window came up. I selected RTF file and tried to load the file but it said that "Error reading system build RTF file". Is there an incompatibility somewhere. When I saved the file, i made sure just to save the superblocks and nothing else. Am I not saving things properly. Appreciate some help on this. Thanks! The RTF file is provided as an attachment.

    Hi Pavan,
I could open it in build 3518 (newest build is 3718). Just go to File, Open.. and choose the pull-down to filter for RTFs. I got one continuous and one discreet SB. Is that correct?

  • INTERACTIVE animations problems

I have a page with several animations.  The animations seem to work fine at first until I add another animation and I'm wondering if this has something to do with the layers in my document?
Please let me know if you can help.  I have uploaded the document in question to http://anyonecanservemo.org/AnyoneCanServe/guardianshipA.aspx
The pages I am having problems with are mainly 3 and 4.
I can also email you the file.

Also, on page 17 -- when someone clicks on the BLUE BOX that says "Limited Guardianship," it is supposed to bring up that red check in the box and then display the correct answer.  This is what I've been trying to do on all of these pages.... but as soon as i lay out the "answer choices" (buttons) and the checkbox (object states) and then add the "right answers" (animations - appear or fade in) , it stops working.
    Please advise!

  • On designing and interactive animations

i need to know how to make those animations where you slide your finger across the screen, like a timeline and the entire image changes. second, please someone tell me about, how to make an image with key points, like, when i click on the key animal body, it reflects on other images. kindly help.

    anupkohle,
These are difficult illusions to create on Keynote since Keynote doesn't support hyperlinking objects on the same slide. That said, a close approximation to what you want can be created in Keynote using multiple slides and hyperlink objects to slides and, perhaps, assigning a nice transition to the slides.
The key here is to have each slide have the elements in the same place so no motion is seen - things appear when something else is clicked. The basic way to do this is to:
    1. Create one slide with everything on it (pictures, text boxes, shapes etc.) then to clone that slide multiple times in the Navigator using option-drag.
    2. On each secondary slide, carefully delete non-essential bits by selecting and hitting delete - the result should be a series of slides that have different as well as the key parts (time line or image with parts where you wish to click)
    3. Create small shapes and place them on the original target image or object and select each separately and assign a hyperlink to the secondary slide that would reveal the information you want - Note: be sure to check enable hyperlink in the Hyperlink Inspector in each case. Hyperlinks work with objects like shapes.
    4. With the object still selected set the object fill opacity to zero (this allows the entire object to be clickable - if you select no fill, only the stroke is clickable), repeat for each part you wish to talk about
    5. On the first secondary slide place a small object where you can later find it. Hyperlink it to the original slide, set opacity as needed, COPY this object and then click on the next secondary slide in the Navigator and PASTE (that will place the object in the same place on each secondary slide as a return-button).
Timeline would be done similarly. The general effect is the appearance of items (images, text) while the rest of the slide appears to remain in place.
    Good luck.

  • Creating an animation in a form field

    http://www.krop.com/ (best viewed
    through FF)
Type in the gigantic search box and you’ll see an
“animation” in the background. (little diagonal yellow
    bars sliding across background)
How do you make this happen? I just want to make it work on a
single page before I proceed further. I don't think I need a step
by step (at least not yet :) I just need to know how this is being
done so I can create my own version. I've googled for this. But I
think I'm not using the correct terms, so google is giving me
squat. At first I thought it was some kind of interactive, animated
.gif. Now I'm just not sure... I even went so far as to create the
gif, now it just sits on the webpage..
NOTE: I downloaded the site into Dw using WA Site Import.
When I go to preview index.html. It doesn't show me that cool
little animation when I type in the search box...
Thanks so much in advance for your help.

Could you pls explain what you are trying to do? You can store

  • Flash Alternative for developing app with lots of 2D Animation

First let me say, I know Flash does not run on iPad. And I'm not looking for an alternative to Flash Video.
I want to create an app for the iPad, with a lot of full screen, 24 frames-per-second animation. Basically an interactive Animated Movie, like the game Dragon's Lair, from days of yore.
I know how to do this in Flash, using the timeline and drawing and animation tools, and using Actionscript to track user clicks and trigger events in the movie.
Are there any alternative tools I can use for iPad app development, that will allow me to:
-- Draw directly in the tool
-- Do frame by frame animation in the tool
    -- Uses a timeline
-- Uses vector images to keep the file size down
-- Has a scripting language that will allow me to track the user clicking on invisible buttons and trigger new animations?
I've looked at all of Apple's Developer tools for the iPhone and iPad, but they all seem to use Bitmapped Sprites which would make the file size way too big, and animation a nightmare.
Thanks in advance for any help on this.

Well, there are several 3D game developers for the iOS operating system including EA Sports and id Software's Doom Engine. And in the Apple Software Development Kit for iOS, there are numerous API's for game development. I think you should google game development for the iOS (ipad and iphone), and see what they've got.

  • Slow and Bumpy animations

    Hi,
I made an interactive animation with PNG graphics using Animate v4. It works OK in the computer. On the iPad, the performance is still far from perfect.
Path animations go slow and bumpy. Buttons with Play() or Stop() interactions got some delay... even simple rotations become lagged, slow, bumpy...
Anyone knows any way to speed up Animate performance?? What is your experience?
    Thanks!!

Could you try putting the animation up somewhere so we can see and report on it properly ?

  • Edge, Animator or Hype?

To make widgets with interactive animations, it seems to me there are now three choices:
    - Adobe Edge, now free in preview, uncertain what the final price will be (probably expensive)
    - Sencha Animator, $199 for version 1
    - Tumult Hype, $49.95
Adobe Edge looks cool, but I have not been able to find a price indication and I'm not going to invest in a learning curve for a tool that will be too expensive. It is also not clear how you turn Edge stuff into widgets that can be used in iBooks. Nice about Edge is that it can import SVG. Sencha looks good too and it works with iBooks, but I find it pricey and there is also not an upgrade policy, hence, will I be paying big  bucks again for version 2? Tumult Hype has a nice price, but there is not a lot of info out there about doing interactions and using it in combination with iBooks.
So, I am looking for information. What do people use?

    What do people use?
    Interesting topic.
Had never heard of Adobe Edge or Sencha Animator but did have a copy of Hype on my system. After some quick browsing, I decided to compare its use against the free Motion Composer download which seemed to be an innovative approach while the other two programs looked to be for more seriously inclined users requiring more time than I wanted to invest in checking out such applications. Of the two, I still prefer Hype and after a few hours use, deleted the Motion Composer "try before you buy" test app.
While the program's concept was exactly what I was looking for, the software seemed more like a "work in progress" rather than a product ready for market. I managed to creash the app three or four times (don't apply a paragraph effect to a text component that doesn't contain a define paragraph), was disappointed to find your cannot mix text styles within a text component, and found the previews in the browser did not always run as they did in the main app window. Also, since the exporter module could not be accessed, I was unable to see what export options were available or test output to see if it mimics the problematic browser preview or the app's more smoothly running internal preview. So at three times the price of the Hype software package, I quickly decided Motion Composer was simply worth the difference in price.
The latest Radi posting also looks interesting if only for its ability to export animations as video files. (Was, however, a bit disappointed that the QT sampe file was in the MP4 container type.) Especially since my current work flow is to screen capture Hype's output to create iBooks Author "Intro" M4V video files. Unfortunately, I will not be able to test Radi's free beta software immediately since Hype just released their latest v1.5 update today which contains many new major changes—including the ability to export Widget files. Basically this means I will probably have to create another iBooks Author project tonight (converting a public domain ePUB to iBooks Author format) for which I will have to download and prepare some NASA JPL public images, create an intro video, as well as, see if I can come with some pretext for including a test Hype Widget.
In any case, to answer your original question, I'm continuing to use Hype based on its combination of price and feature set which primarily targets the non-professional user but I will still remain open to other similar applications which may hit the market in the days and months to come. In case anyone is interested, here is the URL for the 20-second, video only, test "Intro" file created using Hype. (The file was originally created as a simple HTML 5 file but I decided to use it as the "Intro" Media file to see how that iBooks Author page workd as this was my initial use of the application.)

  • Exporting flash cc html5 animation to edge animate

I want to create an interactive animation for PC, cellphones tablets etc. Since most cellphones do not support flash I decided to do this in HTML5. Flash cc supports html5 canvas but the response time of the simple buttons I created is just awful and buggy. After researching I found out that everyone suggest Edge for html5 content. My problem is in edge I do not have any brush or pen tools which I need for my animations. So I would have to create vector animations in flash and export them to edge. I have found absolutely nothing to do this. I can either export as swf which the majority of cellphones do not support or videos that are non vector or non vector image sequences. I can publish flash cc html5 canvas as html/js but I cant Import it to edge. Am I missing something or why isn't this possible?

    Hi Alhab
One way to do this is, exporting your content from Flash to Edge Animate as sprite sheets. The following discussion might help you to bring your content from Flash to Animate.
created animation in flash turn it into a rollover

  • Adding Interactivity, Looping, and Code | Learn Edge Preview 6 | Adobe TV

There's no avoiding the fact that interactivity, regardless of application, is code-driven. In this lesson you will learn just how easy it is to use the Edge Code panel to create navigation, launch events on the screen, and even go to other websites. You'll also see how the Script panel and its snippets make coding a breeze for people who are new to JavaScript and provide a familiar place for web developers.

    Hi,
I have created an interactive animation following this tutorial and have publish it to HTML5. With all the files generated in a folder, I placed the entire folder into the same folder where my Adobe Indesign files are.
When I used the web content overlay in my indesign to link to the html page. It just showed me a white block. When I set the background to transparent, nothing shows when I previewed in my content viewer in both desktop and devices. It works fine when I previewed it on Firefox and Safari.
Any idea what caused the problem?
    Thanks.

  • I can not run animation iframe in Edge

    English:
Hello everyone, sorry for my English, but I'm an Italian guy. I have been trying for days to enter an interactive animation with the mouse on adobe edge, but I can not. Adobe muse I just click enter html code, I copy and paste the code that is this: <iframe src = "linkanimazione.html" width = "1280" height = "720" frameborder = "0" scrolling = "no"> </ iframe> and it works great, but I have to create the button at the edge, because I have to insert a voice audio when you hover over with the mouse before opening the animation. Why in muse so simple, and in edge seems so complex? No practical code, please can someone tell me very clearly how to do? In the net I found a little and I could not make it work.
My button that I should create is composed as follows: background image, roll image when you hover over an item with the mouse and audio ... then when you clik on the roll you open a lightbox with animation iframe interactive with the mouse.
    Thank you very much indeed

    Grazie mille davvero

Hello, thank you, I did some tests on the Stage with creationComplete compositionReady and copying and pasting the code of the button: sym. $ ("PLACEHOLDER"). Append ('<iframe src = "http://www.bbc.com/" height = "224px" width = "550px" frameborder = "0" scrolling = "no"> </ iframe> '); but does not work. Nothing happens to the mouse click. Would you be so kind as to explain to me how to do it in a simple way, without possibly assume no passage? I know very little code html and I'm learning just Edge Animate. Thank you very much
