Interactive book for iPad question

Hi all,
I have been experimenting and trying to create an interactive book to play on the iPad, using the packager. So far I have been unable to get the pages to move by clicking or swiping them. I have successfully gotten the pages onto the iPad via the packager but not the interactivity.  Any help or an example of code would be appreciated.

Regarding the JPG vs PNG: I have read that Adobe recommends JPGs over PNG, but if you must use PNGs be sure you have eliminated transparency (if possible). Be sure that your images are "right sized" --not physically larger than the size you are showing them. You can also try caching the bitmap images in AS3 on the first frame.
I look forward to hearing of your successful results!

    US only at this time.
Apple doesn't discuss future plans, sorry.
As always, feel free to use the 'Provide iBooks Author Feedback' menu item for features you'd like added in the future, etc.

  • HT5071 How do I get and english version of Jeremy Clarkson's newest book for ipad?

How do I get an english version of Jeremy Clarkson's newest book for ipad?

Just FYI, you've posted in the wrong place, this part of the discussions site is for iBook Author, you should post in iBooks.
Anyway, if you're on your mobile device, you open IBooks (you may have to download the app from the AppStore, I don't think it's there by default), tap 'store', and search for 'Jeremy Clarkson'. Latest book I could see is "the Top Gear Years".
If you're on your mac, the iBook store can be accessed via iTunes, downloaded, and then sync your iPad.
    Hope that helps.

  • Enhanced book for iPad, built on iBooks Author

    Hi all
I am sorry if these are similar questions to ones asked before, but I wondered if things might be different since they were last asked.
I have delivered an enhanced book built for iPad and it is currently in the review status, not in 51 stores. My questions (of which I have heard many myths about):
    1) As it's an enhanced book (created on iBooks Author), there are lots of videos, galleries etc which make the publication about 1 gig. I have heard that although there is a 2 gig limit, some authors have had responses from Apple saying that it should be kept to max 200mb and therefore rejected. True or false do you reckon?
    2) Mine is a travel guide about a specific area of Spain and it is all about solutions to the traveller. Therefore as well as lots of text, there is a Useful Links section that links to companies websites  such as car hire  - their logos are next to the URL's in my book. Do you think Apple will be ok with their logos visible and external web links? It is simple to remove it if necessary but in truth it is a resource for my readers.
    3) I have heard varying reports of 3 hours to 55 days for the review process to be complete. Does anybody know if it is longer for an enhanced book due to the complexitied of its build?
    4) I have heard reports that if it fails, Apple will tell you how to rectify it. Is this true and is it easy to resubmit?
    5) I have also heard reports of Apple simply rejecting without explanation. That would be so painful. I have spent 6 months and a lot of investment. I would be devestated. is this true?
    6) Any other advice? It has been in review for 3 days only so far. Any ideas on current wait time for enhanced books built for ipad, created on iBooks Author?
It's an anxious time isn't it?!
    Thanks.

    1. Max size is 3 GB, but   take  into acount you want  updates at some stage and need to allow "space"
    2. URLs  are usually excepted IF they are not competitors of Apple iBooks Store - ie Amazon. Any logo is usually copyrighted by the  company.  Any potential copyright infringements  could be rejected by th review team.
    3. Time taken in Review depends how busy they are  without regard to your  content.
    4.  If your book fails the review,  you will be issued a ticket - A recent email advised changed to the ticketing procedures.
    Ticket Catalog Report
The Catalog Reports module on iTunes Connect now contains a Ticket Catalog Report. The report contains details for all tickets that have been assigned to your iTunes Connect account.
    iBooks Store Formatting Guidelines Update
The iBooks Store Formatting Guidelines include important information to help you avoid common errors when publishing on the iBooks Store. The new version of the guidelines includes updated information for copyrighted terms, supported languages, series metadata, What's New descriptions, book assets files, and more.
Download the updated iBooks Store Formatting Guidelines from the Deliver Your Content module on iTunes Connect.
    5.  The review team will pass or fail your book,  fail is dealt with above. Pass... means its in the store. All you need to  do is keep checking status in iTC.
    6. is the same asnwer as 3.    You wait and Check in iTC to monitor if your book  is passed or ticketed.
Other advice,  open iTC  >  Deliver your Content >  on the top right are a number of PDF, download and  read  study them. Below them is a video.. take time to  view the video and take notes.
The above extracts are from an email  from iBooks, the links should still work, if not  they are basically to open your iTunes Connect - Deliver your content section.
Last  bit of advice, check everything  at least twice before uploading to the store. Remember issues with copyright. Dont use anything just  because its online. Dont copy text or images from other  websites and give credits/links to any that are subject to Common Licence conditions... and finally.. be patient, time , tide and Apple move at their own speed.

  • Help creating interactive presentation for iPad using InDesign

    Hello All,
So I have some very basic experience using Adobe programs for my personal business solutions.  Primarily photoshop.  But I just got InDesign CS6 as it was recommend for creating an interactive presentation for an iPad.
Before I get to my main question I'd like to give you the basics on my needs for such presentation. I currently own a residential painting company and we have a printed client manual we use at our sales presentations to cover our services for prospective clients.  I would like to create an interactive presentation, document, whatever (is easiest and will provide the best experience) for our sales reps to use on iPad devices.  This presentation will ideally be between 20-30 pages long, with a main menu and 4-5 subtopics with page links, video & picture inserts, working web links, GIF's, and anything else that might spark customer interest or be an effective sales tool.
We are trying to integrate everything for use on the ipad for our sales presentation because we can use it as an all in one tool.  Specifically for our client manual, schedule, job locations, credit processing, etc...  Also, I see a video review on an ipad much more powerful tool than the boring written reviews we have right now.
Anyways, I really have absolutely no idea what I am doing.  I have learned Adobe programs from scratch in the past, and I am looking for any beginner advice or resources you guys may have. Maybe some good starting points or examples of presentation templates for ipad use, functionality, etc...  Really lost in the fog right now, and just looking for a little beginner guidance.
Any help or advice is grealty appreciated
    Thanks
    Tim

    Tim,
I believe you can get more specific help over here:
    http://forums.adobe.com/community/indesign
You may (re)consider the presentation format. A PDF (which may be created from an InDesign document) may an option for identical appearance (requiring sufficient pixel x pixel size of all appliances used. Otherwise, a floating (reflowing) format may be more appropriate. In the latter case, InDesign may be a dead end.

  • What programs should I use to make an interactive ebook for ipad?

What programs should I use to make an interactive children's ebook for ipad?

Adobe has a DPS add-on for InDesign (http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-publishing-suite-single.html) and it handles all the page transitions as well as swapping between portait and landscape. I think the way most people work is the pages are built in inDesign and regions of animation from EA are added second. But if every page had full screen animation, I suppose you may want to build your pages in Edge first.

  • Keynotes for iPad Question

I have never used Powerpoint nor Keynotes.
But I bought the iPad for product demonstrations.
I created the slides in Photoshop, saved them as .png.
At the end, I have a mpg4 video playing.
Now I saw there is Keynotes for iPad.
My question: will it play the video as well? I am planning to add several videos at the end.
If yes, how will I switch from 1 video to the next? I read, you have to use your finger to change the page, can it be also automated? Like a slide show?
Or is there a better software which will work better for my purpose?
    Thank you.
    Dorian

Probably have better luck getting an answer in the iWorks for iPad forum.

  • Silly GarageBand for iPad question 2 - Other instruments

Are you only limited to using the sounds provided in GB for iPad, or can you use the sounds from other apps in tracks?

There is any way to add extra instruments, but you can add other loops/samples to your projects. I found some at
    http://www.macloops.com/ for example.
    Adding audio sample to GarageBand
Connect the iPad, select it in the left-hand column, open the Apps tab, scroll down to File Sharing, select GarageBand, add files with the button or drag and drop onto the file area.
    Insert audio sample into song
Open song in GarageBand on iPad, switch to Tracks view, stop if playing and tap |< symbol to reset insert point, tap in the area underneath existing tracks, click Import... select sample, move/trim as desired.

  • Airplay Interactive Books from Ipad to Apple TV

I used to be able to Airplay interactive children's books from my iPads (3rd Gen and iPad mini) to my Apple TV (latest).
However, recently, the visual part disappears once I press the button the books to start reading.
I use a Time Capsule (latest - 2bg) for our wirelss router, wifi is strong. Music and internet movies are excellent when using airplay.
Wifi transmit rate is usually between 350 to 450mbps.
I have another airport express on roaming network with my Time Capsule in the bedroom - it is connected to the Time Capsule by LAN.
I tried resetting my ipads and Apple Tv and Time capsule but its still the same, no picture when using airplay for interactive children's books.
    Anyone can help?

Does the AirPlay icon show up when you play music on your iPad?

  • How to create interactive pdf for Ipad using InDesign CS6

Hi I created a Magazine layout using InDesign CS6 and wanted it to be viewed on native Ipad reader (but not as apps).  I put interactivity features like page navigations and hyperlinks and converted it to interactive pdf. The problem was the links and buttons are not showing on Ipad.
I tried using Acrobat Pro to create the hyperlinks and this time the navigations and hyperlinks are showing. But is there a way not to create the hyperlinks manually one by one (specially the next page and previous page). If I have more than 100 pages of documents this process will be very tedious.
Is there a solution to create the interactive pdf directly from InDesign without creating the links in Acrobat?

    Hi Guys
This is Sean Smith.  Marilou who wrote the original post works for me.  Bob if you could point us in the direction of details you need I’ll ensure we provide the additional information as soon as possible.
M tells me she pretty much doing exactly what Steve's article suggests.
The concern is what a remarkably cumbersome process this appears to be.
Even though I believe her explanation entirely I find the problem to be highly disconcerting as it’s wasting an immense amount of valuable time and inhibiting the production process significantly.
She is producing wonderful results but via an immensely painstaking process fraught with potential for error.  Each page link has to be manually linked to the next by number.  It’s entirely possible to make a mistake and link to the incorrect page thus missing pages.
If she inserts a new page – guess what? All the pages links have to changed manually and double checked yet again.
If she makes a ‘Contents’ section as we do and exports the InDesign file as an interactive PDF all the contents items and links are missing and are therefore blank.
She then has to export the document as a plain PDF and do the job again in Acrobat.
For an extravagantly wealthy company with such extraordinarily expensive software I find this to be entirely incredulous.
Who is the Product Manager for InDesign?
Are they aware of this issue?
What are they doing about it and when will it be done?
Just curious are you guys paid employees or volunteers as this appears to be an official forum and we are new here?
Digital publishing of PDF magazines appears to be an explosive growth market especially for platforms such as the iPad but this primary product for the task appears to be inadequate or ill-conceived.
Is DPS a possible solution or is this more for Apps than PDF production?
    Regards
    Sean

  • The entire process to publish a book for Ipad?

    Hi,
I would like to know how to get a licence for a book made with DPS. I'm aware about the Single et Multi issue. The Adobe crew in France doesn't seem to be informed about the exact process. How can I proceed and in your own experience, what is the delay since submitting your content to Adobe and having the book ready to sell?
    Thank you,
    Rava

You can start by reading the Single Edition Overview:

  • Paid $10 for a book for ipad -- won't download

This may be the wrong forum, but not sure where to go.  I purchased a book that is supposed to open in iBook, but it never shows up.  So if I go back to the Library, it shows the book and other books listed there (other books that never downloaded either).  All the other books say "downloading." But the book I just paid $10 for doesn't say that.  It shows a little down arrow in a little white cloud (one other book shows that too).  So when I click on that it says "downloading" again.  But pretty soon, it stops and I'm back to the little down arrow.
If I never get the book, you can BET I'll never get my $10 back! Apple never believes anything, even if you show them receipts of the purchase.  I experienced that once and went through a nightmare trying to get my app -- even though it showed that I did purchase it.
So here I am again having just paid $10 for a book, and it just never shows up.  I don't know how to get it to keep downloading or where else it could have downloaded? Said I needed iBook to buy it.
    Sigh . . .

Check the size of the book, which should appear after the description and stuff. If it is a large book, will need either a very fast Internet link or a longer download interval, provided your connection is stable for the duration. Else the download will fail and you will have to keep retrying. The "cloud with down arrow" means the item has not downloaded successfully yet.
For example, Getty Images "2013 Year in Pictures" is over 800MB in size and takes almost 20 minutes to download in my home's 6Mbps ADLS link.

  • What r the best sites to download e books for ipad

What r the recco web sites to download books to read on my iPad. I have downloaded iBooks but the store has a  only an archaic collection

If you buy books from another site then they will probably have digital rights management on them, meaning that they can only be read in that store's own app (if they have one) or e-reader - so you won't be able to read them in the iBooks app, unless the site says that they are compatible with it.
Have you looked to see what other ebook apps/stores exist in the iTunes app store in India e.g. is there Kindle, Kobo, etc ?

  • Any reader app for epub books for ipad 5.1.1?

    appreciate any help here
    TIA,
    Sterling

What you need to do is:
    1) Opened up iTunes on my desktop.
    2) Went to Store (left hand column)->iTunes Store.
    3) Searched for Netflix; downloaded the app.
    4) Open App Store on your IPad.
    5) Click on Purchased, you will have to install NetFlix by clicking on it as usual.
App Store will ask you:"Download an older version of this app. The current version requires iOS 6.0 or later, but you can download the last compatible version.", just click on Download and that's it.
You can install any app like that.
    Hope it helped.

  • Quick keynote for iPad question

Using Keynote on an ipad, can you place a hyperlink on a page that will open up a file you already have on your ipad? (I'm not talking about an internat hyperlink) On my work PC using Powerpoint I can place a file 'hyperlink" on a page and when I click that link it opens the file on my computer that it points to. Can I do the same with ipad keynote presentations?
I haven't bought the ipad yet, if this will work with keynote then i will be buying an ipad.
    thanks
