Interactive Booklet Does Nothing

Hi, I purchased Paul Oakenfold's new release called A Lively Mind last night. It comes with the bonus "Interactive Booklet - A Lively Mind.mov" which seems to do nothing in iTunes; I copied it out of iTunes and tried to open it with half-a-dozen apps listed in my Open-As contextural menu, but it always opens as a blank white box. Is it actually supposed to do anything and how do I get it working?
Thanks...

I'm having the same issue on a clean install. When power button was set to suspend, it worked, but I cannot get interactive power off to work. I verified that the ACPI event is coming through and is making it into the systemd journal,  but Gnome does not seem to be responding to it.
As a workaround, you can use a keyboard shortcut to show the interactive power dialog. Just open Settings -> Keyboard -> Shortcuts -> System and set the "Log out" shortcut to whatever you wish or use the default Ctrl+Alt+Delete. I mapped mine to Ctrl+PowerOff because I am using Ctrl+Alt+Delete to show the interactive logout dialog from a custom shortcut.

  • Problem with interactive booklet

    i just bought B'Day, by Beyonce, whihc comes with an interactive booklet. i double click on it and nothing happens.... i tried to open it in Quicktime and RealPlayer but it wouldn't work
    how does a digital booklet work?
    does anyone know why this is happening?

    I'm having the same problem. I sent them an e-mail last night and got some delusional response that had nothing to do with my question. I specifically asked about the "B'Day" interactive booklet and said it wouldn't work and all they said was you've downloaded "B'Day" already. I sent them a second e-mail, but I haven't heard back yet.
    I'm also having a problem with my "Idlewild" interactive booklet. I can't get it to expand into a larger window. It's only done it once.
    The whole interactive booklet thing seems like a complete mess. Not to mention they have 2 of the same version of "B'Day" on iTunes if you click on her name. I'm wondering if one version had the actual booklet and the other didn't. There was an incident with Danity Kane's album on release day also. They had two versions at first, one with a video and one without. But both were the same price. They eventually got rid of the one that didn't include the video. I knew it was an error. But I'm wondering if the same thing happened here.

  • Interactive Booklet Problems

    Since updating to iTunes 7 I am no longer able to view Quicktime interactive booklets. Adobe ones like "Modern Times" styill work fine but Quicktime ones such as the "Muse Black Holes and Revelations" boolket just play as a few seconds of silence. Nothing else happens - the pages are not viewable at all. This is regardless of if I try playing them through iTunes or Quicktime. I have updated to ITunes 7.1 but this does not solve the problem. Any suggestions?

  • Brand new iMac 21", freeze. Mouse movies, but does nothing

    We just opened a brand new iMac 21" literally yesterday (purchased within the last three weeks). It was on for about an hour with no problems whatsoever. Then, while transferring photos to iPhoto, the system interface randomly froze. You can move the mouse around the screen, but it does nothing. You can't click anything. Hard resets/shutdowns result in the system rebooting back to the desktop like normal, but the mouse stays in this semi-frozen state. You can movie the pointer, but you can't actually interact with anything to fix the problem. Nothing brings it out of this state. We're not terribly experienced with Macs (new owner) and also snowed in to boot.
    Has anybody encountered problems like this before? How do I fix this freeze?

    My suggestion with a new Mac that is having those problems is to take it back to the Apple Store and ask them to fix it. Beside allowing them to solve the problem that will also give them the chance to document the problem with your Mac just in case it should happen again.

  • Interactive Booklet

    I have purchased the new audioslave album(great) However I cannot get anything out of the interactive booklet. I have tried in quick time and the same thing happens - It has a progress bar and a timer of 11 seconds but that is it.
    I thought it was art work etc but it seems to be nothing.
    Any ideas?

    Hey, John, did you try the above (my last post)?
    I have posts in two locations. On the other thread, I stated I already had the item on system preferences checked and followed the steps as outlined
    Being the kind of guy that I am I went back and:
    1 unchecked the item. Restarted (System reboot) the computer.
    2 Check "enable Flash" and Restart (System reboot) the computer
    3 Now double click the interactive booklet and well... you get an interactive booklet with one more step
    4 Look for (either "Now Playing" or "Selected" [You and switch it] window in lower left corner) and in very small print (about 4 point) you can see four items
    A Cover
    B Photos
    C Lyrics
    D Discography
    5 Double click that window [what I call the Album Cover window (Now Playing or selected] and you get an Interactive book and you and select from the four items (a to d) above.
    Good heavens I either had it all the time and never double clicked that window. I used the old Mac Plus (early 90's) trick to deselect (turn off) and reboot and select and reboot. This trick still works for that spreadsheet program from the boys near Seattle

  • Interactive Booklet Problems & iTunes 7

    Since upgrading to 7, I noticed that the interactive booklet I got with a couple of albums from the iTMS no longer function properly. Anyone else see the same issue?
    You got one with P.O.D.'s "Testify" for example. It used to open up into a looping movie that was the booklet. Now it seems to play, but nothing appears.

    I seem to be having the same problem. At first I thought it was my fault. I was irritated at how the 2 booklets I have would try to "play" when I was shuffling music, so I moved them outside of the iTunes folder, thinking I could open them outside of iTunes. When they wouldn't show anything other than a playbar, I put them back into iTunes, then they wouldn't play.
    It doesn't make sense that they would break just by moving them. Is it iTunes 7's fault and not mine?

  • Interactive booklet won't play

    I purchased the Superman Returns soundtrack, and the interactive booklet came along with it. Its supposed to open in Preview or a PDF program, but whenever i double click it, nothing happens. Do I need to download Adobe or is something screwing up here? Thanks to all who respond.
    Chase

    Chase,
    Is it a TuneBook?
    If so, to get it to work in iTunes you need to Play it, just like a song.
    For a larger version, you can also open it in QuickTime.
    First select it in iTunes, then File>Show Song File. That will locate the file for you in the Finder. Now double click it.
    Now when you mouse over it and click you should be able to interact with it.

    I generally defer to folks like QuickTimeKirk on these sorts of matters, but I think that's the source of the problem. That's the Apple Intermediate Codec, an editing codec used on Macs:

  • HELP with Interactive Booklets purchased thru itunes

    I have a 30 gb video ipod. A few of the albums I have purchased through itunes have an interactive booklet attached. When I sync my ipod with itunes, it says my ipod model can not support the interactive booklets. As a result I can't view them. Does anyone have an answer to why this is?????????? I figured that since I have a 5th generation ipod, viewing these booklets would not be an issue. Any help anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

  • Audioslave Interactive Booklet not working

    I purchased Audioslave's Revelations, which came with an "Interactive Booklet - Revelations" which doesn't seem to work.
    When I click on it, nothing happens (unlike the traditional PDF booklet opening). When I check the info it says it's a 12 second quicktime MOV. When I locate the MOV and play it, nothing.
    What is this thing and why was it worth buying the entire album, since this was one of the few bonuses that made the purchase worth while (it was $10.99 instead of $9.99)??

  • JScrollPane (added to a JPanel, which paints) is visible but does nothing

    Hi. I am writing a program that reads data from files and does paiting using the info. The top level window is a JFrame, which is divided into two parts - A Box which contains the buttons through which the user interacts and a JPanel on which the painting is done. I have added the JPanel to a JScrollPane, but have run into problems there. The JScrollPane is visible (both policies always visible) but it does nothing. I understand that when the drawing is fitting, the ScrollPane is not used. But even if I make the window small or draw something that is not visible in the normal are, the JScrollPane doesn't work. In fact, no knob is visible on either of the two scrollbars. I am pasting the relevant code below:
    //import
    public class MainWindow extends JFrame {
        public static void Main(String[] args) {
            new MainWindow();
        //Declare all the variables here.
        private Box buttionBox;
        private JScrollPane scroller;
        private HelloPanel drawingPanel;
        //other variables
        //The constructor for the class MainWindow.
        public MainWindow() {
           initComponents();
            this.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
            this.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(900,670));
            //buttonBox containts the buttons - not very relevant to this problem.
            this.getContentPane().add(buttonBox, BorderLayout.WEST);
            //scroller is the JScrollPane
            this.getContentPane().add(scroller, BorderLayout.CENTER);
            this.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            this.setTitle("My Title");
            this.setVisible(true);
            this.pack();
        public void initComponents() {
            buttonBox = Box.createVerticalBox();
            //instantiate the buttons here and add them to the ButtonBox.
            //The event listeners instantiated. Not relevant.
            //The various components are assigned their appropriate event listeners here.
             //Not relevant.
    //Now adding all the buttons to the box with proper spacing.
            buttonBox.add(Box.createVerticalStrut(20));
            //This is the drawing panel on which the drawing will be done.
            drawingPanel = new HelloPanel();
            scroller = new JScrollPane(drawingPanel);
                    scroller.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
            scroller.setHorizontalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
            scroller.getHorizontalScrollBar().setUnitIncrement(10);
            scroller.getVerticalScrollBar().setUnitIncrement(10);
        //This inner class is used to define and implement the event listener for handling the checkboxes.
        private class checkBoxListener implements ItemListener{
            public void itemStateChanged(ItemEvent e){
                 drawingPanel.repaint();
                    //Implement actions. Irrelevant
        //This private class is used to define and implement the event listener for the buttons.
        private class buttonListener implements ActionListener {
            //Do this when the button which has an instance of this class as its listener is clicked.
            public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) {
                if (e.getSource() == saveStructureButton){
                  //Implement action. Irrelvant.
        //The panel on which the drawings are done.
        private class HelloPanel extends JPanel {
            //This JPanel is used for drawing the image (for the purpose of saving to disk).
            JComponent c;    //For image. Irrelevant.
            public HelloPanel(){
                c = this;   //This is necessary for drawing the image to be saved to disk.
                this.setBackground(Color.WHITE);
            //This is the method that actually paints all the drawings whenever a.
            //The shapes theselves can be defined somewhere else, but that paint method must be invoked from here.
            public void paintComponent(Graphics g){
                super.paintComponent(g);    //First of all, clear the panel.
                Graphics2D g2 = (Graphics2D) g;
                g2.fill(new Rectangle2D.Double(40,40,100,100));    //Just for this post.
                g2.drawString("Text", 750, 750);    //To test the scrollpane.
    } I hope this helps you get an idea of what I am trying to do and what the problem might be. Any help would be really appreciated. I have spent hours on this and I have no idea why it doesn't work.
    The actual code is much bigger, so if you need any extra information, please tell me.

    HelloPanel should provide a "public Dimension getPreferredSize()" method.
    With your code you create a simple JPanel and want to draw outside of it, but you never tell the JScrollPane that your HelloPanel is actually bigger than it seems, that's why it does not feel the need to add scroll bars.
    Here's the working code:
    //import
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.geom.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    public class MainWindow extends JFrame {
        public static void main(String[] args) {
            new MainWindow();
        //Declare all the variables here.
        private Box buttionBox;
        private JScrollPane scroller;
        private HelloPanel drawingPanel;
        //other variables
        //The constructor for the class MainWindow.
        public MainWindow() {
           initComponents();
            this.setLayout(new BorderLayout());
            this.setPreferredSize(new Dimension(900,670));
            //buttonBox containts the buttons - not very relevant to this problem.
            //this.getContentPane().add(buttonBox, BorderLayout.WEST);
            //scroller is the JScrollPane
            this.getContentPane().add(scroller, BorderLayout.CENTER);
            this.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
            this.setTitle("My Title");
            this.setVisible(true);
            this.pack();
        public void initComponents() {
            //buttonBox = Box.createVerticalBox();
            //instantiate the buttons here and add them to the ButtonBox.
            //The event listeners instantiated. Not relevant.
            //The various components are assigned their appropriate event listeners here.
             //Not relevant.

            scroller = new JScrollPane(drawingPanel);
                    scroller.setVerticalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.VERTICAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);
            scroller.setHorizontalScrollBarPolicy(JScrollPane.HORIZONTAL_SCROLLBAR_ALWAYS);

  • ITunes 7 breaks Interactive booklet

    I made a full album purchase (Justin Timberlake - Future/LoveSounds) which included the Interactive booklet feature. It worked yesterday after the downloaded completed, but when I launch iTunes 7 today, the booklet no longer shows a visual, either in iTunes playback or attempting to open the file directly in Quicktime. The file is still showing that the file is of the correct sizing, i.e. 2.7 megabytes. Any ideas for a solution on this?

    I'm guessing that you have Flash support turned off in QuickTime.
    Go to:
    Apple Menu->System Preferences->QuickTime
    Under the "Advanced" tab, make sure "Enable Flash" is checked & reboot.
    Does that help?
