Interactive booklet doesn't show in Quicktime.

An interactive booklet from a cd that I bought from iTunes doesn't work. It plays in iTunes and in Quicktime, but the booklet doesn't show up. Is there a settings issue or something. I have the new iTunes.

  • Digital booklet doesn't show up in tracklisting after copy

I purchased an album off iTMS today from my work computer. I got home and copied the entire folder over to my home computer and performed an "Add folder..." to add the album to iTunes on my home computer. It showed up fine, except for the digital booklet.
When I downloaded the album earlier today, the digital booklet showed up along with the tracklisting. After doing the "Add Folder..." action on this other computer, the digital booklet doesn't show up.
I can open it with Adobe Reader just fine. The file itself exists in the folder. The album tracks play in iTunes 8 without any problems. It would be more convenient if the digital booklet showed up in the album tracklisting like it did on my other computer.
Any ideas? I tried searching but didn't see any suitable answers.
    Thanks in advance!

I changed setting you mention (although I thought that applied strictly to what appears in DESKTOP, not all Finder windows/folders...)   made no difference..  just connected camera, the mac still won't read it...
I do know about iPhoto, iMovie, i-whatever...  I still would like to see camera in FINDER (or at the very least in Adobe Bridge.. )  what happens is simply that Apple has decided you can only download/see photos in the camera ONLY with APPLE software.. this ***** BIG TIME...   there's no good reason at all why Apple would do a ****** thing like this....  how users pull/view photos from a camera should be the USER'S choice, not Apple's...  (in general I don't like at all programs you have to "import" photos from, you don't get a choice as to where the photos are stored in yr HD..  I have a very large amount of photos, and have a specific organizing system, specif. way of naming the folders, etc.. and I need to choose exactly where the photos are stored.. )
(to responder who said it's a Nikon issue:  so Nikon decided to design their cameras so you can see photos in Windows Explorer in Windows machines, but they deliberately decided they didn't want them showing up in Finder windows on the mac?  find this a bit hard to believe..   am curious now, so will consult with Nikon, but I do find it hard to believe this is a Nikon decision...)
    thank you...

  • ITunes & Quicktime will not play Interactive Booklets purchased at iTunes

Have discovered that all interactive booklets that accompanied my iTunes purchases are no longer accessible through iTunes or Quicktime. Has this happened to others, and has anyone discovered a fix?
    Thanks in advance for help.

if i try to open it from a folder using right click and open with quicktime, then it doesnt work (quicktime message is 'not working, searcing for a reason'
Hmmm ... that's still a bit odd. It would be nice if we can get that working properly too.
Can you try generating another couple of those error messages? Take a close note of the time showing on the PC when the messages are created. Now go into your Action Center, and find your Problem History. Look for QuickTime problem reports generated at the time of the errors.
Open the QuickTime problem reports and have a look through. Do they all seem to be saying the same thing? If so, paste the contents into a reply here so we can have a look.

  • Interactive booklets don't work, flash playback option nonexistent.

I have an interactive booklet, but whenever I open it, a black screen shows and it goes through 3 seconds of a silent track. I went to this link but the "Enable playback of Adobe Flash tracks" is nonexistent. I have the latest version of QuickTime and iTunes, as whenever I tell them to update it just tries to install Safari, obviously a bad idea.

... Unfortunately, that article about playing interactive booklets is out of date. With QuickTime 7.3.1 and above, the Flash handler has been disabled due to security concerns. There's some more info about that in the following document:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=307176
... so that check box just doesn't exist anymore in the advanced preferences of a QT 7.4.1 (which it sounds like you've got, given that ASU is only telling you about Safari at the moment).
My guess is that we'll only get it back if a new, secure, Flash handler gets developed for Quicktime.

  • Interactive booklets no longer play in iTunes

All my interactive booklets from albums I bought at the iTunes Store no longer play! I am running Leopard with all the latest updates to my software. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Revision:
From what I've read at macworld.com, Apple disabled the flash function in the latest QuickTime update due to a possible security breach. Why is it that Apple doesn't even mention this? I hope a fix is on the way.

  • Interactive booklets no longer working with v7?

I just upgraded to iTunes 7 and now my interactive booklets no longer work. I think it may be a Quicktime issue, though, because I can't run them directly in Quicktime either. And to be clear, these are interactive booklets, not the regular .pdf booklets. They come in .mov container, examples include the latest Justin Timberlake album, also Outkast "Idlewild" and Yellowcard's "Lights and Sounds". When I double click the files in iTunes, there is activity up above in the now playing window but no viewer opens. When I execute the files in Quicktime, I get a window with no contents.
    Any ideas?

Actually, there is a little more to it, because you can't then just click on the interactive book and start it up. What you really have to do is:
Open Quicktime and go to Quicktime : Quicktime Preferences (note that there are two preferences under the Quicktime menu!)
    Click on the Advanced tab
    Click on "Enable Flash"
    Click OK
    Quit Quicktime
    Restart iTunes
Then click on an interactive book
Then click on the album art window to expand it (BUTT only if you are in the regular column view and are showing artwork. If you don't see album art here, go to View and Show Artwork. (BUTT if you are in the new rotating album view panel (that I do like, which you can choose in the upper right hand corner of the iTunes window), then clicking on the album artwork in the rotating view won't start up the interactive booklet. You have to click on the album artwork in the lower left-hand corner)).
Then, after the album artwork expands to a large window, click on this large album art window to start the book (BUTT if you click on the black control panel at the bottom of the album artwork window, then you'll just advance to the next album art - not helpful).

  • Interactive Booklet Problems & iTunes 7

Since upgrading to 7, I noticed that the interactive booklet I got with a couple of albums from the iTMS no longer function properly. Anyone else see the same issue?
You got one with P.O.D.'s "Testify" for example. It used to open up into a looping movie that was the booklet. Now it seems to play, but nothing appears.

I seem to be having the same problem. At first I thought it was my fault. I was irritated at how the 2 booklets I have would try to "play" when I was shuffling music, so I moved them outside of the iTunes folder, thinking I could open them outside of iTunes. When they wouldn't show anything other than a playbar, I put them back into iTunes, then they wouldn't play.
It doesn't make sense that they would break just by moving them. Is it iTunes 7's fault and not mine?

  • Interactive booklet won't play

I purchased the Superman Returns soundtrack, and the interactive booklet came along with it. Its supposed to open in Preview or a PDF program, but whenever i double click it, nothing happens. Do I need to download Adobe or is something screwing up here? Thanks to all who respond.
    Chase

    Chase,
    Is it a TuneBook?
If so, to get it to work in iTunes you need to Play it, just like a song.
For a larger version, you can also open it in QuickTime.
First select it in iTunes, then File>Show Song File. That will locate the file for you in the Finder. Now double click it.
Now when you mouse over it and click you should be able to interact with it.

  • Interactive booklet not playing

I have had many interactive bookelets download when I have purchased entire albums. However, I can never get them to play. The show as a .mov file but are of 0 sec in length and neither iTunes nor QuickTime will play them. How can I access the interactive booklets?

Hi there, I've the same problem and numerous mails from Apple have failed to resolve the issue. I've included the latest in a long line of missives.
Here's hoping you have better luck!
An interactive booklet is a Flash file that provides some animation and a
way to interact to with the content that isn't possible with a PDF file.
The ones I've seen look a lot like a DVD menu, with options to see more
information about the artist or album. That's also why you have to have
Flash enabled before you can view them.
To view the interactive booklet, please be sure that you are using the newest version of iTunes, 7.0.2.
If you are using the newest iTunes version which was released this week, you will need to follow the steps below to view your interactive booklet:
    1) Open iTunes.
    2) Since you're a Mac user, select Preferences from the iTunes menu.
    3) Click the General icon.
    4) Make sure there's a check in the box next to "Play videos" and then select "in a separate window" from the dropdown menu.
If you continue to experience problems viewing the interactive booklet, please refer to the following article:

  • Audioslave Interactive Booklet not working

I purchased Audioslave's Revelations, which came with an "Interactive Booklet - Revelations" which doesn't seem to work.
When I click on it, nothing happens (unlike the traditional PDF booklet opening). When I check the info it says it's a 12 second quicktime MOV. When I locate the MOV and play it, nothing.
What is this thing and why was it worth buying the entire album, since this was one of the few bonuses that made the purchase worth while (it was $10.99 instead of $9.99)??

let's start with this troubleshooting document with that one:
iTunes 7 won't play interactive booklets purchased from the iTunes Store

  • ITunes Interactive booklet size.

Recently d/l an album from the music store, and the included interactive booklet shows up in the small window in the lower left of the screen, but the option to see it full screen in greyed out and double clicking the image won't make it any larger.
Any idea how to view this so I can actually read the text?

Seems a bit of a poor concept. I downloaded my first yesterday and have the same problem.
The only way I've found to play it larger is to locate 'song' file and open it in Quicktime Player. This works but not without a bit of playing around. Not the user friendly thing I would expect from itunes.
Also, the booklet I downloaded 'Thom Yorke - The Eraser', has it's own sound track (which I suppose is cool, but If I want to browse it while listening to the album (as one would a traditional CD cover) then it creates a problem.

  • ITunes 7 breaks Interactive booklet

I made a full album purchase (Justin Timberlake - Future/LoveSounds) which included the Interactive booklet feature. It worked yesterday after the downloaded completed, but when I launch iTunes 7 today, the booklet no longer shows a visual, either in iTunes playback or attempting to open the file directly in Quicktime. The file is still showing that the file is of the correct sizing, i.e. 2.7 megabytes. Any ideas for a solution on this?

I'm guessing that you have Flash support turned off in QuickTime.
    Go to:
    Apple Menu->System Preferences->QuickTime
Under the "Advanced" tab, make sure "Enable Flash" is checked & reboot.
    Does that help?
