Interactive demand planning -statistical forecasting error
Hell APO DP experts,
We are implementing CBF functionality in demand planning. In /SAPAPO/SDP94 - Interactive Demand Planning, when we try to run forecast we are getting a message:
Not possible to carry out the forecast - no historical data
Message no. /SAPAPO/MA502
although the historical data is there.
Any info on this?
Regards
Pandit
Hi,
If you are working on SAP APO 4.0/4.1,
Check OSS Note 790517 - No error message "No historical data available".
Implement the corrections as mentioned in the message.
Warm regards,
Prem

Error Message When Opening Interactive Demand Planning
Hello Experts,
I have one user who is receiving the following error message when trying to open Interactive Demand Planning Workbook. Only one user is experiencing this issue. Has anyone run into this before?
GP: Graphics product not available in this system; see long text
Message no. APPLG225
Diagnosis
The required graphics product is not available on the current platform. It is either not permitted, or it does not work properly.
The application does not have a fallback strategy.
Procedure
Application/Specialists
Contact your developers to see if a fallback strategy can be implemented.
Development
Check the call method of the graphics proxy. If the graphics product is not mandatory (parameter FORCE_PROD), then the graphics proxy can select a different graphics product that is available on this platform.Dear Adam,
The prerequisite for graphics in planning folders is the SAP Internet Graphics Server. The connection between the SAP Internet Graphics Server and the system in which you operate BPS must take place using an RFC destination of the type TCP/IP with the predefined name IGS_DEST_POFO.
Please make sure that your settings are correct and check the online help at: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_sem320bw/helpdata/en/05/

Changing the Chart Title in Graphic View in Interactive demand Planning
Hi All,
Is it possible to change the Chart title in Graphic View in interactive demand planning screen.
When we go to interactive planning after loading the data we go to Univariate forecast then switch to graphic, the chart title shows the selection at which the planning is done. For eg; If I plan at die level and i select a particular sap material, the chart title displays Die value and not the material value.
Is it possible to change the chart title such that it displays all the selections made in selection winodw, like in the above case both Die value as well as SAP Material Number.
Thanks and Regards,
DianaDear Diana,
unfortunately this is not possible.
The chart title is build from the planning book name + the Show characteristic in the shuffler (+ available nav. attributes of the Show char).
The functionality you requested doesn't exist in standard.

How to add new product in interactive demand planning(IDP)
Hi gurus,
How to add new product in interactive demand planning(IDP), can you suggest me, when i click data view in IDP, it will show new product.
Regards
babuHi Raj,
Since the New Product is already in MPOS what you need to do in your Data view is to go to "Selection Window" on the left side of the screen(make sure you dont click on the existing selection ids). Select Product at the top, the planning version will come in the next row and then you again select the Product as charateristic and enter the New product name against the Product(Characteristic) and then save it in case you want it to use for your future references. When you will double cilck on the newly made selection id you will be able to see you product with the keyfigure details in right side.
Please let me know if it works.
Thanks,
Anand. -
SAP ERP - Demand Planning and Forecasting
Dear all,
my customer is a wholesale company. They want to use a component in SAP ERP (not SAP APO), in order to make demanding planning and forecasting for the materials , quantities and dates they should make the purchases in order to cover the demand of their customers. What is the component that should be used in order to achieve this?MRP can be used without production planning. SOP and Demand Management are not Production.
Nevetheless, if you want a simpler planning cycle, provided that you understand its ads and cons, you could go for Consumption Based Planning MRP.

PP Demand Planning Historical Forecast
Hi,
I am trying to run a forecast in the past to allow me to see the outcome of different forecast models as compared to the actual results (e.g.. Historical period current -2 and forecast period current -1). The job appears to work without an error (Ex Post forecast), but no forecast is generated. Does SAP only allow the generation of forecast data for future periods?
Thanks
MarkStrictly speaking yes, forecast is meant to, as the name suggests forecast future values. However, when there is sufficient data the system performs what is called an EX-post forecast. The point of the ex-post forecast is to apply the selected model (for future values) to historical values so that the validity of the selected model can be made (I believe this is what you want to do)
Below is a small example. For a given material I performed the forecast for period 06.2007 onwards, but as you can see that system has also done an ex-post forecast (==> applied the forecats model to past values). I have included a picture to highlight what I mean <a href="http://www.renet-web.net/sdn/forecast.jpg">here</a>. The value circled is the forecasted value for a past period.
hope this helps. -

Demand planning Forecast errors and KPI to store results of error
I have following requirement: keep traceabilitity of hypothesis and forecast error results of former mass process .
In comparison tool, we can compare the result of last interactive forecast run but our requirement is to store those result for KPI purpose.
Is it possible without extra development ? ( built not yet done, we are in design phase)
Kinds regards,
ChristineHi Christine,
There is Standard Error analysis functionality available for forecast accuracy reporting.
Please refer to the URL below:
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_scm70/helpdata/en/6f/8812ce03ba4f0ca09ea31a1a3e1f0c/frameset.htm
Please check if these are sufficient for your business needs.
If we want to extarct standard statistical forecast errors( like MAD, MAPE) calculated in the interactive or batch runs of statistical forecasting , then, to my understanding, development is required. A short detail is given below:
We need to develop macros for calculation of Univariate forecast erros : MAD and MAPE. New planning book and data views may be required to becreated Some extra Key figures also will be needed ,used for storing the values.
The macros runs can be run through batch jobs. These calculated forecast errors of MAD and MAPE then can be compared with the system calculated MAD and MAPE during interactive / batch runs.
The error data can be extracted and stored in the infocubes.
Please check and confirm.

APO DP-Different univarate forecasts -- how to obtain forecast error MAD ?
Hello all,
I have a question regarding 'forecast errors' when a univariate forecast was executed.
The requirement is:
I have a planning book/data view with 5 keyfigures for forecast 1 to 5 and 5 keyfigures for MAD 1 to 5.
Forecast1
MAD1
Forecast2
MAD2
Forecast_n
MAD_n
The idea is to calculate 5 different forecasts and evaluate them (for example with MAD).
One out of the 5 forecasts will be copied then to another keyfigure ( = "Statistical forecast").
In the 'Interactive Demand Planning' I push the button to execute 'univariate forecast'.
I let forecast create for keyfigure "Forecast1" based on historical data.
--> There I can find a tab "Forecast Errors" which provides me with the MAD-value.
Question:
- Is there a possibility to take the MAD-value out of that "Forecast Errors tab" and put it in the keyfigure MAD1?
When I have then every MAD-value from the respective forecast (1 to 5) in the dataview I can use a macro to manually or automatically choose which one will be copied to "Statistical Forecast".
I hope I was able to explain what the requirement is and hopefully somebody has an idea.
Thank you very much in advance.
Edited by: Dominik Ritter on Feb 9, 2009 5:46 PMHi Visu,
thank you very much for your answer!
I will check your solution with a developer (I do not develop).
As I understand I can then use this in an BADI/User exit macro.
Another strange thing is:
When I use SE16 with table /SAPAPO/FCSTACCU and let me list all the content --> I copy PROPID from this table and want to use it explicitly in the selection screen of SE16 to show me the one entry --> it fails because in some way the long key (PROPID) is not recognized.
(Example: IOjC29Eu0JxX0800r00G60)
Thanks and Best Regards

I am an SCM consultant, with particular interest in Demand Planning.
I am experienced with SAP APO, but am now interested in how the emerging eSOA environment can help with Demand Planning solutions.
Can anyone share thoughts/experiences of how web services in general and SAP eSOA in particular can provide 'added value' to Demand Planning?
Thanks,
Bob Austin, Atos OriginGenerally speaking, the demand plan or forecast is ultimately the "image" of the demand side that the supply side wishes to "mirror" or fulfill against. This view is a consolidation of many views from several players on the demand side -- whose input is provided to a much smaller group of planner-users of the Demand Planning tool.
What eSOA does is to essentially extend the Demand Planning process to this larger audience via a number of means:
The new Duet/Excel capability is one example of this extensibility. Think of all the spreadsheets that are being used to do <i>something</i> associated with the demand management process that you can now start to inject some process discipline and control into.
Another example is the ability to integrate with tools like 3rd party sales force automation or channel partners across mobile devices, etc. Because eSOA decouples the interaction layer from the data itself, I now have greater flexibility to extend and collaborate across an increasingly fragmented "demand chain" and different types of users and devices. The opportunity to add value requires some analysis and creativity -- but we are in the age of user-driven innovation and eSOA is designed for this "self service" paradigm.
Hope this helps. -
Hi All,
I am trying to use aggregates in DP but I am facing the following error messages when I try to load data from the aggregates in interactive demand planning:
There are no plannable characteristic combinations
Error reading data - Planning book cannot be processed further
Using /sapapo/ts_pstru_tool and Technical Info. for Aggregate, I noticed that number of entries for the aggregate in 0. I tried to fill it again but nothing happened. I have already tried to deactivate and reactivate, but it did not help.
I also tried to activate and fill the aggregate using the cube generated in BW. In the log I have the following error:
SQL Error: Operand data type nvarchar is invalid for sum oper ator.
SQL Error: 8117
Has anyone faced this problem before and knows how to solve it?
Thanks in advance.
Emiliethe reason for the error and the repair is as in the section below.... and looks like it says there is no solution
i suppose you have tried to activate it again... and have not got any result
you might as well try to inactivate it and recreate the aggregates
then go and refill the cvcs with a fresh create CVC using /SAPAPO/MC62 variant
(be careful - deactivating the MPOS itself will cause data loss)
if you create your CVCs in the MPOS after your aggregates are activated it would automatically aggregate in the right level
Use
The system checks whether the relevant characteristic value combinations
in the master planning object structure exist for the combinations in
the aggregate(s). If this is not the case, that is there are
combinations in the aggregate for which there are no corresponding
combinations in the master planning object structure, the data in the
planning area(s) is inconsistent and error messages are issued, in
interactive planning for instance.
In the results log the system displays the characteristic value
combinations in the aggregate that do not have corresponding
combinations in the master planning object structure.
The aggregate has not been filled correctly.
Repair
It is not possible to repair this type of error automatically since the
superfluous combinations in the aggregate cannot just be deleted.
Reactivate the aggregate. This only leads to a loss of data if values
have been fixed on the aggregate. -
