Interactive Form jumps back to the cursor when scrolling with the mouse

In an interactive form over multiple pages, the user should enter some fields and will then scroll down - usually with the mouse's scrollwheel. As long as the cursor is in an active field, adobe reader keeps jumping back to the place the cursor is active... So it is not possible to scroll down.
Scrolling down by sidebar works fine.
As a workaround, I can place the cursor outside of any entry field (just by klicking any text within the form) and scrolling down works fine again.
I guess this is a "feature" and not a bug - but it is driving our users crazy!
Any suggestions or ideas about how I could get scrolling to work will be highly appreciated.
Adobe Livecycle Designer ES 8.1.2
Adobe Reader 9.4.0

Hi Nicolas,
I am using 8.2.3 ADLC with 9.X reader (for sure this may not be any version dependent as such)
I didn't find any such behavior, and I never heard about it earlier.
Some how I feel this is not a feature nor bug in adobe, its something with your form. may be there is a set focus cdoe somewhere or so.
can you send me the form to test it in my local pc ...?
cheers,
Sai

• Freezing the Name column of the hierarchy when scrolling to the right.

Hi,
In UCMON, the keys of the org hierarchy are frozen when you expand the task columns and scroll to the right. That way I could still see the keys of the organizations when processing the tasks far on the right.
How do I do the same for the names column? Is there a way to have the names column frozen as well so that I could still view the names next to the keys when processing those tasks?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
Sie-Sing

• What will keep my screen (not the cursor) from scrolling to the top?

My laptop screen constantly scrolls to the top whether I'm in e-mail, the web, or any documents. I tried Internet Explorer with the same results. Does anyone have a suggestion?

• Keeping the heading when scrolling down the page

In Excell it is possible to keep the column heading row separate so that when you scroll down through pages of numbers the headings are still visible at the top of the rows. Is it possible to do this in Numbers?
Thanks

Go to the "inspector"-click on the "table" icon-then "headers and footers" where you can set the number of headers or footers you want and click/unclick "freeze". You can also do that directly from the button bar on the "header-footer" buttons

• Cursor continuously scrolling to the right

Last night i downloaded the latest Ipod update and when i went to install it some funky and weird stuff started happening on my mac. Its almost as if my spacebar is continually being pressed and i cant type anything. I tried deleting the update as well as rebooting but as soon as the mac starts up the problems occurs. Its so bad now that i cant even type in my password to log into my mac. If anyone can hlep it would be appreciated, As i said its almost as if my spacebar is being pressed the whole time. Ive tried checking if any of the keys are depressed but i cant see anything noticable. I opened up a text doc and no characters show up but the cursor just scrolls to the right.

Hmmm there might be ill have to check when i get home. Didnt think of that but thanks for your help. Ill keep you updated.

• When I select a local adjustment, how do I make the new adjustment panel scroll with the default panels

In lightroom, in the Develop module. When I select a local adjustment for example the brush tool or the gradient tool, the adjustment panel for the particular tool comes up in the sidebar where I can make adjustments to these tools (shown in figure below).
Now my question is with this adjustment panel, it seems to be overlaying on top of the other default adjustments (e.g. the "Basic panel" - the exposure, contrast etc.) and when I scroll down on the other adjustments, the brush tool or the gradient tool adjustment panel is always on top and does not scroll with the default adjustments.
I would like to change the setting of this so that the adjustment panel is part of the other default adjustments in the develop module and scrolls with them,
I know this is possible because I've seen videos online where this is the case and my lightroom on another machine does this.
Would anyone know how would I change the setting for this?

It seems to depend on the actual size of the Lightroom window. Just messing around with both LRCC and LR5 on my MBP 15" retina, with a 1920 x 1200 external monitor, and both Lightroom versions will happily scroll the Adjustments panel as well as the others, but only if the size (i.e. height) of the Lightroom window is below a certain level. So on the retina screen, when the display is set to "Best for Retina", the adjustments panel scrolls with the others. But if I change to the native 2880 screen resolution, and expand the LR window to fit, then the adjustments panel does not scroll.
Similarly if I move LR to the external monitor, same thing, i.e. adjustments panel does NOT scroll when the LR window in maximised, but it does scroll when I lower the height of the LR window (seems to be round about the 1600 pixel mark)
It's the same using LR5, and the same on the Windows platform. I suspect it's somehow based on the height of the adjustments panel in relation to the overall height of the LR window, i.e. the adjustments panel does not scroll when there's sufficient overall space in the right-hand panel to allow sight of the one or more of the other tools below.

When mousing over text, the cursor flickers constantly (with every letter passed) from arrow to i-beam and back. The problem occurs in both MS Word 2011 and Pages. Any idea of how to solve this annoying problem will be much appreciated. System 10.10.1 on a MacPro (Late 2013)

The mouse is controlled by the OS so don't guess any app other than a mouse driver or OS X itself would be able to cause this sort of flicker issue.
Have you seen the following and is it what you are seeing? Maybe you could make a movie (Quicktime is great for this this to make a screen recording) - but not sure how to attach a movie to these discussions as mine is grayed out and can't be selected (to the right of the insert image). Here is the what I found for a search of "mouse cursor flickers os x yosemite"

What kind of mouse are you using? Is the mouse driver up to date if it's a third party mouse?

• When watching youtube the video randomly jumps to the start of the video even if the cursor is not on the video.

When watching youtube the video randomly jumps to the start of the video even if the cursor is not on the video. This happens randomly and does not seem to be a problem with the videos as they run fine. what is going on?

Several times every day YouTube shuts down some of their servers to update stuff. Be patient if YouTube is slow, stuck or mangled. Transmissions from YouTube to your computer are done in multiple tiny packets of data and flash at a time. That's why sometimes you may get any of these scenarios: bits and pieces of text/thumbnails in weird places; sluggish loading/buffering; the spinning circle going on forever; or the player being blank. This problem could fix itself within a few hours or by the next day.
If your YouTube continues to behave slow, stuck or strange, it's very possible that your directories of "temporary internet files" and RAM (sometimes known as "cache") are close to the maximum and just cannot take anymore, the end result being any of the above scenarios or videos that: A) come to a complete freeze; B) start/stop/start/stop in a choppy way; or C) never even make it onto your screen.
"Temporary internet files" are tiny bits of webpages that get permanently put on your hard-drive. They will remain forever on your computer, gradually plugging it up like hair stuck in a sink drain, until you finally get rid of them once and for all. Thus, exit out of YouTube, then clear your "cache" of all its "temporary internet files", "cookies" and "history". It is best if you shutdown and reboot afterwards. You'll be amazed at how "fresh" and "new" your YouTube will be.

• Double-click on a page causes Firefox to jump back a page instead of highlighting at the insertion point

I have a Logitech iFeel MouseMan. The side button is set up for double-click. Sometimes instead of highlighting at the cursor position the tab jumps back one page. (That is, it acts as if I had clicked the back button at the left of the address bar.) This anomalous behavior does not happen if I physically double-click with the mouse's left button. This anomaly happened about a year ago and a Google search turned up a Firefox configuration setting that fixed the problem. Now I can't find that setting and a Google search provides no answers. I solved the problem by resetting my computer to an earlier reset point, but that is an inelegant solution -- and it takes hours. (The problem is not happening now. I ask for the future.) I would prefer to make the problem go away by changing the appropriate Firefox setting. Logitech told me that the problem is not with the mouse nor its software, but with Firefox and that I should ask Firefox experts.

Thanks for your response.
I guess I didn't revert to as far back as the change I had made because when I follow your instructions, no entries are bold.
Or did you perhaps mean the next time the problem occurs I should look for a bold entry? And then change it back to what it was? (All that I recall from a year ago was that I changed one entry from ''true'' to ''false'', or vice versa.)

• Illustrator CS6: Missing small pixels box that should follow the cursor when creating objects

Somehow I've managed to disable a feature in Illustrator CS6 that does two things: 1) it causes a small box to follow the cursor when I'm drawing an object 2) the light green lines or x's are gone now, too. How can I get them back? Are they only visible under certain circumstances? Thanks!

I have several layers for my image: Background, Moon, Tree, Grass and Clouds. When I try to use the Move tool to move the Moon, the tool jumps to the Tree layer. The same thing happens with the other layers as well (except the background layer). How can I keep the move tool from jumpimg to the Tree layer?

1. Pre-select (highlight) the layer to move in the Layers panel. or-
2. [ALT+Right mouse click] to select the wanted layer in the image window.
and maybe
3. Set the PS option to "Auto-select" a layer with cursor hover. (can be very confusing!)

• Long vertical forms that scroll with the tabbing to keep cursor on screen

I have a tall vertical form that is roughly 2000px in height.
If the user tabs through the fields they will 'fall off' the bottom
of the screen. Meaning, the cursor will move to a field out of view
but the scrollbar will not nudge down automatically to compensate
and keep the cursor in view. Ideally the scrollbars would move with
the cursor as they do when tabbing through a traditional html form.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

I have had to do this very thing myself. Kinda wish it were
part of the normal framework...
anyway, here is an example application that does what you are
trying to do:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<mx:Application xmlns:mx="
http://www.adobe.com/2006/mxml">
<mx:Script>
<![CDATA[
private function checkPos(target:Object=null):void {
var yPos:Number = target.y+target.height;
debug.text = "";
var shiftAmt:Number = 0;
if (yPos>cont.verticalScrollPosition+cont.height) {
shiftAmt = yPos-(cont.verticalScrollPosition+cont.height);
debug.text+="move down: "+shiftAmt+"\n";
} else if (yPos<=cont.verticalScrollPosition) {
shiftAmt = yPos-(cont.verticalScrollPosition+target.height);
debug.text+="move up: "+shiftAmt+"\n";
cont.verticalScrollPosition+=shiftAmt;
debug.text+="yPos: "+yPos+" view space:
"+cont.verticalScrollPosition+" -
"+(cont.verticalScrollPosition+cont.height);
]]>
</mx:Script>
<mx:Text id="debug" width="200" height="200" />
<mx:Canvas id="cont" width="200" height="200">
<mx:Button label="blorch1" y="0"
focusIn="checkPos(event.currentTarget)" height="20" />
<mx:TextInput focusIn="checkPos(event.currentTarget)"
y="100" height="20" />
<mx:Button label="blorch2" y="200"
focusIn="checkPos(event.currentTarget)" height="20" />
<mx:TextInput focusIn="checkPos(event.currentTarget)"
y="300" height="20" />
<mx:Button label="blorch3" y="400"
focusIn="checkPos(event.currentTarget)" height="20" />
</mx:Canvas>
</mx:Application>
If your form has a TON of controls, then you might want to
just make a function to automatically attach the listener in
actionscript... dunno which is easier. Writing onFocus="blahblah"
for each component is a drag but it's simple...
If there is an easier way to do this, I hope someone will say
so because this is how I have to do it and it's not very
fun.

• I want the cursor to be in the address bar when creating a new window; it works for new tabs and in a new private window, but not in safe mode.

I have tried following the advice offered in the few different threads I have found on this but nothing fixes it. I want the cursor to be in the address bar when I open a new window and/or when firefox opens without restoring a previous session. I fixed the issue for new tabs via about:config but this doesn't work for new windows. I tried safe mode and the problem persists. In new private windows the cursor is in the address bar.

The search box in about:home steals the cursor. Changing your home page to something else will cause the cursor to start in the address bar for new windows.
