Interactive image in "Life on Earth" iBook

Hi,
Someone knows how did they make the interactive image "Cutaway of Human Femur" p.77 of Life on Earth iBook. Do you think they used Dashcode or is there an easiest way to make it? Thank you very much!

It is "Life on Earth" from E.O. Wilson's Life on Earth. The Unit 4: Guided Tour of Physiological Systems and Section 1: Skeletons and Support. P.77. Maybe you don't have the last version? I paid 1.99$ for the iBook. I think it is the best iBook I find in terms of interactive features!

How can I create a interactive image on ibook author, just like the temperatures map on the "life on earth" book?

I know it is possible as E O Wilson's - Life On Earth displays it, but how do you place images across multiple pages in iBook Author?

I have a large image that I would like to span across 2 or possibly more pages in iBook Author. I know that it is possible as you can see it in the above mentioned E O Wilson's Life On Earth. However at the moment when I place an image in the position required it simply displays it on one of the pages. Any help with this issue would be greatfully recieved.

You'd need to split the image into two, then place the left 1/2 on one page and the right 1/2 on the next, side-by-side.
Disable Portrait orientation for the book via the Inspector.

Ibooks Life on Earth crash?

I was downloading Life on Earth interactive iBook and my ipad 1 crashed and went black for at least 6 minutes. I thought it had gone for good.
Maybe these interactive books should not be installed on Ipad 1. I have 3.5GB free so thats not the problem.
Anyone had this problem?

Tried 'killing' the app and even removing and re-adding, but no success. I then turned to portrait mode and everything appeared. It was then OK when re-opening, even in landscape mode. Maybe that's the way to do it(?)
(BTW, I only have 1.8 GB of free space)

Blurry Photos in Photo gallery and Interactive image widget--(iBooks Author)

The pictures that I put in my photogallery and in my interactive image widget were at first clear and would get bigger when I tapped on them (in preview mode on my iPad), and then all of the sudden, they all are blurry, and now when I tap on them, they don't get bigger/zoom! How do I fix this??

The iBook is about 80 pages, and there is an average of one widget per page, sometimes 2. There are a few galleries in which there are more than one picture, but many of them are simply with one picture (because this is the only way to make it get bigger when you tap on it when on the iPad). For the Interactive Image widgets, I took a screenshot of a google maps route, and then focused on different stops to show directions on my iBook. I just redid all of the photo galleries that were blurry, and they are fixed now (no longer blurry). BUT the interactive images are still blurry....maybe I just need to go back and redo them?

IBooks Author ( interactive image )

Hi to everyone,
I have a problem with an interactive image in iBooks Author. i've added the image in .jpg format and all the interactive "buttons" with own interactivity zoom for each one. When I test it on the working area, it works correctly even it's quite slow, but once I preview it on mac book pro or ipad, it doesn't work as shown in the working area. when i click on bottom to see the details, it becomes white. Who can help me?

IBooks problem with Life On Earth

Having a problem with IBooks. All the books I have downloaded work except for LIfe on Earth - the free download from Apple. The error message is "It is formatted incorrectly or is not in a format that IBooks can open" What to do? Have deleted and reinstalled numerous times with same error. Other books not affected. (says Ibook 2 is downloaded but doesnt say installed. Again, what to do?

IBook author interactive image label: graphic control is locked?

The interactive image lets you adjust the frame and background, but not the labels nor end the point styles! The ability is there but it is locked! Here's a screen shot showing the 'greyed out' control options. Is there a trick to enable the capability? Or is it on the debug list for the next update?

When I was last working with this widget and came across the same issue.
The only way to try and control it was by adding in character returns to change the height and to stretch the box out by the handles at the left and right of the box itself. But yes it would be great to have more control over the the parameters.

Labels with interactive image on ibook author

Is there a way for the labels on the interactive image to hide, until the object it is associated with is touched?

If you intend to build a book for use on iPad you are obligated to use the iOS compatible fonts from the toolbar font menu pulldown, not the main font menu.

How to make timeline interactive images?

Regarding "Life on Earth", keep getting msg. 'Unable to Download'

Regarding "Life on Earth", downloaded it now every time I open up IBooks I get the msg. 'Unable to Download " E.O. Wilson's Life on Earth" Retry or download later from the store' . I have a couple of times. also deleted and reloaded Ibooks? Taken it out of by books inventory but still get msg.

I had some trouble along those lines when I downloaded that free book on iBook2. It is a very LARGE file that takes some time to download. Could be the server is busy or overloaded. Also, if I recall that when I first downloaded it and then it LOOKED like it had finished downloading...it hadn't yet. The cue is when the book is finally ready to use, a "NEW" banner appears on its cover in iBooks. I don't know if that helps at all. Good luck.

Full Screen Interactive Images?

Apple's video demo of the interactive images widget (as seen on this page: http://www.apple.com/ibooks-author/gallery.html ) shows the image opening full screen when clicked. I cannot make this happen. The 'full-screen' option is always disabled in the widget editor, and all interactivity occurs within the confines of the page. Any idea how to make iBooks Author deliver the result shown in this demo? Thanks.

When you place your 'Interactive Image' Widget onto your page...when you Preview/View on your iPad simple pinch to fully zoom the 'Interactive Image'.. TAP the X in the upper left to close full view mode.
I suppose you would think a double tap would bring you to full screen mode...but that could be a bad feature for interactivity where readers don't realize its interactive or a static type image.

Change colors of interactive image controls

I seem to be having a problem with the interactive image widget in iBooks author. In the software, and under the template I'm working with, i added some interactive image widgetsvwith always-on controls. Now the controls niceley integrate wth the template by adopting a light blue color.
However, when i preview the book on my iPad, the controls are dispayed in black which is, in my opinion, much uglier thannblue for this specific template, do you know how this csn be changed ?

I suspect this repsonse is somewhat mis-leading, the code has no effect on the control other than setting its state, although the route is somewhat tedious for the mod.
I would imagine that the control is set up so that the pixels didn't move around when they are being used as controls.
There are nested groups and locks on the controls, which might make the ordering in the cluster easier to manage.
The following should work....... ;-) it did for me
Open your own new VI
Open the main LCD VI
Open the Browse VI Hierachy
Drag and drop the LCD VI onto your own diagram
Create a cluster from the LCD VI's connector
Now ungroup the clusters and unlock them (this is tedious) if you create your own then you could be more imaginative in the structure, I leave that for homework.
Then import a new bitmap (gif) into the control
Now update the modified contol back into the master control
........ Told you it could be done, but I am not sure the pain was worth it.
BUT
Try the alternative control..... with colour settings as well, ANY colour and even some size control.
