Interactive Mobile Prototyping in Photoshop?

I'm designing a mobile app and need to build in interactive prototype.  I ran accross this PS plugin/app -  http://www.getcomposite.com/.  Looks pretty great and maybe exactly what I need.  Does anyone have experience with this?
I *prefer* to use photoshop rather than learning a new application.
Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Trying again.

  • Jive mobile  - url for photoshop general discussion

IPhone has an app jive that i could hopefully use to access this very forum from my mobile devices if i can learn what the URL is for this forum.
Anyone have suggestion what is link i am suppose to use to set this app for use of photoshop forum

I happened to have a web view still open in Safari on my retired iPhone 3G and it refreshed into the Jive Mobile view upon establishing a connection to wifi...
The Photoshop Windows forum took a loooong time to come up, and interacting with the thing remained very slow.  Unusably slow.  It even takes a large fraction of a second to scroll the screen, or to turn if one turns the iPhone sideways, and at least 10 seconds to display a thread one clicks on.  Jive surely does make some inefficient software!
Other than that threads seem readable enough, but I agree - it sure would be nice to force it to a normal desktop view.  At least that's interactive!

  • Why no mobile apps for Photoshop for Android products?

Why did Adobe only make mobile apps for Apple iPhone and iPad and not android for Photoshop CC and Lightroom?  I have an Android phone and pad and feel this is unjust as I pay for this service in my monthly bill: seems more than unfair and unjust to me. Is anything being done to correct this upside down situation?

I have that App on my Android.  Unfortunately it doesn’t interact with Photoshop CC 2014 or Lightroom as the one Adobe made for the iPhone and iPad.  I wish it did.  Besides, we ARE paying for the use of an unusable app.  I, personally, feel like Adobe is being prejudice and I don’t like that.
Sorry I don’t know how to answer this on the forums.  I looked but could not see anything or anyplace I could post.

But regular Photoshop will run on a MacBook Air.

  • Fireworks Limitations for Photoshop Users

This little bit of reading might be of interest to those more accustomed to the interactivity that used to exist between Photoshop and Image Ready.  This comes directly from the Fireworks manual.
Individual layer masks convert to Fireworks object masks. Group masks are unsupported.
Clipping masks convert to object masks, but their appearance changes slightly. To maintain appearance but lose editability, select the Clipping Masks preference.
Blending modes for layers convert to blending modes for Fireworks objects, if corresponding modes exist.
Layer effects are retained by default. If you prefer to convert these effects to corresponding Live Filters, select the Layer Effects preference. Note, however, that similar effects and filters might differ slightly in appearance.
The first alpha channel in the Channels palette converts to transparent areas in the Fireworks image. Fireworks does not support additional Photoshop alpha channels.
All Photoshop color depths and modes convert to 8-bit RGB.
    Adjustment layers are unsupported.
The help manual should have made clarifications.  Especially if your were forced to use Fireworks.  I speak to those having used a Photoshop to Image Ready workflow for all those glorious years when a task was easier.
    1.  Say good bye to your Group Masks.  Object masks are not as powerful, or useful, as layer masks are in Photoshop.
    2.  The appearances of clipping masks change drastically.  Do not even attempt to use an image if you have a clipping image
and expect it to be exported for use as a web graphic.  Fireworks muddles the final image with blurry edges.
    3.  In any case where your Photoshop image uses blending modes expect that Fireworks will not have the corresponding mode.
Do expect the results to be not as clear as in the original image.
    4.  Layer effects ARE NOT retained, they are MERGED into the layer.  Open a Photoshop created image using layer effects (drop
shadow, stroke, etc.).  Your effects have become merged into the latter.  Never, never save your PSD or TIF file from within Fireworks.
You will lose all editability, FOREVER!
    5.  Fireworks Live Filters are a sorry, sorry instance of the powerful layer effects of Photoshop.  Each and every instance tried to date has
shown Fireworks' iteration of filters to be different from those in use in Photoshop.
    6.  If you use your own patterns in Photoshop say good-bye to them.  Fireworks gives you no way to use your own.  Only a limited
subset of those pre-packaged with Photoshop.
    6.  Since Fireworks does not support adjustment layers, masks, paths, etc., then what happened to cross program support and
         interactivity which Adobe praises?
Why in tarnation does Fireworks support metadata in a web graphic?  Yes, the PNG file format allows for this.  Export a TIF or PSD containing metadata information from Photoshop to a PNG file.  Look at the file in Bridge.  It has no information.  If you do export a set of images using a batch operation you will find that some of the new PNG files cannot contain metadata.
View the generated PNGs in Bridge.  Apply a metadata template.  You will find that some of the files will not accept the template.  You will have to individually re-export the image.  The reason I mention this normal Photoshop to Bridge workflow is because Fireworks' Help is touting it without explaining that not in all cases does it work.
If you are coming over from Macromedia then you are used to a what was once an extremely good program.  Say good-bye to it.  If you were used to Image Ready — Good Luck!  At least it never crashed for no reason.  If you are new to Adobe then expect limited 60 day support and a company looking only at your bank account.
Adobe needs to go ahead and kill this app and include its best features into Photoshop as they have done in the past.  Then get back to allowing prototyping in Photoshop and web graphic generation as an export feature as it once was!  I don't need two prototyping programs.  What I do need is a simple, easy method of getting my Photoshop designs to the web.

Yes, Linda Nicholls is right. You will find FW better than PS.
I also use FW only for anytype of graphics.

  • FAQ: How do I use Revel with the Elements 12 Organizer (Mobile Albums)?

FAQ: How do I use Revel with Photoshop Elements 12 Mobile Albums?
Photoshop Elements lets you upload your media to Adobe® Revel and then access it from any device. Media already present in your Revel libraries is downloaded into Elements Organizer, so that you can work with it. Adobe Revel is an app that lets you store your media in the cloud and share it privately or publicly. See the links below for additional informtion about using Elements 11 and Premiere Elements 12 with Revel.
If you check the option to make all your Elements photos and videos available in Mobile Albums, then Elements will move everything over to Mobile Albums, and upload it all to your Revel Library. Note that with mobile albums if you delete an image it will be deleted inElements and Revel.
If you have some mobile albums that you only want in elements and you have already made them mobile albums, there is a way to move them back. You can drag and drop a mobile album onto a local category. Media in the mobile album is downloaded as it exists in Revel and stored locally. Subsequentally, the downloaded media is deleted from Revel. You can select one or more of the photos in the Elements Organizer and right click on one of them and select Remove From Revel at the bottom of the list. That will move them out of Revel, and keep them in the Elements Organizer.

Also, bear in mind that few users of the full version of Photoshop are familiar with Photoshop Elements or Organizer, so many of us won't even know exactly what you mean.
I have to get back on this, Just recently bought Elements and Premiere for Mac (actually more for fun and possible use for a minor workshop, not for my professional workflow) and only had a short glance at it.
Just glanced at it again (still briefly) but there is a difference that you can't use in Bridge.  Organizer has some shortcuts to fix images and creates a new version of the original.
This is not possible in Bridge. Also the Output Module in Bridge has a different approach to the create section in Organizer.
For me Bridge is the right tool and I'm sure "tweetybird" will benefit also after having learned a bit.
Especially the menu tools/Photoshop and the options in there will give better results (and far more control) to 'fix' ( I rather speak of optimize ) files to your satisfaction
But If you still need options from the create section that you will not have in the Output Module there is no objection to use Organizer for this by pointing it to the folder with finished files.
Its just a matter of the right tool for the right job

  • Do I need adobe CC subscription for using photoshop touch for ipad

Do I need adobe CC subscription for using photoshop touch for ipad?

No, Photoshop Touch is a different software and isn't part of Adobe's Creative Cloud (CC) series of software you can get with their monthly subscription.
Photoshop Touch is a mobile version of Photoshop you can get for just $9.99, and then you'll have it for life.
It's a great, must-have tool in my opinion, but it's very limited and won't give you all the things you would get with a regular Photoshop desktop-version, like the one you get when you subscribe to Creative Cloud.

im having trouble saving photoshopped imsges onto my samsung tablet any ideas ?

I have no knowledge of the Android OS.  I do have an iPod and its OS iOS is not really comparable my Windows  OS.  The iPod does mount as a dive on windows and the iPod camera roll is accessible. The jpes images can be copied to my pc.  However the PC does not have access to the iOS file system even apple user don't have real access the iOS file system.   Image need to be synced between the iPod and PC through iTunes sync.  Itunes messes with your PC images and creates some sort of image database and syncs that database between PC and Apple mobile devices.  There are also apps that help you share file between PC and Apple mobile devices.  I have no idea how files are shared between PC Operating Systems platform versions and Android OS versions.  Photoshop may not be able to save to Android files system.  Photoshop Can not save to Apple mobile devices. Photoshop may be able to save to Apple's Mac unix file system through some form of network share.
How does one share files between Android devices and PC OS devices?

  • Interactive Photomerge Problems (CS5)

I am attempting to stitch together a large x-ray that I have scanned in sections from original films.  However, when I attempt to merge these films using the interactive photomerge plug-in, Photoshop starts doing all sorts of crazy things.  My personal favorite is the Photoshop Error 8800 message I receive almost every other time I attempt to merge more than 2 films. (It says the command "Close" is not currently available).  They are large files, but when I reduce their size and attempt to merge again, the films do not match up and cannot merge.  Another problem is that in the photomerge workspace, Photoshop will resize a film on it's own while merging the others just fine. Even though they are all the same size, I will have one or two in the workspace that appear smaller and thus cannot be stitched together with the rest of the films.  Does anybody know what my problem is?  I'm not sure if it's because my files are too large or what. Any help would be much, (much!) appreciated.

    Hi there
What version of Photoshop are you using? To use the Interactive Photomerge function, you'll need to download the Optional Plug-ins.
    CS5 optional plug-ins (Mac)
    CS5 optional plug-ins (Windows)
I do not beleive that the option plug-ins have been released for CS6 yet, but I will check on that.
I am taking this answer from this past post:

  • Photomerge: Is this REALLY all Photoshop can do?

I tried to use photomerge in Photoshop, and the results were ridiculous.  I have a friend who has an iPhone, and I have an Android.  He uses a simple panaroma tool on the iPhone, and I downloaded a photomerge app for the Android.  The results were incredible.
I took a bunch of snapshots to see how Photoshop could handle it, and this is the laughable result: http://oi49.tinypic.com/de0get.jpg  (notice all the banding).
First photoshop removes thumbnails, then no one can properly use the new oil painting filter, and then simple FREE apps for mobile phones outperform Photoshop.
Come on Adobe -- get it sorted.

Please take a series of 6 or 7 HD photos (3264x2448 for example) and let me know how it turns out.  As mentioned, the free mobile apps can create a panorama in seconds and it's seamless.
I'm not interested in 72dpi 800x600 goofy images.
    Noel:  Do the same.
"HD photos (3264x2448 for example)"?  My images are 6144 x 4096 pixels at 16 bits/channel, Adam. I don't work with little stuff.
The wider panorama I showed above was from nine such images.  Here's the result just after Photomerge completed, done with Cylindrical and Auto settings.  Note the pixel dimensions listed for the stitching result.
Here are another couple of examples, including one that contains a lot of water, which is traditionally difficult for stitching software.
Something's specifically wrong on your end if you're not getting good blending.  Photoshop is clearly capable.  Either you have a resource shortage or you're not using the right settings, or maybe your vignetting is so egregious it can't compensate (which you can fix by using appropriate settings in Camera Raw).
As far as I can see it's not important whether you have too much overlap.
Do you have literally hundreds of GB free on your scratch drive?  Photomerge has been known to use that much.  It used 91GB doing the above.

  • Navigation Menu

Ahh, the good old days when you could design your navigation bar in Photoshop with all your rollover and down images and then pop over to Image Ready and really get to work!  A much simpler, and inherently easier, method of accomplishing a task!!!
I have designed my graphic in Photoshop CS4 with all my over and down layers.  It also has all the slices I need.  Is there some tutorial online for taking this image and applying states to it in Firepuke?  I don't want no stinkin' protopuking, I can do that very well in Photoshop thank you very much.
I just want to take my navigation bar and create my HTML so I can plug it in to my Dreamweaver design.  And of course Adobe's Classroom in a Book does not have a chapter showing how to take a navigation bar created in Photoshop and create HTML from it.  Fireworks treats Photoshop as a "picture" supplier only.
The image in question can be viewed here and thank you in advance for any assistance.
I do not want to use Fireworks as the basis for my design because the layer and filter options within Fireworks are very limiting.  The results look amateurish and atrocious compared to the smoothness of the available filters in Photoshop. I can also use filters created by others in Photoshop.  You cannot do so in Fireworks.  Why use subsets of the tools already available in Photoshop?
I would love to chat with the imbecilic person at Adobe who thought a Photoshop to Fireworks workflow was better than one utilizing Photoshop to Image Ready.  Prototyping in Photoshop results in more aesthetically pleasing creations.  Talk about trying to reinvent the wheel.  The results in Fireworks are more akin to an octagon-shaped Fred Flintstone wheel styled by Hanna-Barbera.
Heaven forbid if you create something in Photoshop, port it over to Fireworks and then try to reopen the same PSD file in Photoshop.  So much for program interactivity.
P.S.  And in case you have not noticed the PNG files created in Fireworks are, comparatively, bloated in size compared to those exported by Photoshop.  Test it yourself!  Can I at least have back my Ctrl+F4 key stroke combination?  The days of Ctrl+W went the way of the Dodo bird.  The use of the Control and W keys is for writing a file, not closing a file.
P.S.S.  Sorry for the assualt on the senses for those who enjoy Fireworks. <grin>

As for differences in how the file looks, change the Maintain
Editability setting to Maintain Photoshop Layer appearance. You'll
retain the layers but flatten the effects. This will give you pretty
much an identical look. And you always have the original Photoshop
file to go back to if you want to tweak the layer styles.
Putting all your "states" into PS layers is where the real problem is,
I think. I realize you don't have much of an alternative when created
this type of thing in PS. The two applications are not the same; they
    have different workflows.
Ideally build out the states in Fireworks, rather than having them as
hidden layers in PS. I realize you're not happy with Fireworks base
Live Filters, but when you open the PSD in FW using Maintain
Editability, it should maintain your existing layer styles as PS Live
FIlters. If you choose the Photoshop Layer Appearance, your effects
will be an exact match because they're flattened into the object.
As an aside, there are MANY third part filters which work with
    Fireworks.
Fireworks has a feature called button symbols which give you the
opportunity to create up to four states for each button.
In your case though another option might be easier. You can
distribute some of your layers to states.
Typically the order of button states is Up, Over, Down and Over While
down. So your layer states are not in the correct order for a quick
distribution, but it's not undoable. Will it take some time and a
little bit of dancing? Yes. But if you're up for it I'll be happy to
detail the process for you, if you are interested in learning.
    If you read my book, Fireworks CS4 Classroom in a Book, I'm sorry it didn't give you the answer to your specific problem;
but no book answers every question. There are a limited number of
pages for a given book and decisions have to be made about what to
include and what to exclude. But, I'm happy to help here if you like,
as are many other talented people.
BTW, you can add your own images to the FW Patterns folder - or point
FW to a supplemental Patterns folder via the preferences panel. That
might help you make use of some of the textures and patterns you've been using in
    Photoshop.

  • Difference in Flash

Please help me understand the difference between these two and if the editing functions are the same:
    1. macromedia MX Flash
    2. Flash 8
    Thanks.

this is copied from wikipedia ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adobe_Flash )
FutureSplash Animator (April 10, 1996): initial version of Flash with basic editing tools and a timeline
Macromedia Flash 1 (November 1996): a Macromedia re-branded version of the FutureSplash Animator
Macromedia Flash 2 (June 1997): Released with Flash Player 2, new features included: the object library
Macromedia Flash 3 (May 31, 1998): Released with Flash Player 3, new features included: the movieclip element, JavaScript plug-in integration, transparency and an external stand alone player
Macromedia Flash 4 (June 15, 1999): Released with Flash Player 4, new features included: internal variables, an input field, advanced ActionScript, and streaming MP3
Macromedia Flash 5 (August 24, 2000): Released with Flash Player 5, new features included: ActionScript 1.0 (based on ECMAScript, making it very similar to JavaScript in syntax), XML support, Smartclips (the precursor to components in Flash), HTML text formatting added for dynamic text
Macromedia Flash MX (as version 6, released on March 15, 2002): Released with Flash Player 6, new features included: a video codec (Sorenson Spark), Unicode, v1 UI Components, compression, ActionScript vector drawing API
Macromedia Flash MX 2004 (as version 7, released September 9, 2003): Released with Flash Player 7, new features included: Actionscript 2.0 (which enabled an object-oriented programming model for Flash)(although it lacked the Script assist function of other versions, meaning Actionscript could only be typed out manually), behaviors, extensibility layer (JSAPI), alias text support, timeline effects. Macromedia Flash MX Professional 2004 included all Flash MX 2004 features, plus: Screens (forms for non-linear state-based development and slides for organizing content in a linear slide format like PowerPoint), web services integration, video import wizard, Media Playback components (which encapsulate a complete MP3 and/or FLV player in a component that may be placed in an SWF), Data components (DataSet, XMLConnector, WebServicesConnector, XUpdateResolver, etc) and data binding APIs, the Project Panel, v2 UI components, and Transition class libraries.
Macromedia Flash 8 (released on September 13, 2005): Macromedia Flash Basic 8, a less feature-rich version of the Flash authoring tool targeted at new users who only want to do basic drawing, animation and interactivity. Released with Flash Player 8, this version of the product has limited support for video and advanced graphical and animation effects. Macromedia Flash Professional 8 added features focused on expressiveness, quality, video, and mobile authoring. New features included Filters and blend modes, easing control for animation, enhanced stroke properties (caps and joins), object-based drawing mode, run-time bitmap caching, FlashType advanced anti-aliasing for text, On2 VP6 advanced video codec, support for alpha transparency in video, a stand-alone encoder and advanced video importer, cue point support in FLV files, an advanced video playback component, and an interactive mobile device emulator.
Adobe Flash CS3 Professional (as version 9, released on April 16, 2007): Flash CS3 is the first version of Flash released under the Adobe name. CS3 features full support for ActionScript 3.0, allows entire applications to be converted into ActionScript, adds better integration with other Adobe products such as Adobe Photoshop, and also provides better Vector drawing behavior, becoming more like Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Fireworks.
Adobe Flash CS4 Professional (as version 10, released on October 15, 2008): Contains inverse kinematics (bones), basic 3D object manipulation, object-based animation, an enhanced text engine, and further expansions to ActionScript 3.0. CS4 allows the developer to more efficiently and quickly create animations with many improved features that were not included in previous versions.

    1. I am looking for an app to quickly resize photos using keyboard shortcuts, i.e. Control + R, just like I can do with Irfanview in Windows.
    2. I am looking for an app which will quickly resize multiple photos like I can do with Irfanview.

Photoshop Elements has the ability to sync and save photos in Adobe Revel with the use of mobile albums. Photoshop Elements is a consumer product that is not included in creative cloud. Photoshop is the professional photo editing app that is included in Creative Cloud.
