Interactive News Letter

We want to start an interactive news letter in pdf format, we want to have video, audio and flash animations in the news letter, can I do this with In Design ? I tried inserting video but on export the video did not show. Any Ideas I have the full cs4 suite, I also have adobe acrobat pro with Livecycle and quarkxpress I must be able to make one even fireworks can do a book but can i add all the elements I want ?

You add video to the exported PDF. Do a search of interactive newsletters. You may want to export to swf instead of pdf. File will be much smaller. Embedded video and sound in a PDF will result in a huge doc.

Offensive news letter!!!!!!

How to Start a News Letter

Hi, I'm looking to start a news letter on my site. I have the
email addresses of the users that want to receive the news letters
however, I need to figure out how to program a page that would send
the same email to all the email addresses saved in my database.

As always, there are several solutions to the problem. A
simple one is:
1. Create a table with the newsletter texts (so that the
users can add new newsletters and send them out)
2. Make a query with the users to receive the newsletter
3. Make a query with the text you want to send out
4. Use CFMAIL with a query attribute to loop through the
query with the users
5. Within the body of the CFMAIL tag display the content of
the newsletter text to be added to the email
I'm sure there other and better practices out there - but
that's one that will work well for a smaller scale project. Don't
forget error catching as cfmail will fail if the email address is
in an invalid format (i.e. thisHasA [email protected]).

Well I received mine this morning and it has a lot of info on it that I see that a lot of people here are asking about. And if you don't see it when you 1st open, if you dig deeper you just might find your answer.

Developing a News Letter

We have a Class that sends out a news letter every quarter and I would like to use Adobe to send it out via E-M to all memebers how can that be done'

What program do you use to create your newsletter? If you use one of the file formats listed here, then you could use CreatePDF to convert your newsetter to PDF. Once it is in PDF format, you can email it to members or post it on Acrobat.com.

News Letter style Columns

i'm trying to create a letter style Columns Report with 4 columns and 0 CoumnSpacing
when i run this report with report viewer it goes well with column Spacing while trying to run with report document displays
with original report column spacing default value

Are you using SQL Server Reporting Services to create the report?
What’s the meaning of column spacing? Is a property in the report designer?
What’s the meaning of report document?
Could you post the screen shot about your report design and desired result?

I photo 8 will new let me sync a cropped picture to Apple TV. (16x9)

Now that I have Iphoto 8 I can't get apple TV to sync a cropped (16x9) Help!

I did not experience this problem. I tried cropping a photo to 16:9, put it in an album then synced it. I was able to display the photon on the Apple TV.
Do you have any more information on this?

First you need to install the Asia group languages on the server . Then you need to alter all columns that have VARCHAR(n) to NVARCHAR(n). I do not think it is possible without adding N to get it working...

News letter e-mail

Up until this week I have been able to send e-mail to all of our club member listing a blog site to read for daily information. Starting Wednesday I started getting a message than my e-mail can't be sent because it is detected as spam. Once I get that message I can't even resend it to a smaller number of people. I have tried breaking it into 20 members at a time but that doesn't work either. What changed? The total number of people I mail to with the same message is 60.

Verizon's outbound spam filter scans the content of your message, not the number of recipients.
You should read the Spam FAQ page provided in the error. You will not get any response when sending the message to [email protected] for review. You attach the message that you are unable to send, and they review it. Depending on the outcome of the investigation, the filter will either be updated to allow the content that was previously blocked, or it will be determined to be a legitimate block and no changes will be made.
Some troubleshooting steps you can try:
If you have a signature, try removing one line at a time from it and attempting to send the message again. Some signatures look like "ads" to the filters, apparently.
If you are using a pop3 client (Outlook, Outlook Express, etc.) try sending your message from the verizon.net website. If this resolves the issue, then it is something that your client is adding to the message that is causing it to be blocked.
If the Subject line of your message has a whole bunch of "Fwd: Fwd: Re: Fwd:" try removing some of them.
Remove any links/URLs from the email one at a time to isolate if one of them is causing the block.
If a forum member gives an answer you like, give them the Kudos they deserve. If a member gives you the answer to your question, mark the answer as Accepted Solution so others can see the solution to the problem.

Why can't I change an Interaction ID on a quiz slide?

Using Captivate 6, I can't change the Interaction ID on the quiz slides. I have resaved as a new file, unchecked "Report Answers", but nothing helps. It keeps going back to old numbers. HELP please!

I figured out what may be causing your issue
DO NOT delete a question slide if its interaction id is something you want to use. First change it to something completely pointless like "fdjsdgjkfds".
For some reason, when you delete a question slide with an interaction id (let's say "1"), that interaction id becomes unavailable to any and all slides both present and future (now "1" is unavailable to ALL slides as an interaction id).
Example:
Let's say we duplicated a slide with interaction id "QuizQuestion01". Now we want to take that interaction id and apply it to the new slide but we cant, because its one id to a slide and the slide that was just duplicated still uses it. So we delete the old slide thinking it has freed up "QuizQuestion01" to apply to the new slide. Nope, i'm afraid the slide we just deleted took "QuizQuestion01" with it.
It is as though the slide still exists somewhere in captivate, so captivate keeps trying to tell you that there is still a slide with that interaction id. Possibly the solution lies in finding where captivate is storing that information regarding individual files and their question slides/interaction id's.
So, unfortunately this isnt a cure, but a preventative measure to avoid the problem.
When you are going to delete a question slide, change the interaction id first to something you would never use.

New Animation part of Indesign help please!

Which is very good I must say. I am really interested in the animated element now included in indesign 5.5. One question I do have I couldnt find an answer too is what is the best way to provide a "animated" file to a client who wants something like what is in this tut (slideshow, things flying in, embedded vids, pop outs etc).
In the tut he shows you can export as .fla files and another form of file but will most people have the facilities to open this file and use the animated brochure/news letter?
Any hints on the best way to export. Im guessing you cant export as a pdf as that would be flat layers you couldnt have animation on?!!

The animation effects will only work when exported as a Flash Player SWF, although you can export as a .FLA and edit in Flash if you like but the output from there will still be SWF. InDesigns animations panel is really useful and works really well but if you do add anything like that, you can't export as a PDF or interactive PDF.
SWF is a common player in around 95% of computers so most should be able to play it.
If you only decide on adding a video, you could export that file as a PDF no problem.

My understand is Oracle Database 11g Administrator Certified Professional (OCP) certification is already available via 1z0-050 to those with 10g OCP; to be technically correct IMHO this would make it a new path to the certification rather than a new certification ;-)

New to Solaris - dual boot question

I have been using OpenSolaris on my ThinkPad T400s, dual booting with Windows 7. I want to give Solaris 10 a try. I've had it running in Virtual Box under OS X for a while, and I think I'm comfortable enough to try it out on my ThinkPad. Here is my question: will the Solaris Interactive installer let me install Solaris 10 in my existing OpenSolaris partition? And if it does, will it modify the bootloader so that I can still dual boot with Windows 7? I dont want to have to destroy partitions and re-install Windows. Once its on my hard drive, I can add myself as a user, install the Intel 5300 wireless driver, etc... Anyone have any other issues with Solaris 10 on a T400s?

Okay, well as usually happens, when I resort to help I end up solving my own problem.
In this case however, I still don't have a good grasp of what is going on.
I deleted the partition table with sgdisk --zap-all /dev/sda and then used gdisk to recreate it, specifically setting the code for /dev/sda1 to ef00.
I then reformatted the FAT partition, leaving the other one alone. After mounting /dev/sda1 to /boot and reinstalling linux and grub, I ran:
grub-install --target=x86_64-efi --efi-directory=$esp --bootloader-id=arch_grub --recheck
as described in the wiki, and
grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg
And it worked, including automatically detecting Windows on the other drive. Not sure what went wrong the first time but I'm glad to get it working.
