Interactive PDF acrobat DC ipad

i created a form in InDesign and made it an interactive form in acrobat XI on my desktop.  I have opened up the interactive PDF on my iPad using the Acrobat DC reader app, but cannot fill out the highlighted form fields (i can see the highlighted fields though).
can someone advise on how to make these fields interactive so the form can be filled out for iPad usage?  Thank you.

Adobe Reader 10.3 does not yet support multimedia. None of the free readers I've found support it.
The best PDF reader I've found for the iPad is not free, $US9.99: PDF Expert. It supports multimedia.

  • How to view an Interactive PDF on an iPad?

My PDF uses three types of buttons: (1) buttons that go to next/previous or a desination page; (2) Buttons that show or hide other buttons – all of these are generated entirely from InDesign and, (3) Layer visibility buttons - which are created in InDesign, but the button Action is set in Acrobat. These buttons require Acrobat layers.
I have seen recommendations for other PDF viewers – such as GoodReader – but GoodReader does not support layers. Is there a Viewer that does? Like Acrobat, but that works with iPads?!
Or do I need to export to another format? Or re-create my document in another format? InDesign Folios do not support the buttons I am using; SWF files do not support layers... sigh.
I don't need to send the PDF to other iPads, only view it. (The Document is an interactive company presentation - my boss goes to a lot of conferences and he wants to be able to present to clients from his iPad.)
    Anyone got any bright ideas?!

Sadly, Adobe Reader doesn't support playing videos. You'll need to purchase a better PDF reader, notably PDF Expert from Readdle. US $9.99.

  • How can video of interactive pdf show on Ipad?

Created an interactive pdf in InDesign with a video at the end, H.264 mp4 for Ipad size. THe video will show on the computer but will not show on the Ipad. Downloaded Adobe Reader 10.3 it can see it but will not play. Any ideas of how to get the video to show in the interactive pdf on Ipad?

  • Reading interactive pdfs on an IPad

I did see some old replies to this question back in 2010, I need an updated answer as I need to create an interactive document for the Ipad. So I did a short draft Ibooks Author and of course it works great. Now I'm told I need do also do an interactive document so pc users can see and I can do that with InDesign and import as an interactive pdf. Rather not do two platforms so if I just did an interactive pdf what free apps for the IPad read interactive pdf's

  • Interactive PDF - Buttons don't show on mobile/ipad

    Hello!
I'm creating an ebook. I have two issues I need help with regarding buttons and interactivity.
    1) How do I link an image to a later page?
For example, I'm introducing contributors--but want to offer readers the ability to fast track to their bio page (at the end of the document) and weblinks...
    2) Why are my interactive buttons not showing up on mobile or ipad?
I'm trying to include social icons that link to contributors social channels. Why do these show up and work in Adobe Acrobat Pro--but not on my iphone and ipad?
Here is the link for my PDF (very much a work in progress).

i'm trying to read several interactive pdf on my ipad, but when i touch the screen it ppeares a top bar with "ok" that if i touch it closes the pdf, an upload button, & the thumbnails of the pages on the righ side of the screen appears too. Does anybody know how to avoid it? Thank's

Are you saying that all pages appear blank when you open the particular PDF document (AINF....pdf) in Adobe Reader for iOS?  It may be due to a bug in Adobe Reader for iOS.
You mentioned "links"...There are three different actions that the desktop version of Adobe Reader supports for links.
Go to a page view (within the same document)
    Open a web page
    Open a file
Adobe Reader mobile products (for iOS, Android, Windows Phone) support the first two but does not support opening a PDF file or any other types of files.
Additionally, hyperlinks are not visible in Adobe Reader mobile products.  (It used to show hyperlinks in light blue highlight.  But due to customer complaints, hyperlink highlighting has been disabled.)
Please let us know if you can share your PDF document with us (Adobe).  We can take a look at it and diagnose the cause of the problem.  Thank you.

He says, a neutral grey is Set, When all 4 Values of c,m,y and k are the Same?
    Seriously?
Embarassing Mistake in this Video. Has anybody from Adobe watched and cleared this? How in the World Couleur this Guy become adobe Certified whatever.
For neutral grey you'd use the k value only.
In RGB a neutral grey is Set with Same amount of r,g and be.
Depending on your profiles and on the colours, a neutral gray in CMYK Would have more Cyan than Magenta and yellow.
Just Take a neutral grey in RGB and let Photoshop change it to CMYK. And have a Look at the Result.

  • Help! InDesign interactive PDF buttons not working in Safari or on iPad

I made an infographic in Indesign for our university magazine with a QR code to link to an interactive pdf. Nothing too complicated animation wise, simply buttons that you can click on to view different parts of the graphic. However, the buttons are not working at all in Safari and on the iPhone and iPad, the buttons disapear completley. Please help.

    Thanks,

Whether buttons work correctly in a PDF file depend entirely on what PDF reader you're using. Here are a couple of important facts:
    * While corrected created interactive PDFs will display correctly in the FREE Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat, they probably won't display correctly in Apple's Preview application which is probably what you're viewing in Safari.
    * None of the PDF readers currently available on an iPad (e.g., iBooks, GoodReader, etc.) correctly handle interactivity like buttons on an iPad.

  • How to create interactive pdf for Ipad using InDesign CS6

Hi I created a Magazine layout using InDesign CS6 and wanted it to be viewed on native Ipad reader (but not as apps).  I put interactivity features like page navigations and hyperlinks and converted it to interactive pdf. The problem was the links and buttons are not showing on Ipad.
I tried using Acrobat Pro to create the hyperlinks and this time the navigations and hyperlinks are showing. But is there a way not to create the hyperlinks manually one by one (specially the next page and previous page). If I have more than 100 pages of documents this process will be very tedious.
Is there a solution to create the interactive pdf directly from InDesign without creating the links in Acrobat?

    Hi Guys
This is Sean Smith.  Marilou who wrote the original post works for me.  Bob if you could point us in the direction of details you need I’ll ensure we provide the additional information as soon as possible.
M tells me she pretty much doing exactly what Steve's article suggests.
The concern is what a remarkably cumbersome process this appears to be.
Even though I believe her explanation entirely I find the problem to be highly disconcerting as it’s wasting an immense amount of valuable time and inhibiting the production process significantly.
She is producing wonderful results but via an immensely painstaking process fraught with potential for error.  Each page link has to be manually linked to the next by number.  It’s entirely possible to make a mistake and link to the incorrect page thus missing pages.
If she inserts a new page – guess what? All the pages links have to changed manually and double checked yet again.
If she makes a ‘Contents’ section as we do and exports the InDesign file as an interactive PDF all the contents items and links are missing and are therefore blank.
She then has to export the document as a plain PDF and do the job again in Acrobat.
For an extravagantly wealthy company with such extraordinarily expensive software I find this to be entirely incredulous.
Who is the Product Manager for InDesign?
Are they aware of this issue?
What are they doing about it and when will it be done?
Just curious are you guys paid employees or volunteers as this appears to be an official forum and we are new here?
Digital publishing of PDF magazines appears to be an explosive growth market especially for platforms such as the iPad but this primary product for the task appears to be inadequate or ill-conceived.
Is DPS a possible solution or is this more for Apps than PDF production?
    Regards
    Sean

  • Is it possible to show interactive pdf with video on an iPad 2 ?

I have heard that it was not possible to display any interactive pdf file (action field that start a video clip when click or touch) on an iPad 2 ?
I have an application in which I just want to display my interactive pdf file with action field that start a video clip when click.  It uses a hyperlink in acrobat.  Is it possible to display this on an iPad 2 and allow the user to touch the action field to start a video clip ??   It works in windows (of course).
I was hoping it was possible using pdf because MS power point doesn't work on any applications in iPad2 that will handle the hyperlinking to a video.
I appreciate any suggestions on this topic.
    Thank You,
    G

Adobe Reader does not have this capability. I'm not aware of any other PDF viewers for iOS that do.

  • Future of Interactive PDF's and their ability to run on Slate/iPad type devices?

I am sure I am not the only one wondering about this question and am hopeful an Adobe Evangelist can answer these questions.  I love what Adobe has done with indesign CS5 and the ability to combine video, animation and high quality layout content all in one document.  What is currently missing is for the pdf reader to be "touch" aware so that people can scroll through pages like an ebook, which I would think would be fairly easy to do and would give me the complete picture I am looking for.  So...a couple of questions.  I am assuming that if you use the embedded flash features within a pdf document it would require the flash player? Is it possible Adobe could figure out a way to run the flash runtime inside of pdf to get around it?  Unfortunately Apple has decided to be jerks about the whole thing, but the reality is that the iPad is not going away.  Also, if you use Adobe's encoded video format and reference it via html from inside the .pdf, is that also not going to work on the iPad?(not sure if the video player is also driven through flash).  I think it would be a good idea for Adobe to support video formats other than their own anyway for playing in a .pdf (i.e. H.264).  I guess the other alternative would be to be for Adobe toembed HTML5 content into the .pdf instead of flash for the animations and that takes the work off of the designer that way.  Regardless, just wanting to know what the overall direction is as I am anxious to develop rich content using Indesign + interactive .pdf's, and I don't think you can achieve the same level of formatting or multi-media with the epub/ebook format as you can with an interactive .pdf, so any insights as to what Adobe's plans are would be appreciated.  I also don't want to start creating content that is going to be dead soon...
PS: I totally don't have a problem with going with a PC based slate device that runs flash, but the problem is several of my friends already have an iPad and that limits my distribution audience.  As stated earlier, it is very disappointing Apple has decided to be so restrictive and proprietary about this, but I can't believe there is not some smart Adobe person in there that can't find a technical way around Apple's walls.   Any insights would be appreciated.

I have also been trying to implement audio into a PDF file.  I am working on a presentation that will be presented to a client on an IPAD and then they will have the opportunity to keep the IPAD and some additional reference materials that are uploaded to GoodReader (awesome app).  I developed the presentation in Power Point and converted to a PDF.  I was happy to see that GoodReader recognizes the hyperlinks between the slides (pages) however I would like to give the end user the option to hear narration or an audio blurp about what is going on on each page.
Thought about Keynote for the presentation but it doesn't support narration.  Thought about trying to link directly to a web based audio file, that doesn't work.  Thought about trying to link to an ITunes file, that doesn't work.  This type of functionality is GREATLY needed.  I wish that Acrobat had the option to embed an Audio file that didn't turn into flash (maybe javascript?), that would be an ideal solution.
If anybody finds a way to do this, I would really appreciate it!

  • Interactive PDF on ipad

Hello I'm serching for a program, which can show me the interactive buttons, hyperlinks on an iPad or iPhone. I know, that adobe reader can do this till today and goodreader is not an option for me. I hope some of you can answer my question and help me.

Hi Steve, I understand this is not a recent post and the technology evolves very fast. You provided interesting options for PDF readers on the iPad. Unfortunately I think the root of the problen is for the ios to support most interactive functions of PDFs.
We are sending promotional material to prospective clients from our design studio in the interactive PDF format. As you know they read fine on PC and MAC laptops but lack some interactivity when viewed on iPads. I am surprised by the high number of execs. using iPads on the road and at home to view such documents. You see, when you pick-up mail on an iPad, it displays the file for you, and people expect to be able to interact with the file directly in the email program. We can't expect our target market to have special readers installed.
It sounds like all we can do is wait for the "tablet" readers to provide such capacity. I have read on other posts suggestions to build the document in "inDesign 6" (which we do) and add interactive buttons and navigation with "Acrobat Pro". We will investigate this route. Any other suggestion is welcome.

  • Interactive PDFs on iPads

I’ve exported an interactive PDF that has video content that plays when viewed in Acrobat on my laptop. When I’ve put this on my iPad though the videos don’t seem to play. Do I need to export differently to enable this to happen, or will the iPad just not support this? Is there anything I can install on it which will allow it to work?
    Many thanks
    Aileen

Adobe Reader for iOS does not support embedded videos yet.

  • Interactive PDF with mouse-overs was created in Illustrator, now pauses and flashes when opened in Acrobat

I have created an interactive PDF using Illustrator that has mouse-overs. When i export the file and then open it in Acrobat there is odd pausing on teh image bewteen mousing over it and the text callout that shold then display. Did I export or save incorrectly?

Thank you for both responses! I'm impressed with the fact that you're reading my post.
I'm new to tech matters with Adobe/PDF/Nitro tho I've been using them for several years.
The original file was created by an agency and given to independent contractor to use.  I don't know which program they used to create the form. And I don't know what XFA or LiveCycle Designer means  because I'm not technically sophisticated unfortunately.
I used Nitro 6 to populate the data and have a number of forms already filled out, which I periodically open and modify and resubmit. But Nitro 6 is acting sick, despite reinstalling several times.  I'm attempting to see if it's worth transitioning to Adobe Acrobat, i.e., can I reopen the forms I've populated and continue to work with them.  I like some of the Adobe features for other purposes (e.g., OCR).
Any help in determining how to open the form while keeping the data?

  • Interactive PDF on IPad app created with Digital Publishing Suite

Can someone tell me why I can create an Interactive PDF in InDesign, send it to Adobe Forms but not be able to have an Interactive PDF form on an IPad App built with InDesign? Is having an Interactive (by that I mean, adding a name and address and answering questions in the form of text and checkboxes and submitting) form on an IPad at all possible using InDesign? Aaarrrrgggghhh!
    Barb

I have a 5 part questionnaire which is included in an IPad app built with InDesign. The recipients of the questionnaire answer the questions, add their name etc. They will visit this questionnaire on a monthly basis for 6 months, and each month a copy of the questionnaire is to be submitted to 3 different people. The responses of the questionnaire will need to be maintained for editing and updating each month.
