Interactive pdf first few pages show okay then they show smaller in size. Any advice?

Have tried everything. Viewed on a mac, on a pc, always the same.
Page 1,2 and 3 are fine, filling screen. But from page 4 onwards, page shows much smaller.
Really need some urgent help please, on a deadline

For 1. and 2.: concerning PDFs, there is no "on Mac" and "on iPad". Both are mere environments in which software runs. It depends entirely on which software you are using.
There is not a single PDF reader available for the iPad that supports everything Adobe Reader can do on a modern desktop. As for your "on Mac", you don't say so but I bet you are using OS X's Preview application, which is not by Adobe and also does not support any of the more advanced functions possible in PDFs.

Dies after first few pages open

Everything works perfectly for the first few pages I open. After a few web pages are viewed it stalls trying to load a page and then nothing will load unttl I quit Safari and restart it. Then it works fine again for a few pages and stalls again. It doesn't matter where I browse. I'm always just a few links away from a total hang-up. All the menus still work. I can cancel the stalled page load. It doesn't help, nothing will oad once the stall ocurs until I quit and restart Safari. Very frustrating.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling three times. Same problem every time. I've never loaded more than 4 or 5 web pages without getting stuck like this.
I thought this might be a known bug, but I haven't seen anyone else complaining of this here or in any other forum.
Can anyone explain what could be causing this?

I just wanted to ask one more time about this persistent bug. The laptop this is happening on is a three month old Dell Latitude D620 with Windows XP Pro, Microsoft Office, and very little else installed. It's a pretty clean machine as far as I can tell. I've been studying this discussion forum every day and I can't find another complaint that resembles this behavior. Lots of people seem to have font compatibility problems, blank menus, commands that don't work, internet access getting flipped off, and crashes galore, but no one else has reported this weird problem with Safari consistently appearing to completely lose the ability to load any pages without a restart. I am a Mac user at home and a Windows user at work, so I would love to have Safari working on my office laptop. The problem isn't caused by the company network, because the same thing happens when I bring the laptop home and try it. All the fonts, menus, commands, etc. seem to be working perfectly. It just doesn't want to browse the internet for more than a few pages. In other words it's a browser that doesn't like to browse, even while IE is working just fine.
So before I give up on this forever, I will try asking this question: Has anyone out there had any similar experience with Windows Safari, or am truly I the only one out there with this type of Safari problem?

4M Plus prints light for first few pages

My 4M Plus has been fantastic since I purchased it new. Recently, the first few pages print light. Once it gets 4 or 5 pages printed it is just fine, very good quality. If it sits at the ready for a period of time (I haven't timed it but seems like at least 1/2 hour) then it happens again. I've replaced the cartridge with same results. It has a page count of 75,689 and has never been in the shop. I fear it may be the fuser failing but other than that I have no clue. Any thoughts?

Dear GreedyDragon,
Replace the fuser unit and your problem will go away. The fuser is not reaching the correct temperature to fuse the toner to the page. If it's not fuseing the toner will smear and feel like its raised from the page. Let me Know how it turns out.

Your problem is that everyone seems to be using the same iTunes store account (ID). That's fine when a family wants to share purchased items, but that's the rub - everyone is tapping into the same account, so they can download whatever is available.
As for icloud accounts, icloud is designed for single user use. If multiple users share the same icloud account then all their devices will be synced together - same emails, same contacts and calendars, same notes, etc. There is no privacy or division of data in this scenario. The usual advice is for everyone to have their own ID for icloud, and share the family ID for iTunes store.

But this doesn't help me as the report is scheduled to run and is run from other concurrent programs...So i can't define the # of pages to print or kill the printer jobs.
Other than manually cancelling the job

go to settings/itunes and app stores/tap on apple id/sign out
Reboot ipad by pressing and holding both the home and power buttons at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen, then let go.
When the ipad turns back on, go back to settings/itunes and app stores/enter apple id and sign in
Now try downloading app again
If that doesn't work, then
settings/general/reset/reset all settings

Can you see them in Disk Utility?
If so, can you select and Mount them?
If not, disconnect them, reset the iMac's SMC and then reconnect them.

You need to tell us what you did and what you have (version of iPhoto and verify yoru OS version)
It is not possible to download (actually import) photos into an existing event - every import creates one or more new events
given virtually no information one can only guess - I'd guess that either your event sort is set incorrectly (view menu ==> sort events) or the dates on the photo are wrong so the event is not where you expect it to be - in that case you correct the dates using the adjust date/time command

URGENT indesign fails to export interactive pdf of 700 pages

Hi everyone!
This is my first time asking directly for help in the adobe forum, but god nows how many times i found good advice here before, searching for answers to rather simple AND complex questions.
My problem is:
I have a book made out of 17 files, summing a total of 706 pages.
This entire thing is supposed to be interactive - kind of a "consult on the go users manual" for in-house use at a company.
when i export the book in its total to an interactive .pdf (smallest version, 72 dpi) at about 405 pages it just stops, says that "an error ocurred exporting the .pdf file" and shuts down exporting (not the program though). (It also does not specify the error nor give an error report. it just stops and deletes the half-created pdf-file)
BUT if i export every file on its own as an individual interactive .pdf it works just fine and no problems appear.
my question now is: maybe indesign just not capable of exporting such a large interactive file? (with "only appearance" checked, it works just fine)
the larges file we did in the studio was about 350 pages long - and if i export the book in "2 sessions" (two documents of 350 pages) it takes quite a long time (about half an hour after getting past the last page) but in the end it works.
i thought about combining the various individual (working) pdf documents - but the links/buttons/etc. get all messed up.
has this happened to anybody?
does anybody know how to solve that problem - and if not, if there even is a way? at my understanding right now, it is just not possibe to export an interactive pdf of more than 400 pages from indesign.
supposedly i have to turn that document in tomorrow midday (european time) so it can be saved onto usb-pendrives for distribution... but right now i'm VERY lost.
i'd appreciate some advice, and even if it is a straight "it's not possible, too large of a document" would be nice just to get things in my head a little clearer and confront the client with what's REALLY posssible and what is simply not doeable.

p.s.: despite all the problems (mainly caused by outrageous client/marketing demands) nobody will ever get me hating on inDesign - just gotta looooove that program!

i ended up changing the system after talking to an adobe engineer as she told me that given the high page number and the awfully heigh number of buttons // links per page (from 10 up to 35) it seemed to be a problem for the program to process all that info. not because of the computers "strengths" but simply because of the complexity of the document.
now i ended up conserving only a few links and resolved the rest with "markers" (is it called like that in english? -> the ones that appear in the sidebar of the .pdf in acrobat and let you jump directly to the page to which they referr)

Definitely going to pay more attention to this forum and give a look around to see if i can help somebody too.

p.s.: i thought of that option, but at about 6-12 cross-document buttons per page in a document of 700... i didn't want to get into that mess. if the document weren't as complex it would have been the solution!

How can I make the SWF page in my interactive PDF keep the page change on-click

I'm creating an interactive PDF presentation for a client, and I've spent some time learning how to animate the text for certain slides, export to SWF and place that SWF back in the InDesign file. I then export to an interactive PDF to display in full screen mode. The problem I'm having is that I can cycle forward through the PDF slides by clicking until I reach the SWF page, but then the hand cursor changes to an arrow and I can't move the presentation forward in full screen mode.
I'm sure there's an easy fix, I just can't work it out. I'd be really grateful for any help.

Bob: it will be a PDF presentation fed from a laptop to a large display screen with about 50 slides (1920px x 1080px) to support a speaker (person). Most of the slides are static text or image slides, but where we want images to fade in/out we've created an SWF and dropped it into that page in InDesign.

Jeffrey: I just tried your advice but the problem remains.
The strange thing is that if I press enter each time the slides (pages) move forward properly, but any touch on the mouse and the whole thing won't move... I'm going to look to see if I can drop in other video formats instead.

Is there a way to create an interactive PDF that can display a summary page of data gathered from the form field options selected throughout the Indesign'ed doc?

Maybe. But it's not going to be an InDesign issue.
Please post in the Acrobat forum. I think you'll get far more info there.

Interactive PDF with embedded pages/images.

Hi, all.
I am working on an interactive PDF and have a question.
It is my intention to provide an experience similar to that of navigating a website. I wish to have some hyperlinks that point to elements within the PDF file itself but don't wish those elements to be visible as regular pages of the document. Let me be more specific.
I would like for my document to contain embedded documents and images that would not be visible when viewed page by page using a PDF viewer. However, these hidden documents would be viewed once the buttons with the hyperlinks pointing to them were pressed or clicked.
Does it make sense ? I hope it does. How can this be done ?

I understand you point. Preview is indeed very limited.
Since I am on a Mac I am not sure what PDF viewer, if any, comes standard with a default Windows installation. In any regard, is there a way to set a PDF file so that it bypasses the user's setting and asks for Acrobat Reader (or Pro) when the user tries to open it ? In this case even if the viewer had Preview set as the default PDF reader the document would request to be opened with Acrobat. Is there a way to set this up in the document preferences ?
I am reading about InDesign features to learn more about it thanks to your suggestions. Hopefully I will be able to set-up links/hyperlinks in a manner that allows me to accomplish my goals.

Why is iMovie and pages show up in the free apps and then they show that you have to pay? Are they free or not?

Why is Pages, Keynote and Imovie showing up in the free apps area but they show that they are 14.99 and 19.99? Are they free or not?

They are free with a new machine purchase or if you already have the most current previous version installed.
To get iMovie version 10 you must be currently running iMovie version 9. The same with all the other apps.
