Interactive PDF in an email body?

How can I insert an interactive PDF that I've designed in InDesign into gmail as the email body? Do I need to export it as another file type?

Right^
HTML for email clients is practically a discipline all its own. Most of the methods that work best for it are no longer considered good practice for any other type of deployment. You certainly won't get it done with InDesign. It's tricky even with much more applicable tools.

  • Embedding PDF file in email body

    Hi
I have created a data template in EBS and it generates a pdf. Is there any way to embed the content of the pdf in the body of the email instead of sending it as an attachment when bursting?
    Thanks,
    Bryan

That sounds like a message that you would get on a computer rather than on an iPad. Are you having issues with all PDF files or just PDF files from one particular source? Can you close the message and try to use the Open In option?

  • Why does my InDesign CS6-created interactive pdf w/ email submit button no longer submit from Reader

Last spring I created a 6 page interactive pdf form to email my clients. At the end of the form, I designed Print and Submit buttons. I tested it in Reader and both buttons worked. However, now after revising some of the fields in the same form, the Submit button isn't working in Reader. A message pops up stating that only a data file will be sent, rather than the form. After clicking OK on that (although I do want entire form to be returned via Submit), an error pop-up states "This operation is not permitted."
What do I need to do to correct this problem so that clients can receive this form via email attachment, open in Reader and then return completed form via email submission? Do I need to open the pdf in Acrobat after converting from InDesign, and edit some feature there? Again, it is essential that my clients can open it in Reader. I have Googled this question but so far not found help.
    Thanks for your assistance!

    HI oliviat38527079
Seems that the hyperlink you created on the button to move to the next PDF is not working once it gets moved to a different computer via email, this happens when there is a change in the file path.  It works fine when its on our Mac Computer as the path is fixed because the PDF was created on the same computer, however the path gets changed once it is mailed to a different computer.
I would recommend you check the path of the hyperlinks & make sure they are fixed.
Suppose the path set in the hyperlink is C:\Users\NewFolder\PDF\file1.pdf , then the path of the file on the computer to which you have mailed it should be arrange in same manner so that the hyperlink works.
If its possible for you to share the PDF file then please do, so we can have a closer look & try to resolve your issue.
In case you any doubts please reply.

  • Is it possible to burst PDF file on the email body itself?

    Hi,
Is it possible to show the contents of a PDF file (or any file) on the email body itself and not as an attachment thru bursting control file? We want the message to look exactly as how it looks like in the PDF file, with all the formatting and stuff and not just plain text. So basically instead of the recipient having to open the attached document, we already want the contents of the document shown exactly on the email.
    Thanks,
    Ronaldo

Actually, I am using onunload() but the result is in-consistent. Sometimes file write to the folder, sometimes don't. I don't know why it behave like this.
Before onunload(), I tried this cep.util.registerExtensionUnloadCallback, and found out it's not working as expected.
Now thanks to you and David, I came to know aboutcom.adobe.csxs.events.ExtensionUnloaded but unfortunately this is also not working.
And then there is an event applicationBeforeQuit which only works when extension (html panel) get closed with host application (Photoshop etc.). If it is closed before the host then we don't get any call. Please let me know if I missed anything here.
So It looks like we don't have any option here rather than using onunload() which is giving in-consistent result. Can you please take a look into this, may be I am missing something?
Or may be another work around to store the preferences on closing of extension.
    Thanks for all your help..

  • Email button created in InDesign won't work on Interactive PDF. Anyone know a fix?

Hello there, I am trying to make a e-mail button work after its .swf file is imported into a new iD document and exported as a interactive PDF. I have tried various things and work around but I can not seem to be able top make it wrong. I ask iD twiter for help and after a conversation with them I was told to try here.
    OS: Windows 7, iD Version 9.2.1 x64
This is my process (Will include images and document files)
    1. Create simple solid color box object. Add a text title to the box and otline the text.
    2. Group the objects and make it into a button. Add a roll over appearance.
    3. Add "go to URL" action. One sample button URL is: mailto:test@email(dot)com, Second sample URL is: mailto://test@email(dot)com (the forum editor kept making links to this fake emails)
    4. Export iD document to .swf (Settings where default)
NOTE* Here the .swf open in chrome and the email buttons work fine as a .swf alone
    5. Import the SWF into a new iD file. Export this second iD file to an Interactive PDF (Seetings where default)
After doing this I click on the email buttons inside the interactive PDF but they dont start my email app (Outlook 2013) However every time I click either button a new empty Google Chrome window opens.
Here is a dropbox link to the files themselves, the type is outlines so no need to worry for missing fonts. https://www.dropbox.com/sh/fp76buzt98td8fy/4DD6tqImd9
I hope someone can help me getting this fixed. Http:// Link buttons work fine on interactive PDF's following this process. For soem reason the email ones are the only ones that wont work. I have to use this process because I am working with an interactive PDF that has an animated roll over menue that does not work with ePub so the only way for my project to work the way I want it too is by exporting .swf of the finished file, importing on a new iD file and re-exporting to a interactive PDF.
It was really hard finding anyhting related to this issue im having. Here is the only similar  issue I could find and it is from 2008! http://forums.adobe.com/thread/324167 I do hope I am the one doing something wrong here and not that Adobe has not fixed this .swf email links issue.
    Thanks for the help!
    -Sebastian

Alright thanks! Ok this is what happens in my end:
    - The interactive PDF you sent me works fine. The iD file opens fine as well and is exactly the same process so that checks.
-I exported your iD file to .swf, created a new iD document and imported the exported .swf file from the file you created. I exported this new document to interactive PDF. I open it and again I click the links and only google chrome windows open
This is the link it probably works fine on your end
    https://www.dropbox.com/s/on5tun0v0eunjhu/buttons%20email%20text%20swf%20imported%20to%20i nteractive%20pdf.pdf
I think there is something going on in my end. "Google Chrome" or "Flash" might be intersecting email links or something becuase I cannot get these .swf + interactive pdf combo to open the email client not even after I used your iD file, exported .swf, imported it and export again to interactive pdf.
Again the interactive pdf you sent works fine and when I export my file to interactive pdf it works on my end as well, its only after i export to swf and then I use the file inside iD and export to interactive pdf that it does causes me trouble. I will see what I can do to fix this. At least it was working for you so if its only in my end then its not that bad but it will bugg me forever haha!
Thanks again for your help!! Sorry to take your time Salah!

  • Sending PO (PDF attach.) via email: adding email body text

    Hi,
I need to send Purchase Orders to Vendors as PDF attachments to emails; I have successfully configured all the necessary:
    For Output Type NEU
    1) Access to conditions (General Data) set to X
    2) Dispatch time 3 Send with application own transaction
    3) Transmission Medium 5 for External send
    4) Processing routines 5 includes a customer Program and Form to make use of my SAPScript
I have set up a Communication Strategy (NET - Internet) and created a condition based on a specific document type.
Using ME9F I can select my PO and successfully output the message - I can view the request using SOST and an email with the PO attached as PDF is sent to the correct recipient (email address of Vendor).
I would like though to add some text to the body of the email, which is totally empty. Can anyone please advise on how to achieve this? In the Output Type config there is a section "Mail title and texts"... can anyone tell me whether this section can be used to add body text to the email and how? I have managed to customise the "Title/Subject" of the email and PO but cannot find a way to add some text in the email body.
Thank you very much for your help.
    Gab

    Hi Danilo,
You need to do some configuration for this.
    - Goto NACE .
    - Select EF and click on OUTPUT TYPES.
    - Then select Output Type NEU and click on processing routines .
    - In that you have to add a new entry - medium 5 .
    - Then you need to assign a program, form routine and form.
    - You can use the standard program i.e. SAPFM06P, FORM routine is always ENTRY_NEU and standard MEDRUCK.
    - Then in PARTNER FUNCTION you need to add a new entry : medium - 5 and function - VN .
    - For subject of the mail goto Mail Title and Texts. In title give PO No. &EKKO-EBELN& .
    - Under General data -> Replacement of text symbols give programm as SAPMM06E and Form Routine as
    TEXT_SYMBOL_REPLACE .
    - Now the subject will be PO No. 1800004202.
    - You need to maintain your email id in tcode SU01 and also the vendor's email id.
    - Now while creating a new purchase order , change the medium to External Send .
    - Then goto Communication Method and select CS01 . ALSO make sure that the Cover Page Text has value PO No. &EKKO-EBELN& .
    - Goto tcode ME9F .
    - Execute.
    - Select the checkbox and click on Output Message.
    - You will get a message MAII 00000000000001 generated .
If the BASIS guys have made the necessary configuration for sending mail then the mail will go .
You can see the status in tcode SOST.
If you want to use a z-programm and z-form then you need add the functions used in standard programm SAPFM06P for generating mail in your z-programm.
    Hope it helps,
    Swapnil

  • How do I create a button in an interactive PDF, which will forward the PDF via email?

    Hi,
So, I have an interactive pdf, with a share button. This button goes to the correct mail program and fills in the subject field.
But I can't find out how you can add the pdf as an attachment in that e-mail.
    Thanks
    Indy

    Hey vanhaelst,
You need to have Adobe Acrobat/Reader to attach PDF as an email attachment.
Select 'Send file as email attachment' icon from the toolbar (as shown below):
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I embed a pdf file into the body of an email?

How can I embed a pdf file into the body of an email?

The problem is defining what it even means to “embed” a PDF file in the body of an e-mail, especially if you are dealing with a multiple page PDF file.
E-mail is either pure text, rich text (something akin to RTF in Word), or HTML. PDF is not compatible with any of these. Thus, to embed a PDF file, something has to be converted and that means the PDF would be converted to a less graphically rich raster format. But is that what you would really want?
I think that the MacOS and iOS e-mail clients do under some circumstances place an attached PDF file within HTML segments and by clicking on same, you get the equivalent of extracting the full PDF file, but I have no real experience with that.
Another alternative is HTML with a proxy image with a hyperlink to an external PDF file that is invoked when you click on the hyperlink.
Perhaps you can explain what you are really trying to accomplish and what the recipient of such an e-mail's actual experience would be?

  • Interactive PDF- email hyperlink bringing up email window and "Page not found" webpage?

Any suggestions??? Open to trying a work around...

  • Embed .DOC or .PDF in email body

Using SO_OBJECT_SEND with OBJECT_TYPE =  'HTM' to display a formatted email to employees for various reasons.  These emails have mostly hardcoded content but now have a request to periodically send out an email that will always have different content - and possibly embedded graphics.  Don't want to hardcode HTM changes for a temporarily used email.
Is it possible to embed a Word, PDF, etc. file in the body of an email?  Don't want to attach the file or create a link to the document - just want to dump the content of a file (probably will be stored in KM) to the email body.
Is this possible to do with SO_OBJECT_SEND?

Dear friend, thank you for help. I know how to send a PDF from a stored file.
Sometime when I'm replying an email I have to keep the origin body and insert a PDF file like the way we using for the photo. Just touching the screen and insert a photo. This is good way to insert also a file or a PDF. But I don't have this selection. So I wonder if there is other way to attach a PDF in a existing message, expect your suggested and normal selection by choosing first the PDF and then type a new text body.

  • Interactive PDF - Buttons stop working when emailed

    Hi there,
I have made an interactive PDF using InDesign CC.
I've checked in preview and once saved and all the buttons work and take me to the correct URL.
Once I email the PDF the buttons do not work, in fact they don't not even come up in the email. Please help!

The images that I have made in to buttons are not there once emailed.
I am aiming to send out a company newsletter and the buttons are for social media.
So I want to embed the PDF in to an email, and when you click on the Facebook, twitter etc icons I want it to take you to the correct social media pages.
I have set up the buttons correctly in InDesign as they work when I view the PDF, but once its emailed ( I sent it to myself as a test) the buttons are not there

  • Send Smartform as Email body not PDF attachment

    Hello Experts,
I have a requirement where I need to send Smartform as Email body and NOT as PDF attachment.
I have spool ID generated for the smartform, how can I send this spool in Email body rather than as an attachment.

    Hi K C
Try this.. Get the OTF data from the SMARTFORM, use the OTF data and pass this to FM'CONVERT_OTF', and use the format as PDF.
Then use the resultant converted PDF data as attachment while calling the  'SO_NEW_DOCUMENT_ATT_SEND_API1' FM.
let us know if this works.
    Thanks

  • When I email an interactive PDF with Page Turn, the receiver opens a blank PDF document.

    Hi there,
I am trying to create a digital lookbook for my client. Similar to the one here: http://www.cabionline.com/collection/look-book/
I've created the PDF in Indesign CS6. I exported as a .swf. Then I placed it back into Indesign and exported it as an interactive PDF. I can view the document on my computer and it works fine. But it won't work for anyone that I send it to.
    Any thoughts?
    Thank you!
