Interactive quicktime failure by keynote

i am using keynotes 2.0 with quicktime pro.
i am thinking to creating a quicktime movie, which can be clickable in last frame linked to a webage.
i tried adding HREFtrack in quicktime pro but it fails.
so i import the movie to keynotes and try to export to interactive .mov file. however, the end item does work in pc and mac's quicktime pro player but not normal players.
is it possible to make the interactivity applicable to all quicktime standalone players?
thanks,

Welcome to the discussions, Chi Hang,Ray Chan!
QuickTime Pro should only make a difference when creating content, not playing it. During playback, the Pro player and the non Pro player are the same. If you take a Pro player and then remove the serial number (making it a non-Pro player) does it still work? (remember to keep your serial so you can re-enter it later.

  • Interactive quicktime movie from keynote doesn't stream correctly on web

    hello,
Any help with this would be extremely appreciated as I've been trying to solve the problem for 3 days straight. I've created an interactive slide show in keynote and now want to stream it on my website. The problem is that the finished product, a QuickTime movie keeps re-starting when it reaches the first interactive link until the movie is completely loaded. At that point it then correctly stops at the first link but by this time it has looped the beginning of my movie three times. I've tried figuring out a way to partially load the movie before it starts playing through JavaScript to no avail. I'd like to avoid loading the whole movie before starting it due to its length. If I have to pre-load the entire movie, I'd like a status bar for loading but controls hidden while it plays.
    Help please!

    Welcome to the discussions, Christopher.
Over in the Keynote discussions we've been going over this for quite awhile. Unfortunately, there's no easy solution to your problem. I've even gone as far as attempting to preload the chapter track thinking that might solve the problem, but it doesn't work.
One thing I don't think I've tried is setting up the first slide to advance "on-click" so that there's no animation before the first transition. The problem, of course, is that there's no "loading" animation to let it know when it's ready to go.
Another thing I haven't tried but that might work is to create the movie so that it doesn't autoplay, and then, using the embed commands, set autoplay to be the full length of the movie (so that it will automatically play, but only after it's completely downloaded). Look here for the autoplay embed commands.

  • Interactive Quicktime Movie Events (Keynote)

I'm developing an AIR app that lets the user play a quicktime .mov from their computer.  This movie will most likely come from an exported Keynote presentation.
In case you're not familiar, Keynote lets you export a quicktime movie that is interactive... it will automatically pause after each transition and you can click anywhere on the movie to make it continue to the next slide.
In the flash VideoDisplay component it plays right through these "pause points" instead of stopping automatically.
Is there any way to have quicktime movies automatically pause at those points?  Or is there a way to at least get a callback when they're supposed to happen so that I can pause it manually with actionscript?
I know it sounds far fetched, but this would basically let you play a keynote presentation inside flash.

  • Interactive QuickTime on iPhone/iPod Touch

    Hi All
I am a relative newbie. I have created an interactive quicktime mov using Keynote. Works fine on screen and on web. Can't get it play on an iPhone/ iPod Touch. Is there any special quicktime settings I should be using? All help gratefully received.
    cheers
    Greg

Thanks for suggestion. I am puzzles though. Qt is such a powerful medium. Apple has enabled some of the text tracks within QT to play closed captions on iTunes / iPhone. That is great. How / when do the other tracks get enabled so we can use the full power?

  • Keynote - no sound when I play and interactive quicktime presentation

    Hello Everyone,
I have a problem that maybe someone can help me with.
I have made a keynote presentation and have added some quicktime movies with sound inside the presentation. When I veiw the presentation out of keynote everything - presentation, movies with sound work fine. But when I export it as an interactive quicktime presentation including audio the presentation and movies work but there is no sound for the movies.
Does anyone know the solution for this?
    Thanks,
    Wes

Are the movies mpeg1 by chance? If so, that's the problem. The QT engine doesn't know how to use the audio from the mpegs, so when you're exporting it removes it. Playing it in Keynote is fine, but exporting loses the audio.
Most people have learned to rip their mpeg1 movies into another format before putting them in Keynote if they're planning on exporting as a movie.

  • Keynot export as Interactive Quicktime to Windows fails

I'm using Keynote 2.02. When I export my presentation as an Interactive Quicktime file, the file will not play at the Windows XP machine without error promts every time a " page is turned" in the presentation. Just as if Quick time (in Windows) was looking for a new image and cannot find it. The XP Internet Explorer error promt states "Cannot find 'file:///c:/.........presentationfile_name.mov_slidexxx'. Make sure the path or Internet address is correct.
    Anyone have a clue ?

Yes this is a known issue. If the PC is running QuickTime 7, interactive QuickTime movies won't work.

  • QuickTime movie in Keynote 3 want to export Keynote as QT

So I have a Keynote presentation. It is mostly images but 3 slides play small Quicktime movies. Interviews I did on DV, converted to 320x240 using Sorenson V3 and IMA 4:1 audio. In Keynote 3.0, they now have controls. They play great.
But I need to export the presentation so others can use it without keynote.
The only option seems to be exporting it as as a Quicktime movie.
Actually, with trial and error, the Quicktimes in the Quicktime play great. BUT are missing controls!
So anyone viewing the interactive Quicktime from a CD-R has no choice but to watch each clip. Longest is 17 minutes so a pause or stop is an option that is needed.
Does anyone know how to get those QT controls (or at least stop or pause) into the movie inside the exported interactive Quicktime from Keynote?
Is there a 3rd party solution? I'm desperate.
Alternatively, if anyone knows how to do same but as a Flash file, that would be fine too.
This was problem in Keynote 2.0 as well. My presentation size is big enough.
Considering the convergence of audio and video all over Apple product line, I just don't get why this was not considered for the 3.0 update. I want to export my lectures for students to self run. I'm probably not the only university professor who shows video and would like Apple to deal with this ASAP.

If you have Qt Pro, you can open the file and turn on a controller, then resave the file.

  • Putting a quicktime movie into keynote?

When I put a quicktime movie in to keynote it shows video controls in the raw set but when I export it to an interactive quicktime movie it does not show the video controls is there any way to show the videos controls?
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.2)

EDIT: The below answer is wrong. I just read again, No, you can't do this in Keynote. Sorry!
Ohh, I think I get it. When you export as a normal movie, the controller is turned on by default. When you export an interactive movie, the standard controller is turned off. To turn this on for interactive movies, you'd have to have QuickTime Pro, open the movie, do a command-J to open the properties, go into the Presentation tab and change "Movie Controller Type" from "None Movie Controller" to "Movie Controller".

  • Using interactive QuickTime movie on Windows is fixed!!

With the release of 7.2, the problem listed in this thread
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=154423&tstart=0
has been resolved! If you update your PC to QuickTime 7.2, interactive QuickTime movies exported from Keynote will work without opening Internet Explorer

  • Interactive Quicktime for web and CD Rom

Not sure if this has been asked and answered. I create interactive training products using keynotes, I then export to Quicktime and it works beautifully as it is still interactive and all the elements of the keynote is still there. Is there a way to place this on my website so that it is still interactive.
It is important that the interactivity remains. Unfortunately when I convert from quicktime to flash that comes out looking horrid.
    Any suggestion would be grateful.

I think I figured it out but now i have another problem. I export keynote to quicktime, I then export quicktime to web but it creates a beautiful slideshow but it got rid of the interactive parts. Ah well..

  • Creating an interactive DVD from a Keynote presentation

Does anyone know how to create an interactive DVD from a Keynote Presentation?
I tried the export to Quicktime option, and then brought that QT movie into iDVD. The problem is that the interactive pauses between slides that I get with the QT version, isn't there in iDVD. The transitions turn into chapters, and when you play the DVD, one chapter goes right into another.
I'm sure someone has dealt with this before.

I should make something clear here...
Be careful with terminiology. WIth Keynote 3 you can create a linear DVD, that works the same way a show in Keynote works if you plan to move through the show in the order you built it (complete with all the builds). What it does NOT appear to do is allow you to make a non linear DVD, which is, if you put a button/hyperlink on a slide, it won't work in the DVD. See my other thread about this for the reason why. I'm praying the next version of DVD Studio Pro will read iDVD projects, which would allow us to customize what Apple creates for us automatically.

  • How can I export a graphic slide with a quicktime movie from Keynote?

I export a title slide with a quicktime movie from Keynote to my desktop and it plays fine with audio. Once I insert or drag the clip into iWeb the resolution is degraded and very choppy. The resolution is 320x200 and I'm exporting from Keynote as a custom size (320x200) Frame rate: 29.97 Key Frames: Automatic Key Reordering is checked Data Rate: Automatic Quality: Multi pass. I need some help.

how large is the video and if you publish - does it still have the same horrible quality?
you might considering exporting as flash (loads faster) and integrating that into your iweb site using post-editing: http://karreth.com/index.php/articles/iframes-iweb/

Manual advance is not available in a QuickTime export in Keynote 6.2.

  • I embedded a quicktime video in keynote, but all I have is sound, no visual.  What am I missing?

After embedding a quicktime video in Keynote, all I have is sound, no video.  What am I missing?

Sorry, I understood you to say you had the whole CS6 suite, which includes Illustrator.
As far as finding out what the files are, sometimes you can look at them in a text editor to figure this out. See below; the, Creator Tool line. Not every software package makes it this easy, though.

  • Video_ts to Flash or Interactive Quicktime

Does anyone know of software that will allow me to take an interactive DVD I create in DVD Studio Pro and turn it into an interactive Quicktime or Flash file ?
This would be of great use for some of the smaller projects, and I get asked for it now and then for variouse reasons.
    Any thoughts ?
    Best regards

    Thanks Drew
Thats what I thought, I was just hoping
Something that will take me an hour in DVDSP will easily take me several hours in flash (and that's being conservative) I'm really not very good at flash and don't have much interest in it, but for some reason it seems to be a commonly requested format for "prototypes" and the like. Usually the prototypes don't have all the video content, but they are usually most interested in the look/feel/navigation of things.
anyhow, thanks again. If there's any aspiring programmers out there (or an Apple rep.) this would be a nice program to have, or an export to prototype option that would allow export to interactive quicktime and/or flash within DVDSP itself would be awesome !
