Interactive report : issue with french special characters

Hi,
We have many interactive reports and we can't use any french special characters in the filter clauses. For example, Montréal becomes montréal.
What parameters do we have to change to make it work?
Thanks.

I found the answer in this thread : Interactive Report Character Set Issue

  • Transfer/Reply to emails with french special characters - BB 9360

    Hi,
    I've got a problem when I reply/transfer to mails with french special characters (such as "é" "è" "ç" etc..) => all the special characters are replaced with strange characters such as chinese letters or others.
    No problem when I send an email with those same characters, it appears only when transfer or reply and only on special characters contained in the original mail I transfer/reply to.
    is there a way to solve this issue?
    thanks

    while pressing the 'e' key, scroll your trackball side to side, you will find the various e variations.
    You can do that with most keys to get special characters.

  • Interactive Report, issue with backgroud color of Column Heading.

    Hi,
    I am using Theme -16
    and there is a Interactive Report with the following columns Headings
    Employee Name   Employee No  DOB
    Now, the label of the first column is changed from Employee Name to Employee<br>name.
    The column heading is now displayed as follows.
    Employee   Employee No   DOB
    Name         problem is when I add a break in any of the column heading..the background color of the column headings is different than the first one (little bit darker).
    Why the background ground of the column heading is different in both these cases??.
    Thanks,
    Deepak

    Why the background ground of the column heading is different in both these cases??.The report heading background is controlled by the CSS rule
    .apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA th {
      background: #4e4e4e;
      font-weight: bold;
      color: #fff;
      border-top: 1px #ccc solid;
      border-bottom: 1px #aaa solid;
      white-space: nowrap;
      vertical-align: center;
      letter-spacing: 1;
      font-size: 8pt;
      background-image: url(../ws/report_bg.gif);
      background-repeat: repeat-x;
    }This uses a [gradient image|http://apex.oracle.com/i/ws/report_bg.gif] that is repeated horizontally to provide a shaded background from light to dark grey. As the background image doesn't repeat vertically, when the height of the heading is more than the height of the image the gradient is replaced by the underlying background colour (#4e4e4e). This is what's happening when the break is inserted into the header text: the height of the heading increases, causing more of the darker area of the background image/underlying colour to be visible.

  • Issue with Keyboard Special Characters in HP Pavilion DV6-3004TU

    I am using a HP Pavilion DV6-3004TU notebook. I just had my Windows 7 Professional installed. When I @ using Shift + 2 it displays " (quotation marks). It is vice-versa as well, ie., when I type " using Shift ' it displays @ symbol. I as well have issue with typing the hash symbol. When I type Shift 3 it displays £ instead of hash symbol. This is a brand new laptop and I am using an external USB keyboard as well for my convenience. This problem is encountered in both keyboards (notebook keyboard and external keyboard) as well. What do I do now? It has become a literal mess with characters making it difficult most of the times. Kindly help

    That looks like keyboard layout issue...Looks like your keyboard is set to UK english...to check that...
    To check that, Click Start, type intl.cpl in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER. On the Keyboards and Language tab, click Change keyboards.
    You should see 2 entries English (united States) and English (United Kingdom). If true, delete English (United Kingdom). That should take care of it...

  • French special characters not displayed properly in discoverer 11g

    Gurus
    We are upgrading to discoverer 11.1.1.3
    I have found that French special characters (letters with accents) are not displayed properly in the discoverer tool menu.
    Example
    Sélectionner is displayed as S?lectionner.
    This doesn't seem to be a server issue as one of the tester (in U.S) is able to see the french characters displayed and ironically it is not the case in France itself where this is required.
    Please help
    Regards
    Ariv

    Pl post details of the two clients being used in this scenario - the exact OS version, browser version, browser language settings, Java version etc
    Since the accented character shows on one client , the issue is with the client or the settings on the client where the accented character is not showing correctly.

  • Unity Connection 8.6 LDAP or CUCM Import with german special characters called "Umlaut": ä, ö, ü

    Hi,
    for  jabber 9.1 integration i sync'ed all users at Callmanager, Presence and  Unity to our LDAP (MS AD). with CUCM and Presence (both 8.6.x), it  works fine, just Unity Connection sync the Users from AD, but i cannot import Users  with german special characters ä, ö, ü  (i.E. German Name in LDAP-su: Müller).
    Jabber  9.1 need for Voicemail Integration the AD Authentication. Know  somebody, if there is an Workaraound or Fix ?
    This is a general issue, with or without Jabber, with sync directly from AD, or indirectly through CUCM (sync'ed with AD)
    thx and regards
    Jacky

    I located an identical defect (CSCts28455) that was closed as unreproducible. The defect references CSCtj73444 "Add support for UTF-8 password to LDAP and RADIUS/MSCHAP" which is added to 8.4.2 with the recommendation of RADIUS/MSCHAP or LDAP only for international character support. It would make sense to go to the latest in your current train (ie: 8.4.4.1.ED) and see if the issue remains. What you want to do appears to be supported.

  • Interactive Report - problem with export by email

    Hi,
    We're upgrading to Apex 4.0 and we encountered a problem with the email export in html format for the Interactive Reports. The french accents are displayed with some weird symbols in the HTML file.
    When I export directly in html from my report instead of the email, the accents are fine. So the problem must be the encoding of the email which is set to UTF-8. Our database use WE8MSWIN1252 encoding for the NLS Characterset.
    Without changing our NLS Characterset, is there something I can do to correct this ?
    Thanks

    Hi Denes,
    The administrator have created a mapping table,and they send me this two lines in JMT.conf file:
    /htmldb-test /i/fck/*
    /htmldb-test /pls/*
    The error still exists,i would like to know if these two lines generate a kind of confusion in any treatment of filtre in interactive report.

  • Problem with Icelandic special characters on Mac

    Hello
    I am working on a Flash publication for students, and I want it to run on Mac as well as PC. Everything goes fine, except a problem with three special characters in my language, Icelandic. I am working on a registration and login page where I am using text boxes and text input boxes. Everything looks correct on PC, but on Mac the characters Þ Ð Ý are lost.
    I have tried different fonts etc.
    Any idea what is wrong?
    Jónas Helgason

    Hello Jónas,
    Did you ever figure this out ?
    I have a similar problem except only with two letters (both upper and lower case).  These two Icelandic letters can't be entered into a Flex TextInput box in the Flex apps I am creating when they are loaded on a Mac.  The letters are known as &Eth, &eth, &Thorn and &thorn in HTML terminology.  Typing these characters on the keyboard results in the following:  { [ ? /
    However I can copy the characters in question from some other app like TextEdit and paste them into a TextInput box in my Flex app and all is well, they show up correctly.
    This happens regardless of the Mac browser used and the Flash plugin version used (have tried both 9 and 10) and also happens in the standalone Flash Player application.
    Does anyone have any idea how to fix this or is this a bug in Flash Player ?  This is really annoying as it makes text input into Flex apps on Icelandic Macs very difficult.
    There must be something wrong with the mapping of keyboard key codes into character codes on the Mac that is causing this.
    Btw, I just heard from a friend that this problem does not exist in MacOS 10.6.  I am running 10.4 and have tested this on 10.5 and it exists on both of those OS versions.

  • How to create French special characters on Linux

    I have a Linux machine now, and originally, I had no problems to create French special characters while simply typing the key combintation of alt+<ASCII-number> on Windows. The special characters were displayed both in any text document and in Skype's chat text field. Now on Linux, this does not work, nor can I display special characters by trying it by making use of the Linux way - that is by hitting ctrl, shift, u and then e. g. 00e7 for a small "cédille". Is there any workaround for this in Linux?

    I tested Skype for Ubuntu and it works. Here's how I did it:I pressed Ctrl+Shift+u (an underline u should appear)Then I typed 00e7 and I got underlined u00e7Finally, I pressed Enter after that u00e7 was converted to çThere is how I typed "cédille": ps. Please note 00e7 is code for ç, but not for é (which have code 00e9). See here the list of Unicode characters https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unicode_characters

  • French Special Characters changing to Chinese

    When I send emails from Mail using French special characters—á, ü, etc.—the recipient receives them as Chinese characters. This has happened to recipients who are using Outlook Express and Mail. The emails are usually group emails that I'm sending to about 50 people. Does anybody have any idea why this may be happening? Thanks for your help!

  • Problems with using special characters in Interactive Report Search

    Hi!
    I am currently developing an Application on Application Express 3.1.2.00.02 including a page with an Interactive Report, facing the problem that I cannot use special german characters in the Searchbar.
    So if i try to find a name like 'Schröder' the created Filter looks like this 'Schröder' and i won't get any valid search results. By the way the rest of the application supports these special characters like using them in Buttons or any other Page elements.
    Does anyone have a clue how to fix this problem, because it's driving me nuts ;)
    Thanks in advance

    Does noybody have a clue how to solve this problem. I tried to find out where the Problem occures. The Ajax Request looks like this
    f01     contains
    f01     Schröder
    f01     15
    p_flow_id     100
    p_flow_step_id     50
    p_instance     3176950818119673
    p_request     APXWGT
    p_widget_action     QUICK_FILTER
    p_widget_action_mod     ADD
    p_widget_mod     ACTION
    p_widget_name     worksheet
    p_widget_num_return     15
    x01     14175446766823030
    x02     14176526259823035
    So I guess it has to be inside the Javascript file (apex_ns_3_1.js). I hope someone can help me.

  • WiFi Network Name with Underscore Special Characters Issue

    Turns out that iPod Touch doesn't like wireless network names with special characters (e.g. underscores) in them (I had 2 underscores in mine).
    It will establish a connection, get an IP address, even use WEP but won't talk to the Internet if the wireless access point name has an underscore in it. If you can change your wireless network name to remove the special characters the iPod Touch becomes very and will connect using the Internet.

    I'm looking for a way to escape all characters (not only the minus sign) except for a specific character. Kind of like 'unescaping' a specific character (the '%' sign) within braces {}What about if you apply a function like regexp_replace to escape all known "specific characters", and then unescape the particular specific character again back as e.g. in
    SQL>  select 'a.da-df%df*' str, replace (
                                                   regexp_replace (
                                                        'a.da-df%df*',
                                                        '([[:punct:]])',
                                                        '\\\1'
                                                   str2
      from dual
    STR         STR2
    a.da-df%df* a\.da\-df%df\*
    1 row selected.i.e. don't escape with curly brackets but with the backslash character.
    You can then use this string in your query like in
    WHERE CONTAINS(r.POI_NAME, '<query> <textquery grammar="context"> <progression><seq>'
    ||'aaab'
    ||'</seq><seq>'
    ||'aaa\-b'
    ||'%</seq></progression> </textquery> </query> ' ,1)> 2

  • Dir listing with umlauts / special characters

    I've got a directory tree, where several files have umlauts or french accented characters in their names.
    When I do 'ls' in such a directory, I can see the umlauts fine in Terminal, e.g.:
    Die rote Wüste - Michelangelo Antonioni.avi
    Nazarin - Luis Buñuel (span, eng sub, 1959).avi
    I've got the environment variable LC_CTYPE=UTF-8.
    However, when I do this: 'ls > /tmp/f.txt'
    and then open the text file in TextEditor, I get this:
    Die rote WuÃàste - Michelangelo Antonioni.avi
    Nazarin - Luis BunÃÉuel (span, eng sub, 1959).avi
    Does anyone have an idea, how to fix this?
    (BTW: I've got a similar problem when I rsync these files ...)
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.

    Well, I've been using /Applications/TextEdit for these files, because I was assuming that it handles UTF-8 automatically.
    I opened the files now with Vim (my favorite editor), and, lo and behold, all special characters are fine!
    I think, that solves my problem, because I can even copy-and-paste the text from Vim into my notes.
    Best regards,
    Gabriel.
