Interactive report template

Hi,
How can I change the template for interactive reports? Can I use a custom template for an interactive report?
Regards,
Eugene

Hi,
BTW, if anyone cares, you can still include the sortable column headers into the Row Level templates. Basically just copy the header out of the Column-based Report template and paste it into your custom Row-Level template.
For example:
<th#ALIGNMENT# foobar id="#COLUMN_HEADER_NAME#" class="t13ReportHeader">#COLUMN_HEADER#</th>I had a gotcha with mine where the column header section started indented one column to the left, due to something in the region header (I guess?). I couldn't figure out how to fix it without a kludge. So I simply closed the previous table row then started a new one by pasting it into the region header.
</tr><tr>Inelegant but functional! :-/
Just trying to pass on little hacks as I learn.
Your mileage may vary...

  • Interactive Report Template in APEX 4.0

    Hello
    I'm developing new app in A4.0 and can't see template for IR.
    I remember that in EA2 there was IR template so this is kinda strange for me ...
    Is this feature will be available in future release/patches ??
    Best Regards
    Piotr

    My question is - is it true that IR template was in Early adopter 2 and if so is it possible in the future to put this solution in APEX 4.0 ??There has never been an "IR template", in APEX 4.0 EA2 nor any other version. IR functionality relies on JavaScript DOM manipulation using known HTML structures and ID attributes as selectors. Standard APEX templates present too much scope to modify these and thus break IRs, so I wouldn't expect to ever see a standard APEX template for IRs. (That said, more customisation options, more attention to the full expression of HTML table structuring, and more ID/class attributes for use as CSS selectors would be welcome.)

  • User Interface Template for Interactive Report Region

    In 3.2, where do we set the user interface template for Interactive Reports region?
    No matter what out of the box theme I switch to, the Interactive Reports region shows the same. What and where do I change the template so that alternating rows use two different colors?

    There is no template for Interactive Reports like for a "normal" report. You need to modify the CSS and supply your own for this to happen.
    I believe most things are tagged with #apexir - firebug with Firebox is invaluable. This thread may help:

  • How to customize an interactive report PDF using a BI Publisher template

    Hi,
    I am trying to figure out how to get an interactive report to work with BI Publisher. I want it so that I can create a custom RTF template with custom headings, and then apply this for the interactive report.
    On the front end, when a user runs an interactive report, they are able to hide and show columns, and then click on Actions > Download > PDF. I want this to access the custom template and return a PDF based on this template, and also showing the columns that the user has selected in the interactive report.
    I have already created a custom RTF Word Doc in BI Publisher, and have uploaded it into a report query created in Apex. I am not sure though how to apply this report query to an interactive report, or if that’s even what I’m supposed to do to get it to work the way I want it to.
    When editing the Report Attributes, under Print Attributes, there is a section called Printing.
    Under this, there is a "Print Server Overwrite". I thought this is where you can specify your report query. But I am not sure if I even need a report query because I don't understand why you have a report query that is based on a static query, when in an Interactive Report, the user can hide columns.
    I have Apex 4.0.1.00.03 and Oracle BI Publisher 10.1.3.4.0d installed.
    Thanks,
    Gage

    Hi Gage,
    Custom RTF and XSL-FO templates are currently only supported with classic report regions and report queries, but not with interactive reports. So you would need to create a report query based on the SQL statement you used for your interactive report and then associated your template with that report query. Unfortunately you won't be able to use any of your customizations, filters, or column selections this way. We're planing to support report layouts with interactive reports in the future.

    Could someone suggest me how to gather the requirements....

    Well... I'm not alone :-)))
    I'm only thinking the same as what you're thinking,
    having a navigation bar or command buttons for
    jumping to sections using activate command.Problem is that I have to pass some parameter taken from the row the user click to change the filter applied in the target frame, I'm used to build web apps and to have complete control over the page content... • How to use Templates in Interactive Report?

    Hi,
    I have migrated a report into interactive report, but the template used in earlier report are not applying into new report? Could you pls tell me how can i do that?
    Thanks,
    -Amit

    Hi Amit
    Interactive reports work differently than classic reports - the formatting is controlled by the AJAX controls - not by fixed templates.
    While interactive reports have brought some wonderful new possibilities, there may well be times when you'll want to retain the more rigid, formatted look of a classic report.
    You should choose what the purpose of the report is, and what facilities you want to offer your user - this will guide you to choose an interactive or classic report.
    Both have their place in applications.
    In summary, the short answer to your question - there is no direct equivalent of the report formatting template in interactive reports.
    Hope this helps.

  • Interactive Reports - Problem (possible bug) with button template?

    Hey all,
    I possibly noticed a problem with the use of the button template of the search bar in an interactive report.
    When I for example choose 'Button Alternative 1' as Button template and then save my report then it looks perfect.
    When I now Export/import my application, I loose the button template of my interactive report, if I open the report attributes it isn't selected anymore.
    Does anyone else have this problem?
    Apex version: 3.1.2.00.02
    Kind regards,
    Oli

    Oli,
    Thanks for bringing this up. One of my beta testers just called to say that two of our IRs weren't showing the Cancel or Apply buttons at all. But the third IR worked fine. In my Alpha version, all three had Buttons as the selected style, so I'm a bit confused what went wrong.
    But now I'm thinking if the fact that I had multiple themes defined in the application might have caused the confusion. I didn't deploy the themes from Alpha to Beta because they were all based on Theme 13, and I thought my extensions were included in the application export (which I didn't realize until recently). I'm guessing that if I drop the extraneous themes on Alpha and re-select the button theme, I should be okay when I deploy again?
    I just dropped the extra themes in my Beta and the IRs button theme was undefined again, so I'm thinking they were pointing to the wrong "button" style. Hopefully cleaning up in alpha and changing these buttons will resolve this and I won't have deployment problems!
    Wish me luck!

  • Interactive Report: E-mail Template?

    All,
    Is there any way to edit the template used for e-mailed versions of interactive reports?
    Specifically, I'd like to change the line that says <base href="http:///" /> to point to our server, so that links in the report data continue to function. Is this possible?
    Thanks,
    -David

    Interactive reports are pretty well sealed up. At this time, I do NOT believe you can modify the mail template used in them...

  • Interactive report column filters to display differently than column values

    Greetings...
    We use images a lot in our interactive reports to provide a visual representation to a status, or something locked for update, or what-have-you. By default, when a user clicks the column heading of a column which contains images, the drop-down list that shows up displays the actual images, which is nice for the user to identify exactly which thing they want to filter on. The problem is when the user selects on of the options in the filtering drop-down, the resulting condition that is displayed under the interactive report search bar is the HTML code of the image. I'd like something else to display there because showing the user the HTML code is atrocious.
    I didn't think what I want is possible, but then I came across the Page Locks page within ApEx (page 4000:291 in ApEx 4.0.1) which displays a list of all the pages of an application and whether they are locked or not. It also allows you to bulk lock or bulk unlock a bunch of pages. That page uses an interactive report with a column called "Status" which contains images that represent whether the page is locked or not. When you click the "Status" column heading to filter, instead of seeing the images of an open and closed lock, you see the words "Page Locked" and "Page Unlocked." And even better... when you select on of them, the condition that is displayed to the user is very user-friendly.
    Can someone tell me how this is done so I can replicate it in my own apps?
    Shane.

    Why not create the IR using the text you require e.g. 'Lock', 'Unlock' and then use JQuery to replace the text in the report with the image you want. All the filters should then show the plain text and the report will display the image. e.g.
    http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=46801:1
    Here's what I did:
    Firstly make sure the IR has a region template.
    Then create a Dynamic Action with the following attributes:
    1. Advanced
    2. Event: After Refresh
    3. Selection Type: Region
    4. Region: [select the IR Region]
    5. Action: Execute JS Code
    6. Fire on page load: [checked]
    7. Code:
    $('td [headers="TEST"]').each(function(index) {
      if ($(this).text() == 'Lock') {
        $(this).empty().html('<img src="/i/htmldb/icons/locked_small.gif" alt="Lock" />');
      else {
        $(this).empty().html('<img src="/i/htmldb/icons/unlocked_small.gif" alt="Unlock" />');
    });Where TEST is the column name.
    That's it, this may also be of interest:

  • Report template enhancement? no data found message

    I have a layout in which I want to show the excel export link in the same html table as a logo, so that code needs to be placed in the report template, but when no data is found I still want to show the logo and so all my reports have the same html code in the "no data found" field. Whenever I want to change this I have to change my template as well as all of my reports.
    Wouldn't it be a nice idea to provide for a "no data found" message in the report template instead of the report itself? I can imagine you would want to show the same "no data found" message anyway for all reports so the template would be a logical place to put this.

    There are known issues with Interactive Reports referencing :REQUEST value, probably due to some inner logic that also handles it simultaneously - potentially causing malfunction or deadlocks.
    One workaround I've learned is to create a computation to assign :REQUEST to a temporary item (a PXX_REQUEST, for instance) and reference it in the query, instead of :REQUEST. This has worked fine for me in my experience.
    Let me know if that helps - pls sign the thread as 'Useful' or 'Correct' if so, hence more people can benefit.
    tks,

  • "no data found" message wrapping in interactive report

    I've looked around and can't figure out what's going on. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    I have an interactive report which, when no data is found, displays the "no data found" message wrapping very tight. I have uploaded a screenshot of it to TinyPic for you to see what I see.
    The HTML generated around the "no data found" text is the following.
    >
    <DIV id="apexir_DATA_PANEL">
    <TABLE summary="">
    <TBODY>
    <TR>
    <TD>
    <TABLE id="12352007490697832" class="apexir_WORKSHEET_DATA" border="0" cellSpacing="0" summary="" cellPadding="0">
    <SPAN class="fielddata">
    No submissions were found in the system.
    </SPAN>
    </TABLE>
    </TD>
    </TR>
    </TD>
    </TR>
    </TBODY>
    </TABLE>
    </DIV>
    >
    I've looked through the HTML code that is generated for that page, but can't figure out why the words are wrapping. Any thoughts?
    Shane.

    Well, my problem is back again. It is only doing this in IE 8, not FF. When I run IE 8 in "IE 7" mode, the error message shows up fine, all on one line. I actually have two span tags now so I can have some spacing around the "no data found" message. I cannot get the "span" tags to show up in the HTML code. The software for this discussion forum seems to be filtering it out or the web browser is interpreting it when it should not. I will replace the SPAN tags with square brackets so you can see them. I also had to change "style" to "st_yle" so the software did not filter it out. It sure looks like a jumbled mess now.

    <DIV id="apexir_DATA_PANEL">

    Since I am using an interactive report, I do not believe I have any report template I can alter to adjust how the report and/or "no data found" message are being drawn up. I do have the region of the interactive report set to "Reports Region 100% Width", but the HTML in question is not being generated by that template.
    I wonder if the problem is specific to how IE 8 might be interpreting the inside TABLE tags when it does not have any TR or TD tags within it. Any further thoughts on the matter?

  • Displaying title on Interactive Report

    Folks, there should be an easy solution to this, but I can't find it.  I'd like to be able to display a title on my interactive reports.  I'm using the "IRR Region Template," and using another one isn't an option (b/c the other ones don't properly display wide reports).
    I'm guessing the IRR Region Template doesn't include the #TITLE# substitution string, but can it?  Can #TITLE# be added?  Or can I accomplish this simple requirement via some other fashion?
    Thanks
    Rob

    Question:  Where do you want the title to appear on the page?
    I'm not familar with this IRR Region Template.  Is it borderless or does it have a title "area"?   If it has a title area, it ought to have a #TITLE# substitution string for that area?   You say "I'm guessing ..."   Can you take a look at the template and tell us what's there?   Do you know how to look at the templates?
    I added a simple title as a display-only page item on a report.  But that's pretty limited as there is only so much display room between the page tabs and the search box.  You could also concatenate an application item to the application title and set it to the report title you want when the page displays.

  • Pagination on interactive report - how to move it on my layout

    okay, I am working with the basic interactive report, no tweaks. My end user doesn't seem to worry about much horizontal scrolling, although it goes against my personal web dev standards to do that without significant necessity. But with the templates as they are, the pagination for the next/prev set of records is WAAAY over to the right. I find this bothersome, and for the benefit of my user, I would like to left-align this. I've looked on Google, done a search in this forum, and checked the APEX docs, not much leaping out at me. I suspect I can tweak a div class on some template, not having an easy time finding that.
    helpful thoughts on this? TYIA, and points for a working idea.

    Hi,
    Have you try change "Pagination Display Position" from Interactive Report Attributes?

    and I'm having a problem to sum this on the end of report. APEX does not support INTERVAL data types in either standard or interactive reports.
    Someone have any ideia how i can do that?For an interactive report all I can suggest is converting the interval to decimal in the query and using that column in the IR sum, which will lose the interval formatting.
    It's possible to create a user-defined aggregate function to sum intervals, and use this in a standard APEX report: +{message:id=9371014}+
    When you have a problem you'll get a faster, more effective response by including as much relevant information as possible upfront. This should include:
    <li>Full APEX version
    <li>Full DB/version/edition/host OS
    <li>Web server architecture (EPG, OHS or APEX listener/host OS)
    <li>Browser(s) and version(s) used
    <li>Theme
    <li>Template(s)
    <li>Region/item type(s) (making particular distinction as to whether a "report" is a standard report, an interactive report, or in fact an "updateable report" (i.e. a tabular form)
    With APEX we're also fortunate to have a great resource in apex.oracle.com where we can reproduce and share problems. Reproducing things there is the best way to troubleshoot most issues, especially those relating to layout and visual formatting. If you expect a detailed answer then it's appropriate for you to take on a significant part of the effort by getting as far as possible with an example of the problem on apex.oracle.com before asking for assistance with specific issues, which we can then see at first hand.

  • Two Interactive Report in the same page

    I created two interactive report following the suggestion this link
    http://roelhartman.blogspot.com/2009/03/two-interactive-reports-on-one-page.html
    using an IFRAME
    <IFRAME src="f?p=&APP_ID.:24:&SESSION."
    style="width:600px;height:600px"
    name="details"
    scrolling="no" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0"
    frameborder="0" vspace="0" hspace="0" />
    I am facing two problems.
    a. I could see the logo attached to the application in the IFRAME window
    b. I could not see the lower bound of the region where the IFRAME is assigned to.
    Any suggestion would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance
    Deb

    Hi,
    For your first issue.
    Use page template to iFrame page that do not contain substitution string LOGO.
    E.g. popup page template might not have that.
    Or create your own page template with minimal set of substitution strings and regions and use that for iFrame page
