Interactive Reporting Migration

Hi,
Could any one Please give some details on Interactive Reporting Migration from lower version to higher version(9x) and what are the lower versions.
Thanks in advance.

If the bqys reside in the Repository then the Migration Utility (available on eDelivery) will move content and upgrade the bqy.
If on your desktop and you are using IR Studio (9.x) then the simple act of opening and saving a bqy will do the trick. The new features extended in release you are using will become available.
If you then try to open the file with a lower version you may find problems so once you go up do not go down

  • Error while migrating repository files from Brio to Interactive reporting

    Hi,
I am doing migration of Brio from 8.3.1 to Hyperion Interactive Reporting version 11.1.2.1. I am referring http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E12825_01/epm.111/hs_migration.pdf
I am facing error when I am migrating resitory files from brio 8 to Interactive reporting version11 environment.
    Error [[ENOENT]] Accessing path: /c2cnas/Oracle/Hyperion_Home/EPMSystem11R1/products/biplus/opencat
when I checked at my Linux server I do not see "opencat" directory under /c2cnas/Oracle/Hyperion_Home/EPMSystem11R1/products/biplus path. I don't know why this directory or folder was missed after Hyperion Interactive Reporting Installation. Do we need to create this folder manually for newer versions( 11.x)?
Has anyone aware of this error? will it impact my migration? I am thinking that migration utility is looking to place .oce files in this directory but it could not find. is my understanding correct?
    Please help me on this.

Usually in 11.1.2.1 the folder will be  "EPMSystem11R1\products\biplus\data\Open Catalog Extensions"
    I haven't seen a opencat folder.
Can you check the migration logs. Also check permission for the user on the folders.
    Thanks,
    KK

  • Saving user Interactive Reports in Production, when migrating a new version

    Hi All,
Interactive Reports allow individual users from creating their own custom reports.
If I were to migrate a modification to the Application, will these overwrite the user's Reports?
If it does, is there any way to save the user reports in Production, while we migrate an updated version of the application?
    Thanks.
    Kevin

    Hi,
This is a very commonly brought up issue. If you keep the same application ID from development to production and don't export the interactive reports from development then they will not be overwritten.
The original metadata will be used. There is an excellent blog post from Joel Kallman of Oracle on this topic which gives much more detail: http://joelkallman.blogspot.co.uk/2010/07/where-did-my-saved-interactive-reports.html
I used the methods discussed in the post when I needed to solve this problem.
    Thanks

  • Speed up proces of migration Interactive Reporting version 8.3.2 to 9.3.1.

Is there a way to speed up the proces of migration Hyperion Performance Suite 8.3.2 to Interactive reporting 9.3.1?
What I tried and what helped was:
SQL repository transfer has been improved by copying (select into the old db tables to the new repository.
Transfering the repository files is done by a manual xcopy script from server A to server B.
But the proces of renamning and converting the bqy files into the new version is very very slow. And we have to convert about 8000 files.
I found a java heap size setting in the run.xml but I am not aware of any improvements after increasing that value.
It is the brioqry_s.exe which takes much time to open, convert and save the individual files.
Is is just a matter of adding extra cpu or memory? I am not too familiar with that kind of things. But if anyone has a idea we can work on it.
Hope to heare from you, Detlev

we had to much job output. We deleted it in the source. That helped a lot.
Also the USAGE events where deleted just from the sql tables. It useless information in a new environment so why bother migrating it. Now it ruins within 13 hours. Thats acceptable.

  • Changing usernames - migrating saved Interactive Reports

    Hi all,
We are changing our authentication scheme for our Apex 4.2 app. Unfortunately the new authentication provider requires us to use usernames of a different format to those that we currently use. This will make our saved interactive reports for each of our many users "disappear" as they are saved against a given username. For example, where I may have had the username SURNAME1234 I will now have FIRSTNAME.SURNAME1
I haven't found any Oracle-sanctioned method of doing this migration rather than just altering data in the Apex Schemas. If there is one, I would be very grateful to hear of it, but I haven't spotted anything in my searches.
If I do have to just hack around in the data, I've devised the following update statement to "migrate" the usernames:
    UPDATE apex_040200.wwv_flow_worksheet_rpts
    SET application_user = :DG_USER_ID
    WHERE application_user = :OLD_USER_ID;
... Can anyone think of any complications that might arise from this? Is there anything more I need to do to ensure that the system remains internally consistent? It seems to work ok in my initial testing (moving a report from one user to another).
    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Alex.

    Alex / Duncs,
There isn't any supported way to change the owner of saved reports in the current release of APEX 4.2.3.  The UPDATE statement given by Alex is unsupported and dangerous as it can touch rows which are not saved reports.  We will provide a supported PL/SQL API to change the saved report owner in the future release of APEX.
    Regards,
    Christina

  • Migration from Brio8 version to Hyperion Interactive reporting version11

    Hi,
We are migrating from Brio8 environment to Hyperion Interactive Reporting version 11 environment. I am referring hs_migration.pdf version 11. I am using migration utility tool to do migration.
my question is if I am migrating artifacts from Brio 8 repository to Hyperion 11 reposotory. Will it migrate all the old UUIDS of all the reports to the new repository or will it create new UUIDS  for the reports. If that is the case reports which were saved offline referring to webbased queries will work?

    Hi.
We are just now attempting an upgrade from Brio 6.5 and the On-Demand Server to Hyperion 9.3. Are any of you able and willing to address questions as they come up? I understand the set up and security of the Brio product thoroughly .. and create reports and EIS sections. BUT ... the terminology change from Brio to Hyp 9 is daunting and I'm needing to know how to begin to construct what in Brio I think of as the "Catalog". I'm interested in keeping our initial Hyp9 implementation simple ... and not take advantage of all the options in Hyp 9 which are not part of Brio.
    Thank you!

  • Question on Migrating repository files from Brio8 version to Interactive Reporting version11

We are migrating from Brio 8.3.1 version (unix) to Interactive reporting version 11.1.2.1 (linux)environment. I am referring hs_migration.pdf this is for 11.1.1.1 I couldnot find better version than that. There I can see migrating repository files on page 154 I attached screen shot and pdf for your reference. Here repository files means what are those .bqy reporting files or normal repository files?
Is it possible to migrate .bqy files, .oce files and folder structure in the Brio web application to Hyperion Interactive reporting workspace using the migration utility tool? As per my knowledge .bqy files sits on the unix server but not on the schema (repository) which we used for installation and configuration of Brio 8 environment. so repository files means not .bqy files I think that is my doubt.
I need your help in clarifying my doubts.

That means to move .bqy files and .oce files should I connect to existing Unix Reporting server keeping it as source and existing Linux server as target? or should I connect only to Brio8 repository as source and Interactive reporting repository as target?
Can you please share your contact number? I will call you.

  • Migration of apex 3.2 Interactive Reports tpo 4.0

I am currently involved with the update of APEX 3.1 to 4.0. Is it possible to have the user-saved IRs in 3.1 migrated to APEX 4.0? My understanding is that the users will lose their reports once the migration takes place.
    Thanks,

    Hi Ajay,
If you are upgrading then there shouldn't be any problems.
Only issue raised was when moving the app from one instance to another instance with different application ID's.

  • Saved interactive reports - need a way to migrate to updated application

    APEX version 4.1
We had an application (APP_ID =20) in operational environment that users had saved many reports.
Recently we made enhancements to the application and promoted the development version of the application into our operational database. When importing we picked a new APP_ID =21. After several weeks on Operational system users have noticed there saved interactive reports are no longer showing up in pull down list.
I have seen several posts talking about keeping the application IDs the same ensures the saved reports are preserved. For our situation I am not sure the best route to take to get us back to where users have there reports. Can I export APP_ID =21 on OPS, import this back into a dev environment setting its number back to 20, then export this from Dev and re-import onto OPS using the re-use APP_ID=20 option. Was not sure if this would work since APP_ID =21 on OPS has no saved report now??
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks in advance.

  • Custom pagination for APEX 4.2 interactive report using Page Zero

    Hi,
    I want to implement an «Custom pagination for APEX 4.2 interactive report» using a «page zero».
I recently migrate from Apex 3.1 to Apex 4.2 and my «Custom pagination for APEX 3.1 interactive report» using a «page zero»  is not working any more.
So now I try to adapt an excellent example of Jari Laine for 4.0 but using a page zero.
I put the code JavaScript to Page zero but I must create an dynamic action to fire only for an interactive report region.
    It’s a good idea?
    Thank you

Thought I would try once more with my DatePicker question.
On the Apex.Oracle.Com website I have created a 1 page application that has an Interactive Report.
    [url http://apex.oracle.com/pls/apex/f?p=15655:1]
    user = 'test'
    password = 'test'
    I have 2 questions :
    (1) In IE7, press 'Actions', 'Filter'. On the Column dropdown list, select 'Order Timestamp'.
Notice the prompt icon to the right of the 'expression'. This should change to the Datepicker, but in IE7 it does not. Try the samething in Firefox or Chrome and the Datepicker will appear.
Is this a BUG, or does Apex 4.02 not support IE7 ?
    (2) In Firefox or Chrome, where you can now see the Datepicker, you will notice that it is the new style picker, not the old style ( called 'classic' ). I want to change it so that it shows the 'classic' datepicker not the new, but cannot see how to do it, if indeed you actually can.
I would really appreciate it if someone could take a look and let me know if I am going mad, or if we need to get all our users onto IE8. We have now gone live with Apex 4.02 and need to resolve these issues.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Oracle roadmap for Interactive Reporting

    Hello Gurus,
This is just an opinion I need from you guys.
Currently, there is System 9.3.1 in which only Interactive Reporting is in use.  Now, client has decided to migrate from 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.2.
I was just going through Oracle roadmap for IR. I am just confused about future of IR. It seems Oracle is not much enhancing IR in EPM product suite.   Rather they are improving IR through OBIEE.
This is a case where client is using only IR from Hyperion product suite & want to migrate the same.
         What is better path?
Hyperion 9.3.1 to 11.1.2.2 or  Hyperion 931 to OBIEE ?
If its better from 931 to OBIEE, what are high level steps?  Also how can we migrate Users, provisioning , reports to OBIEE?
Please correct me if I am going wrong here.
    Thanks.

It comes down to an issue of maintaining compatibility with current software versus having a product that actually works.
    I upgraded from 9.3.3 to 11.1.2.1 (On MS Windows Server 2008 R2/SQL Server 2008 R2/Windows 7 64-bit).  Here are the changes:
IR will now export to a version of Excel that's 10 years old (.xlsx) rather than 20 years old (.xls from Excel 2).
Service management is done through the web and is at a finer grain.  This really simplifies service management.  The small services restart very quickly so I am comfortable restarting one at lunch rather than waiting for a maintenance window.
Names of functions have been made more obvious and meaningful (for example, you can now open a job instead of retrieving it).  This is a plus and a minus.  If you have been using the system for a while you'll initially have trouble finding things.
The new version is incapable of handling non-trivial queries developed in the UI.  Several documents developed in 9.3.1 and 9.3.3 using derivable queries and append queries work fine.  The inevitable minor changes required as business adapts to the world, however, are not possible.  For queries of any complexity, IR sends the aliases (like the names of the queries seen in the section list) to the SQL Server.  Of course, SQL Server can't find objects with those names so the queries fail.  My solution is to use stored procedures.  At that point, I can migrate to any other (non-Oracle) product, so I'm actually happy they've pushed me in that direction.
For large local results queries, the system will run out of memory if the query is run with UAC turned on and logged on as a non-admin user.  Oracle says this is because the new version has more features and, therefore, uses more RAM.  Oddly enough, the queries run fine when run as an admin with UAC turned off because they don't use as much RAM.  It looks more like a compatibility problem than more features.  Again, my solution was to push the work to SQL Server by developing stored procedures.
I was testing 11.1.2.2 while planning an upgrade and found:
There are more new bugs than the bugs that are fixed.
No IE10 compatibility (documented).  Since we're skipping IE9 and moving straight to IE10, my main reason for upgrading (IE9) is gone.  IE10 compatibility should be in 11.1.2.3 near Christmas 2013.
Recommendation:  TEST EXTENSIVELY.  Paint a clear picture for management showing that newer isn't necessarily better.

  • How to convert "classic" report to "interactive" report?

    Hi,
How do I convert classic report to interactive and vice versa?
    Thanks

    Hi,
When you go to the interactive report, in the right you have "Migrate to Interactive Report". That will make your standard report interactive, but will not erase the old report. It will be only disabled. But I don't know if it is possible to migrate from interactive to standard report.

  • How to save a user version of interactive reports in 3.2.

My users ask me to save a "modified version" of a defined interactive report (eg. the want to change the selected columns and the remember them).
When I connect to a report as developer I see a "Save Report *" option which asks me if I want to apply the "configuration" as default for all users (this is not my need).
When I connect as normal user I simply don't see any save option.
I read in the documentation it's possible (if I understood well) but I din't find the way.
My reports were developed in 3.1 and then migrated to 3.2.
    Tks
    Tullio

That can only work if you use an Authentication scheme (so not on a ' Public' page).
And check the Report Attributes of that Report: Is 'Save Report' ticked?

  • How to have both Classic Report and Interactive Report from the same page?

    Hello APEX developers,
I want to copy a page consisting of master-detail form together with its data, as in data stored in the tables.
I've generated a master-detail form(which by default having its detail report as a classic report). I want to copy this page and then migrate this classic report to Interactive Report. This way, I have both the classic master-detail form with report AND the master-detail Interactive Report.
I've tried doing this but ended up getting a new master-detail Interactive Report page without its data.
    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Best regards,
    Daniel

    Hi everyone,
Solved already. What a relief! Kindly ignore this post.

  • Interactive Reports and APEX 3.0

hi -- I built some initial prototype pages (forms, reports, etc) in Apex 3.0. Have recently upgraded to 3.2, and in building more reports I see that there
is an option for an Interactive Report (and it's the default). Was this available in 3.0? I was new enough to APEX that I may not have picked up on it if it was... but what I can see is that for the Reports I created in 3.0 (Where the region is PL/SQL function body returning SQL Query) there is no option, in the Region Definition, to migrate the report to an interactive report (as it appears there should be, from looking at post:
Can we change a report to interactive
The only task option is undo region source.
If Interactive Reports weren't available in 3.0, is there any way to convert existing reports? Or would I just need to re-create them?
Also, is there a tabular form that also supports interactive report features? I'm guessing not... but thought I'd ask.
    Thanks,
    Carol

Interactive Reports were introduced in Application Express 3.1:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/database/application_express/html/3.1_new_features.html
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apexusr31/apexusr31.htm
I will try and find a link about the conversion details (updated below).
You only get the conversion option on the right hand of the screen for the Standard SQL Reports, not "SQL Query (PL/SQL function body returning SQL query)".
If you were to change it to the standard SQL type (which may not be possible) it would give you the option after applying the change. Interactive Reports only work on standard SQL queries, and not SQL generated from a function body.
