Interactive Terminal Window not giving username prompt

Hi,
Have an issue that began a few month's ago where users dialing into my AS5350 access servers (to authenticate) never get the username prompt in the interactive terminal window. We suspect an MS hotfix or something because the 5350's all check out, and using my home PC I do not experience problem (and I don't get force-fed the MS hotfixes either). Anyone experience a similar issue? We're running IOS 12.3 (14)T. TY

Kevin
I have seen that symptom on AS5350 using the interactive window to allow users to authenticate. I have also wondered if it were the result of a Microsoft "fix". I have discovered that if the user will hit enter that they then get the prompt (and if fact if they just type their userID and hit enter it will be accepted).

  • Interactive Terminal window

Does anyone know if terminal window can be interactive to accept strings as well integers. I know with Keyboard.readInt Integers can be read but how about strings? i.e appending names to a queue or a stack through the queueDriver. Any ideas?!

Keyboard is not a standard Java class. I suspect you are using a console class that reads in a string of characters and converts them to an integer. Read the Keyboard API, I'm sure you find a method that just reads in a string of characters without converting them.

  • Keyboard shortcuts: adding service to open a Terminal window not being saved

    Hi
Objective: A shortcut to open a terminal window with the path of the 'in-focus' Finder window (Mavericks).
    Solution (that doesn't work): Apple Menu/System Preferences/Keyboard
    Select: Shortcuts
    Select: Services
Check box for: New Terminal At Folder
    Close System Preferences
This approach seems to be advised on quite a few sites. When I do it, the service I add simply doesn't get saved. I go back into the System Preferences and look under the path above and see that the box for New Terminal Åt Folder is unchecked.
Any help in being able to achieve my objective would be greatly appreciated :-)

Those things are saved as part of the workspace. It sounds as if the current workspace file has become corrupt. Close ID, then go to your user profile and you'll find the workspaces folder under \Application Data\Adobe\InDesign\Version 6.0\<language>\Workspaces. Delete the "current" xml file for the workspace and restart ID. The workspace will be restored to the conditions set when it was saved, but hopefully will remember changes again when you close the program.

  • 'Run' terminal window not closing

I have an Java application which I have created an installation package for using InstallAnywhere.
On Solaris when launching the application using the alias from a terminal window it works fine. But, when I launch the application from the File Manager, by double-clicking, it creates an 'extra' terminal window called 'Run', this terminal window doesn't terminate when I exit my application.
How can I prevent this, can I prevent the 'Run' window from starting using some sort of setting, or can I somehow make sure it is closed togheter with the application?
On Linux (SuSE10) the OS asks how I would like to run my application so I don't have the same problem there.

  • Network shares Not giving the prompt.

We have a share created on a Domain environment but when users try to access over the network it do not ask for the credentials and give me an error message
You do not have permission to access \\lyncarchive.iyogi.net\Lync-Archive. Contact your network administrator to request access.
For more information about permissions, see Windows Help and Support
I have checked the credential manager and removed all stored usernames and passwords but still get the same error message.
    Any help is appreciated....

    Hi,
Did you access the network share from a domain member server or a non-domain workstation? If from a domain member server, it does not ask for the credentials when user does not have permissions to access the network share. If from a non-domain workstation,
please check if you can using the following settings on Windows server 2012 to achieve this.
Go to Control Panel > Network and sharing center > Change advanced sharing settings > Enable Turn Off password protect sharing option

  • Terminal: does not display a prompt, login in titlebar after web dev setup

    Hey,
i did a fresh install on my macbook, and i reinstalled all my dev environment. I had some trouble with this and i may have messed something up in the process, but basically the no prompt problem happened after i installed mysql, set up apache the way i need with virtual hosts, added stuff to my hosts file, and installed the fixed leopard mysql prefpane (plus someother stuff like setting up root password).
The only .bash file i have in my home directory is history

    can this thread be moved?
No, but you can copy it or reference it in the Unix forum.
There were some major "under-the-hood" changes made with BSD in Leopard.
My old Darwin stuff no longer works, and I had to completely reinstall my Fink software as well.

  • Blank terminal window

I am looking at a blank Terminal window with only a prompt in it.
I can type at the prompt but cannot execute any commands.
I tried re-choosing some settings in preferences and also
deleting com.apple.Terminal.plist but it remained unchanged...
How can I get back to a normal Terminal window?
    -mj

    Thanks for replying...
I'm embarrassed to admit that a restart seemed to solve it :-/
I went to another disk to do something and when I booted back,
my Terminal window was back to normal.
It reported nothing, as I said. The only thing written to my Console.log is a mail message.
Yes, I did try to modify some preferences to get bash to be my profile again but that had no effect on the Terminal window.

  • Terminal Windows don't login locally

I have a saved group of terminal windows that, when opened, not all windows actually login locally with a command prompt. Often any number of the terminal windows just hang, with no command prompt. Any ideas?

how can i post a screen shot here?
basically, in the morning, I boot up.
I click on my terminal icon in my nav bar, and 4 windows open (hence saved group).
Within those 4 terminal windows, not all windows show the command prompt. Sometimes, only 1 gives me a command prompt and the others are just blinking cursors. Sometimes, I get 2, 3, or all, but always different.

  • Terminal window blinking cursor will not accept keyboard entry

    Have SunBlade100 w/ Solaris8.
This is probably a dumb beginner question...
When I enter certain commands at the terminal window - in this particular case
    # cat /dev/cua/a
and I hit <return> the cursor skips to the next line, and
continues blinking , and will not accept any keyboard entries.
    1. What is the significance of this? Is the cursor waiting further action, and if so, what?
    2. How do I get back to the prompt?
    3. Under this condition, is it safe to exit the terminal window by closing from the Window menu? (I can't type "exit" because the cursor won't accept keyboard entries, and Help for "closing the terminal" warns against closing from the Window menu because any background processes will not be terminated (and this may cause problems).
Thanks in advance for any info on this.

Thanks again for the info. <control>+C was exactly what I was looking for. It's coming back to me now-- the last time I had contact w/ UNIX was back in '85 at UC Berkeley (no GUI's back then!).
I'm assuming that <control>+C is a graceful (i.e. relatively harmless way to exit the command.

  • I used to be able to copy or drag and drop links from the address window. Now with the update, only the address is copied or dragged not the link. (Says something about not giving site information). I want to be able to drag and drop or copy links.

    Question
I used to be able to copy or drag and drop links from the address window. Now with the update, only the address is copied or dragged not the link. (Says something about not giving site information). I want to be able to drag and drop or copy links.

To be more precise, you can setup a JComponent or JPanel on top of your JavaFX nodes that has a TransferHandler that can convert the (AWT/Swing) images dragged to the app to JavaFX image and then insert it into the underlying node.
As for the file chooser itselft: ListView and the JavaFX composer can allow you to create one quite easily. TreeView can aslso be used to a lesser extend (still a big buggy). For both of these, there are small bugs in the Cell API that may (or may not) prevent from displaying a proper thumbnail in the cells.
You can also use a regular JFileChooser if you do not mind the dialog box having a different LnF from the rest of your application.

  • Boot camp assistant not giving option to boot from windows partition drive

Hi, I am a recent convert to Mac OS (10.6.8) on my three year old Macbook. I have been using windows on boot camp since the beginning and have just shifted to OS as the windows was taking too much space and running quite slow (not to mention the viruses accumulating!). I am getting better at it now, only Excel being problematic adjusting to with the different and less convenient keyboard shortcut keys!
Whilst moving over to MacOS, I changed around the disk partitions using disk utility to free up and utilize some unused space. My Boot camp partition still exists untouched, but the boot camp assistant is not giving me the option to restart the computer using the C: drive (and enter windows). I also have saved data on windows that i want to transfer over to MacOS. Any suggestions please? all help/comments will be much appreciated! Thanks.

  • If I have a program that runs in windows under the command prompt and on Mac in the Terminal window, can it be run in iOS

I have a program that is ran using the command line in windows and the terminal window on Mac or LInux.  Is it possible to create an app for the iPad that could run this program.  This program does require admin rights.

    No.

  • SOS!!! can not type username/password with heart symbol () to login with keyboard.

My child accidentally added heart symbol (♥) in username, and now I can not login into my macbook air as I can not type the ♥ symbol with keyboard. apple tech service said no such experience before.

If the user account is associated with an Apple ID, and you know the Apple ID password, then maybe the Apple ID can be used to reset your user account password.
Otherwise*, boot into Recovery mode. When the OS X Utilities screen appears, select
    Utilities ▹ Terminal
from the menu bar. In the window that opens, type this:
    res
Press the tab key. The partial command you typed will automatically be completed to this:
    resetpassword
Press return. A Reset Password window opens. Close the Terminal window to get it out of the way.
Select your boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name) if not already selected.
Select your username from the menu labeled Select the user account if not already selected.
Follow the prompts to reset the password. It's safest to choose a password that includes only the characters a-z, A-Z, and 0-9.
    Select
     ▹ Restart
    from the menu bar.
You should now be able to log in with the new password, but your Keychain will be reset (empty.) If you've forgotten the Keychain password (which is ordinarily the same as your login password), there's no way to recover it.
*Note: If you've activated FileVault, this procedure doesn't apply. Follow instead these instructions.

  • Closing active terminal window with applescript

I made a very basic script to lock my screen, and I like how it works. Some of my co-workers would also like it but it has one problem.
When the script runs, a terminal box pops up at the end saying [process complete]. I can click through this and I don't care, they do.
I can't just killall terminal because we use terminal and that could kill our work.
We sometimes need to see output from a script and like the process complete, so don't want to reconfigure our systems to never display it.
I'm trying to find a way to use applescript or something to kill the active terminal window, or the window with the title of LockScreen or something.
    Anyone have an idea?
I was hoping something like this would exist but it doesn't seem to: tell application "Terminal" to close window

Here is an easy approach.  Start Applications -> Automator
    Select Application
In Automator search for "Start Screen Saver".  This should be under Library->Utilities
Drag "Start Screen Saver" to the right side panel.
    Save the Automator app.
If the user has System Preferencs -> Security -> Require Password ... set, then one the screen saver has started running, it will require the user to enter their password before getting control back.
This Automator app can be double clicked, it will not require the terminal.
With respect to your script.  If this is a shell script, AND if you wish to continue using it, then you could create an Automator app that uses "Run Shell Script" under Automator Library->Utilities.  This will also NOT require the use of Terminal, however, be aware that when Automator runs a shell script it DOES NOT have the same environment as when you are running a shell script at your Terminal prompt.  There are very few environment variables set, and for example the USER, HOME, current working directory, PATH, etc... may not be the same.  If you have dependencies on specific environment information, you may want to write a simple automator script the using "Run Shell Script" to output various environment information into a file so you can see what you have to work with
    (id -a
    pwd
    echo "$#"
    echo "$@"
    printenv
    ) >/tmp/automator.environment.txt
