Interactive Wedding Albums

I would like to clarify if it is OK to create an iBook photo/video album for potential wedding clients? I would give them the ibooks file ( via dvd or dropbox ) as a complimentary gift but I would also include my design rate for the time it took to create the iBook. Is this permitted?
And, if so could I promote this service as a "iBook weddings album" on my website without going through iBookstore? Or, does anyone have a workflow that honors Apples product and service without posting a clients personal business to the world via iBookstore?
Thanks for any insight!

From the iBooks Author: Publishing and distribution FAQ:
If a fee is charged for the work and it is in the .ibooks format, the work may only be sold through the iBookstore. If the work is in a different format, such as PDF or ePub, this restriction does not apply.
You cannot charge a fee for the book if you distribute it outside the iBookstore without being in violation of the IBA license.
The question is whether giving the iBooks file away as a "complimentary gift" while charging at your "design rate for the time it took to create the iBook" would be considered as having sold a book that you are not distributing through the iBookstore.
Using common sense, I doubt that Apple would object to this, seeing that a wedding book is of interest to only a very limited audience. Unfortuntely, common sense doesn't apply. What applies instead are the the license terms.
I would take the IBA EULA to a lawyer and get an opinion, if you want to be on the safe side. Pragmatically, the cost of prosecuting you for a license violation will cost Apple far more than all the revenue you will ever make from wedding albums. But that hasn't stopped some organizations, such as RIAA, from prosecuting similar breaches. If you happen to be the unfortunate one Apple decide to make an example of, you might regret it…

I have iphoto7. I need to order additional copies of a wedding album I creared LESS THAT A YEAR AGO!!!. Apperently I can no longer order on iphoto 7 and cannot download the upgrade on my OSX 10.6.8 system What can I do?

Your profile signature is confusing. There it says "iPhoto '08, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)".  But your question mentions older systems:  " iphoto 7 and cannot download the upgrade on my OSX 10.6.8 system"
Do you have two different Macs? If you have a second mac with OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), you could upgrade that to MAvericks and buy the most recent iPhoto '11, version 9.5.1 from the App Store. That would be the least expensive solution to upgrade your iPhoto.
If you only have iPhoto 7 on OSX 10.6.8, you can can buy the boxed iLife '11 installer package from Amazon. This will install an early version of iPhoto '11, that runs well with your current system and will let you print your book.  You will need to run the iPhoto library upgrader to convert your old library, see:  iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader
Also, you  should be aware, that upgrading your library may change the book layout a bit, because the themes have changed between the versions, so you need to keep a backup copy of the library and iPhoto 7, to be able to compare the upgraded version to the original.

  • CS3 tools interactive photo album and small video

Sorry to ask something that I should know.
I have 2 the CS3 tools, photoshop & AI and the full production studio of CS2. I haven't used these tools for mnths (nearing a yr) and didn't have a whole lot of experience even when I used them daily.
Cutting to the chase... I want to create a short video and an interactive photo album to go on a settop playable CD-rom.
I don't need help with the video part. But am at something of a loss about the interactive photo album. I've done quite a few animated photo-albums but the only interactive part was with DVD menus.
I'm not really talking about a lot of interactivity. I plan to put the pictures in pages and would like the user to be able to turn the pages.
That is, I'd like the pages static but turnable by user/viewer.
Maybe menus would be one way to do it, but wondering if there is some way to make it a little less clunky. Ahh .. maybe all I'm describing is chapters.. but even then I'm not sure how to do that on a CD-rom as opposed to a dvd...... still any input would be welcome.

    I have a similar problem. I have DreamWeaver8 and installed a
demo version of Fireworks. Fireworks works fine when I just want to
    open an image to edit.
However when I try to create a Photo Album I am prompted to
install Fireworks. I have 21 days left in the trial version.
    thank you

  • Wedding Photographers using Aperture to design wedding album

I have been using Aperture to design my leather wedding albums. This way I can email the bride a PDF layout for her approval before sending the book to "Graphistudio" to print.
If you are a wedding photographer and need to get the brides final approval on an album this can save you money on mistakes. I make them responsible for checking spelling and dates, pictures etc.
1: Make custom layout to Graphistudio's dimensions.
    2: Layout book as normal
3: Print to PDF file - Then use "PDF Shrink" to get the file to about 2 - 3 megabytes in size so you can email. Send to bride to look over and approve.
4: When approved I print the book to JPG images and use Graphistudio's own software to layout the pages and upload.
It would be great to have a separate plug-in for designing wedding albums in Aperture for different companies.

    Aperture 1.5.
Ah. Using highlight & shadow adjustments can slow down Aperture 1.5's exporting five-fold.
Let me make sure I understand: if I'm only shooting JPGs, there's no RAW conversion, which means the time that's being consumed is due to the various adjustments Aperture's having to do?
Plus resizing if the output size is different form the original, and converting to another colour profile if the input and output profiles are different, and compressing the new JPEG. Apart from resizing, all those tasks should take hardly any time at all.
Also, would a third party DVD burning program for Mac improve the situation?
It's not going to make any difference at all.

  • How do I get my albums and pictures to match correctly? Ever since the last iPhoto update my entire library has been in disarray. i.e. my wedding album have pics from vacation album. Which was not the case before.   MacBook Pro 2010

Ever since I did the lastest iPhoto update my picture albums have not correctly matched up with the corresponding photos. i.e. my wedding pictures now show up in my vacation album.  The picture thumbnails are not showing me the correct photos.
15 inch MacBook Pro Late 2010
    iPhone 4

I have iPhoto '11 with the lastest software update. I forgot what number it currently is. I am vigalant when it comes to the latest software updates. Yes, I did restore my iPhoto pictures from a backup since I founf out I could not share any of my pics using my apeture library since they were not the orginals. So, after the back-up of iPhoto all my pictures albums and the pics in the album do not match up, even the thumbnails.  I find this quite annoying. All my albums were working and correctly before this update.  As for apeture can I re-master all the photos there masters? so i can just do away with using iPhoto all together?
    Thanks for the quick reply!

  • Elements 3 interaction with album starter

I have elements 3 and would like to use it to work on my photos. I recently downloaded album starter. How do I move photos back and forth between the two? I am sure there must be a simple way but I don't see it. Thanks, Tom.

    Tom....
The actual photos are not stored in the Album, they just reside on your hard drive. So uninstalling the Album program wont loose your photos.
When you open the Organiser in PSE3, there is a function to Get Photos from your hard drive. You'll see a small Camera Icon towards the top left. Click on the drop down arrow and select 'From Files and Folders'. In the pop up window select the folder where your images are, typically My Pictures, and click on Get Photos. Make sure the Get Photos from Sub Folders box is checked.
You'll see your Photos being loaded.
If you need more help do come back.

  • Deleting unwanted pages when creating a photo album

I am in the middle of creating a wedding album and have unwanted pages. I have tried highlighting a page in the "ribbon" on top of the page and then hitting the delete key but the unwanted pages still do not go away. I am using a iBook G4. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Welcome to the Apple user discussion forums
In iPhoto albums are virtual things used for organizing your photos
    - I assume you are making a book to print. How many pages do you have? There is a minimum of 20 pages so unless you have 22 pages of more you can not delete pages

  • Photo Sequence in an Album

Just imported into my iPhoto 6 library 1,300 photos from my daughter's wedding. I created an album titled "Mary's Wedding" and moved the 1,300 photos from the library into this album. Within "Mary's Wedding" album, I spent hours rearranging the sequence of the photos, and now it is just right. I want to send the photos via DVD to a couple of friends, and must burn the photos on to two DVDs, because they are too large for one DVD. Thus I created two new albums, "Mary 1" and Mary 2", and moved the first half of "Mary's Wedding" into "Mary 1", and the second half into "Mary 2". The problem is the photo sequence from "Mary's Wedding" (where I invested all my time) is lost in "Mary 1" and "Mary 2", and the photo sequence in these latter two albums reverted back to the sequence from the Library. How can I maintain the same sequence I created in "Mary's Wedding" as I transfer the photos from "Mary's Wedding" into "Mary 1" and "Mary 2"? Thank you - buster

    TD
Thank you. I resolved the sequence issue by following your suggestion, Photo > Batch Change > and then went to Set Date > and I set the time on the first photo to 12:00 am and then adjusted the time sequence to 1 min between photos. This seems to work. Too bad Apple doesn't have a better approach for letting the sequence of photos in albums to remain the same, once established.
    Thanks,

  • Album design in Aperture 2.0 then send to lab

I'm wondering if there is a way to design wedding album pages in Aperture and save them as jpegs to be sent off to the lab I usually have print album pages for me? I'm a Lightroom person and I'm new to Aperture. That would be cool if I could!

I want to see if anyone has an answer to this as well! I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Aperture album designer, as it is so easy and fast to use. I am also making photographic printed albums for professional binding. I can't find a way to export the pages so that I can make these albums. The custom feature in the book designer looks as if it is only if I am printing here at the office on ink jet. If I was going to do that, I'd use InDesign.
I really really really want to hear that there is a way to export the book, but not in a PDF... so it can go to a real lab.
If anyone figures this out, please let me know.

  • IPhoto how to send album by email

i have a mac pro with osx 10.7.5 ,was wondering if i could send a wedding album I made on iPhoto algong with music for slide show by email??

You export the slideshow from iPhoto (file -> Export), that makes a movie of it.
Simply, sharing video via email is not advisable.
Many email services have an attachment limit of 20mb and some a limit of 10mb. As emails are sent through an array of relays, the effective limit is the smallest file size allowed on any of the relays.  That means that video is rarely suitable for emailing.
Then there's the whole issue of Codecs and not all machines will have the codecs to play all videos. Plus, folks with slower connections can find it very inconvenient to download large video files.
Finally, sharing video from iPhoto via email is not supported. All that gets you is the Movie thumbnail. If you feel you must share via email then you'll need to export the video first, and attach that. Use the File -> Export command and set the kind  to Original.
    This User Tip
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-4921
has details of the options in the Export dialogue.
Other than that your options include:
Upload it to a sharing site like YouTube or Vimeo and email a link - these will allow the recipient to view the material online. That will avoid the codec issues mentions, and the person can still download the video file if they wish.
Upload it to sharing services like Dropbox or YouSendIt and email a link. This will require that they download the material to their machines to view.

  • During import, how to auto split one project into multiple albums based on date?

I believe I've done enough aperture reserach to get all my terminology right, so here goes...
I've created a file structure within the aperture inspector the the tune of:
Year [folder], Type of event (Occasion, special occasion, holiday, vacation) [folder], Project (Wedding), Album (i.e. Day 1, Day 2 or Pre wedding week, event, honeymoon).
I also have entire months with 7 or 8 pictures each day, that are of the same type/project (random dog pictures) but are distinctly different days (albums - day in park, in bed at night, watching movie).
My question is, can I import one project with multiple albums already created based on the date they're taken.  As I can see it, all I can do is split individual projects automatically by date.  But what if one project is over one month, but has multiple distinct days that would be ideal for albums?  One more example.  We did a trip to San Fran.  One day was touring the city, one day was a concert, another day was touring the city.  All one project, but 3 different albums (in my mind).  I had to import as one project, then separately go in and make albums.  I would like that done automatically.
My suspicion is that I can not natively do this within aperture, and that I would need something called an "applescript."  I haven't done any reserach into that area, so if that's the case and you know where I can find a script that would do this, I'd appreciate the help.
Sorry for the wordiness, just wanted to be clear.  Thanks for any and all help!

You need to create a new requirement in tcode VOFM for that, together with your ABAP consultant. This requirement will be used in copy contol.

  • Cool Solution for Collages and Rapid Page/Album Design

    Hi all,
This past week I got introduced to an amazing application. Not new, just new to me...it is called Fotofusion by Lumapix. Its focus is collages and page/book layout for pro photographers. I had another pro (and fellow Aperture user) that I respect give me a demo of this, and I ran home to play with it myself. To say it is fast and responsive in doing this work is an understatement...you have to play with this thing to believe it.
As an event pro, I am always doing a collage 8x10 as a promo piece (mailer/giveaway) to point folks at the buying site. Even with all the PS templates, etc. There is NO COMPARISON, trust me. I just output a 20 image collage, with custom cropping, frames, shadowing and text in less than 10 minutes from a blank page in Fotofusion. My 2nd day playing with it... I can do it in less time now using the template it created. I can even tweak component images and simply re-render the piece to show the updates.
It responsiveness is due to its referential architecture, much like Aperture. It only stores references to the photo files, and creates and stores an instruction set on how to build the page. It only reads in the high detail of the photos when it renders the pages, and it can output the pages in any major format. It is a mature app, v4.3, my friend has been using his for about 4 months, and has done a dozen books with it already. Knowing all the shortcuts, he can really fly with it now.
I called Lumapix in Montreal, and found that the principals were formerly with SoftImage, a very high end modeling/compositing/animation system. That explained a lot, as SoftImage is an amazing app.
So what is the problem??? Fotofusion is a Windoze-only app. (Please don't stop reading, lol, fight the nausea) No one hates PC more than I, and I am still excited.
I have a Mac running Parallels (my financial app), and Fotofusion was just as fast on mine as it was on his Dell PC. My buddy actually bought dedicated PC to run this app. If you are a pro delivering wedding albums or collages on a regular basis...I have seen nothing that even comes close. This is the first time I have seen a photographers app on the PC that was really different & worthwhile.
I asked Lumapix if a Mac version was in the works, they said not at the moment as the software uses Windows system resources and would need to be re-written from the ground up for the Mac. I told them a dream of mine would be that they write this as an Aperture plug-in.
OR...if the Aperture team was to incorporate this Fotofusion level of speed and functionality to this task in the next version of Aperture, it would be awesome. I guarantee Apple would sell a lot more books...Fotofusion takes a fraction of the time that the Aperture book tool does to do a layout. I am hoping the Aperture team gets excited about this software design.
The demo of the software is fully functional except it prints watermarks on the output. It does work well in Parallels on my MBP, and is $299USD...but I would really want this functionality in Aperture...either native or a plug-in.
I figure if I made you folks aware of this, and you end up sharing my enthusiasm...maybe we can make some collective noise and see this or a design like it like it in or for Aperture. Before anyone asks...I have no commercial interest of any kind with this company...it just solved a huge workflow issue for me, I am excited, and I wanted to let others who need to do similar tasks know about it.
    Sincerely,
    K.J. Doyle

  • Apple Book design printed by Album Epoca ( another Printer)

I have designed a wedding album using Aperture and now want to send it to Album Epoca for printing. The album size is 9X13. Album Epoca needs the pages sent to them as laid out in Aperture and as a jpeg. How do I do this? Can I save the book as a jpeg? How do I ensure that the pages are not saved individually as 9X13 pages. What do I do to ensure that when i have a 18X13 spread that it is saved that way. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks

I should be able to do that! I mean this is an Apple program right?
Welcome to the weird and quirky world of book design in Aperture where conventions don't necessarily apply... Copy/paste is touch and go, multi-selects don't work etc. It's as though this section of the app was developped somewhere else.
Making a duplicate image with the right attributes is the way to go in your case. You can also create a new master page and apply it to existing pages. The re-apply master command is useful in that case and yes, you CAN select multiple pages and apply this as a batch - go figure

  • Aperture lost all my album settings!

Spent about 3 hours setting up a wedding album with a customer. I printed one page as a proof to see how things were going. Looked good. Went back in and was going to print 4 more pages. Just before I presssed the "print" button in the print dialogue, Aperture "quit" unexpectedly! After I restarted the application, it had lost all the work I had done on the album! The images are still in the project, and there is an album, but the album reverted to another theme than the one I was using and lost all the images! Is there anything I can try to get the album setting back, or am I just screwed? Wish we knew if anyone at Apple ever reads these things.

    Hi Ken,
If this is what I think you are referring to Ken, then don't worry, all is not lost.
This has happened to me once or twice in the past when either installing a new version of iTunes or when I have re-linked my iPod to my other computer.
One thing to check first though:
If you open iTunes and look in your Library and select any track you like (you don’t kneed to play it) and make sure that you have the 'Show or Hide Song Artwork' tab at the bottom left of iTunes (its the fourth one in) selected, can you see the Artwork for your track?
I know you are concerned about the artwork on your iPod, but this is important, if it is showing that’s great. If not, it might just be switched off. If you look at the grey bar that makes the top of the Artwork box that views the image, does it say 'Selected Song' or 'Now Playing'? If it is the latter, then with your mouse just click on it and your Artwork for that track should appear.
Makes sure this is the case for a few others, and if so, your artwork is not lost and can easily be put back on to your iPod.
Now Make sure your iPod is connected and showing in the Sources list on the right of iTunes.
Now go into the iPod options menu by going to the Edit menu and selecting the bottom option 'Preferences' and then opening the iPod tab. You will see an option to show your artwork on your iPod. Select this then click OK out of the Preferences and do an update.
iTunes will then say its updating your iPod, and when it has confirmed that your music is updated, it will then import all your artwork back into your iPod and it should then be present when you use your iPod.
Depending how many tracks you have on your iPod and in iTunes, this might take quite some time. For me last time without about 4 tracks on an AMD Athlone this took about 40 minutes.
I hope this is of help.

  • Multiple usernames for one gallery album?

I'm am trying to find out if there is a way to grant multiple usernames to an individual album. Right now, as far as I'm aware, you can only select 1 username/pw for 1 album.
For example, I have an album with a friends wedding, and an album for my work. I would like both "groups" to be able to see the wedding album without requiring the "work" group to have to start remembering all these different names once more albums start popping up.
I wish the would do a "...check box next to accounts you would like to grant access to this folder..." type of system.
    Any ideas?

Perhaps I am thinking about this back words and I am just starting to get into groups, but couldn't you just pick a name like wedding, add a password, then click tell a friend and copy all the emails into the email slot? All would get it, they just have to click the link in there email and copy and paste the name and password from the email.
Did you make two groups already?
    Just an idea.
