Interactivity behind other overlays

I think I know the answer to this but, if you have an overlay such a scrolling frame to make a slide out tray, and you have other interative content on the page already such as a button or an image sequence, it there any way to still access this interactivity if the container (which has no fill) for the slide out tray covers the other elements, as these slide out trays take up a large amount of space.

That is the case with others overlays such as MSOs but the empty region in the scrollable frame is the interactive zone.
You’re going to have to design accordingly.

  • How to hide front panel objects behind other front panel objects

    Hi,
    I need tho change an existing project and to make it simple just want to hide some front panel objects behind others. But I can't find how to put the one I wnt to the front hiding all others. So now there are some in front that should be hidden.
    Is there a button or menu item "Move to front / back" like in many other programs?
    Thanks

    Hi Martin,
    what about the link I provided in my previous post? What else do you need?
    What about the chapter "fundamentals" in the LabVIEW help?
    Going the way "Fundamentals -> Building the FrontPanel -> How-To -> Reordering Objects" seems rather logically to me…

  • Active Window Appears Behind other Windows on W2K8 R2 RDS Server

    We are using a W2K8 R2 server running RDS and Xenapp 6.5. While using IE 10 and selecting the print option which calls the Crystal Reports Print Control 14 download control for IE 10 the print setup window appears behind all other windows. I have some
    other applications that place the active window behind other windows. I tried the reg fix but that didn't work.

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
    As you have commented the issue appears from single user, so try to delete the user profile cache and see whether it can resolves the issue. Also you can remove all the permission assigned to that users for a try.
    You can delete user roaming profile cache as follows.
    To resolve this issue, add a REG_DWORD value named DeleteRoamingCache to the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\DeleteRoamingCache
    Set the value data to 1.
    After this restart the system and try to login on system and also try to login faulted users on other system to check the result.
    Hope it helps!
    Thanks.

  • Working window disappears behind other open windows at random times.

    The window I'm working on keeps popping back behind other open windows at random times (not related to the program I'm using). Is anyone else experiencing this after upgrading to Mavericks?

    This is what happens for one of the active corners for Exposé, if ("all windows") is the upper left corner. Take a look at "System preferences" , Dashboard & Exposé.

  • Video content behind other INDD layers

    Hi, I have imported an .oam file into indesign and wish to have the footage autoplaying in the background, behind interactive buttons. It works in the EPUB preview, but not on my adobe content viewer on ipad or desktop - any ideas?

    As Bob mentioned, the video needs to be set to Auto Play, and the content that you want to appear in front of the video needs to be overlays, such as buttons or slideshows. For slideshows, the easiest method is to create a two-state MSO that's set to Auto Play, Loop off, stop at last frame.

  • Scrolling main content in an AP Div disappearing behind other AP Divs...?

    Newbie here, using CS3. No CSS power user (yet!)--general concepts, yes, but not much practice. Meanwhile two recent CS3 classes, several books, and a concerted search through online forums have failed to point me toward a fix for this prob. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Prob statement: In design view the core content of my pages disappears behind my footer and a secondary box, both AP Divs, so that I cannot see or edit anything beyond the bottom edge of the core-content AP Div. Overflow for that AP Div is set to scroll. The "obscured" content shows up only as an outlined shape extending past the footer etc. (and I can see some of the obscured text "through" the footer). Down arrow doesn't get me there: it just scoots down the outlined-but-obscured section. Doubleclicking highlights everything that's obscured so that I can see the relative shapes of the paragraphs, but doesn't expose the content. This seemed to start the first time I set the content div to scroll any overflow. I've changed it back/forth since; no joy.
    Rendered in IE or Firefox, all the pages with all their varying content lengths look fine. Scrollbar works great. It's just that in order to edit or compose further, I have to copy everything into Notepad or something, work there, and then paste it back into DW. Definitely non-optimum, though: can't format or add hyperlinks to the content.
    I'm using AP Divs, with scroll on in the "content" AP Div, because I couldn't figure out how to create a template where the footer would slide down the page in response to varying amounts of content. Started out with a table to handle all this, but an instructor recommended AP Divs so I went that way. I'd like to resolve this, rather than just go back to using tables while leaving this AP Div oddness a mystery.
    The footer is full of a Spry tabbed panels giving my legal/green/design statements and other small bits of info. The secondary box is an AP Div called "quotations" and is for friendly little bits of cute/clever nonsense at the bottom of each page.
    Tried a number of different settings so far and by now I've probably truly messed things up. Can anyone suggest a fix?
    The code for the template file seems long, so my apologies. However, the content type isn't allowed for attachments so I've pasted it in below.
    Much appreciation!

    I hadn't looked at the code at all. I was relying on the Dreamweaver GUI to correctly guide me to a desired outcome.
    I think that this is not a desirable approach to Dreamweaver, which will write perfect HTML if you let it, but it's too easy to click buttons and apply wizards without regard for the markup consequences, thereby producing a veritable pig's ear of a page.  If you are going to use DW professionally, you will have to become comfortable with code.  That doesn't mean you will have to spend 100% of your time in Code view, but you will definitely need to watch the code as it is formulated.
    I'm not starting from an engineering background.
    Neither did I.  But I did start with a sincere desire to become proficient, and to learn the technology.
    Murray, I get the idea of redoing my template without AP Divs, and will get into that. I don't know what "image swaps and links" mean, though. Would you mind teaching this newbie on this point?
    Not at all.  When you select the "NavBar" feature, you are placing elements and code on your page that were designed in the dark ages of HTML (frames).  Some of the features in the NavBar will only work in a framed page (the down image and the over while down).  The code is antique, invalid, and just wrong to be included.  My suggestion was to forego this and just place your button images on the page (in whatever container you need to use), and apply links to them so that they link to the desired pages.  Then apply swap image behaviors to them to create your rollover effects, one for each button.  The result will be modern code, that has none of the legacy stuff of the navbar, and that will work fine for you.  As you become more familiar with CSS you can investigate even better ways to do such menus (if you want a preview of this, Google "CSS Sprites).  The latter method is usually the only way I do menus anymore.  And even then, I use both text and graphics for accessability and SEO purposes.
    I will say that I like your attitude.  A determination to learn and improve is a winning approach.

    Unfortunately, if the application's window is positioned behind something else, the dialog box pops up in front of its parent window, but BEHIND whatever is in front of it!
    Now I know that the app needs my attention but I have to find it and then find its dialog box (the app itself is unresponsive till I deal with the dialog).
    This behavior happens in many different apps (Toast and ControllerMate are good examples) and is a real pain. Is there a setting somewhere that I missed or mis-interpreted?
    Many thanks in advance
    A>

    Thanks!
    I thought I was just being stupid ( I do that sometimes).
    Followup: is there an app out there that would bring dialog boxes upfront, so that I do not have to hunt them down?
    Or maybe there is an applescript that activates a bouncing app?
    Thx!

  • ListView appearing behind other graphical components in VBox

    I have created a ListView implementation of a ChoiceBox since I have a very long list of items and I don't like the fact that the entire list is displayed when opening the ChoiceBox. I have attached this ListView to a button so that when a user clicks on the button the ListView opens just like a ChoiceBox. My issue, however, is that when the ListView is diplayed it appears behind the other graphical components in my VBox container! I have tried to call "toFront()" on my ListView component however the VBox repositions my ListView component to the bottom of the VBox (which makes sense since toFront merely moves the node to the end of the VBox node list). Obviously this is not the behaviour I want and I don't want to have to convert my VBox to a StackPane (or just a Pane) and layout the components myself since the VBox lays out the components perfectly. It would be nice if there were a "z order" parameter but that doesn't appear to be the case and I have already looked into the "depth" parameter.
    Are there any other ways to bring my ListView to the front without the VBox repositioning this component? How does the ChoiceBox component itself accomplish this? I have also tried to embed the ListView in a PopupControl but the unfortunate side effect of this is that the Popup always appears in front of EVERY window on my screen which is a tad annoying.
    BTW, I think JavaFX is the next best thing to sliced bread! I have written a very large application and this is the only issue that I have run into since it went GA. JavaFX has far exceeded my expectations and the JavaFX team (and Oracle in general) and other developers who have contributed to this project should all be commended for the outstanding work they have done on this!!!

The reason why is that if you use "lightweight" rendering of the drop down (er... popup?) and it extends beyond the end of the window, you will have your list appear clipped. So you have to use a real heavyweight window (the PopupControl) to make sure that if it extends beyond the edge of the window, it displays correctly.
    I believe the UI controls team is planning on adding a proper ComboBox (which, FWIW, we always planned to add) sometime between now and 3.0, but I'm not sure when. The ChoiceBox actually uses a ContextMenu, while ComboBox would use PopupControl, but some of the little details are the same. Here is a code snippet that might be useful from the ChoiceBox skin.
            // When popup is hidden by autohide - the ChoiceBox Showing property needs
            // to be updated. So we listen to when autohide happens. Calling hide()
            // there after causes Showing to be set to false
            popup.setOnAutoHide(new EventHandler<Event>() {
                @Override public void handle(Event event) {
                    ((ChoiceBox)getSkinnable()).hide();
            // fix RT-14469 : When tab shifts ChoiceBox focus to another control,
            // its popup should hide.
            getSkinnable().focusedProperty().addListener(new ChangeListener<Boolean>() {
                @Override public void changed(ObservableValue<? extends Boolean> observable, Boolean oldValue, Boolean newValue) {
                    if (!newValue) {
                        ((ChoiceBox)getSkinnable()).hide();
            // TODO remove this id once bug RT-7542 is fixed.
            popup.setId("choice-box-popup-menu");

  • Animated photos hidden behind others

    I am making a simple animation of some photos within an Indesign document that will be saved as a SWF and/or a PDF (not sure yet)
    I have 5 photos stacked on top of each other.  They are animated so they will "fly in from the right"  The first two work fine but when the remaining ones start sliding in from the right they slide behind the first two.
    I've played around with their order in the layers panel with no luck.
    Any Suggestions?

    sounds like a stacking issue. Open your layers panel and see if they are stacked the way you want them, if not just drag them to the corrrect location. If that don't help post a screen shot.

  • Edit ActionScript to be behind other layers?

    I used some ActionScript to create a snow effect for my flash animation. Right now, the snow falls in front of my other layers, and sending to back isn't working. I'll post the ActionScript below.
    I have a treeline background, with snow falling on top of that. I have pieces of a logo flying in, and I want that to be OVER the snow. Currently, when I play the animation, all I can see is the treeline and snow, and I'm guessing the logo is flying together behind it.
    Can anyone be kind enough to point out how I can get this done? Thanks so much.
    Snowfall ActionScript that I used (not mine) :

  • Merge acting odd. Merges image in front of some and behind others.

    I use the Merge with background function A LOT and have never had an issue... until today.
    Suddenly, when I select Merge (or CTRL + M) the image I am trying to merge is only 'partially' merging. Oddly enough it is being placed in front of one image on the slide and behind another image on the slide. Super weird.  I am expecting it to just place it in front of everything as it usually does.  I am dumbfounded.
    I have combed thru the forum for an answer but I cant find an answer.
    NOTE: I do NOT have "Use Master Slide Background" selected (.... and never have had it selected as I dont work with Master slides). I have also closed and reopened CP6 and rebooted my computer.

    Rod,
    I do not have Master Slide Objects On Top selected either.
    For now I am going to leave the image in the timeline to cover the old image but I still just dont understand why/how Master slides would have anything to do with why trying to merge the image is acting so strange.
    I continues to place the merged clipart between other images that are part of the original slide... like a deck of cards and placing the merged image between two other cards.
    Lilybiri - Do you have any suggestions on what I might do with Master Slides to get the Merge to function?
    Thanks

  • Can Director Interact With Other Applications?

    Hello,
    I am a CBT/E-Learning Developer looking for a way to author
    Guided Help. I am thinking of how to develop interactive tutorials
    that, instead of using screenshots of an application, interact with
    the application itself.
    For instance, let's imagine that a person is working in MS
    Word and doesn't know how to save a file. He can click the icon for
    the "Saving A File" lesson, and a caption displays on top of MS
    Word that reads something like "Click FILE", along with some type
    of indicator of the FILE button, such as an outline, highlight,
    arrow, etc. The user clicks FILE, the File Menu drops down in MS
    Word, and the next step of instructions is displayed. In this way,
    the usre is guided through the steps of saving a file as he
    actually performs the task in the software.
    Can Director create this type of thing?
    Thanks a lot,
    Mike

    Hi Chunick,
    Thanks for replying. I used MS Word as just an example; the
    type of software I'm wanting to use this for is police records
    management software. I've been doing the interactive simulation
    tutorials for them since 1999, using multimedia authoring tools
    Demoshield and Opus Pro, and demo authoring tools RoboDemo and Demo
    Builder. However, I wanted to get away from interactive tutorials
    for 3 reasons:
    (1) My client's software is frequently updated, and keeping
    up with taking new screenshots is a hassle.
    (2) I'm of the opinion that "at the moment of need", process
    embedded "guided help" in the actual application is a much more
    useful form of training than working through a simulation.
    (3) It will greatly help my client's support staff and
    training staff
    I've been researching process embedded e-learning and guided
    help for almost a year now. I've looked at everything from
    multimedia authoring to macro software. I even found two programs
    that do exactly what I want, but they are very very expensive, much
    more expensive than Director.
    Thanks for the tip on Hook Xtra; I'll check that out. Last
    night I found an xtra called MasterApp, which may also do what I
    need. I appreciate the concern about the difficulty of programming,
    and I'm not a programmer (except HTML, and we all know how easy
    that is). But I'm in this for the long haul, and would be using it
    for potential new clients, not just my current client. I love
    learning new software, and I have a membership to the IEEE Computer
    Society, which gives me over 1300 online e-learning courses I can
    take, including Director.
    Thanks again for the lead!
    Mike
