Interactivity - Flash or Video

I came across this website (below) recently and found the
concept of an animated voiced flash file quite interesting.
http://www.oddcast.com/sitepal/
I would like to incorporate this concept into my website but
I was wondering to make it more realistic is it possible to use
video footage from a digital video camera of a person mimicking the
movements of the animated flash file.
So basically I would like to incorporate the same functions
onto a real person, so if you move the mouse cursor to the right of
the person they move the eye and tilt there head to the cusor
position, up down left right etc etc.
Is this possible in Flash? or some other app?
Would love to know how to implement this and what type of
software, programming requirement would possibly be needed.
thanks

Ramsaran,
If you directly access a video file though URL iview then the file may open in a seperate window.
You implement your requirement on this way too,
Upload wmv file into portal. Create a hmtl which will embed the video file. Please your html accessible by portal. create an URL iview to access the html page.

  • Interactive Flash Video

    Hello,
Wonder if anyone could help me?
I am creating an interactive Flash video with hotspots.
I have my video in Flash and I have created the hotspots at
different points in the video. What I want to achieve is when the
user is watching the video and they click correctly, some text
appears and adds an icon to a score board on the screen they see.
There are a total of 10 correct areas where they need to
click on the video, so the maxium they can achieve is 10.
Is they anyway I can achieve this and possibly how?
Thank you very much... I am very confused where to start.
    Kind regards,
    Paul

Create some invisible buttons to place on top of the video.
Then embed cue points in the video to trigger the buttons to appear
    and disappear when appropriate.

  • Is this interactive flash movie possible in Adobe Edge?

    Hi,
I´ve done this interactive flash applikation:
    http://bit.ly/Uy6GEF
Is it possible to create this exactly the same in adobe edge? If you click on a hotspot, then a 3d-video (this video is already done in a 3d-animation-software) with a transparent background appears over the car-layer and on click to "back" it softly disapears.
(For this online version, I´ve just put a compressed video into "Gasoline & Diesel system". Normally, every hotspot has a different video.
So, are those interactions possible in Edge?
    Best regards,
    Maw

Everything except for the alpha transparency video is easily doable in Edge.
Rather then trying to shoehorn html5 video with an alpha transparency into Edge (not sure if this is doable), you could potentially use a png sequence or spriteSheet to play back those animations. Though the file size will be very large, and Edge does not have native implementation for png sequences or spriteSheet playback. yet.
John Dunning built a plugin for Fireworks to export a spritesheet as an Edge symbol:

  • Interactive Flash on a DVD?

I have a SD DVD with 3 Videos and I want to also put 1 interactive Flash video on this same DVD. Is this possible?

You can certainly do it by adding a microsite, as you describe. The bigger issue is getting it to autorun when you click a link in the menu of the DVD. Currently there is no reliable way to get such links working effectively on both macs and PCs, and as you have already pointed out, you can't play enhanced content on the set top player anyway.
On the Mac side of things, the technology to get interactive links is called DVD@ccess. This works, to a fashion, on a Mac. It \sometimes works on \some PCs \if you persuade the user of the PC to install the DVD@ccess software and \if their system recognises it and allows it to work. Many don't.
In essence, the viewer would see the link on a menu, click the button and be taken to another menu (@ccess links can only be embedded in the menu - i.e work when the menu is played, not when a button is clicked). When the new menu plays, the web browser will launch over the top of the DVD player app. Therefore, in the background you could 'time out' the menu and go back to the first one almost immediately. The user would never see that happen, because the web page was in front, starting up and distracting their attention.
Since DVD@ccess is so unreliable the only way to do this would be to give the viewers the instructions on how to find the content - possibly as text on a menu - and rely on them navigating to the folder you have created and double-clicking the index.htm file (or whatever) to get it running.
All you need to do to get this set up is add your microsite as ROM content to your DVDSP project, taking care to nest the folders carefully and set the disc based URL correctly.

  • How to watch flash based videos without adobe flash installed using Safari

How do I watch flash based videos without adobe flash installed using Safari?

Once you have Chrome installed, activate the Develop menu in Safari (go to Safari Preferences > Advanced > Show Develop Menu). You then will see under the Develop menu the Open Page With option and Chrome will be listed there.
So each time you open a page with Safari requiring Flash, you use that menu option to open the same page in Chrome.

  • Advice on Exporting Flash To Video

    Greetings everyone. I'm in a bit of a pickle. I promised a
client that I would be able to export the flash piece I did for
them into a Quicktime Movie. I am using Flash 8, and using many
Flash 8 only features (i.e. blending modes, blur filters). Now, I
know that Flash 8's Quicktime export can't support that stuff, but
I figured I'd export it as a PNG sequence, import the sequence into
Premiere and life would be grand.
HOWEVER, I'm also using Actionscript to create some particle
effects (fairy dust if you must know). And I just realized to my
horror that PNG Sequences, actually NOTHING, exports actionscripted
    events. AAAGH!
So I wanted the forums opinions on the following options:
    1. Does Flash CS3's export tools take Blending Modes,
Filters, and Actionscripted events into consideration? I'll upgrade
    if I have to.
    2. Is there a third party tool that can save images from a
published .SWF file? Like a screen capture tool?
    3. Is there any way to pause a .SWF and advance it frame by
frame? I'm desperate enough to print screen every frame if I have
    to...
    Thanks in advance!

flashants.com is where you can get the SWF2Video tool which
is also talked about in the artile I
wrote - what do you mean you couldn't see it?
The Quicktime Exporter is designed to export dynamic content
    - so yes, in theory it will do what you
want - but beware - it is not perfect - in fact, if you have
a high frame rate (who doesn't) and a
lot of animation - forget about it. Here's my standard
    copy/paste response to this feature:
Turn off audio. The audio in a Flash movie may also slow the
    performance
possibly causing dropped frames. Turn off the audio, if you
    have many
dropped frames in the first attempt. Other video editing
    tools can be used
to add the audio to the video after export.
Reduce frame rate. If the movie dimension is a full size
    NTSC video, 740 x
480, and frame rate is 30 fps, you are more likely to have
    dropped frames.
Reduce the fps of Flash movie increase the chance of
    grabbing all the
frames. Other video editing tools can be used to adjust the
    frame rate of
    the video after export.
Optimize your animation. Try to avoid a lot of screen
    motion. The greater
the area of change on the screen, the more likely slowdown
    will occur. Also,
if possible, restrict your use of transparency and alpha
    channels as they
    too can cause poor performance.
Use ActionScript 3. Animation created by ActionScript 2 and
    ActionScript 3
are different in play back performance. Convert the
    ActionScript in your
animation to ActionScript 3 for optimized performance.
Dimension settings in 2 places. The dimension settings in
    Export Settings
dialog sets the dimension of the SWF movie to be captured.
    The Size settings
in QuickTime Settings dialog sets the dimension of the
    exported MOV files.
If the SWF size is smaller than the exported MOV size, the
    picture quality
will be degraded; if it is larger than the exported MOV
    file, you may have
better picture quality. For best quality (and often
    performance) these
    settings should match.
Most likely - you will experience dropped frames at best.
This feature is not perfect. SWF3Video
does an amazing job of converting SWF movies to AVI - it has
saved my *ss on many many many projects.

  • How to embed interactive flash in PDF

I am trying to place an interactive Flash .swf file into a
PDF. I don't want it to just play through like a movie. I need
people to be able to click through it, and interact with it as if
it. There are, for example, 4 matching problems. So a person will
match for the question in problem 1, then click a button to see if
they got them right or wrong, then click next to go to the next
question. We've gotten it so that you can do all the interaction in
the PDF, but it first playes through all the questions and actions.
Basically it playes through it like a movie. Does anyone know how
to get it so it doesn't play through like a movie and instead is
just an interactive piece? Sorry that this is really
    confusing.

You can use SWLoader for that:

  • Audio from Flash CS3 Video overlapping

audio from Flash CS3 Video overlapping
help stopping the FLVPlayback instance (which has an instance
name of theVideo) when another button is clicked!
How do I stop flv playback when user clicks a navigation
    button ...
Excuse me in advance for asking about a topic that may be
    very popular!
I'm using the attached code to go from the main stage to one
subset of .swf files (loaded movies) and I apparently have no
problems with overlapping. Hell, the files even seem to unload
themselves correctly. Then, when I go to my second subset of .swf
files (with the exact same AS3 structure), which has a Flash Video
file (made by the FLV Playback component), I get into an
overlapping problem associated with the audio.
How can I stop, cancel, or unload the audio when the file is
clicked away from (the user selects another button on the main
    stage)?
Code attached. Please let me know if anything else is needed.
    Yours Sincerely,
    Jntspecialty

I have tried to clean up code and do this right.
I need help referencing (storing the value in the variable
"stopsoundoverlapReq") the "flvplayback instance AFTER theVideo is
instantiated (ie, the frame that contains theVideo has rendered)"
    correctly.
Also, now I need help with the name of my nav bar button's
method followed by parentheses, which should include the
    appropriate method parameter.
On my main timeline, I tried to clean up the code and use:
    var stopsoundoverlapReq:FLVPlayback =
    stop("videopage.swf/MovieClip(ldr.content).theVideo");
Then for my nav bar button on this same timeline use:
    any_btn.addEventListener(MouseEvent.CLICK, stopsoundoverlap);
    function stopsoundoverlap(event:MouseEvent):void
    stopsoundoverlap.stop(stopsoundoverlapReq);
The 3 errors I get now are :
1046: Type was not found or was not a compile-time constant:
    FLVPlayback. var stopsoundoverlapReq:FLVPlayback =
    stop("videopage.swf/MovieClip(ldr.content).theVideo");

    reference with static type Function.
    stopsoundoverlap.stop(stopsoundoverlapReq);

    var stopsoundoverlapReq:FLVPlayback =

  • Flash 8 video in Flash 7

  • Adding volume switch to Flash 8 video and stopping it play before it plays

Can anyone help me on how to add a volume bar that works on
    Flash 8 video?
I have this script on the video:
    myVideo.seekBar=mySeek;
    myVideo.playPauseButton=myPlay;
    myVideo.volumeBar = myVolum;
    myVideo.stopButton = myStop;
I want to add a volume switch to my video.
Does anyone know what I need to get a volume switch working?
I´ve added a volume bar and tried to get it working but it
    does'nt.
I also want my Flash video not to start but you have to click
the button 1st to get it to play. Anyone know?

    Try this, worked for me:
    http://www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/custom_flvcomp_03.html
Also, if you want to initiate the video to start with a play
button, have a fake player(graphic) and a stop action. On the next
frame have your video component set to play automatically in the
parameters, and have the play button you have made to goto the
    frame with that component..

  • Flash 8 video controls + other madness

I'm really having a hard time with this :
    I have a _level0 swf. it loads somemovie.swf into level 1.
    somemovie.swf imports a class i've written.
The class I've written works great with flash 7 video, but
when flash 8 video it acts up like this:
In my class, I have a few functions that draw rectangles,
write text, etc.. When there are skinned controls on the flash 8
video, none of that shows up. When the flash 8 video doesn't use
    skinned controls, everything works fine.
Does anyone have ANY clue what this could be?

It’s hard to see what it is doing from the snippet of
code you shown. I am just curious on where it is you are initiating
this new class? It might be easy to assign it to the same level.
Also how are you loading this incoming SWF? I know in Flash 8
there are restrictions that are causing your problem. See the link

Can you guys help me out? Thanks very much!

    No experts required...
Just click on the FLVplayback component and open the
Component Inspector window. There you will see lots of options to
control your video, one option being Autoplay. Set that to false
and your video will not start until the play button is
    pushed.
