Interactivity in Timelines or Slideshows

Is it possible to add on-screen navigation buttons in either a timeline or a slideshow? Alternatively, is it possible to use the remote control NEXT CHAPTER | PREVIOUS CHAPTER buttons to navigate from one menu to another (instead of one chapter to another)?
Basically, we have a "legacy" DVD template created with Scenarist that allows menus to be controlled using the NEXT CHAPTER | PREVIOUS CHAPTER buttons on the remote control.
We have adapted this template to Encore by using Menus, and targeting the onscreen buttons appropriately, but would like to - if possible - use the remote control buttons to skip from menu to menu as if you were going from chapter to chapter. The other solution, of course, would be to use a timeline or slideshow if we could display navigation buttons on screen.
Any ideas?

Encore does not yet support buttons over video. So I can eliminate one of your solutions.
As for menu nav via next/previous buttons, I don't know of a way to do that. But I can't say for certain that there *isn't* a way to do it in Encore.
Obviously the workaround would be Auto-activated Next/Previous buttons on the menu, with the default button being either Next/Previous.

  • Question from the Blog: slideshow music

We had the following question come from the Photoshop.com blog that covers the Gallery changes:
Question: "When I try to create a express slideshow it will let me pick out a  template then I can’t add music or get a timeline or anything else for  that matter !! Have talked with your tech. help people & that got  me no where ..."
Answer: Our slideshow engine did change recently, and the ability to add music, as well as the default slideshow experience, changed. In the case of music, it is not available at the moment (but we realize that it's a really nice feature to have. For the time being, you can create excellent slideshows with music and transitions and effects, using either Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements, and share those on ps.com).
The default sharing slideshow also changed, from that 3-D floating model to the new Midnight theme. The primary driver for that change was to drastically improve the loading time for the slideshows, and in fact, the slideshows now load in a fraction of the time, and offer a superior viewing experience with real full screen, as opposed to the previously limited large view available in the former model. But we're adding new themes and templates all the time, and we understand the appeal of a deep, interactive experience for sharing slideshows. Again, in the meantime, until new themes come available directly online, you can choose from a variety of very interactive and fun themes if you share photos and video directly from Photoshop Elements or Premiere Elements to Photoshop.com.

  • Sharing interactive content without using DPS

Hi, I would like to share content I've produced in InDD CS5.5 including interactive content (Pan & Zoom, slideshow etc.) with colleagues within my company.
Do I need to go through the full DPS procedure or is there a simpler way? If I do need to go the DPS route, how do I ensure my content remains confidential and viewable within my company only?
    Many thanks for your help.

The Adobe DPS process has been streamlined with the new creative cloud service. http://www.adobe.com/au/products/creativecloud.html
This also depends on what you are wanting to do with the content as you also require enrollment as an iOS developer ($99 per year)
If you already registered as iOS developer, follow these instruction to add UDID of your devices and activate it as registered devices.
Login to iOS Dev Center http://developer.apple.com/devcenter/ios/index.action
Click iOS Provisioning Portal on the right menu.
Click Devices on the left menu and you will see Current Registered Devices.
Click Add Devices button on the right side.
There are two fields called “Device Name” and “Device ID“.Fill the device name to recognize where the UDID belong to, and fill the Device ID with UDID you have copied from iTunes (by clicking serial number on device summary).
Click the “+” button to add the UDID and another form will show up to registered anotherdevice. If you don’t need to add another device, click Submit button on the bottom to save changes.
    You are done.

  • Flash 8 Slide Show

Can anyone help me? I have been beating my head against a
wall for two days trying to do a simple slide presentation. The
tutorial is sooooooooooooooo vague and the example gives steps to
doing something I am not in the least interested in doing right
now. I think this is the most frustrating software I have ever
used, but I won't give up!!!! Is there anyone out there that could
spend some time with me and help me do some simple things, like a
slide show that fades in and out, can anyone explane it to me in
simple terms. I am new at this but have used "Front Page" for
alomost two years. I want to upgrade and get proficient at Flash
and Dreamweaver. So far the help menues have been absolutely
discouraging and of no help at all.
Thank you for any help you can give me,
    Need it to be simple.

Very few things worth doing in life are completely simple and
easy. You would be amazed at how many folks come to Flash and
expect to be able to do some incredibly complex and fully developed
application within a few tutorials. Really not going to happen!
Almost nothing in creating a Flash XML Slide Show is all that
difficult – if you approach it one small problem at a time.
But if you try and make the whole thing in one pass it certainly
    will be daunting.
I don't know what tutorial you are using so it is difficult
to advise on that front. But often the "something I am not in the
least interested in doing right now" part either means you are
doing the wrong tutorial or you are far to impatient and should
slow down your expectations a bit. Maybe.
For the OP, are you trying to make a timeline based slideshow
where the images are all imported to the stage and then revealed
with some animations or perhaps even with a click of a forward/back
button? Or are you trying to make an actionscript based type of
interactive extensible slide show. Your answer will very much
affect how we could possibly help here.
For jim boles. Same thing. None of a Flash XML slide show is
all that hard – but it is really difficult to remember that
you were out to drain the swamp when you are up to your (ahemmmm)
in alligators! The forum shows this is your first post. So first,
something like that would likely get more help in the Actionscript
forum. Then additionally I would think you should have a history of
"How do I use the MovieClipLoader to load external Images" and "How
do create a nice XML transfer" and "onEnterFrame vs. setInterval:
what is your favorite way to fade a clip?" You should tackle each
of these little problems before you try and combine them all
    together.
There is a reason that a lot of folks charge for such things.
It is an investment in time, learning, and development to make such
    a thing.

  • Width/height/x/y value mismatch with the reality and what is coded

    hello there everyone,
hope i got the title right..,
so here goes the problem i need your opinion and help to solve:
    application definition:
i have this desktop flash application that will go fullscreen what this application do is loading external asset (mostlySWF) and play it inside this application. Each external asset will be place inside a container/holder (empty movie clip created by code), each of this container have it's own dimension ( width, height, x, y).my code all working without any warning nor error.oh and i also have an image.jpg/png as it's background and place at the bottom of display list (depth = 0), the image is customly made with using photoshop and each container location and dimension also measured there so it just needed to be writen down is the XML file..,
    the problem:
the bug is when i loaded some image of those background image each container width, height,x,y  will mismatch with what i have in the XML file.
the funny thing is when i trace the value of each container width, height,x,y it value is the same with what the XML has yet by seeing with eye you know that is wrong..,
    here's the code i used:
var myXML:XML; //to hold the loaded xml file
var SWFList:XMLList; //used to hold a list of all external swf source, atribute and etc
var xmlLoader:URLLoader = new URLLoader(); //intance of URLloader class used to XML file
var totalSWF:int; //hold the total number of external swf there is to be loaded
var mainContainer:MovieClip =new MovieClip();//act as the main container
var SWFContainer:MovieClip; //hold the loaded SWF as it's child
var swfLoader:Loader; //instance of loader class used to load the external swf
var myCounter:int = 0; //used to track how many external swf has been loaded and added to stage
var bgImageURL:String;//hold the url of the background image
var imageLoader:Loader;//intance of loader class used to load background image

        if(myCounter < (totalSWF-1))
            myCounter++;
            swfLoader = null;
            loadSWF();
i really do not have any idea why this could happen and how to solve it..,
any help would be greatly apprecited cause i'm literally meeting a dead end with this bug..,

    hello there kglad,
thanks for responding in this thread..,
i did what you told me :
i did check all of my loader instance till myLoader.parent.parent.parent and it return 1 for every single one of them
    but by removiing the "this.stage.displayState = StageDisplayState.FULL_SCREEN;"
i do get new error which is:
TypeError: Error #1009: Cannot access a property or method of a null object reference.
        at slideshow_fla::MainTimeline/doAspectRatio()
well from what it tokd me it came from my slideshow swf..,(this swf also fully code and has nothing placed on stage by manually)
the thing is in my mine swf code i never refer to what external asset property, i just told to load it and when the load is complete i put it in the display list..,
from googling i suspect that it played to early beacause i put the script in the first frame of the timeline of slideshow.swf
and for the moment i'm trying to find what error do cause it..,
(but why this didn't happen all the time??)
    here is the slideshow code:

  • "Memory Allocation Error" when Building a DVD

    Hi all!
I have a problem. When I start to build a DVD. Encore stops with a "memory allocation error". The project I tried to build is 3.06 GB, so it's must fit to a simple DVD. My HDD has enought free space.
I tried to build it on two totally different computers but the error is the same. I didn't find any answer for this error. Can anybody help me?
I use Encore CS4, and the project is made in Premiere Pro CS3.
    The computer #1:
Windows Vista (but I tried also with XP)
    1 GB RAM
    250 GB HDD
    The computer #2:
    Windows Vista
    2 GB RAM
    160 GB HDD

I get the same! I was having an issue with video files from my digital camera, so I opened up Premiere CS3, which took them in and encoded them to MPEG-2 just fine (tisk-tisk! Premiere and Encore CS4 both failed to play them or encode them properly!!!)
Them I put these MP2 files into a project which has 2 menus, 4 video timelines, 2 slideshows with 200+ images and some background audio files (one linked to a menu, another plays in sequence after first finishes). The project is for PAL screen, and it is 4-some Gb, but less than a disk. I have 4Gb of RAM and 6Gb of page file, 70Gb free on my HDD. Running Vista Ultimate x64.
Slideshows render, and videos do not require transcoding, so the project is ready to build, it starts writing the ISO file, and crashes after 1.8-1.9Gb is written.
There seems to be no easy way to re-create my slideshow, or I would have just re-built the entire Encore file to see if that would work.
My PC is overclocked, I admit, I have not tried it without an overclock, but my system has been uber-stable for 12+ months! I will try and report if it fixes anything, but I doubt it. I have also tried to run this build after a fresh reboot with mostly everything turned off, to prevent system conflicts. If that's what it is, I must have missed something. But Encore CS4 is BUGGY LIKE GOD KNOWS WHAT!!!!! This is one crash I can't get around, but it's not the only one I've had. If anyone knows an answer, PLEASE post it here! Adobe guys please please please please! My project's already held up for a month!

  • Adobe CS4 crashes upon SAVE

I have seen alot of problems posted over the years regarding Encore crashing.  I have been fortunate to have it working with only intermittent
problems.  However, now I am experiencing sever problems.
    Here's the issue.
I have the latest version of Encore (not a beta version) running on a Quad Core Vista 64BD 12 GB RAM 8 TB disk machine (very hefty) with daul 24" samsung monitors.  I have been working on a multi-disk DVD project.  Each disk will have 10 timelines, one slideshows, 10 menus, one sound track
on std DVD (non-bluray).  SImple right?
OK now here's what's happening.  I have created a template DVD so that I can use it for each DVD volume.  All of the menus will be the same.  I have created the template (saved as a regular Encore DVD), and the added each DVD's individual info.
I have been able to successfully save the first volume.  However, when I pull it back up to make a change to a menu (spelling type of problem)
and resave it, Encore crashed with a "Encore has developed a serious error" and crashes.  This happens when I try using the "save as" command as well.
Understand that this is happening on a saved project where a spelling error on a menu is being corrected and then resaved.
This is not an issue with hardware, speed, video drivers, etc.  This is something with Encore.
Anyone want to chime in?  Jeff?

    Jeff,
Only using EncoreDVD 2.0, so this is not the same, but the one single Encore error that I have ever gotten was with a Project "template" similar to what you are doing, just more Timelines, but no SlideShows. That was on about #15 of 17 DVD sets. Never found the issue, but just redid that one Project and all worked fine. In my case, there was no crash, just an error on Build. Never had a crash in all these years.
Sorry that I have no ideas for you, but wish you good luck,
    Hunt

  • LoadClip fails to load Hi-Res image

    Hi Guys,
I am trying to load a image with resolution of 3849 x 3535
using the loadclip method of a MovieClipLoader. When I catch the
onLoadProgress event of the MovieClipLoader, its shows that the
image is downloaded completely (by reading the bytesLoaded and
bytesTotal parameters). But the image is not downloaded completely
it displays most of the region of the image, I can see about 75% -
80% of the image but the rest of the image is missing.
Currently I am using Player 9.0, but I have also tried it
    with Player 8.0.
Is this happened with anybody else? Kindly help me out with
    this?

You're welcome. I wanted to say also, that if resizing isn't
    an option,
loading in chunks can work really well. We did an interactive
    JLo timeline,
and the seamless background image was over 11,000 pixels wide
    - loading it
in pieces, into one master clip, worked without a hitch.

Before I renew - want to know if I can publish an iPad app with Creative Cloud, or do I need to upgrade to Creative Suite or Digital Publishing Suite?
    Thanks!

Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition was added to the Cloud in Sep 2012
    http://blogs.adobe.com/creativecloud/dpsse/
"As a Creative Cloud member, you can now create, develop, and deliver iPad apps using the tools you’re already familiar with. Design brochures, personal portfolios, yearbooks, annual reports — and integrate interactive elements such as slideshows and image sequences — using our latest release: the Digital Publishing Suite, Single Edition.
This new functionality comes as a plugin to InDesign, making it an approachable and intuitive solution that leverages your existing skills — so if you know print design, you already know how to create an iPad app. What’s even more exciting is that, as a Creative Cloud member, you get the exclusive benefit of being able to submit an unlimited number of iPad apps to the Apple App Store. If purchased separately, publishing each app costs US $395."

  • Simple concise business server setup

Moving from xp, awaiting delivery of mini server and desktop clients this week with installation next weekend. Is there a single concise document anywhere on how to set up a small business server so users have a common address book as well as private, how they can interact with timeline (or is that only for local files?), does timeline work on the server and if not what then. How to configure imap on the mail server etc What are the gotchas, the donotforgets etc. Millions must have done this before me so I dont want to reinvent the wheel. I'd VERY much appreciate any pointers rather than keep searching through all the discussions as I'm doing now.
    Many thanks, Bill

Brilliant! Many thanks for that link. However, I 'm still in the dark as to:
    a. how users and timemachine interact ie can a user use timeline to step back a few saves or can that only be done by admin via remotedesktop.
With Lion there is a function called "Versions" which will provide a local copy of the edited files, so the user could get back in time without having TimeMachine configured and saving the whole computer.
But it doesn't replace a backup! When the harddrive dies, all versions will be lost

  • Timeline Slideshow question

I'm trying to create a slideshow in Dreamweaver MX similar to
the same style as this webpage has:
    http://www.milliestuxandbridal.com/
The problem I have is that when I do create it according to this
    tutorial:
    http://www.adobe.com/support/dreamweaver/interactivity/slideshow/slideshow02.html
I get this message when I preview it in a browser (IE7): To protect
your security, Internet Explorer has restricted this page from
running scripts or ActiveX controls. I can allow the script to run
but I must be doing something wrong because I don't get this
message when I view MilliesTuxandBridal. Can anyone figure out how
they made the slideshow in Millie's website so that a security
message doesn't show? Should I make the slideshow in Flash instead
of Dreamweaver? Or is there another program or tutorial I should
try? Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Thanks for any help with
this matter. By the way, I would like to make this slideshow with
10 photos and to have the photos overlap each other slightly.
    Thanks again.

I am still trying to figure out the Timeline in Dreamweaver
and I appreciate the help I have received. I was actually able to
make it work with this tutorial
    http://www.flawebdeb.com/septdebtip.htm
. Although it did work well after uploading my page to my webhost,
I noticed that the slideshow, which worked well in IE7 did not
rotate through the slideshow in Firefox 1.5.0.5. (I have tried it
on several computers/browsers). One other thing I am after is a way
to make the Timeline rotate images with a slight overlap of images
instead of just swapping the images. I did try using different
layers on different channels but was unsuccessful. I did notice one
other mistake I have been making and not sure which way is correct.
When I use a layer with a image in the Timeline, do I use the layer
or the image? (I did see one of each in one of my test
    timelines)

  • Timeline based presentation (non interactive)

    Hello,
I work in a drugstore and I want to advertise the products and give some useful info using a mac mini 1.4 Ghz 512 RAM. The computer will run the presention in loop mode.
However, every month our small cities drugstores make a list in which list is displayed witch drugstore will stay open all night long.
Is it possible to define a timeline and tell Keynote what to display in every loop and what to display for specific hours? I mean something like:
"Show this slide from 13:00 till 23:00 at 14/02/2007"
"then show another slide from 23:00 14/02/2007 to 08:00 15/02/2007"
    etc?
I believe that it does not exist such an option in Keynote, I already know it's made for interactive presentations (do we have a tool on macosx for non interactive presentations?) but maybe with applescript is possible..

If there is a solution on this I'd like to know
