Interactivity within Briefing Book Reader

I was wondering if you create a briefing book .sbb file which is a snapshot of a dashboard, whether there is an option to be able to drill into some of the graphs on the dashboard to their detail level when viewing in the briefing book reader.
For example, if I have a graph on a dashboard and there is a navigation link on one of the measures to be able to drill into a detail report, how do I set up the briefing book to be able to have the same interactivity as the dashboard it came from. Or is the best practice to keep adding pages to the briefing book and view them one at a time without any user interactivity.
Thanks.

Briefing book primarily consists of static reports. So you need to add all the pages to the briefing book. But if you want the same amount of interactivity you can use disconnected analytics. I have blogged about it today here http://oraclebizint.wordpress.com/2007/11/23/oracle-bi-ee-101332-working-with-disconnected-analytics-sadis-utility/ if you quickly want to test how it works.

  • Printing briefing book from reader as a PDF

    Hi all,
In 10g, is there a way when viewing a briefing book through the briefing book reader, to print as a PDF? Similar in concept to when you're in Answers, open a briefing book, and clicking on the 'Print Now' button.
    Thanks.

    Thanks, Nico.
I tried that route already. The user would have to print each page one by one. There's 15-20 pages. If all pages can't be saved at once, the user will have to go to Answers to open the briefing book and click the 'Print Now' button. Then they have all pages in one document via one click of a button. Originally, the user didn't want to be bothered with remembering to go into Answers (they don't use Answers much and this metric package is run once a month) so I was going to do this with ibots and send the briefing book reader via email.
    Thanks again.

  • How can I use data merge, within a master, within a book?

    Hi all,
I am producing an 84pp catalogue for multiple brands.
I have it set up as:
    1x .indd document per spread
Master styles within one .indd document for black text, white text etc.
Book setup to contain all of the .indd files to make up the 84pp book
Now, my problem is I have to change the footer text and references depending on the brand, so I can have the footers saying 'Call Brand A on 123 4567' or 'Call Brand B on 567 1234' and have various in-text references change from Brand A to Brand B and vice versa.
I have a data merge on each of the masters in my .indd style source looking at a simple .csv of:
    Brand Name
    URL
    Phone Number
    Brand A
    www.branda.com
    0800 123 4567
    Brand B
    www.brandb.com
    0800 567 1234
This works fine on the masters within the source .indd.
But, when I close this master style source and go into another .indd document within the book (after synchronising) I see the <<Brand Name>> container but, when I export the documents it does not populate the book with the data - it keeps the containers.
Obviously with a normal in-document Data Merge you'd click 'Create Merged Document' but I don't want to export each page, and I have PDF print presets / .joboptions file with settings for the book.
Any advice on how to get this to work?
    Thanks!
    Andy

I'm not really following the workflow here, but this seems like it might be better suited to Conditional Text than to Data Merge.

  • How can I add multiple addresses to a group within address book?

I realize you can add in addresses by going to 'Message' then 'add Sender to Address Book,' but what I'm interested in doing is within Apple Mail, adding multiple addresses into a specific group within address book. I've tried to do this using mail scripts but keep getting an error.
Is it possible to do this?
    Thanks.
    David

So far, FWIW all I've got is individual AddToAddressBook, then in AB itself, drag and drop one by one from the main list into the desired group.

  • Automatic generation of PDF file from briefing book in OBIEE11g

    Hi all,
Could anyone tell me if exist a way to generate PDF files from briefing books automatically in OBIEE11g?
    Thanks
    Annalisa

I only got so far when I tried to do this in Windows. The problem comes when you try to tell the printer to print to a file with a particular name.
The first steps are to get GhostWriter for Windows.
Then you install the Apple LaserWriter pro 600 driver which can print to a postscript file (try it manually first). GhostWriter can then, with a command line command, using a java Process, convert that to a .pdf file.

  • How to create a briefing book in Shared Folders

    Hello,
Firstly, can the subject of this thread be achieved?
I am able to create a briefing book (within My Briefing Books) and use delivers to deliver it to myself. However, I receive the access denied error message when trying to send the same BB to a user.
I have created a folder within the shared folder area and copied my BB to the folder. I have added this user to the presentation server administrators group and tried using delivers to deliver the BB from the shared folder, but alas it deosnt work which suggests the BB in essence doesnt exist in the shared folder.
Anyway, can anyone let me know if it can be done, if so, how is it done?

  • Problem with Briefing Books and iBots

I have a question about the usage of Briefing Books and iBots:
In my Briefing Book there are different analysis, some with tables and others with charts and graphs.
The problem is, when I send this Briefing Book to my email by iBot, then the file attached to the email does not contain the charts anymore. There are just the tables left. When I watch the same Briefing Book directly in Answers, everything is displayed all right.
Does anyone know, why this happens.

    Hi there
If the page is not actually inside of a Book, the WebHelp generation process will sense that.
If you want a Book, try right-clicking the page in the TOC editor and choose "Create Book from Page". This should create a book with the page inside it. Of course both will have the same name, so you may need to rename the Book. Or rename the page. Your choice.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Cache Seeding using Briefing Books in iBots

    Hi All,
I'm trying to seed the cache using Briefing books in iBots.
    1. Created the Briefing book of a Dashboard page with required dashboard prompt values
    2. Selected this 'Briefing Book' as Delivery Content
    3. Scheduled the iBot
But, despite of iBot running successfully, Cache is not being seeded.
    Am i missing any steps?
Moreover, in 'Destinations', if i just check 'Interactive Dashboards' & 'Active Delivery Profile',
    No cache entries created
But if i check 'e-mail' or any of the devices,
then a cache entry is generated for the default dashboard prompt values* but not for the prompt values selected for the Briefing Book*..
    Please help
    Thank you,
    Raghu

    Hello Madan,
    Thank you for the reply..
"Oracle BI Server Cache" can only be used for the answer pages/dashboard pages with default prompt values..
Any other way to get the Cache seeded for other prompt values too..
    other than the manual seeding
    Thank you,
    Raghu

  • Disclosure Management cannot be installed  - Error on Briefing Books

    Hello Experts,
I am trying to install SAP Disclosure Management Server directly in a specific server that our technical team provide me.
This server has every requirements that DM Server needs to be instaled.
In the first step of DM Server installation where we should choose the database I've chosen from a list of databases one named as <localhost> which I think it is a SQL database because when I checked in SQL Management Studio the Disclosure Management DB was there.
Since I've never worked with DM I followed SAP manuals and there was saying that when the wizard installation is finished we should do http:// <host>:<port>/ in an internet browser to test the Server Installation and then a Log in session should be opened.
When I do this an error is appearing: Could not load file or assembly 'BIPBriefingBook' or one of its dependencies. An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format.  and does not appears the Log in as it was supposed to.
I read in other sap manual that briefing books are groups of queries created in SAP DM, but I don't understand where.
Is it necessary to connect some specific database in order to instal DM server?
I hope someone that have installed DM can help me.
    Thank you,
    Nadine

    Hi Nadine,
After installation, check on the configuration file from there you can check the settings.
You may also separate DB Server from App Server.
To Access DM via web (IE) you may use the IP plus port assigned.

    Ran

  • Is it possible to save a briefing book to a shared folder

    Hello Gurus,
Is it possible to save a briefing book to a shared folder
    With regards!
    Ram

Is it possible to save a briefing book to a shared folderIf you can think of creating an automated process to ftp the files from "My Briefing Book" folders to a shared location based on some frequency. But you need to make a point here that each user's briefing book will be stored in its respective personal (My) location.

  • Briefing Book Title shows the name of the Analysis along with Report Name

    Hi,
When I add a report to the briefing books, The title of the PDF document shows the report name and below that it also shows the name of the analysis. Normally we save our analysis with some standard naming conventions having some special characters. Client does not need that name in the PDF.
How can I stop the Analysis Name to appear on the briefing book?
    Please suggest.
    Thanks
    Gaurav A.

That's a great question, and it seems like something that should be standard with iCal.
The only thing I could think of would be to add the patient as an invitee, but that still wouldn't solve the problem of having their name be the title of the appointment. But the auto-complete function is there.
The other option (which is more convoluded) would be to use Filemaker Pro. It is extremely powerful and customizable and there are plenty of people out there who know how to develop for it. This option would be more expensive, but it could also be custom-tailored to your needs.
Those aren't great answers so I'm interested to see what others say. I'd like to implement it into my own iCal app.

  • Hearing a book read aloud on iBooks

I'm a teacher, trying to help a student who needs to hear a text read aloud to her.
We've got the iPad, and the book is opened up in iBooks.
Where do we go to have the book read aloud?

There is not a speak option within iBooks itself, but speak selection can be enabled on the iPad.
Go to Settings > General > Accessibility > Speak Selection - On
Then when you select text in iBooks you can have it read out loud.
Note you can change the Dialect and Speaking rate in that same setting screen.
