Intercluster trunk problem

I have a trunk (Non-gatekeeper) between the legacy CCM 4.12 system and the new CCM 6.0. The trunk on the CCM 4 has the SUB then PUB listed, same on the CCM 6 side. Calls flow from the CCM 4 side to CCM 6 side no problem. Calls do not work from the CCM 6 to the CCM 4. Now here is the interesting part. This was working when I only had the PUB running on the CCM 6 side. I just added the SUB. So, I changed the server group to have the SUB listed first and moved the PUB to second. But I have updated the trunk config to match. But if I move the PUB up in the list and leave everything else the same and do a reset everything starts working again.

I have the same problem with the ICT.
from a single CCM 6.0 to a 4.2 cluster works fine, but not the other way.
Do you resolved your problem? If yes what you changed?

  • One Way Calling on Intercluster trunk between 4.1.3 and 3.3.x

We've encoutered a bizarre situation, one which so far even TAC is stumped on.
We just turned up a new site, running 4.1.3SR3b and have set up the usual intercluster trunks (non-gatekeeper) between the new site and our other sites. Most of our other sites are 3.3.4 or 3.3.5. Calls from the other sites to the new 4.1.3 site work fine, but when you try to call from the 4.1.3 site to another site, the phone rings on the receiving end for a split second (not even a full ring), then the calling end gets a fast busy. Detailed traces on both ends show the info getting to the receiving end, but when the call drops, this appears on the sending end:

We just tried the latest engineering special (63 I believe), but the issue remains. Has anyone encountered this before?
This occurs with either G711 or G729 codecs, with or without MTP's enabled on the intercluster trunks.

    Hi,
Did you checked the H245 Options in the CCM trace options?
I dont see any H245 messages in CCM.
I see that this IP Phone (43867) is registered to node 2.
Is this the SUB in PHL cluster?
    We sent a H225Setup sent to IP=10.12.1.12
    In the other side:
    H225Handler::SdlConnectionInd: from IP=10.40.2.11
If this non-gatekeeper-controlled intercluster trunk accesses the device pool of a remote non-gatekeeper-controlled intercluster trunk and that device pool has a second Cisco CallManager node, you must enter the second remote Cisco CallManager IP address/host name in this field. (ie. Cluster1 4 servers and Cluster2 2 servers
ICT1 has a CCM Group which contains 3 servers.
ICT2 has a CCM Group which contains the 2 servers
In ICT1 you need to enter the 2 server's IP addresses.
In ICT2 you need to enter the 3 server's IP addresses)
Make sure the order is correct.
In the incoming cluster I see IP Phone is registered to node 3.
Node selection for outgoing calls is controlled by which node the originating endpoint is registered with. If the originating endpoint is registered to the same node as the H.323 Trunk, the call is signaled from that node. If the originating endpoint is not registered to the same node as the H.323 trunk, a random selection is made between all nodes configured with the H.323 trunk
This error is the one which terminates the call taken from SDL in CCM SUB 3.

    Temporary failure (cause code 41)
Normally this happens when GW, in this case the ICT is not registered correctly.
In CCM PHL, I see this:.

This means that TCP connection was ended. By checking the SDL looks like destination node send a RST at TCP level and thats why call finishes. But problem seems to be the CMH cluster.
If ICT configuration is fine I would reboot|restart ccm.exe service in the CMH cluster.
If after that it doesnt work I would open a TAC case so we can get access and check whats going on.

    Hello,
I can see many people have visited the post but there isn't any reply.
I think this is because of the following:
The configurations are long and most people dont want to read it. Try adding only relevant configuration to the issue.
The problem description is not clear. You mention trunking problem but what exactly is the problem? Can you ping from switch to ASA? Is any Vlan information being passed or they are all failing. Try to be as much specific as possible.
Which port of the switch connects to the ASA?
Using portfast on a trunk (interface GigabitEthernet1/0/1) is not recommended.
    Regards,
    Felipe.

  • Intercluster trunk with Lync Integration

I have a customer who is looking to build a couple of intercluster trunks between 8.5 CUCM clusters.  Originally I was looking at doing a non-gatekeeper h323 trunk, but the customer has stated that they will be moving to a Lync-CUCM integration in the near future.  Question is is the h323 intercluster trunk still a viable option, and if so what do I gain or lose with a h323 trunk as opposed to a SIP intercluster trunk?

H323 trunk is still a viable option however imagine a call from Cluster A's 7945 SCCP phone to Cluster B's Lync client. It will be SCCP -> H323 -> SIP -> Lync client. Do you want all that protocol translations. I wouldnt just from a troubleshooting perspective but should work fine though.

  • Intercluster trunk

This is a stupid question but I need to clarify it,
I have to seperate site running callmanager and I want to set up an intercluster trunk between them. Does Phone A at site A need to have an ip path to Phone B at site B, or is it only the callmanagers subnets that need to have a connected IP path? in other words do the callmanager at each site proxy the voice from the phones?

    Hi,
You need to have an IP path between the two phones. CallManager is responsible of the signalin. Voice is transmitted from an end IP device (phone, gateway) to an another IP end divice (phone, gatewat).
    Hope this helps,
    Juan Luis

  • Intercluster trunk restrictions

    Dear All,
Is there a restriction in creating an intercluster trunk between 2 call managers. I'm trying to simulate this in a lab environment where i have one Call manager version 10.5 connecting to a Call Manager 7.1.X to route some calls outside my lab CUCM to another one.
Do intercluster trunk need to match CUCM versions? i'm not really seeing any calls getting through across the trunk, in call manager 7 there seems to be no way to check the uptime of the trunk nor see if it's active. I'm using DNA tests to see if the call gets routed over de trunk and it does.
    Kr,
    Yannick Vranckx

No, you can have an ICT between different version, hopefully you're not using a SIP trunk, we only recommend that if all clusters are 8.6(2) and above, if you need to trunk with a lower CUCM version, use the old ICT non-GK controlled. Aside from that, the rest of the config is the same, RP, RL, RG, CSS, partitions, etc.

  • Route pattern to SIP trunk problem

Hello, I have a 2801 router that has been configured with CME and a working SIP connection to my local ISP.
Tested with calls via CME so I know for sure that the SIP config and dial plan is fine on this gateway.
Next I wanted to try out CUCM so I set up a CUCM 8.6 box that is connected to the 2801 router to use as it's SIP gateway.
The only change I made to the gateway router config was to alter the "ip option 150" address so that the phones go to CUCM for their configs etc (which they do with no problems).
Then I set up a SIP trunk in CUCM along with a route pattern which is to use the SIP trunk within the Gateway/Route list option.
But when I make a call that matches this route pattern all I get is the intermittent beep message from the phone. I cannot route calls succesfully through it.
I have checked network connectivity and all is fine. The IP address I specfied in CUCM for the SIP trunk is simply one of the interfaces on the 2801 router and it is definitley reachable.
I also activated "debug ccsip all" on the 2801 gateway router but nothing appears. So it seems like the calls are not even reaching the 2801 gateway ?
Is the problem possibly a conflit between CME on the gateway router and my CUCM ?
Do I need to disable CME somehow on the gateway first ?  Or am I not doing something correct in the CUCM config ?
Thank you kindly for any suggestions.
ps. I have attached a couple of screenshots of my config.

    Hello, thanks for helping.
I activated "debug voice ccapi inout" as well as "debug ccsip all" on the gateway but nothing showed up.
Therefore I deduce the call is not even making it to across the SIP trunk into the gateway router ?
As I am a newbie trying this out for the first time, it is guranteed to be something really simple.
I have included my running config from the gateway router below..
One addition I made was to add an incoming dial peer. That is "dial peer 5,  description CUCM SIP trunk".
I set it up with a destination patter 2... to match my phone config on CUCM which have numbering in the 2000 range.
Sorry, I got RTMT up and running but could not get any meaningful results from it. I need to learn up on that.
I did however run a 'dialed number analysis' from CUCM direct and have attached the result. It seems the dialled number "99" is matching the route pattern OK.
So why is it not then moving down the SIP trunk to my gateway and getting picked up by the incoming dial peer ?
Thanks if you guys can offer any more help.

  • Analog trunk problem

I have an analog trunk plugged into a 2811 with a VIC2-4FXO. When the line is in use, if a call comes in on it, the caller hears one ring, then a busy signal (not just a busy signal). What would be causing this? It happens to be the last line in a hunt group that is set at the CO to forward on busy to another hunt group, but the forward isn't happening, probably because of that first ringback.

Likely the problem is not due to the router. If you do "debug vpm signal" you will see the incoming ring and port going off-hook. You should see that for engaged ports, no new call is presented, and is the router does nothing in generating ringback, as you said the line is busy already when the call comes in.
hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

  • UC320 PBX sip trunk problem

HI, I installed the UC320 for a customer and they have 19 users,  we are using sip trunk for voice traffic
it now encountered an annoying problem, The  isp is doing the maintenance in recent period and their sip trunk is coming down and up occasionally  at night.  Whenever the sip trunk broke and come up again, the UC320 seems loss the sync with the wan, and it can work for 1 or 2 days and then the phone can not dial externally and also the incoming call have the problem, Yet the internal call is ok, whenever, this happened, we need to restart the uc320 to resume the service.  I configured the auto maintainance happen at Sunday morning 3am , yet, there are times that the sip trunk broke happen on Monday night, then we usually get the complaint from the custom around Wed. or Thurs.  and then we had to restart the system to resume the service.  It is really troublesome. Do you have any idea how to deal with the problem. Is it a bug of cisco uc320? Is there any software update or any  patch for this problem?
    We are running 2.3.2(6) now.

    HI
Thank you for your reply, but the thing seems a bit more complex, our network configured as unregistered by the requirement of isp, and it works nicely. when the sip broke down and come up again, the pbx can work normally for 1 or two days and then it seems drifted away. and the problem at  beginning is minor with only a few phones malfunction, and can be retored by restart the phone, but as the time goes by , the problems seemd deteriorated until all phones not working and we have to restart the pbx.
I check the external trunks, the status of sip is unregistered. it is required by isp to be configured so. it works nicely as long as the sip trunk is on.

  • Unified communication sip trunk problem after modifying topology

    hi all
i have UC and its fine and sip trunk is ok
    the toplogy is as below
    UC------------------internet
now im going to add ASA with UC with new topology
    UC-------------ASA-------------internet
the pbx internally is ok   , but sip trunk is not working
pbx now have private ip and it can reach internet
the problem is sip trunks is not working !!!!
i will post the config of UC when its connected to Internet direcly and wish to help me why the 2nd topoloy no sip trunks working ?!!
do i need to do portforward ??
anyway here  the config when sip trunks works and when UC directly to internet

Try disabling SIP inspection on the ASA

  • Video call from Cisco 8945 SCCP to Polycom VVX 1500 Third party Sip Phones between intercluster trunks is not working

    Dear All,
We have two cucm Clusters in Different Locations between that clusters i created
Inter-Cluster Trunk (Non-Gatekeeper Controlled) Now all are working fine Between Clusters
audio calls & Video calls between sccp 8945 phones  , but iam facing a Problem with third party
Video Phones (Polycom VVX 1500 ) Third Party SIP Phones located in second cluster, From 1 st cluster cisco 8945 Video
phone to  2nd cluster Polycom Video phone all calls are works for voice call only, but no video ,
    Please Suggest me Solution.
    Thank you,
    Sriman

Try setting up a SIP trunk between the two clusters and set a route patten just to the VVX 1500 and check how that goes.
From memory inter-cluster trunks are a H.323 like protocol which might have video inter-op issues with the Polycom device.

  • Dividing ISL trunk problem

I have a network design issue to solve and need some help. Current network uses ISL to trunk vlans between two sites. Some encryption devices need to be installed that do not understand ISL (or BPDUs for that matter). I need to split the ISL, or tunnel it, so that the inside devices cannot see the L2 stuff but the end devices can still communicate. Any ideas?
    Regards ... John

    Hi Josh
I had to solve a very similar problem to yours, and the solution I came up with was to use L2TPv3 (layer 2 tunnelling protocol) over IPSEC. I used the same device (a pair of old 1700 series routers at each end) to create both the L2 tunnel and the IPSEC tunnel, but in your case you are using a separate device to do the encryption. You just need to create the L2 tunnel between 2 devices which are on the unencrypted side at each end. You need to ensure that the 2 devices can route to each other.

  • Two switches connected with fiber in mode trunk - Problem

    Hi to all.
Iam new in the forum, and my english is bad.
I want to post a problem. I have two switches connected with fiber in mode trunk, in the switch C3550 i have this configuration:
    interface FastEthernet0/1
    description Enlace LAB Medicion
    switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
    switchport mode trunk
    no ip address
    duplex full
    spanning-tree portfast
In the switch C2960 this configuration, on interfaces Fa0/48, Giga0/1:
    interface FastEthernet0/48
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,20,229
    switchport mode trunk
    spanning-tree portfast
    interface GigabitEthernet0/1
    switchport trunk allowed vlan 1,20,229
    switchport mode trunk
    media-type sfp
    duplex full
    spanning-tree portfast
    The problem:
The ip phones with Voice vlan (vlan 20), not find the DHCP server located in the data vlan (vlan 229)
    However, using the command:
    #switchport trunk native vlan 229
The result is the voice vlan works, but the data vlan not and viceversa depending if the native vlan 229 is present.
    I will appreciate any suggestion.

    leolaohoo.
The configuration on ports switch C2960, have the mode access with voice vlan 20:
    interface FastEthernet0/1
    switchport access vlan 229
    switchport mode access
    switchport voice vlan 20
    spanning-tree portfast
    interface FastEthernet0/2
    switchport access vlan 229
    switchport mode access
    switchport voice vlan 20
    spanning-tree portfast
I will remove from trunk links:
    spanning-tree portfast
    Thanks alot.

  • Vlan trunk problem

    Hi,
Im configuring a vlan trunk between 2 switches but I'm having a problem somehow.
    Switch 1 a Cisco 3750G n
    name: alrswcc00
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/28
     description Uplink Alrswcc20
     switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q
     switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-30
     switchport mode trunk
    end
    Name: Gi1/0/28
    Switchport: Enabled
    Administrative Mode: trunk
    Operational Mode: trunk
    Administrative Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q
    Operational Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q
    Negotiation of Trunking: On
    Access Mode VLAN: 1 (default)
Trunking Native Mode VLAN: 1 (default)
    Administrative Native VLAN tagging: enabled
    Voice VLAN: none
    Administrative private-vlan host-association: none
    Administrative private-vlan mapping: none
Administrative private-vlan trunk native VLAN: none
Administrative private-vlan trunk Native VLAN tagging: enabled
    Administrative private-vlan trunk encapsulation: dot1q
Administrative private-vlan trunk normal VLANs: none
Administrative private-vlan trunk private VLANs: none
    Operational private-vlan: none
    Trunking VLANs Enabled: 1-30
    Pruning VLANs Enabled: 2-1001
    Capture Mode Disabled
    Capture VLANs Allowed: ALL
    Switch 2 a Cisco 2960S
    name: alrswcc20
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/25
     description Uplink Alrswcc00
     switchport trunk allowed vlan 1-30
     switchport mode trunk
    end
    Name: Gi1/0/24
    Switchport: Enabled
    Administrative Mode: trunk
    Operational Mode: trunk
    Administrative Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q
    Operational Trunking Encapsulation: dot1q
    Negotiation of Trunking: On
    Access Mode VLAN: 1 (default)
Trunking Native Mode VLAN: 10 (Inactive)
    Administrative Native VLAN tagging: enabled
    Voice VLAN: none
    Administrative private-vlan host-association: none
    Administrative private-vlan mapping: none
Administrative private-vlan trunk native VLAN: none
Administrative private-vlan trunk Native VLAN tagging: enabled
    Administrative private-vlan trunk encapsulation: dot1q
Administrative private-vlan trunk normal VLANs: none
    Administrative private-vlan trunk associations: none

    Operational private-vlan: none
    Trunking VLANs Enabled: 10,20,30,40
    Pruning VLANs Enabled: 2-1001
    Capture Mode Disabled
Then lastly on switch 2 I created a port for an Ubiquiti access point with following settings.
    interface GigabitEthernet1/0/24
     switchport trunk native vlan 10
     switchport trunk allowed vlan 10,20,30,40
     switchport mode trunk
    end
But my AP doesn't seem the get an IP. Where as if I plug it in on Switch 1 it does with the same settings.
So I am assuming there is something wrong with my trunk. What am I doing wrong?
    Thank you,
    Michael

Here are a couple of observations:
    1.  The switchport trunk encap dot1q command was not applied on the 2960 because 802.1q trunking is the default.  The 2960 series switches do not support ISL encapsulation, as the OP observed.  There is, therefore, no need to manually specify the trunking protocol.  The show int g1/0/24 switchport command confirmed that trunking is working.  I find the show int g1/0/24 trunk command to be more informative in this context.  It tells you what VLANs are active and trunking between the connection.
    2.  You do need to define VLANS 2-30 on your second switch. You can do so manually or you can configure VLAN Trunking Protocol (VTP).  VTP is your easiest bet.  Example config:
    Switch 1
    sw1(config)# vtp mode server
    sw1(config)# vtp version 2
    sw1(config)# vtp domain MY_DOMAIN
    sw1(config)# vtp password MySecret
Issue a show vtp status  in priv exce mode to very your settings.
    Switch 2
    sw2# show vtp status
Do this command FIRST and make sure that the configuration revision number is smaller than the revision number of SW1.
    VTP Operating Mode                : Client
Maximum VLANs supported locally   : 255
Number of existing VLANs          : 25
    Configuration Revision            : 174
If config revision on SW2 is greater than config revision of SW1, then issue following command:
    SW2(config)# vtp domain bogus
    SW2(config)# vtp domain MY_Domain
    SW2(config)# do show vtp status
Your config revision should go back to zero.
Now issue the same commands on SW2.
SW2(config)# vtp version 2  (pretty sure that is default, but I issue it anyway)
SW2(config)# vtp mode client (means you cannot define VLANs on this switch.  Most admins prefer that only one switch be capable of creating VLANs).
    SW2(config)# do sh vtp status
The config revision was important because injecting a switch into your network that has a higher VTP revision can overwrite your existing VLAN database.  If that happens, chances are that most of your network traffic will cease to function as all of your access ports will be in a VLAN mismatch mode.
