Bad ping to most gaming servers the past 2 weeks. (Tampa Bay Area)

The past week in a half Ive been getting horrible ping to servers. Verizon says its on the servers side, but its not just to one server, its to every server hosted in Newyork/ chicago. Also I dont see everyone in the servers complaining about their connection. I did a tracert on one server and here are the results. But keep in mind Im getting bad ms to almost every game server I connect to. On this particular server I always got a constant 40ms, till about a week in a half ago since this happened. So a couple of things to note with your trace.
The latency between hops 2 and 3 suggests either connection or ICMP De-proritization if those two hops live in Tampa Bay. If they do not, this is suggestive of either MPLS being used (meaning that hop is really showing the ping of a hop further into the trace due to a tunnel established across the routers) or the hop with higher latency exists closer to Miami.
From there, the latency between Hops 3 and 5 is very good, assuming that is truly running from Tampa Bay to Miami by following a highway route. If both hops exist in Miami, that suggests a loaded circuit, but one that is not facing severe congestion.
Recently, it has been observed that Verizon stopped sending Traffic from Tampa Bay, to Miami, and then ride Verizon Business/UUNet to Atlanta. GA. Instead they "hot potato" all of the traffic off to other transit providers and ISPs in Miami. This is where the problem starts. Between Hops 5 and 6, we see a 200+ jump in latency. With latency this big between two bandwidth providers, this means the circuits are beyond saturated. They are 100+/100% on capacity and are in dire need of upgrading. Typically, these interconnects are several 10Gbps Ethernet links. Not hard to congest, but hard to get to show that kind of latency.
So what this means is one of few things. Either Verizon needs to stop playing games and help Telia upgrade the interconnectivity between each other, or Telia needs to help Verizon by opening up additional ports. Alternatively, this is likely a case where someone didn't approve of a capacity augment when shifting all traffic from Atlanta to Miami as a handover zone.
Needless to say, I'm sure we can all guess who is at blame here for that capacity problem. This is the same symptom many of us saw between Level3 and Verizon, both of whom are Tier 1 providers. TeliaSonera International and Verizon are also both Tier 1. Verizon, having a residential presence at the problem, likely has all circuits from Telia to Verizon running at max. In TeliaSonera's home country, Sweden, you'd likely see the exact opposite.

Re: the Adobe Developer Days - your message indicates this is about the "LiveCycle set of capabilities", yet I'm confused by the description on http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/events/index.html which states:
"This all day developer event will feature tips on developing with PDF as well as advanced JavaScripting techniques for Acrobat developers."
In my mind there is a big difference between an Acrobat developer vs. a LiveCycle (Desiger, Forms, Reader Extensions, etc.) developer. I wouldn't wnat to attend an Adobe Developer Day, expect to learn how to develop LiveCycle Designer forms and discover that the day focusses on Acrobat forms. Which is it?
Sometimes I find the flipping between "Acrobat" developers and "LiveCycle" developers on Adobe.com to be confusing; as I said in my mind, these are two different beasts (as has been stated several times in this forum, and has been the source for much confusion between "veteran" users of Acrobat Professional forms who are using LiveCycle Designer for the first time).
Perhaps you shed some light on this for me.

You can use the Query Builder (on the BusinessObjects Administration Launchpad under Administrative Tools) to query the CMS database.
The following query would return some details of all user groups in your system:
SELECT

Controlling visibility of an iView based on User groups...how ?

Hi SDNs,
I am trying to achive a functionality like:
There is Page with 3 iViews A,B & C and that Page is assigned to some role R.
And there are 2 user groups X & Y and i will assign that Role R to both the user groups.
But the User group X should be able to see only iViews A & B, where as user group should Y should be able to all A,B & C iViews.
I thought of proceeding like controlling Permissions at the iView level for the groups X & Y, but i couldn't do that because i don't know how to do
Can any one suggest a best solution for achieving this kind of functionality ?

people complaining about problems installing an office over another office are (dare i say it) stupid. it makes absolutely no sense installing one over the trial version. just uninstall the trial and you'll be fine. every single time.
as for problem with uninstalling mcafee (or any other antivirus, for that matter, just download the uninstaller from the software company e.g. http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS100507 for mcafee.
that said i believe you get to choose if you want mcafee and/or office when you go through the inital boot, the "on-screen instructions"
you can slow down the odd via power manager

I live and work in the Tampa/St. Petersburg FL area and was looking for a company that has implemented and using Business Objects Enterprise XI Release 2 SP2. Preferrably with SQL Server 2000, IIS, .NET and Crystal Reports XI R2, Active Directory authentication, on a Windows Server 2003 machine and a data mart.
Even if it is a different version, different database, using Java, different anything, I just would love to speak with someone and get any feedback, tidbits, direction, anything. I cannot find any user groups or I would be the first one there!
I am working on this project by myself from scratch for what is going to turn into a portal for thousands of employees. I am teaching myself BOXI Enterprise using forums, books, BOXI manuals, BOXI support and Google. I have never worked with Active Directory or servers, networking, I am a Crystal Reports person and SQL. This is a new and challenging project but of course it is needed yesterday and I am desperate for help. My company is not able to send me to training or I would be there.
Even if it's just a few spare moments of anyone's time I just would love to speak with you or someone that is the administrator BOXIE or uses it, works with it, anything. I'll come to your business if possible or speak on the phone.
I have questions like, who set it up? How many people set it up? What did you do first? Benefits with using business views and universes. How difficult was it to roll out. Did you train the users? Did you hire a consultant.
Again, anyone willing to speak to me, in person, on the phone, through e-mail, whatever means I would greatly appreciate it. I'm about to start calling business' if I can find them online that use BOXIE and see if I can speak to someone.
Thank you so much for any replies. If anyone knows of business' even I will call and see if an IT manager would let me talk to them just for a few or come and see their deployment. This may be asking to much but you never know.

We're using Crystal XI for our development over a combination of DB2 (iSeries M3 ERP), SQL Server (online customer app), SQL Server (product imaging)SQL Server Express (Client based scheduling ), Access (legacy quoting system), MySQL (web-based quality and improvement apps) and a SQL Server-based DataMart and OLAP warehousing tool.
We server our BI through Lawson Business Intelligence (LBI) which is built around BOXIE but proved to be more cost effective than BOXIE which we evaluated at the same time. We have about 10 years of experience creating and deploying Crystal-based BI.

While I'm in need to upgrade my little ibook (rendering takes forever) I wanted to get the opinions of people who use Adobe/ QT Pro/ and mainly FCP users who routinely use this machine for work.
Obviously, the one I'm interested in is the full blown 2.1 Ghz maxed out to the 2.5 Ram.
So if anyone already has this config and wants to tell the world how good/ not-so-good it is for rendering and major aps. please let me know all about it.

FCP user preference question

I got a project from overseas, gotta fly there to edit a video. they provide my basic facilities.
I used to edit on my own machine....because the short cuts and whole the favorite effects and transitions that I saved in my FCP.
So my question is, since I gonna shift my FCP user preference files to another FCP, do they affect other editor's preferences. I am pretty sure on the FCP, there are lots of preference settings that other editors made.
in particular, let's say my shiftcontrol2 is 3 ways color correction tool, but on the computer that I am going to use might not be the color 3 ways, it might be some other functions...
can i just save their preference in a folder, and put my preference in , and after i am done, and put back their preference..?

A FCP user gave me .mov's that PP CS5 cant open, what can I do? (File link enclosed)

A FCP shooter gave me .mov's that PP CS5 cant open, what can I do? I guess she rewrapped the files because as they try to import into cs5 a FCP loading diologe box opens stating: Importing FCP XML.... Afterwards it says i dont have the codec necc.
I'm PC based only.

If you tried XD Decode you must think that they originated as XDCam then, right? That is the codec I had to buy and once it was installed everything was transparent and normal. So I'm not sure what the crashing is all about, assuming your system meets the minimal tech. requirements. I'd give it another try if you haven't already.
Your best hope would be to locate the original camera files, which could very well have been deleted following the .mov copying via the Mac. I've had no problem with native XDCam in Premiere. The next best solution might be to have that FCP user do the conversions to another file format you can use. Hopefully there aren't thousands of them.
Firstodd, that's very interesting that your Avid MC was able to work with those files. I just found this from an Avid doc of last year: "If you want to play the exported movie in QuickTime, you need to purchase a third-party QuickTime plug-in. Avid recommends the Calibrated{Q} XD Decode from Calibrated Software"
Still, for the $80 I spent a year ago, XD Decode was well worth it in time saved. I see the price has gone up $50 since then though.
