We are a small advertising company in Taiwan. We are currently looking into purchasing the Adobe DPS, but there are a few confusing issues. Firstly, we'd like to use the publishing suite to create interactive catalogues for our clients, then upload these folios for our clients' potential buyers, etc. But with either the professional or enterprise version, we're not clear exactly how many folios can we upload per month to acrobat.com. Also, is it possible to pay monthly for DPS? I really hope that someone can help with these questions, it would be greatly appreciated.

The best way and easiest way to answers all your questions would be to contact the Adobe Partner in your area. They'll ask you a few questions about your needs and client base and express the options you will have if you choose to move forward with the solution.

And to give you a quick answer to your main question. Once you purchase your DPS licence folios are uploaded to an Adobe Distribution server and accessed through a separate Digital Publishing suite Dashboard. Currently there hasn't been an expressed limit on how many folios you can host or applications you can produce.
The limitation most people refer to regards to the "free preview" of folios hosted on acrobat.com. A free acrobat.com account will allow you to store one free folio to test out the tools. A paid acrobat.com accounts allows you a few more workspaces- thus more folios to preview. To produce the content commercially it is expressed you must first purchase a license.

Shooting photo's in RAW format crates pretty big files that will fill up the iPad's memory pretty fast if you shoot a lot during a (let's say) month long trip.
my idea was to use load the photo's to the iPad so i could view them and sort out any bad ones. then copy them over to the storage device so i can continue using my CF cards for shooting. I have an image thank for copying the photo's directly to the HDD but it would be so sweet to be able to check them on the iPad before hand.
any suggestions?

My daughter has an old itouch, she uses my apple I'd. I just got her a new I touch, and want to register it, but give her her own apple Id. I just backed up or synced her old itouch to the computer and now I am setting up her new one. If I give her a new apple Id will she then loose all her apps and songs from her old itouch? Please help!! I thought it was supposed to say something like restore from back up or something like that? Maybe that is a next step after I give her her own apple id?

Interesting- but so far seems OK

Well, the beastie is up and running nicely. I notice on the 20" monitors in dual screen edit mode the canvas and viewer are showing 130% to fill the window. VERY slightly degraded, but that's ok because 'm using an external monitor for everything critical.
Nothing chokes on playback, the Sony monitor looks good. But should I ruin the beautiful symmetry and shrink the windows down to 100%?
Is my addled brain missing something here?

There is no one here who's more knowledgeable about hardware than you, BC.
You're absolutely right - processing for the zoom level in the Viewer & Canvas is tackled by the GPU.
Just to throw it out there, the only display mode processing that I've noticed effecting the CPU/system's performance is setting background values in the Viewer/Canvas (aka , White, Checkboard 1, Checkerboard 2, etc) to something other than Black. But I doubt this is a factor for G5 Quads.

Editing Cells - Simple Issue, but Confused

Simple issue, but I can't seem to figure this one out in Numbers. I'll do my best to explain in words here.
Let's say I store the following dollar amount in cell A1 = 1264. The number is formatted to dollars. Therefore A1 is presented as $1,264.00. All is well up to this point.
Okay, now let's assume I click out of the cell completely. Now let's say I wanted to add $250.50 to this amount in cell A1. When I go to the formula bar to add in the $250.50 it's requiring me to remove the dollar sign and comma out of my $1,264.00 number in order to complete the computation. Is this normal? I never had to do this in Excel. My thought was that I should only need to include an equal sign at the beginning of the formula (in other words, there shouldn't be a need to remove the dollar sign and comma every time, right?).
Just wanted to make sure that I'm not missing anything overly simple (which I'm sure I am).
Any help is greatly appreciated! I'm really enjoying my trial version of Numbers thus far.

There is another way to remove each comma and dollar sign, one that will work on multiple cell at once if needed. Select the cells that you want to clean-up and using the Cells Inspector, change the format from Currency to Number and then click the Thousands Separator checkbox to deselect it. Then all that remains is to add the equal sign when you go in to edit the content by changing your input to a formula. Then if you still want the value to be displayed as currency, change the format back.
I'm not saying that this method is better, but may be worth a try if your are backspace/delete averse.

Difficulties: Fresh Downloader but confused!

I just downloaded my package Adobe Creative Suite 6: Design Standard that works for Windows. I have it all installed, I have my user up and going... But at the last part, saying it was completed, it said that I can download the applications that come with the CDs. Adobe Photoshop CS6, Adobe Illustrator CS6, Adobe InDesign CS6, and Adobe Acrobat X Pro with the additional components: Adobe Bridge CS6 and Adobe Media Encoder CS6.
I was so eager that I clicked out of the program before finding out how to get the applications into my current program... And I need help!
1. Do I need to purchase these applications?
2. If I do not need to purchase these applications, where do I go to retrieve them?
I am so eager to get started on working on my images so badly and to get in the world of Adobe Creations, but I really need help. I appreciate the time and patience for helping me and I do apologize.

Happy but Confused ?-)

I love Leopard so far... but here are a few problems I'm having:
- Before cleanly installing Leopard, I safely cloned my old system on an external firewire drive so I could go back to restore data as needed. However, I can't find the file that contains my old safari (or firefox) bookmarks.
- I reinstalled Dreamweaver on my computer but I can't determine how to import all my site related data (username, password, remote info, local info, etc).
Any help with these issues would be mostly appreciated.

I found a Dreamweaver folder called "site cache" which stores all the data related to the sites I manage. But when I overwrite the existing file with the old data, Dreamweaver still doesn't seem to see it.
Am I missing something?

Replacing my motherboard, but confused about part details

Hi guys,
I am replacing the motherboard for my T60p (model 2613ETU), and the part number I need is 41W1370. The specs are available here. There's only one problem: I'm not exactly sure what the numbers 83x, 84x, 85x, etc. stand for. I would appreciate it if someone can help me out here.
Also, the 41W1370 comes with the ATI FireGL V5200 graphics card. Is this the best card my T60p would be able to support? I would be happy to replace my motherboard with the exact same model, if its required, but if there's another motherboard that would fit my machine and come with a better graphics card, I wouldn't mind spending a little more for that.

Final revision of T60p motherboards had a V5250 graphics card.
I've used both and haven't really noticed a difference in performance, but I'm not a gamer or someone who uses video-intensive applications for anything apart from the purposes of testing...YMMV.

Experienced IT consultant - but confused...

I have several IT clients for whom I manage their computers/networks remotely. I have their dynamic hosts setup along with the appropriate ports forwarded so that I have access from anywhere. My issue is that sometimes, depending on my location info (Current Status, Info, Application, User, etc) sometimes is available on each computer and sometimes it's not. In fact, sometimes it tells me that the computer is offline - yet I'm still able to view/control it. This same problem occured before I upgraded to ARD 3.
For example, in one location I have a semi-complex setup involving a cable modem, a wired router, and two AX's w/ some ports forwarded. When I'm online at that location, I'm able to access see all my clients' info remotely - and even upgrade their client software! When I'm connected from a simple setup at a different location (cable modem with one AX), I can't see any info or upgrade any client software...but I can take control or and view their computers.
So what gives? Any thoughts on the subject would be much appreciated...

My first suggestion would be to check the routers/firewalls at your locations to make sure TCP and UDP port 3283 is open. Observe and control uses a different port (5900, the VNC port), so it's entirely possible to be able to view or control a system but, if 3283 is blocked, not be able to do anything else.

This is perplexing for me as the parameter being passed i.e., b is of type B then why this output. Any real explanation would be very welcome.

I thought the person in the other forum answered this pretty well but I will try it from another angle.
Method overloading is actually nothing more than a fancy way of naming a method. The resolution to which method will be called is done at compile time exactly as if the overloaded methods were named differently.
If your example was re-written as follows:

bAsA.showOne(b);You would expect the output to be
B.showOne(A)
This is because the compiler resolved the method call to be showOne of class A. The compiler can only look at the reference type not the actual runtime type (since it does not exist yet).
When the call is performed at runtime, the JVM knows to call the method from the actual instance which has overrided the showOne method. You would not expect the JVM to call the showTwo method because the names are different.
When you overload a method, the actual name (signature) of the method includes the parameters exactly as if you had a "named" it differently.
Somehow I think I could have said this clearer but maybe it will help anyway.

I am planning to buy iphone 5 but confused on its mail management. Where can i get more information on it? I am currently a blackberry user.

I am not sure how iphone would handle the mail traffic. I understand that once you open the outlook, all mails goes out of your hand phone. My worry is then how to refer the past mails while not in front of the machine and outlook? I am currently using Blackberry which is excellent on mail management and hence this worry before I make a switch.

If you actually set up the email account instead of simply syncing via Outlook on the computer then your concerns listed above are irrelevant.
