Interesting effects shot. Any takers?

I realize this may not be the correct forum for this, but if there's a better one, someone please point me to it.
I may need to do an effects shot involving miniatures. Specifically, a miniature exploding. I have an Canon XL1 for the shoot, but I've always thought it was needed to shoot more frames per second to give it the "size" it will need on screen. Is there a way to set-up the camera to do this? Or will I have to slow it down later the hard (and worse looking) way?
Any help on this, even pointers, would be greatly appreciated.

Miniature effects have been in use for more than 100 years, there is absolutely nothing new in this field and it's easily researched. You can rent thousands of films from the 30s through Star Wars era to view good and bad miniature work. See the South Park team's puppet trip "Team USA" for great miniature stuff from stop motion to slow motion to mattes and interior projections. I repeat: there's nothing new in this field, it was perfected decades ago and you can easily benefit from all that work.
The energy requirements of your miniature work are relative to your needs to sell the effects to your audience. You've integrate it at tremendous cost (lots of time and energy, maybe lots of money) or accept your time/budget limitations and stylize the shot. Slow motion, by itself, will NOT—no way—aell you shot.

'effects shot' offline/online workflow...

Hello all,
I've been working on an effect for a 2 second shot in a short film. The film was shot on digibeta, but for working out the effect in After Effects i was given just the 2" shot i need at DV PAL quality. The director is now happy with the effect and ready to move into the online.
BTW - the effect is a sutble glow and contra-zoom around a man as he sits and talks to a lover about his foreseen death... nothing too hectic.
The online is being done elsewhere and all i have to do is provide this little bit... so, what exactly, is the workflow here? I can get the 2" clip at 10/8 bit uncompressed on a harddrive... So do i simply re-connect the media in the After Effects project to the uncompresssed media and export that for the online? Or, is the colour correction meant to be done first, then i take the clip and apply the AE project to it?
I'm a little confused about the correct workflow between me and the online editor, and how we get this effects shot into the final movie... I really appreciate being pointed in the right direction here.

I was thinking along those lines.
So I just need to get the 8/10 bit uncompressed file for the 2" clip, import that into the AE project and re-connect to it, then export as same format, and give that to the onliner.

How to minimise side effects of any note / Patch Application

How can one know that what effect a note / Patch is going to have and what all transaction codes it will hit..
For example i applied one note which seems to have activated a certain schema which was earlier commented out in the system. resulting in the printing of payslip with incorrect details.
How can one minimize any side effects of any note applied in the system...kindly suggest.

The reason i ask this question on this forum is the fact that in the past few instances i have faced certain issues due to application of notes related to form 24Q (these are the oly notes we have applied)
and the issues are coming in Payroll, in payslips and certain areas which i feel should remain unaffected by the note application...
However i appreciate all he answers and also would like to urge SAP to maybe release atleast the standard Testing that should be done after a particular Note application. i do not know if this is a reasonable demand but it is always better to have it right from the horses mouth...
Hope you agree to this........and will garner support for the same......

I have a generation 3 ipod 80 gig. When I updated itunes to 11.1.11 and tried to sync the ipod it erased it and now wont recognize it. I can't seem to make this work I have reset the ipod, reloaded itunes all to no effect. Any ideas?

Here is what worked for me:
My usb hub, being usb2, was too fast. I moved the wire to a usb port directory on my pc. That is a usb1 port which is slow enough to run your snyc.

Making an HDR document Aperture-Photoshop workflow experiment, any takers?

I tried this recently but failed and I'm trying to figure it out.
So, is anyone interested in a 32-bit HDR test using Aperture and Photoshop CS2? I think this feature is revolutionary in Photoshop CS2 and hope Aperture will have something like it in a future update/upgrade.
The takers will have to have Aperture (duh) and Photoshop CS2 (duh).
1. Take an image in Aperture.
2. Make about 8 versions of the image.
3. Make 4 that are incrementally over-exposed,
4. Now make 4 that are incrementally under-exposed.
To achieve this:
Make 8 identical Versions.
Select each image (version) and open the Adjustments Inspector , select Exposure and click up into the + range and then select the next image and do the same but up a notch to a higher over-exposed level, continue this until each image is slightly over-exposed from the previous image.
Now select the next 4 and under-expose them into the - range using the same methodology as described above.
At the end you'll have 8 images (versions) that have a wide exposure value. Utilizing the same Master image with different versions having individually different exposure values. Some very dark to some very light.
Export each version as a "PSD - Original Size (16-bit)" file and "Include Metadata" checked into a folder on your Desktop or other hard drive.

the only way to export and maintain the EXIF metadata the version has to be PSD and not a TIFF.)
In order for this to work Photoshop has to see and recognize the EXIF data. Open Photoshop CS2 and make a new HDR document, browse Photoshop to the folder with the images from Aperture. Make the new 32-bit HDR document.
Did Photoshop make a new 32 bit HDR document?

Yes, me too, I was getting the same error message about not having enough dynamic range or as you say joshua it sees the same EXIF settings for all of the shots.
Nevertheless, what I want to do is bracket the exposure levels (f-stop/aperture) and leave the shutter speed alone the way it is done with a camera and tripod but instead do the bracketing within Aperture (the application) and then send the photos (Versions) to the HDR feature in Photoshop CS2.

My hand me down MPC keeps repeating the start up chime and nothing comes on and no buttons have any effect. Any ideas?

MY "hand me down" Mac Book Pro has decided that it will not boot up. I just get the first chime repeating over and over and none of the keys seem to have any effect at all. I cannot get into safe mode etc. My nearest Apple S tore is about 40 miles away. Any ideas out there?

Do you know the year of production (e.g., "15-inch Late 2011")?
Never mind - it looks as if it's a mid-late 15" 2009.
It's sounds as if your problem is something mechanical - a bad drive, something, that will simply not allow the system to boot. Do you have the discs that originally came with the machine (gray discs)? If so, you can try booting from Disc One and see if you can boot into recovery mode. If not, you'll need to call Apple, with your serial number handy, and purchase a set of the machine-specific discs that came with the system (10.4.9 or 10.4.10 or perhaps even 10.5).
Then you can see if you've a hardware or system problem.

I am new to forms 10g, I have created a screen in forms with neccessary triggers for button and etc, which i able to run in individual system where i installed the form and reports.
After finish my screen and the same of fmx When i move into my Form Standalone Application directry, i can view the screen via middle tier but trigger coding are not getting any effect.
Please help me what is the boo-boo.

The simplest way to see if your button works is to create a When-Button-Pressed trigger on the button, and in that trigger, write this code:
Message('Hello World');
Clicking on the button should at least give you "Hello World" on the status line. If you click it twice, the message should show up in a popup window.

In need of help on effects shot

Hello all,
I have a scene in my short film where the camera pans horizontally across a field, and I have a PSD sky that I want to put over the sky in the footage.
I originally tried to do this entirely on PS, applying the sky layer manually onto every frame (600 frames total) and shifting it a couple pixels each time to correspond with the panning. I am unhappy with the result, and figured there must be a better way of doing it.
For this purpose I have just purchased AE CS4 and am entirely new to it. If somebody could give me an easy-to-understand explanation of how to do this shot, it would be a true life saver.

First of all, I strongly recommend that you work your way through the getting-started materials here before you attempt to work on a real project.
This After Effects Community Help search pulls up several resources for sky replacement. This page is probably the best of those results to use as a starting point, since it links directly to several good tutorials on the subject.

Adobe CMM for Linux - any takers?

Would there be value in a Linux version of the Adobe CMM?
As with the Windows and Mac versions, the goal would be to match the color-managed conversions in Adobe applications, so that a color expert can build high-performance, cross-vendor, cross-platform, workflows with consistent color conversions. We would not provide source code.
Would anyone use it? (besides Bob?)
An interesting challenge is that due to the absence of a standard CMS there is no standard CMM API set or CMM feature set under Linux. This is both an opportunity and a restriction. Any suggestions on what to do?

Flash is not, and probably never will be, supported on the iPad : http://www.apple.com/hotnews/thoughts-on-flash/ . Plus it would be up to Adobe to make a version of their flash player that works on iOS devices, something which they have never managed to do and which they have now given up on trying to do.
Browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter and Puffin 'work' on some sites, but judging by their reviews not all sites. Also some websites, especially news sites, have their own apps in the App Store, so your could try checking there for your sites (and there is the built-in YouTube app).

How to setup a query plan in effective at any time for SP or SQL query?

I have a SP which include a group by SQL statement. It retrieve data from a couple of tables which are over 1G size,
When I run this SP at first time, it take more than 5 minutes to get the result. then I run it again and again, Finally, it become very quick, I can get the result within second.
Not sure why. I guess it is because of query plan.
How to make it running at first time to get result within second? How to force a better best query plan in effective at first time to run the query?
If the engine has better plan in memory, could it be lost at some point? because I have the complain from end user said some times it is fast, sometime it is very slow.
How to resolve this problem?

i have downloaded photoshop cs6 and after effects cs6 they worked properly and now they both give me error 16 when i try to open them
