Interesting, no Metallica on iTunes........

Here's something interesting I heard that Metallica refuses to put their music on any download store, but if you go to Walmart and go to the downloads page and do a search Metallica has 140 songs on there. What's goin' on here... Anyone have any ideas?

Metallica has always maintained very tight control of their catalog & its distribution. For a long time, I know that Metallica had not allowed any on-line store to offer their catalog. If WalMart has it, it's fairly recent & Metallica may have signed an exclusive contract with WalMart.

  • Interested in subscribing to iTunes Match but concerned about number of devices

My family and I all share 1 iTunes library. All purchases are made using the same AppleID account. We currently have 17 apple devices and will most likely be adding more with Xmas coming up next month. We are interested in subscribing to iTunes Match. Can / How do we use iTunes Match across all these devices? I would guess that there are many family's out there like mine where each person has an iPhone, computer & iPad. Limiting iTunes Match to 10 devices will not work, especially if you have a large family. Hopefully I'm not understanding it correctly and someone is able to assist.
    Thank you.

" Authorizing and deauthorizing a computer allows you to manage which computers can sync or use apps, audiobooks, books, music, movies, or other content you've purchased from the iTunes Store.
You can use or sync your purchases from the iTunes Store on up to five different computers (these can be any mix of Macintosh or Windows-compatible computers). When you sync or play an item you've purchased, your computer is "authorized" for purchase using your Apple ID."
    OK

What is then the "truth"? When I try to add another computer it seems (previous post) that the first is true (I only have 7 devices associated with my Apple ID). Not the second.

  • Interested in listserv for iTunes U Admins?

I am the iTunes U admin at Emory University. These discussions are a useful forum for technical and general iTunes U questions, but I'd love to start an iTunes U pedagogical forum. i.e. How are your faculty using iTunes U, examples of best practices, promotion ideas, what you demographics look like, top hits, etc. I'd be glad to own the listserv and subscribe those interested. You may email me directly at "[email protected]".

Ah, I'm probably going to get yelled at by Apple Duncan 'bout this.
You have to first create a bookmark to a place wherein you can actually upload files. For example, you need to control/right-click on a course tab, copy the iTunes U URL, create a new bookmark in the iTunes U app, and paste the URL ito the list bookmark list. Then whe you uplaod files, you will see them.
The iTunes U app creates a default bookmark for you ... but it represents your entire site, not a specific course. However, you can only upload things to specific places in iTunes U ... courses and course tabs.
Sorry 'bout this ... it's my fault for not explaining this very well.

  • Will season 2 of Person of Interest be available on iTunes store?

Though, I remeber it being abilable with eight episodes out of ten, but now I can't find it at all.

CBS has always be weird on iTunes. The Big Bang Theory season 1 was available. And then it wasn't and no seasons were available till about a year ago when all of them showed up.  So I guess they like to restrict access to their most popular shows.

  • Itunes erased all the album and artist info when reloading library!!!

My problem is a big one. I've got 8600+ songs (800+ albums) on my hard drive. These are all from physical CDs; I ripped them in wav, then converted them to mp3. When I did this, I kept both the wav AND mp3 files in each respective album folder; about 400G of wav and 80G of mp3.
OK, so a couple weeks ago I got hit with a virus. It messed up my XP OS to the point where I needed to do a reformat and reinstall. All of my music files are on an external hard drive, so no big deal there. I finish the reinstall, re-download itunes, and tell it where to find my music, and to import it into the library.
This is where things go horribly wrong. Itunes imports all the mp3 files in as separate folders/albums, just like before, with all the track and artist info intact. However, for some reason, it took all the wav files and dumped them into one giant Unknown Artist/Unknown Album folder. In doing so, it appears to have stripped the artist AND album info from every single one of the 8600+ tracks! I don't know why it did this, as the wav files in the itunes folder all had the exact same track info as the mp3s.
My question now is: is there any way I can get this info BACK, any program that can look at the individual tracks and figure out what artist and album they go with? Or is there something within itunes that can do it that I haven't found yet? There's no way I can go through and do this track by track; I can't even begin to calculate how long that'd take. My only OTHER option would be to re-rip all the CDs, but again, that took months the first time and I don't want to do it again. However, these files are pretty much useless as they are, in a giant pile that seems only to be organized by the songs' respective track numbers.
I am screaming HELP in capital letters here. Even if I could find a program or solution that would find MOST of the tracks' info, I'd be happy. I'd also be interested in knowing why itunes did this in the first place, for future reference.
And just to head off one solution I expect to be offered, no, I did not have the files backed up anywhere else; reimporting an un-reorganized version of the library isn't an option. I had just finished ripping them and hadn't picked up a second hard drive yet. I know, first thing I should have done.
In any event, any help would be appreciated. Please feel free to email me. Thanks.

I just remembered some older posts talking about some software from musicbrainz.org.
It might be able to make some sense out of all those WAV files, if you decide to spend the time on it. Honestly I'd prefer to rip my CDs than go through something like that, because I'm a control freak and would not trust the program to really find the right info....but that's just me. It might be easy to set up and a snap to use, for all I know.

  • Can't create iTunes acc! - Anyone else from Puerto Rico?- Cust Serv $uck$!

I've been trying to create an account for iTunes, mostly to download the album artwork to my library. But I haven't been able because iTunes billing system will not recognize my credit card, giving me different error messages such as "information does not match with bank's records", "please give use a US issued credit card", "fields were omitted", etc. I've been trying to get some assistance from the customer service representatives but all they do is give me some canned messages and basically say that Puerto Rico is not a "state" of the USA and that we, Puerto Ricans, cannot download music from iTunes, even though I know a lot of people in Puerto Rico that can, with credit cards issued locally.
If you are having the same problems, please post here to show them that it's not an isolated situation, even if you are not from Puerto Rico.
This is my first post, so if I'm breaking any rules or anything similar, I would appreciate that you contact me so I get the chance to amend things.
Here's a copy of all e-mail conversations so far with the customer service representatives, which proves that they aren't paying attention to the customer.

    2) I contacted my bank regarding this situation with my credit card and they said that the card is fine.
    3) I contacted my bank regarding this other situation with my credit card and iTunes to confirm that the information I have and they have is the same, and it is.
Can't it be Apple's billing system?
Why is it up to us, the customer, to go through all this problems without any assistance from some customer representative, verifying why the system says the information is not accurate, contacting my bank to verify if everything is okay, verifying if Apple's servers have been busy, etc.
Come on, man, there's got to be a supervisor, manager or someone able to help me with this.
So far I'm really sorry of deciding for an iPod instead of a Zune or some other music player.

    Dear David,
I'm sorry that you haven't been able to make an account on the iTunes Store. After reviewing with our technicians I can confirm that residents of Puerto Rico are able to use the US iTunes store.
If you are still unable to create an account, it is possible that the iTunes Store has been unable to verify an authorization from your financial institution. There are several possible reasons for this:
    1) Your financial institution's servers have been busy. Consider trying again at another time.
    2) There is an issue with your card. Consider using a different card or contacting your financial institution to advise them of the problem.
    3) Your billing name or address does not match the address listed on your credit card statement. Any discrepancy in punctuation, abbreviation, or capitalization can cause errors, which might prevent you from purchasing from the iTunes Store. If you moved, or if your zip code changed recently, ask your financial institution to make sure their records are up to date and match exactly what you are entering as your billing information.
Please follow these steps to confirm or update your account information:
    1) Go to Apple's My Info page: <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://myinfo.apple.com
    2) Choose your country and preferred language from the pop-up menus.
    3) Enter your iTunes Store account name and password and then click Log In (or Continue).
    4) At the My Info Welcome page, click Address Book on the left. Confirm or edit your information.
    5) Click Phone Numbers on the left. Make sure the area codes and phone numbers are entered correctly in their respective fields.
    6) Click Save Changes.
Try placing an order on the iTunes Store. If the iTunes Store still cannot obtain an authorization for your card, you won't be able to make purchases at the iTunes Store with that particular card. You can use a different card or one of the following payment methods:
    - PayPal
    - iTunes Gift Certificates
    - iTunes Gift Cards
You can purchase iTunes Gift Certificates here:

What's up with you people? Stop using the same canned messages and read the whole conversation, PLEASE!
That's almost the same answer Vanessa gave to my initial e-mail. Then, Andres apologized because Apple does consider Puerto Rico part of the United States and even includes Puerto Rico as a "state" in the fields of registration for MyInfo and iTunes.
Puerto Rico is a territory of the USA and we, Puertorricans, are considered citizens and residents of the USA, so far that the same rates apply to the USPS Post Office, that we don't need to get through customs in domestic flights, that we don't needed a passport to get in and out of the USA until the new Patriot Act provision that started now on January 1st, 2007.
Will someone really get to this and answer all my questions in their rightful way?
So far the service seemed to be good because you were answering in a timely manner, but I just figured out that all you are doing is using canned messages and/or doing some "copy/paste" to your "concerned and dear customers".
PLEASE get through with this and get me a complete answer.
No thanks in advance, until I get what I need, especially after spending so much money on an iPod and so much time through your forums, etc.

Thank you for your interest in the iTunes Store. You may browse any country's iTunes Store, preview audio and video clips, and even download podcasts. However, residents of Puerto Rico may not purchase from the ITunes Store at this time.
Items in any particular country's iTunes Store are available only for distribution to customers who reside in that country and who use a credit card, debit card, iTunes Gift Certificate, or iTunes Gift Card issued in that country.
For example, the U.S. iTunes Store can only sell to U.S. residents using credit cards or debit cards that were issued in the U.S., or iTunes Gift Certificates or Gift Cards purchased in the U.S.

Thank you very much for going further in your review and reply to my initial concern.
I was able to create an account through the MyInfo page. I was able to log in to iTunes, but it then asks me for my billing information. I'm trying to register two credit cards I have from a local bank. I was not able to register any of these. The system keeps telling me that the bank information is not the same as the one I entered. I tried several variations and none was accepted. I'm trying this with my bank statement on hand to match the information perfectly and I even called the bank to confirm if I have all the correct information, as in their systems, which they confirmed.
It appears that iTunes will not accept my credit cards in any way, even with my bank assisting me with the different variation that iTunes may be asking for.
Is there any way you may help me to register my credit card to my account? Because, after all, having an account created through the MyInfo page did little since I still can't download album artwork nor purchase music.
On the other side, I tried using my Paypal account which is Verified and with a Confirmed address, but iTunes says that it cannot verify the account.
It appears that iTunes has some kind of problem with accounts from Puerto Rico.
Again, thanks in advance for your help and attention!

    Dear David,
Please accept my apologies for the miscommunication in our previous response. As you have confirmed, residents of Puerto Rico may create an account by choosing "PR" from the State menu on the US iTunes Store.
If receive an error when creating an iTunes Store account, you can create an Apple ID first by visiting Apple's My Info page:
    http://myinfo.apple.com
After creating your Apple ID, connect to the iTunes Store and sign in using your new account name and password. You may then provide billing information and begin downloading album artwork for your iTunes library.
Please note that your billing name and address must match the address listed on your credit card statement exactly. Any discrepancy in punctuation, abbreviation, or capitalization can cause errors, which might prevent you from creating an account.
Alternatively, you may create an account with an iTunes Gift Card purchased from a local retailer. For help creating an account in this manner, please refer to the following article:

    Hi!
Thank you very much for your reply to this concern, but this answer does not convince me since the iTunes registering page adds Puerto Rico as a "state" of the USA in the drop-in box / field, plus I know a lot of people here in Puerto Rico that have an account registered in iTunes with a credit card issued by a local bank that are able to make purchases.
My main interest in having an iTunes account is being able to download the CD’s artwork, which, apparently, can only be done if I have an account registered in iTunes. As an option, is there any way to create an account without having "purchasing" privileges for this matter?
I am really disappointed with the service and options restricted by Apple for this matter, specially when they have so many authorized dealers and resellers in Puerto Rico, which is not a "Channel Island" but a USA territory or property, with USA citizenship, with USA residency, USA currency, with USA post office, with USA customs, with USA courts, etc. Another question, since it was not offered as an option, if I buy iTunes gift cards, which I can buy almost anywhere here on the island, can I use it for purchasing purposes or would I not have this privilege because I live here?
I would really appreciate further evaluation of this concern because I believe that I may indeed register at iTunes and make purchases being in Puerto Rico with a credit card from a local bank since, like I explained before, I know, personally (my brother, my brothers-in-law, etc.), a lot of people here in Puerto Rico that have an account registered in iTunes with a credit card issued by a local bank that are able to make purchases.
Thank your for your time and attention.

To the previous user, thank you for anything you may do to help with this, but I understand that I clearly stated that I was not expecting help from a customer service representative but to get a number of people going to the same or a similar situation which may be later used as an example to Apple for them to work with this.
Here's an update on what's being going on so far...
Man, I am still NOT satisfied.
I talked today with my bank regarding this situation and they told me that they have had several concerns with other customers about this and that they have done everything in their power before to make sure that iTunes works, accepting their credit cards, but that it's iTunes billing system the one with restrictions to accept these cards; in other words, that their cards are okay in their systems to be accepted by iTunes, but that iTunes refuse to accept them.
I believe that either Apple is discriminating against Puerto Rican customers, Puerto Rican banks or they are just not willing to go the extra mile to solve this billing situation.
So far it seems that you do not understand my principal need, which is downloading album artwork, not buying music.
I just received my iPod and am hesitating to open it because of all of this.
Again, service has been poor and attention to details worst.
If there's nothing else you may do to help me, I would appreciate to be forwarded to a supervisor or manager or director to present them this concern.
    Thanks.

Greetings, and thank you for the help so far.
Still, I am being unable to register my credit card. When I enter my VISA's security code (either of the two I have), which consists of three digits from the back of the card, the system gives me a message saying "Please enter a valid Security Code".
I tried, just in case, to use a dummy security code, such as 123 or 000 or 999 and the system gives me a message saying "Credit card processing is temporary unavailable. Please try again later".
It's funny and/or weird to me because I never get the message "Credit card processing is temporary unavailable..." when using my VISA's security code, nor I get the message "Please enter a valid Security Code" when using a dummy security code.
What's up with that? Any further help you may provide me with this?

I have examined your Apple ID, editing your address to the USPS standard format that iTunes requires.
Here's how to access the iTunes Store using your Apple ID and your reset password:
    1) Make sure you're using the latest version of iTunes. It's available free of charge from the Apple website at:
    <a class="jive-link-external-small" href="http://">http://www.apple.com/itunes/download
    2) Open iTunes.
    3) From the Store menu, choose Sign In.
    4) Click the Apple radio button, enter your Apple ID, "[email protected]" and the password "apple0107", and click Sign In.
    5) You will see a dialog saying this: "This Apple ID has not yet been used with the iTunes Store. Please review your account information." Click Review and follow the onscreen instructions to sign in with the account.
Here are a few things to keep in mind:
    - If you forget the password for your Apple ID, you can reset it via Apple's iForgot website:
    http://iforgot.apple.com
    - If you wish to change your Apple ID, visit Apple's My Info site at http://myinfo.apple.com and sign in with the current Apple ID. Note that if your Apple ID is a .Mac member name, you won't be able to change it.
Should you continue to experience difficulty accessing or creating an iTunes Store account, please reply to this email with a detailed description of the problem as well as the exact text (if possible) of any error messages you receive.

  • Syncing the same iTunes library among multiple computers

I have two computers, a Windows 7 laptop and a new iMac. iTunes on both computers are signed into the same Apple ID. I currently have my iTunes library on my laptop, but I would like to also have the exact same library on my iMac. For instance, if I download a new podcast to my laptop, it should be placed on my iMac as well. When I delete the podcast, it should be deleted on the iMac too. When song metadata is updated on my laptop (play count, lyrics, etc), I want it updated on the iMac automatically.
I have not had much experience with Home Sharing, but would that do all of this automatically? I know I could manually transfer songs from one computer to the other using Home Sharing, but what about updated metadata or deleting files?
iCloud has made this situation more interesting. I know iTunes in the Cloud and iTunes Match will keep music files in sync among various devices (including metadata?), but what about podcasts or movies or files not purchased via iTunes? I know there are plenty of details that are yet to be released concerning iCloud, but do you think it will solve this problem entirely, or will manual labor be required to obtain the exact same library among multiple computers?
I have considered only using my iMac to maintain my library, since it is always on and I could use Home Sharing to listen to music on my laptop since they are on the same Wifi network. However, I feel it would be best to keep the same library on two computers for when I take my laptop on vacation away from my home network.
What would you suggest for this situation?
    Thanks!

sorry about the slight irrelevence of this post on this thread....i saw this much older post you had in my explorations and it is almost to a "T" my issue currently and i was wondering if you ever came to a conclusion or had any tips or resolution paths i could explore. your original message:
I have 2 computers I'd like to set up Home Sharing on. One is Windows XP and the other is Windows 7.
I set it all up but then the libraries never show up. Nothing happens.
The computers are on the same network and I can successfully share files and a printer. Both computers are      authorized using the same account. Both are signed into that account.
I don't know why it's not working. Can you please help?
              Thanks!!
is EXACTLY my problem with the only variable being that both of my computers run 7. furthermore, you went on to say you were experiencing issues with the "remote" app. that was the initial objective for me in my system that got me here with a deeper problem with home share. i want to home share my itunes library and control it from my iPod touch 4g. is that such an unreasonable request?!?!? lol. i'm incredibly frustrated and was hoping that since you had such specifically similar circumstances....have you found a solution? PLEASE HELP!!! thank you so much for your time.

Well, firstly, there's the enormous downside of Apple's structure not being able to keep up with (what they should have known would be) enormous interest... my iTunes has been matching for >20-hours and has yet to reach half-way up my library. BTW: I thought I read the iTunes Match info fairly thoroughly prior to subscribing and did not see anything about it being for songs vrs full library.
And secondly, and even more important to me, is that Apple's method of determining duplicate songs is not robust enough, especially for classical music and audio books (e.g., LoTR). I have >12000 "songs" in my library, and Match has determined a boatload are duplicates. They are not of course and even if Apple's duplicate-determining algorithm just looked at disc & track numbers it would "know" that. Anyway, there's a fairly good chance I will not have one complete album upload/match out of >500 albums. That's nae Scottish, in anybody's book.
Gotta say, using Garage Band to individually alter >2000 "songs" on the off-chance that may assist Apple's duplicate algorithm to be correct is not gonna happen. If, after the matching/uploading is complete, I still have >even 100-not-duplicate-songs listed as duplicates, I'm getting my $29.95 subscription back.
... and C: does anybody know why Apple's Lion spell check doesn't work on Apple's discussion forums???

  • How can I sync selected books to my ipad via the itunes interface?

I have a lot of books and pdfs all neatly tagged in my itunes library, and I would like to be able to sync selected books to my ipad from the itunes 'books' library page. I cannot for the life of me find a way to do this!
I realise you can choose to sync either 'all books' or 'selected books' from the 'Devices' > 'ipad' > 'books' tab option; however this is not really feasible as all you can do here is select  from the entire list of books (only options are to sort by title or author).
It is obviously much easy to find the set of books I'm interested in using the itunes search, and sorting based on the various tags I have in the metadata. I would assume there must be a way to highlight the relevant books in this view, and 'send to ipad'? There is an option to put a check mark next to a book, but this deosen't seem to do anything at all.
If anyone could help I would be grateful, the only other option I could think of would be to identify the relevant books in the itunes library view, write down thier titles, and then sift through the 'selected books' in my ipad 'books' tab and check them one by one!! Not fun
    Many thanks!

Oh, how I wish that would work!
I know the thread is over a year ago, but I came upon searching for a solution to the exact same problem.  iMaestro, you've described what's needed exactly--a way of checking all of them, and then deselecting a certain limited subset.
Unfortunately, when you check Sync Books, All Books, the selection portion is then greyed out.  Maybe this problem was introduced with the latest iTunes version!
I think I'll be stuck having to painstakingly check most of a set of books, rather than just uncheck the dozen or so that clutter up the list.
Oh, related to that.  I'm assuming that there's a way of deleting the books entirely...  maybe that's another solution.

  • Itunes Radio choppy or hard to play after upgrading to an itunes match account?

    Hello friends,
am seeking some help since I have no idea what might be causing the issue. I've been working on this during my freetime for quite a while, but I'm stumped. Hoping some of you can help me.
Basically, Itunes Radio (and my match songs for that matter) are having a hard time playing on my iPhone 5c, which has recently been updated to ios 8.1. The iphone is a 32GB phone and has plenty of space for apps and third party music players but it is not so great for a huge library. But, the main reason I upgraded to an itunes match account was because of the ability to play itunes radio without any commercials. Well, there's no commercials... but i'm also unable to play itunes radio on my iphone. It plays just fine on my Macbook Pro (2010), with an updated yosemite but whenever I try to play a radio or song from my itunes match library it goes for about 30s, then just...stops, goes 30s ... then stops. So basically, it SOUNDS like an internet connection issue.... but.... well, let me list the things i've already tried.
-- power cycle (slide to power off); same thing
-- hard restart (power + home button at the same time); same thing
-- updated the device; same thing
-- reset network settings; same thing
-- reset ALL settings; same thing
-- restored device to factory settings; same thing
    -- different wifi; same thing
-- using cellular data; same thing (lasts longer, though...interestingly enough).
-- turning itunes match on/off; same thing
-- deleting & syncing itunes match; same thing.
-- restore device & set up as new; same thing (worked for about 2 songs).
-- changed all songs to AACC format; same thing
(same thing = same symptoms, in case you didn't catch that. ;-) )
I am out of ideas at this point. Anybody want to throw anything at me? I'm seriously willing to try ANYTHING that doesn't require me to wait.
Should note that I use comcast as my internet provider, we have several internet boosters in the house (hence multiple wifi.... my father needs wifi for work so we have a backup plan for the back up plan) and I have recently gotten in contact with comcast for an unrelated netflix issue.

Hi, i had the same problem and tried this,
Somehow iTunes is tied to Safari. Try this:
Someone mentioned to clear all website data and history in safari, stupid but it was either this or the below that fixed it
    or this,
    Disable Wi-Fi Networking Services
Many users have reported that they’ve solved their issues by disabling Wi-Fi Networking under Settings > Privacy > Location Services > System Services. This only relates to your location being used for Wi-Fi Networking, so it doesn’t disable Wi-Fi entirely.
Please let me know if it works.

  • How can I separate my itunes music from my windows media player music?

I've tried changing the file location in preferences>advanced, but every time I open iTunes it doesn't find the library.

Changing the location of the iTunes Media folder tells iTunes where to put new media, not where to "find" the library.

  • IPod Nano (4th Generation) switches on when connected to USB power - shows Menu & hangs (unresponsive to click wheel) - deems off after 5-sec - Switches off after disconnecting from USB Power - syncs with iTunes - Tried 5R's - Problem still persists

    1. The iPod Nano (4th Generation - 8GB) switches on, only when connected to USB power by showing apple logo and displays Menu options thereafter..
    2. However, I can not access Menu as it is unresponsive to click wheel. As a result it is inaccessible to any further use,
    3. NOTE: it displays "Battery Fully charged" icon on the screen without any "Lock" icon.
    4. After  5-sec to 10-secs the screen deems off.. i.e. goes to sleep mode.. And thereafter would probably remain like that (sleeeping) for eternity!!!!
    5. It Switches off after WITHOUT DISPLAYING any Apple Logo immediately after disconnecting from USB Power.
    6. In other words, it can be switched on only through USB power in spite of battery being fully charged.
    7. Interestingly, it syncs with iTunes. It is recognised in iTunes (Latest version 11+).. Displays on screen all commands Like.. syncronising, connecting, connected,
    8. Allows to add Music, videos like a normal ipod & displays all status information in iTunes.
    9. Read Trobleshooting & Tried all 5R's. Registered, Resetted, updated & Restored to iOS 1.0.2
    10. It is now displaying to select Language in place of Menu options, with no access through click wheel, centre button whatsoever... Problem still persists
KINDLY GUIDE ME THE SOLUTION. APPRECIATE YOUR RESPONSE in advance...

"I get the feeling that this is a software issue that could probably be solved quite easily"
Since you have already tried all the normal troubleshooting solutions, take the iPod to your nearest Apple Store for a *proper diagnosis.* The staff there will be able to confirm if your problem is software or hardware _*at no cost to you.*_

  • My itunes can't find the music on my external hard drive.

My itunes was working fine using my external hard drive. Then I played a song that was not part of that music folder. Now itunes says it can't find any of the songs that are listed. The little evil exclamation point pops up. How can I reconnect to the hard drive without having to start all over?

Thanks for the clarification of check vs click. I guess once I saw the word "double" I stopped reading. I ended up "reloading" the drive to itunes. The interesting thing is that itunes isn't setting the location for the external drive. It is set for a folder under "my music" The actual songs aren't there, but the folders are there. When i put my external drive music to a new itunes library, i did so without copying the songs. So about 100 gig of music is in a folder that is really only about 300mb. I noticed before i restarted that the location was this folder. When i opened it, it was empty. After redoing everthing all of the songs are on the folder. I probably should have just changed it to go to the external drive like you suggested. Just for fun i changed the location to the external and bypassed that small folder. It worked great. It only took about 2 minutes to update, and it works great. I thought i had to use that stupid little folder. Thanks for all of your help!!

  • Amount of free space not consistent on iPhone 4 with iTunes 10

The amount indicated as "free space" does not stay consistent in iTunes 10. The value keeps changing.

Addenda: 1) The free space indicator does not update in real time (e.g., while adding new music to the iPod) as it did in previous versions if iTunes.
    2) The error(s) in the iTunes free space calculations can cause syncing probems when the iPod is almost full. For example, I might try to add 400K worth of music on my iPod, which has about twice that much free space. iTunes 10 will tell me there's not enough room on the iPod and will not synch. Identical library on a different computer running iTunes 9 will allow the same iPod to synch. Interestingly, in this scenario, iTunes 10 will give me a different number for the amount of free storage required to update each time I press the "Sync" button.

  • My Itunes can't see my music on my NAS /synology

My Itunes 10.1 cant see my music on my NAS. For a period it could only see videos on my nas and n o music, but now the NAS is completely gone. The NAS is functioning quite well on other platforms - but not the new version of Itunes.
Ahat is the problem and what can I do ?
