Interesting situation, iPhone 5 stolen.
Problem is I had just had this iPhone switched out with an old one because the screen on the old phone had shattered. This phone was on the restore screen, but I didnt have wifi. The phone was never restored. My questions are;
1.What could someone who came upon my phone do from this screen?
2.Could they wipe it and use it as their own?
3.Could they restore from their own apple ID with my sims card in there?
4.Would they have to restore my iCloud to move forward, meaning I could catch them on Find my iPhone?
Something I have conflicting opinions on, I called a couple of apple stores and spoke to geniuses, one said the serial number could only help if the theif tried to pawn it, one said I could call Verizon and give them the serial number, report it missing, and it would be rendered useless to the thief. Anyone know the truth?
1) Restore it
2) Yes
3) Yes. They would likely remove your SIM and replace with their own.
4) No. They can restore and use as their own.
You would have to Ask Verizon if they have ablacklist ofr stolen phones. They cannot render it useless, but they could put it on a list so that the thief could not sign up for Verizon wireless service using the stolen iphone.

Hi _em24,
It sounds like you are having an issue with the upgrade to your iPhone’s version of iOS, a frustrating situation to be sure. Let’s see if we can get you back up and running.
For basic troubleshooting of upgrades, and assuming you are using iTunes to do it, I would suggest using the steps in this article -

is it possible when switching off a iPhone by the button you have to input the passcode or use fingerprint to stop theifs stealing the iPhone and making it easier to find.
my sons iPhone was stolen and switched off before we could find it we contacted police and they were not interested as the iPhone could not be traced.rio1 wrote:
I Don't know why because it could be built into the software. Easily if Apple took the time or effort as they use in there In-app where you need to use the password or 4 digit code I feel apple don't want to as they make more money from their customers by them forking out more money to buy a new iPhone this would also keep down insurance claims and stop these thiefs getting away with our iPhones so come on Apple I know this can be done you just need to implament it in the software.
So you want the phone to stay on when you switch it off, how much battery life do you expect under those conditions? -
i had my iphone 4 stolen today, and i have called the network people they blocked my sim and phone. What i want to know is will the person who stole my phone be able to access my stuff, such as my contacts, texts, photos etc??
I really don't think that they have any interest in your data. They most likely plan on wiping the phone in order to sell it.
If they do restore from a backup, they would have to restore in Recovery Mode because it has a passcode on it. But that can't happen anyway because if they synced to a different iTunes library it would not have any of your backups. -
My iPhone was stolen a few days ago. It appears to be offline on the Find My iPhone app. If the person who has it turns it on only for a brief moment and then turns it off immediately, will the location still be found? Once it returns to being offline will the location still be sent to me? And also, how can I retrieve my pictures from my iCloud?
Anything is possible.

My iPhone was stolen. I used Find My iPhone app to lock it and display a message. The phone has not connected to the internet to locate it. I contacted the police and they have taken my meid number. How does this work and what are my chances of getting the phone back? Are there other ways the theif can use it. I was told once they put in a new sim card and use it, whatever software the police have, it will show up.
Honestly? In the US (I can't speak to other countries, though I doubt it works much differently in a lot of the world) The police took your report and filed it either in their computers or, on paper. They will now not think of this again. The only time it will cross anyones mind is if, in the course of entering information into evidence about items recovered or seized at a crime scene, the serial number of an iPhone that was found/seized happens to match yours, in which case you will be contacted.
The police in the US can and will do nothing to 'blok' the phone and it's not worth their time to try and locate it unless you know for a fact that it was stolen by a big time drug lord, master criminal, or some other such prime target and they can get a court order to track the location of the phone in order to locate this individual for your own purposes. If they do that, they'll probably keep him under surveilance for a year or so before they act.
Basically, the police don't care about your phone. If they find it, they will give it back to you. They are not, however, going to go looking for it. They have better things to do.
I'm sorry, but that's the way it is. -
My iphone was stolen and we actually recovered it using the find my iphone app! Is there a way I can tell what the thief might have looked at in the interim? I know about hitting the home button twice to see recently used apps, but what if they then swiped to close them? i just want to know if this <bleep> was looking through my private info. TIA
Sorry marcia,
There is no way to tell what activity went on on your device when it was out of your hands.
Sorry,

My iphone was stolen. If i buy a new one and to register with the same Apple ID, my photos will be recovered in the new device?
If you have a backup of the old phone that backup contains camera roll photos. Restore from that backup to get your camera roll photos back

Hi,
My iPhone was stolen before, but luckily i got it back.
Now i cannot activate it with my own Apple ID because the system kept asking me to enter the previous user's Apple ID (yes, the theif)
So I cannot use my iPhone now.
Please kindly tell me what to do and how to do it. I want to use my iPhone with iOS 7!!
Thank you.
JiayiLiDoesn't matter. And if they have any property at all, it's worth the $50 filing fee for small claims court in most places.
If nothing else, filing could force Apple to disclose the email address and other information that was used to activate the stolen phone and lock it, leading to the identity of the thief or someone else involved in the crime.
For me, it would be well worth the $50 even if all I got was an attachment of future wages. Since i don't have the legal right to just shoot the bastage, it's the next best thing. -
My iphone was stolen, I used find my iphone app, and found that it was offline, however when tried locking mode option, I pressed remove device by mistake. Is there any way I can restore the iphone to my icloud/ apple Id again? No manual backup on laptop
The phone will automatically re-appear when it connects to the Internet. However, don't get your hopes up, as thieves know this & will make sure your phone never re-connects so you can locate it.

Good evening !
Oh sorry I didn't get it was just a title ...
So, as i said, my iphone got stolen like a month ago, and i purchased a new one.
I downloaded other apps in this new iphone and i think i did an error by syncing it with itunes as it seems that it doesn't have all the other apps i downloaded on the other iphone.
So I would like to know how to get back all my apps ?
Thank you very much

I unfortunately just got my IPhone 4s stolen.I thought I had the find my iPhone enabled but I didn't because I cannot locate the phone when I sign in ICloud.I have a password on the phone but i'm not sure if I turned on the option where the phone resets if you incorrectly put the password more than ten time. I immediately called my phone company (Verizon) and reported the phone stolen. So I know whoever took the phone cannot place calls or use the phone. But can they still access my data on the phone if they manage to unlock the phone? If so how can I erase all data on the phone so the thief can't access my personal information? is there any other way other than Find my IPhone to wipe off the data on the phone? I really don't want my personal information such as pictures, text messages, notes and social networks profile available to a stranger!!? Help please!!!
Hello thewrongway,
I'm sorry to hear about your phone! I understand the need for an active device. You are able to activate an old device and process an insurance claim for your iPhone 4s within 60days from the incident date. Keep in mind if the old phone is not a smartphone and you currently have unlimited data that feature will fall off. If you have a tier data plan no changes will be made. Please let me know if you have any additional questions. Thank you.

My iPhone is stolen. How can I get my address book back from the iCloud? I should have synchronized my iPad address book. However, I loss some recent contacts from iPhone.
I use my iPad to get the address book backed up by iCloud from my iPhone. However, I cannot see the recent new contacts from my iPad. Is there anyway to check the iCloud server to see if my address book backup from my iPhone is still there?

A month ago my iPhone was stolen, I turned on Activation Lock but it never came out BUT an hour ago somehow my apple ID was changed and someone removed from the account both my iPhone and iPad and the iPad was also remotely wiped. As soon as I saw it I recover the password and return the access to my iPad. But iPhone is not registered for my apple ID any longer. Can Apple help me somehow? I have all the documents and the iPhone box. Will they lock the iPhone and return me access to it. I'm sure it's been attached to another apple ID.
PS. the apple ID I'm using on the discussons is not the hacked one.Try contacting the Apple account security team and ask: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699.
